Biography: Hi all! My online name is Manawolf, but to normal real life people I am Sarah Wheeler. I've been active in anthropomorphic fandom for about 5 years, but recently caught DBZ fever. I mostly just use Mediaminer to peruse yaoi fanfics *blush* but with the responses my art has gotten I may be uploading a great deal of DBZ fanart. You guys are very responsive, it's very rewarding to upload, must be why I keep doing it!
Some words for fellow artists and those who aspire...
I have been drawing all my life, literally - I scribbled in the margins of homework, drawing during class, after class, during recess, during lunch, before dinner, after dinner, before bedtime, in front of the TV... Mind you one needs variety, there always have been books and other interests, but the point is, I have over 20 years of scribbling under my belt. What I can do did not happen overnight - and no, I am still not happy. I can pick apart my art and I still insist much of it is cr-p! Because I want to do so much more... I will always want to do something more. There will always be something to aspire to, someone who is better than you, someone who can accomplish what you only see in your dreams seemingly without breaking a sweat. Yet they too see inadequicies in their own work and look up to another in awe and envy.
I firmly believe that, if you keep drawing, and continue to strive and learn, you Will Get Better. You may not get better in the precise direction you want, and you may not be able to see it, but it will happen. Never stop trying and never settle for less, but always recognize your achievements. Every, and I mean Every professional artist has been through the stage/s you are at now. Anyone who says otherwise is lying! The accomplishments of other artists do not rest upon an unattainable plateau - there are steps from here to there, even if they are not obvious, even if you despair of finding them.
Have courage, have faith in yourself, challenge yourself, make use of critiques, see what you do wrong, AND what you do RIGHT. Above all don't be afraid to fail. A professor once told me "Art is attempting something with a degree of risk with style." The risk is that of failure... but that is OK. Like the Saiyajin, failure strengthens the artist - look upon your failure as an opportunity to grow and lean, and you can not help but succeed.
End blathering. ^_^
P.S.: I don't generally do requests, especially of fan characters.... but feel free to toss ideas at me (anything involving Vegeta is good =^_^=), or write a fanfic which may inspire me... I love to illustrate a good fanfic, when I have the time!
Not many things on this Earth are sweeter than a G/V PWP. -:D
