Kagome had lead Inuyasha out and onto the sidewalk then remembered her handbag.

“Inuyasha stay here. I’ll be right back.” She said heatedly.

“Where are you going?”

“I left my handbag in the school.”

“I can go get it for you.”

“Its in the girls locker room.”

“Oh...”

She ran back into the building and into the girls locker room. She went into the locker that she had left it in and grabbed it. Searching around in it she found the two jewels. The one that Tahani had given her that she slipped in her bag after the chaos in the middle and the Shinkon no Tama were still there. She didn’t think that any demon in this time would risk there cover at a school just to get the jewel and she was right.

She ran out of the school to find Inuyasha gone. ‘Where is he? I can sense him. ’ “Inuyasha where the hell are you? I’m not in the mood for games.”

“Sorry. Thought that I’d sit in the tree to wait for you.”

‘No hissy fit, no temper tantrum, no ‘You took long enough!’? Is he okay?’ “Are you okay Inuyasha?”

“I’m fine Kagome are you?”

“I’m fine.” she said cautiously. “You know, I’m still mad at you.” She said turning her back. She went over to climb onto his back to get home.

“Hey Kagome, do you think that we could walk for a bit?”

“Sure.” ‘This doesn’t sound like the egocentric, stupid, lug that I left in the feudal era. ’

Her gaze softened a bit looking at him. It was hard for her to stay mad at him when he acted like this.

“Kagome, I really am sorry.” He said as they started walking towards Kagome’s shrine. “I always seem to under appreciate you.”

“You only want your ‘Shard Detector ’ back.”

“No Kagome, I want my best friend back.” (Awwwwwe!) “You saved my life numerous times Kagome. I owe you a lot.” He said softly grabbing her hands. He felt a power pulse from her hand bag. He ignored it and continued looking into Kagome’s eyes.

She poured her soul into the beautiful amber eyes looking into her blue eyes. She too felt the pulse of the new jewel and broke out of her trance. She reached into her bag and pulled out the two jewel fragments. Holding them by their chains, one in each hand, she moved the new jewel fragment toward Inuyasha.

“Is that an other jewel? Does it have any thing to do with me?” He asked looking at the jewel in amazement. Suddenly the jewel pulsed and sent Inuyasha into a nearby tree. “What the hell was that!?” He asked trying to get up. “You did that on purpose didn’t you!?”

“Inuyasha! Are you okay?”

“You always find a new way to punish me. First the stupid necklace, then the twisting of the poor ears, and now this!”

“No, Inuyasha I just wanted to show you what I got from Tahani,” ‘And experiment with it. ’ “I didn’t know that it could, or would do that.” She looked at him innocently. “Do you forgive me?”

“Hey I probably deserved that. Heh.”

“No not something like that. I’ve already punished you enough.”

“Hey, when do we have to be back?”

“Ten thirty, why?”

“What time is it.”

“Time for you to get a watch.”

“Ha ha your sooo funny.” he said sarcastically. “Really,”

“Its nine twenty. We have an hour and ten minutes to get home.”

“Okay. Climb on.”

“Why?”

“Just climb on.” He sounded annoyed.

“Fine.” She said climbing onto his back. He leapt off in the direction of her shrine but suddenly changed direction. He leapt over Kagome’s old school and went off towards the park not too far from her house. Inuyasha knew that it would be deserted at this time of night so they would be able to talk more.

“Inuyasha where are you taking me?”

“Over to that park near your house.”

“Why?”

“So we can talk more.”

“Oh.” She fell silent.

When they got there he set her down on a swing next to him. “Did you have a good time with your new friends at the dance?”

“Yes I did. I made a lot of new friends. And from what Tahani tells me, it looks like I can still keep my grades up even with me being ‘sick ’ all the time. Oh and this school year, remind me to put my mom in charge of the illnesses. Grampa is going to put me in a coma soon.” They both started laughing at that.

“I really hope that your not mad at me any more. I don’t like it when your mad at me.”

“Inuyasha, don’t let this well your head up any bigger then it already is, but I can’t seem to stay mad at you for that long when you act like this.”

“I think that I’ll ignore the insult and take it as a compliment.”

“Hey my mom said that she wouldn’t be back at the shrine until ten thirty. I can make some ramen for you. Would you like that?”

“Sure. Ramen!”

They walked in silence until they reached the gate at the top of the stairs. She opened the gate listening to Inuyasha’s complaints on the never ending stairs.

“You need to move somewhere that there isn’t so many stairs!”

“Inuyasha, if I move then that would mean that I wouldn’t have access to the well anymore. I wouldn’t be able to go back in time to help you.”

“Oh, right. Sorry.”

Kagome opened the door and turned on the light of the shrine. As she stepped inside she took off the high heeled shoes.

“I’d ask you to take off the shoes but you don’t wear any.”

“Your funny.” he said sarcastically, tilting his head to the right.

She walked into the lighted living area. “Wait here Inuyasha.”

“Where are you going?”

‘I’m going to drive a moose! What do you think!?’ “I going upstairs to change out of this dress.” She said pointing down at it.

“Dress?” Inuyasha looked at the formfitting dress that Kagome was wearing. He hadn’t seen what she was wearing in the dim lights in the school gym and the street lamps. “Why change out of it? I think you look nice.” ‘Did I just say that out loud!?’

‘Its not like you didn’t mean it. ’

‘Who the hell are you!?’

‘I’m just the little voice in peoples heads. ’

‘How would you know if I meant it or not!?’

‘Because I know everything you know. Like how much you like her. Like how much you want to half-delay the jewel from being completed. ’

‘Why would I do that!?’

‘Because your not sure if the well will seal when the jewel is complete, so you and Kagome won’t be able to see each other anymore. ’

Inuyasha went silent for a moment processing this thought.

‘Why do I talk to the voices?! Damn it, shut up and go away!’

‘Oh, she does look good in that. ’

‘Back off buddy!’

“Inuyasha? Inuyasha! Are you okay?”

“Oh, I’m fine.” He replied shaking the thoughts out of his head.

“You didn’t mean that did you.” She asked sounding disappointed. ‘He’s just trying to mess with me. He never means it. ’

“Kagome...I...I-” Inuyasha started to blushed. Kagome just looked at him in disbelief. Kagome started upstairs. “I...I...,” He was still stuttering. “I meant it!” He blurted out clamping a hand over his mouth.

‘What was that?!’

‘You looked like you needed a little help. ’

‘Well stop helping!’

Kagome blushed and ran upstairs.

‘Great, now look at what we’ve done. ’

‘I think...she was happy at the comment. ’

‘Yes, and I’m not going crazy talking to myself in my head!’ He thought sarcastically.

Upstairs, Kagome was picking out what to wear, not really paying the cloths any mind in the first place.

‘He...he blushed when he said that. Did he really mean that? I will never be able to understand him. ’ She wondered bringing a lot of her older questions to mind. ‘Does he actually hold feelings for me? I doubt that he shares the same feelings as I do. And what he said earlier...’ His voice rang in her ears as she remembered their earlier conversation.

‘Are you okay Inuyasha?’

‘I’m fine Kagome are you?’

‘I’m fine, ’ She paused. ‘You know, I’m still mad at you. ’ She remembered turning her back on him. Then she went over to climb onto his back to get home.

‘Hey Kagome, do you think that we could walk for a bit?’

‘Sure. ’

She giggled remembering the look on his face when he hit the tree, and his response.

‘No, Inuyasha I just wanted to show you what I got from Tahani,’ ‘And experiment with it. ’ ‘ I didn’t know that it could, or would do that. ’ She looked at him innocently. ‘Do you forgive me?’

‘Hey I probably deserved that. Heh. ’

‘No not something like that. I’ve already punished you enough. ’

One part kept running over and over in her mind.-

‘I always seem to under appreciate you. ’

‘You only want your ‘Shard Detector ’ back. ’

‘No Kagome, I want my best friend back. ’ He paused. ‘You saved my life numerous times Kagome. I owe you a lot. ’ He said softly grabbing her hands.-

‘Is that all he thinks of me as, his best friend? Why can’t I read him like I normally do? I can’t tell if he’s hiding his feelings or not!’

She tried to get her mind to stop thinking of Inuyasha so she began focusing on the cloths. She found a pair of jeans that looked a little tight, a light blue tank top, and a light blue, thin jacket that went with it.

Putting on the jeans she noticed that they were indeed tight, but not too tight. They fit her comfortably so she didn’t mind. She slipped on the light blue tank top and the matching jacket deciding that it was a bit chilly down stairs.

After making sure that she hadn’t missed anything she went to check herself in the mirror.

‘I still have on the lipstick from the dance, and my hair actually is staying down. I can never get it to stay down, cool. ’

Deciding that she’d keep it the way it was she put the dress flat on her bed and went down stairs.

She smiled when she found Inuyasha sitting on the bottom step of the stairs staring at the off television.

“You know its not on right?” She said grinning at how he jumped at the sound of her voice.

‘So he hadn’t heard me coming down the stairs as fast as I did. He must have been really deep in thought for him not to hear me. ’

“Um...I was just...”

“Spacing out, or in deep thought?”

“Deep thought...” He looked down at the floor.

“Ah...” She said softly trying to figure out what he was starring at.

He snapped his head up and looked at Kagome. He looked at her outfit noticing the slightly tight jeans. He tried to shake all of the unwanted thoughts out of his head and changed his train of thought.

“Are you going back with me tomorrow Kagome?”

“Inuyasha, I’m sorry. I have to stay here for a few days.”

“Why?” He practically whined. Kagome, who was now standing a few feet away from him, seemed to ignore the whining.

“Because Inuyasha, one; I have been invited to go to the mall with my new friends tomorrow, and two; because school is starting soon.”

“You never had a problem with school before.”

“Yes, but this is a new school, and I need to get my schedule and get used to the school layout.”

“But we need you back. Kagome I...”

“What?”

‘I need you back!’ “N...Nothing.”

“You can go back Inuyasha.”

“I...I can’t...”

“Why not?” She asked with genuine concern in her eyes. “Has any thing happened?” She asked softly putting her hand on his shoulder.

“No...no.” Inuyasha found the same spot on the floor that he was starring at earlier and did the same.

“Inuyasha are you okay? And why can’t you go back?” She asked again at the same low soft voice.

“I...can’t go back...without you.” He looked up and met her eyes.

‘Is this real? I must be dreaming,’ She flicked herself on her side with her free hand. ‘No, not dreaming,’ She looked about the room’s ceiling. ‘Okay where are the hidden cameras? This can’t be real. It just can’t be! He’s never acted like this to me before. The three years that I’ve known him, he has never acted like this. Is he okay. I hope that he hasn’t caught anything. ’

She snapped out of her thoughts hearing a small whimper out of him.

“Inuyasha...” His ears shoot up at the sound of his name. He had gotten lost in his thoughts, looking into her eyes. She didn’t want to leave him there, but she did have to make something to eat. “I’m going to go make some ramen for you. Do you want me to make some tea?”

“...”

“I’ll take that as a yes.” She noted seeing no protest in his eyes. She slowly walked past him and went into the kitchen.

‘I could swear that I could see a tear in his eye. And what did he mean that he can’t go back without me? Would he miss me that much? Or is it something beyond that?’
Her thoughts sidetracked on the possibilities.

Without making any sound Inuyasha started helping with washing a pot and filling it with water. Kagome hadn’t even realized that he was there until the water turned on. She spun on her heels to confront the visitor but was relived to see Inuyasha helping.

“Are you sure that your okay Inuyasha?”

“Do you know how many times you’ve asked me that today?”

“No. How many? Four at the most.”

“Three times.”

“Oh. What I can’t worry about you?”

“I’m supposed to be the one looking out for you.” He looked down slightly making his bangs shadow his eyes. Kagome walked over to him and moved them out of the way.

“Inuyasha...I still can worry about my...best friend.” She lifted his chin so that he was looking her straight in the eyes.

Inuyasha grabbed hold of her wrist and move and gave her a hug.

“What the-”

Inuyasha let go and move over to finish his earlier task of washing the new black teapot. Kagome just stood there in a complete daze. Inuyasha decided to change the subject.

“So...how long do you plan to stay here?” He asked hoping to relive some of the awkward tension.

“...”

“Kagome?”

“...a few weeks.” She whispered softly.

“Oh...”

“...”

&# 8220;So can I stay here?”

“Sure...” Kagome suddenly felt dizzy and grabbed onto the counter. She began to sway back and forth trying to keep her balance. This didn’t remain unnoticed by Inuyasha. As soon as she started to sway her ran to her side.

“Kagome? Are you okay? What’s wrong?” He kept asking trying to steady her.

“Wha-”

“Kagome!”

&# 8220;I-I’m fine.” She said getting her grip and footing back. “I just need to...” She noticed the pain and worry in his eyes. “...get some water.”

“I’ll get it. Why don’t you sit down Kagome.” He said more of an order than a request.

“Inuyasha, I’m fine.” She tried to convince him. He wasn’t buying it.

“Here.” He said handing her a glass of water. “You need to eat?”

“Yes I do. I haven’t eaten sense lunch.”

“I can make more ramen.”

“We have no more ramen. I made the last pack for you. It should be done soon.”

“Kagome, you can eat the ramen.”

‘Inuyasha, giving up his ramen? Where is the Inuyasha I know?’

“No Inuyasha, its fine. I can make a sandwich or something.”

“Are you sure Kagome? I’ll be fine if I don’t eat. You, on the other hand need it.”

“Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha looked over to her. “Huh?”

“...What’s happened to you?” Inuyasha almost missed the question because of how soft she said it.

“What do you mean, ‘What’s happened to me? I’m just worried for your safety Kagome...I-” ‘I couldn’t take it if I lost you. ’

“You what?”

“I don’t want to...I don’t want to take care of a sick Kagome! The sicknesses your grandpa states, I don’t want you to really get them.”

“You don’t have to worry about that,” She started to giggle. “Hojo has gotten me enough medicines and items to cure anything!” She paused in hearing a growl from Inuyasha. “Your not jealous are you Inuyasha?” She teased. She fell onto the floor laughing at seeing his reaction. He had visibly gone tense, his fluffy dog ears shot straight up, his eyes had gone big, and his jaw was dropped half way down.

Kagome couldn’t control her laughter now. One of Inuyasha’s eyes and his ears had started twitching. He was trying to find something to say and continuously opened and closed his mouth. The only sounds to come out were small squeaks and noises that made Kagome laugh harder.

“I...I...”

Kagome was taking deep breaths trying to calm down and stop laughing. She had calmed her self until only small bursts of laughter were heard. She got up off the floor and sat back on the chair. She had to keep wiping her eyes to stop the tears that had formed from the hard, loud laughter.

Kagome found that she could not look up at Inuyasha or else she would fall to the floor again. Inuyasha was looking out the window now trying to find the words to say.

“I am not jealous!” The look on his face told differently. Kagome looked up at his face and started all over. She fell back onto the floor holding her stomach laughing.

“Yeah...you......are!” She chocked out between small fits.

Inuyasha turned around to get the ramen before it burned. His face had turned a bright red color. He took the pot off the stove and put it in a bowl. He let it stand a bit to cool of and turned to Kagome.

“Are you done yet!?” He sarcastically asked helping her up off the floor.

“N....no!” She sat down and put her head on her hands trying to control herself.

“Well I glad you find this so funny!”

Kagome stoped her laughing enough to look up at him again. “Well, if you had seen your own face than you would be like I am.” She said breathing slowly, finally regaining her control.

“It wasn’t that funny was it?”

“Yes, yes it was. I’ve known you for three years now, and I’ve never seen that reaction. I was just teasing you.” She got up from the chair and went over to the bowl of ramen.

“What are you doing? I said that I’d finish making it and for you to sit down.”

“Who do you think that your ordering around? I have an idea so we both can eat the ramen.”

“But you said that’s the only pack.”

“Its called splitting it.” She retorted sarcastically.

“But-”

“Inuyasha, will you just shut up and plant yourself down.”

“...” He reluctantly did what he was told. Kagome split the ramen into two bowls and gave one to Inuyasha. She giggled watching him gulp it down.

After watching the hanyou and the miko for a while, a white raven flew out of sight into the dark night sky.

‘Master will be very pleased with the information that I have gathered. I think that I’ve done a great job!’ The raven thought flying in the direction of Konhami High.
