Chapter Fifteen – Inuyasha's Tears for the Dead

An hour later, Inuyasha became a little agitated. I still hadn't returned to the group to continue, and it was getting dark. He twitched.

"Where...is she??" He asked Sango and Sam. They looked at him, then looked around.

"I don't know. She should've calmed down, you guys only had a little tiny dispute. If it caused her to use her blasts on you, then she might need this about of time...but...she should be back by now..." Sam replied, looking at the treetops.

"That's it. We're all going after her." Inuyasha said. "You owe me anyways, and Miroku and Shippo are just going to tag along for the ride anyways."

They all nodded and set off. Inuyasha smelt around for my scent, then they all made it to where I blasted down the trees.

"Wow. She must've gone in there." Sam said. "She must've had some kind of temper to walk far, but I doubt she's ever got this angry before. There must be something that troubled her.

"GrrrrAGH! I KNEW I SHOULD'VE GONE AFTER HER! SHE'S NEVER SAFE ON HER OWN!" Inuyasha said, then silently added, "And it's all my fault if she's in danger or hurt right now."

"Inuyasha. I sense something within the field." Miroku said.

"What? What do you mean?" Inuyasha asked.

"I think someone's hiding where they live." Miroku said, then threw a few of his taleb-like cards into the field, and soon, a large temple appeared in the field. Inuyasha growled, and then ran off into the temple with the others.

Inuyasha burst through the doors, glaring around. He sniffed the air, then looked around, following the scent. He had a disgusted face on him though.

"What's wrong Inuyasha?" Sam asked.

"A mix of scents...that's all.." Inuyasha said. Sam knew that he wasn't letting on to it all, because she had a feeling, and not a really good one, that Inuyasha knew something they all didn't. They followed him as they went through, and then burst through another door, where I lay on the ground, my head upon a matted piece of wood for a pillow, and covered up with a blanket as I lay upon a futon. At my side, was a tub-like thing, with potions and leaves filled within it. On the other side of the tub, was Urasue.

"URASUE?! YOU WERE KILLED!" Inuyasha screeched.

"Yes, I know. I was brought back by my sister. I have done many things, but...instead of bringing back the dead inside clay bodies this time, I shall take the energy and powers from a dead body." Urasue said. Everyone but Inuyasha stepped back with a gasp.

"I knew her body smelled as if it'd died. It takes no time in getting the rotting stench." Inuyasha said.

"She.. sh-she's.....dead?" Sam stuttered. I was her friend, with most importance, and Inuyasha had feelings for me. It must be going hard on him, even though he's not showing it. Though.. it might be rude, but Sam couldn't help but think in the back of her mind, 'How will I get home?'

"You won't get away with this! Hiraikotsu!" Sango shouted. Her boomerang went forth, but hit the tub over, causing it to rot away at the floor. It edged closer to me, as I lay there. Inuyasha jumped forward and grabbed me, holding me within the blanket, wrapped up, then jumped back. Sango caught her boomerang, cursing for missing the target.

"Here, hold onto her while I take care of Urasue." Inuyasha said, and laid me down in front of Sango, still wrapped. Inuyasha went forth. "Everyone out. This place is going to go down." Everyone then exited and went to a safe distance as Inuyasha pulled out Tetsusaiga. "WINDSCAR!" The whole building collapsed. He jumped out through the roof, and Urasue went out her own way.

"If you think you can kill me that way, think again. I'm clay you know. Think of that as an up side. Now die!" Urasue said, and then out of no where, claw warriors went forth. Inuyasha killed them all, as they kept coming.

"I'm getting tired of this! I didn't come here to play with dolls!" Inuyasha said. He jumped up, and went for Urasue. He slashed at her, but she dodged. That went on for a bit, Inuyasha slashed, she dodged.

"I sense a great power.. like a jewel shard, in Urasue." Miroku said.

"Hmm....maybe Inuyasha should get help. They've been like that for a while." Sango said. Inuyasha then slashed forth and Urasue's left arm flew into the air and in front of Sam and Sango.

"Better not." Sam said, grimacing at the clay arm.

"You will not defeat me stupid half demon!" Urasue screeched. Inuyasha went after her, slicing at her with Tetsusaiga.

"I chopped off your arm didn't I?" Inuyasha asked. He stopped chasing after her, and stood still as she stood, several yards in front of him. He lifted his swords above his head. "Windscar!" He brought his sword to the ground, and several deadly flaming streaks went for Urasue, and since she was made of clay, the attack hit, and she crumbled into a bunch of tiny pieces. Inuyasha watched as she screeched to nothing, and then her soul was off, flying in the air for another resting place. Inuyasha grabbed the jewel shard and played with it in his fingers.

"Got her! Yeah!" Shippo cheered. He looked at everyone. They were sad, and looking down, Sango holding back tears. Miroku put both hands on his staff as he chanted and prayed within the bindings of his mind. Sam stood, and thought about the good times she had with me...how I went over to her house that one time, and when we emailed back and forth almost every day of the summer before I was sent off for the summer foreign exchange program. How we used to fool around so much in elementary school, and how I would always chase after the boys for some odd reasons. Shippo looked a little sadly at Inuyasha, who stood where he was before, his sword out to the side, fully in view in his left hand as he looked down. He clenched a fist.

"Inuyasha?" Shippo asked, as he scurried over. Inuyasha's bangs shaded his eyes.

"Leave me alone Shippo." Inuyasha said. He put Tetsusaiga in its sheath, and then turned around to see the others. They were all looking pretty dreary, and besides Sango, they all looked on the edge of tears. He glanced at my corpse, then walked over. Sango turned away from him, and he lifted the bundle I was in up into the air.

"Inu..yasha?" Sango asked. "What are you..?"

"I'm taking her with me. I'm going to see if Kaede can do anything. Meet me there." Inuyasha said, then dashed off. If he could he would've just went on a killing spree, but he couldn't help but be upset about everything...he just couldn't show it.

He made his way to Kaede's hut, and barged through the matted doorway. Kaede looked up at him and gasped, and immediately ordered him to put me onto the futon.

"What has ye gotten ye-self into now Inuyasha?" Kaede asked.

"Urasue killed her." Inuyasha said.

"But...she was..." Kaede started.

"Urasue was revived, and I just killed her again." Inuyasha muttered. He turned away and sat down against the wall, closing his eyes and folding his arms. "Anything you can do?"

"Not much. Urasue must've poisoned her, for she shows no sign of blood loss. The most we all can do is put an antidote down her throat, and wait for the best. Myouga would work for this job." Kaede said. She grabbed a liquid nearby and then slowly poured it into my mouth. "I will go out for herbs. Ye may stay." And with that, she hobbled out.

Inuyasha sat where he was for a bit, then he looked out the door, and then scooted over to me. He starred down thinking, 'Why couldn't I have sensed the danger earlier? She would still be alive if I had gone after her. Then again, I shouldn't blame myself....or I should. If I didn't get her mad, she wouldn't have stomped off. Oh, if I could see her eyes again. I've never seen that color before. That's what made her stand out from the others...she had an odd eye color. A mix between them all, making them vibrant. I think she called them hazel when she was still traveling back and forth from future Japan to here. Hazel...I will never see that color again.'

He slowly reached out, hesitant, and stroked the top of my head with his hand. He hoped I would awaken. My eyes would open and welcome him so they could continue their journey. A hug or something would come as some kind of reward for caring about her safety. He smirked at a thought of a reward. My hair was still soft, and it flared out around my head, getting lighter as the light hit it, but that was odd. When I first came, it was lighter than what it became...as if instead of getting lighter in the heat, it became darker. It would shine a lot in the sun beams, and my smile was something else shining he loved to see.

I would always be so happy, and my eyes would sparkle as I smiled at him. Or when I was embarrassed, my blush would look so adorable, especially when I was sitting with the bottom of my feet touching, and my head in between my raised shoulders, where my hands rested in the circle my legs made. And when I was upset, you could tell. My eyes became glaring and disappointed in the world. When it made me cry, it made him become a bit soft. He hated that, but, who could really not want to make me stop crying...it was so depressing. No one noticed, but his ears would always flatten down when he heard me crying. He wanted to comfort me. Then when I was angry, you could tell, and not because of the angle of my eye brows. My eyes looked like flames, and my mouth would be strained, and I would say anything...even calling him a mutt would come out of my mouth when I was angry. That's when you had to step back, and hide for the sake of your life. Then that's when my hand came up above his head. I still didn't figure it out that I had the power of sitting him, and he was pretty glad. He had less neck aches, but more headaches.

Inuyasha sighed as he remembered all of those fond memories. He blinked a bit, when he felt his eyes watering, and held back. His hand stroked again, then went to my temple, and soon his fingertips were sliding down the side of my face. He with drew at the touch, how my skin had become so cold and dreary. I was starting to pale. He couldn't really take it much longer. His eyes were teared, and one finally escaped, landing on his lap. He wiped the streak away, along with clamping the eye shut and wiping it dry. He looked down at my face once more, and then reached out and pulled me to his embrace, me sitting on his crossed legs, as he held me to him. His left arm around my waist, reaching over me, and then his right arm underneath my upper body, where he held my head. He pulled my head to his chest and he held onto me tightly.

"I'm.....sorry." He whispered. Then it occurred that he had to get away. He picked me up bridal style, holding my closer than usual against him, and then dashed out, and leapt into the air, going tree to tree. He came across a cliff with high grass, so he leapt into the grass, wear an opening was made as the stems broke and created an indent to be there. He never really cared that he was crying and carrying around a dead body, just that the soul that was within the body would know what he's doing before it left to its final resting place.

Soul collectors came near him. He grimaced and held tighter onto my corpse. He looked around. He pulled out Tetsusaiga with this right hand, then slashed around him, while holding onto me. He stabbed the sword into the ground.

"Kikyo can have any soul she wants to keep alive...just not this one." Inuyasha growled at them. Myouga sat on his shoulder.

"Master Inuya-" Myouga started, but was then hit, and he slowly hovered down, onto my shoulder.

"Myouga. What are you doing here? Can't you see I want to be alone?" Inuyasha said, quickly hiding any evidence that he was crying.

"Yes. But...If I could be of assistance before it's too late?" Myouga asked.

"No. She's going to die anyways. I'd rather have it that she didn't die with a flea bite." Inuyasha snapped, and flicked Myouga into the air.

An hour or so later, Myouga climbed up silently and unseen to my neck. He looked at Inuyasha, who was looking off at the view. Good. His plan would work. He stuck his needle nose into my neck, and sucked out the poison. He was more visible now, but anyway, he bowed.

"Good day Master Inuyasha." He muttered, then leapt off out of sight before Inuyasha turned his head.

Meanwhile, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Sam made it to Kaede's village. They looked around, until Kaede was in view, then ran up to her.

"How is she?" Sam asked.

"She was poisoned. She should be with Inuyasha in my hut. I do warn ye to enter with caution and Inuyasha's consent if ye cherish ye lives." Kaede said, and followed them to her hut. Sam knocked on the wall by the door.

"Inuyasha, can I come in?" She asked. No reply. She looked through the doorway and gasped. "No one's in there."

"What? Impossible! I just-" Kaede said, and looked for herself. "Well I'll be... Inuyasha must've wanted to be alone with her soul before it goes to the other side."

"What should we do?" Sango asked.

"It's best if we go to look for them, but keep a distance so Inuyasha won't have our heads for spying and ruining his farewell later on." Miroku said, giving his intelligent closed eyes look. Then they set off. Hours later, they spotted him and hid in bushes that would cover their scent.

Inuyasha sat there, and watched as my face grew paler and I felt colder. When he thought I couldn't be any more white and cold, I stopped. I was an off white color, and it was a bit colored up now. My whole body felt cold and clay-like. Inuyasha stroked my hair, and felt my cheeks for warmth. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't help bit cry a bit. He had to say the words, but he couldn't bear it. He slowly held me close, since I was just laying there in front of him, my head on his lap before. He took a deep breath, and then he looked at my face.

"G...Good-bye....Andrea....." He whispered, as if it was some kind of secret. Picked me up bridal style once again, for the last time in his mind. He went off, going to one spot that he remembered so well. He landed where he gave me the link necklace. He slowly put me down, and then started digging a hole. It wasn't very deep, but it would be good enough. He looked around, and grabbed leaves, and put them all into the hole. Then he picked me up, and laid me down inside. He took off his red haori, then covered me up with it. He stood there and looked down. My final resting place. "She would've wanted to be here..." Inuyasha walked off, a bit, wiping his face. He couldn't leave this place with me just laying there. Kikyo might try to take her soul again....demons might come take the corpse and devour it.

He thought about what might happen, and then ran over and sat down beside me. My soul and corpse would be safe as long as he stayed nearby. He looked off the cliff, at the horizon. It was sunset. Time to sleep...but he couldn't. He couldn't help it...but he had to rest. He laid down, and noticed something. The link necklace he gave her. The sunset was hitting the diamonds on it, and there was a light going and reflecting around her, where you could see that the body had put a barrier around itself. Inuyasha wanted to smile...but it really wasn't the occasion. He fell asleep, a little reassured that the barrier would protect her if he wasn't able to.

"FOLLOW HIM!" Sam shouted.

"Okay okay! We will! We will!" Miroku reassured. They set off on Kirara, and watched on the cliff from a distance. "The body has put a barrier around itself."

"Whoa." Shippo whispered. Then soon later after watching for a long time....it was dark. They set up camp where they were, and was sure to make sure that the fire was dim, so Inuyasha wouldn't see. They put out the fire and watched by moonlight.

"Hey check it out!!" Sam said, pointing to the top where they were watching. There was a streak of light going straight to the sky.

"What does that mean Miroku?" Sango asked.

"I don't know. Maybe the powers she has or hasn't discovered are trying to free themselves now that she's passed on." Miroku replied. The next thing you know, Inuyasha was sitting up looking at the barrier, and his eyes followed the streak up, making him jump back and then stand.

"What the...what's going on?!" Inuyasha managed. The barrier now disappeared. My corpse slowly rose into the air, from the chest area, as if my necklace was pulling me up into the air. A faint glow appeared around me, as lights from the necklace went into the air.

"Master Inuyasha. There is no need to be alarmed." Myouga said, as Miroku, Sam, Sango, and Shippo ran up behind Inuyasha.

"You guys?! Myouga?! What's going on?!" Inuyasha said.

"I sucked out the poison, but the body still believes it's dead. Her powers are now trying to revive her body, since it knows she's still alive." Myouga said.

"She's still....She's... alive?!" Inuyasha asked.

"If that is so, and the powers are trying to revive her, then... how much good is it doing when she's floating in the air, and lights are coming from her necklace?" Miroku asked.

"It is because her powers are calling to the other side, saying that her soul is not yet ready to leave." Myouga explained. "In other words, it's telling the other side that her soul is reviving.

"We're repeating ourselves here." Sam muttered.

They all watched as my corpse slowly spun, and then it looked like they were souls, but they weren't, they were the jewels of my powers, as they shot out of me, and then spun in the air, before they dashed into my chest, making my body glowing brightly. All of the lights slowly disappeared and my body fell quickly. Inuyasha dashed out, and caught me.

I groaned a bit to wake up, and gasps and silent claps were heard. My eyes fluttered open, and I seen Inuyasha smiling kinder than ever down at me. I smiled back, and looked at everyone smiling at me, and Sam and Sango winked at me as they edged back and out of sight, pulling Miroku and Shippo with them.

"Inu...yasha? Where am I?" I asked. His smile started to slowly fade, and he looked at the view. I turned to look at it.

"I'm here...We're at the cliff where I gave you the link necklace. It's morning right now." He replied to me. I looked at how I was positioned at looked at Inuyasha.

"Alright..but you can let me down now. I'm fine." I said. He looked at me, blushed, and quickly let me down. I giggled a bit, and he blushed a bit more. I leaned up against him, my right arm on his back and my left hand on his chest. I leaned my head on him. He seemed to keep getting red. He looked behind us, then around us, quickly and nervously. I smiled, because he always gave me that face when I was scaring him when I was so angry. When he realized no one but us was there, probably because he didn't notice the others leaving like I did, he relaxed from being so tense. He put his left arm around me, since that was the side I was on.

"Inuyasha...what happened, I mean, after I went off into the forest?" I asked. We looked at each other. His smile he had dawned just moments before it was a frown.

"You were poisoned and killed by a demon after you went through the trees...into that field. I killed the demon, and brought you here. Your powers pretty much revived you." Inuyasha said, looking as far away from me as possible. He was tense again. Though what he said dropped onto me like a bomb.

"I was...killed?" I asked, nervous. I felt my hands started to shake...by breathing quickened. How could it happen? I'm fine! I'm alive right now so how could I have been dead? I watched as he closed his eyes and looked down. I took a deep breath, and nodded. He gripped onto me tighter. "How? I’m alive.....I never felt dead...."

"Your powers." He replied. I felt my eyes start to water. Great. I didn't really need to cry at the moment. But I couldn't help it...

Inuyasha Point of View....

She looked really shocked as she stood there....I didn't know what I could do, if there even was anything I could do. She quivered. My tight grip on her to reassure her didn't help her calm down. That's when I smelled them....tears.

I looked down at her...she was looking somewhere off ward, and anyone could tell she was fighting it off so she didn't cry...She was trying not to cry.

"It's alright...go ahead..." I whispered. I couldn't believe I just said that. She seemed to of gasped a bit herself. She looked up at me and smiled a bit, but it quickly faded, and she hugged me, not from the side where she was, but the front, like a normal hug. I hugged her back. Her hair was soft, especially after all that tousle it went through. I heard her crying...even though she was crying into my haori, I could hear her.

Sam's Point of View...

"Awwwwwe look at them they're hugging!!" I said. I looked over at Miroku. He was starring at them. He suddenly turned to me...there was a hint of idea's in his eye. I looked at the fuming Sango. I held in a laugh.

"It's good that she's alive...I'm sure Inuyasha's rejoicing in his mind." Miroku said. I nodded.

"Yeah...I'm surprised they haven't erm....you know what-ed yet." Sam said. Miroku blushed and nodded as he quickly turned away. Sango fumed even more, which started to scare Shippo, who was playing with Kirara. Then we all decided to head on up there.

Regular Point of View...

Inuyasha stroked my head slightly. He sniffed the air and turned around.

"GAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!! IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!" Inuyasha said, pushing me away. I fell to the ground, and looked up puffy eyed at everyone, especially Inuyasha.

"It's okay Inuyasha...Go ahead and comfort the poor girl, she's trembling, and by the looks of it, cried the front of your haori wet." Miroku said. Inuyasha blushed and looked at the front of his haori, there was a small wet spot where my tears soaked it.

"I...gahh.. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!! WE WEREN'T DOING ANYTHING!" Inuyasha retorted. He looked angry, and nervous, and he tried hard to avoid my gaze upon him. How could he deny it? He is so hopeless. And....boom, boiling blood.

"WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!" I shouted. I stood myself up.

"Geh? Ehhhhh....I DON'T KNOW!!" Inuyasha shouted.

"THEN WHY DID YOU SAY IT?!?!" I asked, walking over to him. He looked a bit scared. He sweat dropped.

"Ehhhhhhhhh......" Inuyasha started....I put a hand out to him, and he was blasted into a tree. I nodded in satisfaction, then I turned to Sam.

"Should we head home? This is getting too hectic for me." I asked. She nodded, seeing the glare from Sango, and the current position Inuyasha was in. She held up a jewel shard, and I headed off home.
