It is far into the future. Humans have evolved into three distinct forms. The first: Gene Liner (GLi). The most evolved of the three species. They are the result of fusing human DNA with alien technology. They exist as spaceships and can pass through the void of space with no assistance. They are the greatest sensation in human history. The second: Gene Major (GMa). They are humanoid in form but with evolved genetics. As a result of their evolution they exist as male and female in the same body, and many of them are quite good looking. They are the priveleged ruling class of society. TThe third: Gene Minor (GMi). They have evolved very little, and are the lowest of the three species. They make up the largest population segment. The story begins with the Gene Liner Lone Balt and her crew, all employees of Baltliner. Lone Balt is the fastest and most superior clipper (high-speed long-distance patrol/touring vehicle) and she has the ability to charm and overwhelm all those who see her. Lone Balt is the star and symbol of Baltliner, the giant corporation which has halved the world. Baltliner's primary competitor is the Geeth Shipping Company, a corporation equal in power to that of Baltliner. Belta Geeth, the second fastest clipper after Lone Balt, is a Gene Liner attached to Geeth Shipping. Both companies are largely influential and powerful in the area.
