Slow starting shoujo that packs an emotional punch
Okay first of all this is an 'idol' type shoujo meaning you're going to hear a lot of Jpop, and if you can't deal with hearing the same three or four songs over and over again... this might not be the best anime for you. But the later songs are really emotional and once you see the scenes that really make these songs shine you'll bawl whenever you listen to it.

The story starts out about a 12 year old girl who has cancer in her throat but wants to be a singer. She's visited by two shinigami (basically cute grim reapers) and she can see them which is not normal. They get freaked out and blurt out that she only has a year left to live so she decides to persue singing with all of her heart with some help from the male shinigami who gives her power to transform into a 16 year old with no health problems.

And that's how it starts, but the plot goes deeper than that as you find out why she wants to sing in the first place. Just about every single character grows in the space of the 52 episodes and though it starts off sort of slow and cliche, towards the middle of the series it starts to pick up steam and really throws you on an emotional roller coaster. This one should be considered by all fans of shoujo. Just be sure to bring plenty of tissues for the ride.
