Artist's Commentary
If you buy some of the Host Club tankoban, you'll notice that chapters of Bisco Hatori's failed "Love Egoist" are occassionally tacked on at the end. I was thinking of a recurring character, Sumire, and how much I liked her. I also noted that Hatori's character design tends to be extremely similar throughout her other work. Anyway, I couldn't remember what Sumire's uniform looked like (she's a high school student, if I'm not mistaken), so I just drew a little sailor suit with a touch of bare midriff like Haruhi had in her M.S. photos. I didn't think I needed to add "Love Egoist" as a manga series just for this work, so I stuck it under Ouran. Oh, and I scanned it and used a photocopy of an old Batman & Robin comic for tones. It's nothing special, but it makes me feel like I do SOMETHING other than read here. :p |
