Matthew paused and looked back at her. "Do you want to?"

She pushed her hair back. "I've missed you..."

His face softened as he heard those words. "I've missed you as well."

"I...want to be part of your life again...and I want Alison to be part of it as well..." Alice said in a low voice.

There was a moment where he considered what she was saying. Taking a step forward, he nodded. "You can come back to our room."

She smiled softly. Throwing the covers back she stood slowly and started grabbing some of Alison's things.

"Sit your ass back down," he ordered. "What part of no moving for at least a day don't you understand?"

Alice froze. "I want to move back to the room now," she said and slowly started to sit back on the bed with her arms full of diapers and clothes.

"I'll move all of Alison's stuff to my room. Then I will come to move you."

She put the stuff down. "Ask Sammy to help you and bring Alison to me. I haven't really got much time with her since I've been sleeping." She looked at the clock. It was nearly morning. Why was everyone up anyways?

"Yes ma'am." He smirked. Going downstairs, he and Sammy returned to move things. Sammy looked cheerful, almost smug when he handed Alison back to Alice.

"I see you worked everything out," he whispered while Matthew started to move stuff into his room.

"I hope you are ok with this...I'm sorry you're in the middle," she said softly as she pulled Alison to her. She finally noticed the bandage on her from where Matthew had to open her air ways to get her to breathe when she was born.

Sammy smiled and caressed her cheek. "It's no problem. She needs her father. Her real father."

"Sammy, help me with the crib," Matthew said. He'd put most of Alison's stuff in the crib to save them some time.

Alice watched the two of them constantly walk in and out of Sammy's room. They took all of the girl things, leaving the boy things for Sammy to return. Alice laid down with a yawn, placing Alison next to her. Alison was so tiny and she was premature and Alice worried she might have development problems. But her breathing was strong and she seemed to be eating well enough. With a hand softly resting her on her daughter, Alice closed her eyes and tried not to fall asleep while the men moved the baby things.

After they had moved everything, Matthew came back for his daughter and Alice. "Sammy, you carry Alison," he said, holding out his hands for his daughter.

Alice sat up. "I can walk and carry Alison," she said and she lifted Alison and held her closely. Alison shifted in her sleep, her lips moved about like she was trying to suck on something. "I need a pacifier."

Matthew nodded. Searching through the bags he pulled out one and handed it to her. "You don't need to walk, Alice. You could end up tearing something down there right now." He looked away, stifling a yawn. It was going to be hell going to work tomorrow.

Alice put the pacifier in Alison's mouth and she sucked on it while she slept. Slowly she handed her over to Sammy who took her without question. She then let Matthew lift her in his arms and they were carried to the room. "I feel helpless."

"No, you feel about about thirty pounds lighter," Matthew smirked as he held her. Taking her down to his room, he gently set her on the bed before taking Alison from Sammy and placing her back into Alice's arms. Yawning, Matthew sat down beside them both and stretched. "Sleep sounds good..."

"I have to call Brian and get a nap before school. You know that I'm just down the hall if you need me."

"Thank you, Sammy....for everything you've done," she said. He smiled then left, closing the door. Alice pulled the bassinet over to the side of the bed and placed Alison in it then turned to Matthew. "Now that Sammy has stepped down...it's up to you to by the things she needs," she said. She laid down, and stared at Alison in her bassinet. Her fingers brushed her black hair. "My God she looks just like you..."

Matthew pulled his shirt off and kicked his shoes off. He was exhausted. He had been up since six the previous morning so he was about ready to pass out. "So she's devilishly handsome?" He smirked as he closed his eyes, trying hard not to pass out.

Alice smiled. "Not exactly." She rolled over, finally leaving the sleeping baby to sleep. She laid on Matthew's chest. Though it was nearly sunrise, the whole night had been hard. She fell, induced labor, had a premature baby, nearly killed it, slept, fought about who would be the father, slept some more, decided who would be the father, and now...she was going to sleep again. Happy Birthday, Alison.

Matthew wrapped his arms around her, already he was asleep.

Sammy waited a few minutes before going back into their room. The entire family was sound asleep. With a small smile, he reached over and unplugged Matthew's alarm clock. They could all sleep in today.

Going back to his room, he collapsed on the bed, looking over at Brian's picture with a smile before falling asleep.

As soon as Alison started crying, Alice was up. The sun was hot on her face as she reached over and grabbed Alison to feed her. She looked at Matthew then at the clock that was unplugged. Lightly she pushed him as Alison loudly sucked and cooed. "Matthew...it's morning and I don't know what time it is."

Matthew moaned as she pushed him. "I want to sleep," he moaned.

She smiled at him and stroked his cheek for a minute. "Alison needs a diaper change. You have to get up."

Matthew shifted slightly, his eyes opening when he realized where he was and what happened. "Alison...our daughter." Yawning, he shifted and sat up. Looking at the clock, he groaned. "Work..."

Alice's heart fell. That was right. Sammy was at work study and Matthew had to go to work. She would be all alone with Alison. Slowly she pulled Alison from her and started burping her. "Can you grab a diaper and some wipes?" she asked as she laid Alison down to change her. Thank God she read all those books while she was pregnant.

Looking back at Alison, he nodded. Going over, he grabbed diapers and wipes. "Here, let me do it. I think, I can skip a day of work."

Alice smiled and handed Alison to her father so he could change her on the changing table. "That would be nice..."

He nodded slowly. Laying her down on the changing table, and taking off her diaper, he held his breath while wiping her and getting her cleaned up. After which he put a new diaper on her. From there he just proceeded to cradle her in his arms.

"Mine!" Alice said holding her hands in the air for Alison. "You had all day yesterday with her and if I have to sit in this bed, I want to hold her."

Matthew smirked and stuck out his tongue. "No walking for you; and so she's mine." He snickered.

She crossed her arms and pouted. "No fair! I gave birth to her so I should get dibs!"

He smirked, walking over to her he handed her their daughter, kissing both their foreheads before going to the door. "I have to call work. I'll be back in a few."

She nodded and smiled at Alison as Matthew left. "Mean old Daddy tried to hog you. I'll show him," she said. Alison just stared up at her while sucking on her pacifier. Alice covered her in kisses while she blinked over and over. "What would the Hatter say if he saw you?" Alice whispered. "Maybe...one day...you will make it to Wonderland..."

After calling his work, he checked outside, noticing the unmarked car sitting out by the street. They were closing in, keeping tabs on him to make certain that he didn't do anything. Not that he would, but it still disturbed him. With them keeping tabs, it would be hard for Alice to do anything.

Going upstairs, he smiled when he saw Alice and his daughter. "You're both beautiful."

She looked over at him with a smiled. "When will I be able to get out of bed?" she asked. "I can't wait to take Alison outside. I don't want her to stay cooped up like I had to for six years." She hugged Alison to her and kissed her shoulder while rubbing her back. "Why don't you open the windows and let the summer breeze in?"

"I'll let you walk in a day or two," he promised. "Until then you stay in bed."

She nodded. "Open the window then. So I don't feel trapped."

He nodded. The window over looked the backyard so it should be okay. "Alison shouldn't be outside for at least two weeks, maybe more," he explained. "And we need to figure out what we're going to do with you."

Yes, that was right...Alison was premature she shouldn't be out for a while. Alice looked up at him. "Me?" Then it hit her...she was still on the run.

He nodded slowly. "For whatever reason the cops are looking into me, which means that if they look too close they'll find you. So, we need to figure out what to do. Give you a new identity of sorts."

Alice looked at her golden locks spread over her shoulders and Alison. It was the same color as her mother's hair. "We can cut and dye my hair..."

He shook his head. "That would only solve the problem of who you look like." Reaching out, he caressed her cheek, pushing her hair behind her ear. "We need to create a whole new identity for you so you can come and go as you please and so that...." There was a pause as he shook his head. They never did finish their marriage talk; and quite frankly he wasn't in the mood for it now.

She eyes danced on his face. What was he going to say? Why didn't he finish? She shifted Alison as the baby looked at her. She was so tiny...so very small and fragile. She couldn't weigh more than five or so pounds. Alison batted her eyes sleepily and Alice kissed her forehead. Slowly she put her in the bassinet with a pacifier then turned back to Matthew. Grabbing his hand, she pulled him down to sit next to her. When was the last time they kissed? When was the last time they really were intimate? Was it all the night she told him she was keeping Alison?

"I'll do anything you want me to do."

Matthew looked at her, his eyes seemed distant, as if he was on a whole other world. When he finally did seem to come to, he offered her the faintest of smiles. "I'll see if Sammy knows someone who can forge some records for you. Make you into someone else. That way if the cops do take a closer look, you'll just be another person."

Alice looked away. A whole other person... She didn't know if she could be another person. She liked being Alice. She liked the name her parents gave her and she liked that Alison's name sounded like hers. "Alright."

There was a slow nod as he laid back on the bed and yawned. "I guess I'll have to talk to him when he gets back from classes."

Alice sat back as well. "Ok." It was silent for a while. Nothing could be heard but the small breeze and the flapping of covers. "I'm hungry," she said to kill the silence.

"What do you want?" He didn't bother opening his eyes when he asked that. He was nearly about to fall asleep again. It felt good.

"Whatever is in there," she said. She leaned over the bassinet staring at Alison and lightly moved her hand just above her little nose to see if she was still breathing. Would Matthew have to do some work on her since she was so small? Would she need to be put on machines?

He smirked when he sat up and saw her checking on Alison. "She's fine," he assured her. "My preliminary exam showed that aside from being obviously premature, she's fairly healthy."

"But she's so very small," Alice whispered while she hung over Alison. Alison yawned and stretched, her little hands curling and her pacifier falling from her lips. Her eyes batted as she looked up at Alice. Alison was curious...and that trait alone made Alice so very happy. "Oh, I do hope she goes to Wonderland someday," she said. Her hand bushed Alison's cheek. "The Hatter would love to see her. Though...I would have to set rules...of course."

Matthew's breath caught slowly as he looked at her. "I didn't think that you could see the Hatter again."

"I've decided to bring him back," she said softly. "Even if it means that I can never return to Wonderland..." She pressed her lips to Alison's forehead. "There is something here so much more precious to me."

Matthew stood up slowly and started for the door. "I will go and get you something to eat," he said softly. As he descended the stairs, he watched as the tinted windows of the car across the street began to roll up. They were still watching him. Fixing her something to eat took longer than he intended because he was listening to the news which Sammy had left on.

Turning off the television, he went back upstairs, handing her a sandwich and some left over noodles.

Alice smiled at him. "Thank you," she said. Looking Alison over a little more, she pulled her rabbit over to her and put her in the bassinet. Instantly Alison started gumming the ears. Alice smiled and began to eat while her daughter sucked on the rabbit's ears.

"I didn't ever think that you would give the rabbit to anyone." He was honestly amazed by what he just saw.

"Alison is not just anyone," she said honestly. "I think that it's time I let go of those things in Wonderland...though I love the so much...I just have more important adventures. I think it's Alison's turn to travel to another world."

He was highly skeptical of that, but he knew from experience that it was much easier to let Alice dream than to try and bring her back down to earth. "I think she's much too young to be doing any adventuring right now."

"You are never too young to have an adventure."

"Nor are you too old for murder," he whispered to himself. Shaking his head, he stood and stretched. "I'm afraid that there is someplace I need to go. I'll swing by Sammy's class to see if he can't fix you a new identity."

"You are leaving? But it hasn't even been a full day since your daughter was born!" she objected. "And I...can't do this alone..."

Matthew paused as he looked back at her. "You know a lot more about children then I ever will," he said with a smile.

"You said I couldn't get out of bed."

He frowned. "You can't. You could tear something."

"Then how will I change her? Or help her if something's wrong?"

He hadn't considered that.... Running his fingers through his hair, he nodded slowly. "Okay.... I guess it can wait till Sammy get's back. Yes, it's only a few hours. It should be fine."

She sighed. "Why are you so ready to leave us?"

His face softened. She didn't understand. She was much like a child herself. If she didn't get what she wanted she pouted. "It is not as if I won't be returning. I am simply taking it upon myself to do what is necessary."

"It's necessary to stay with me and Alison. We just fixed things and I just gave birth. You shouldn't leave me here for at least a week... You haven't even kissed me!" she said in a pout.

His lips curled as he cupped her face and pressed his lips to hers. "Better?"

"It's a start," she said softly.
