It all started weeks ago, when they were trapped in the crystalline cave in Ba Sing Se. Katara had “merely” slipped and Zuko had “merely” broken her fall.
Well, that would have been true, if he had not “merely” caught her with his lips and if the accidental kiss had not escalated from there. Weird things happen though.
At first they had been too shocked to move. Katara was lying on top of Zuko, her hands grasping his shoulders, her body pressed tightly against the fire prince.
Zuko, who was in no better condition than Katara, was laying flat on the hard ground, he was still grasping the girls waist from a last ditch effort to catch her and
prevent their fall.

It was Zuko who finally acted, he tilted his head slightly and deepened the kiss. Much to Katara’s surprise, she also responded. Her hands gently slid up to
cup Zuko’s face and her eyes slowly fluttered closed. Soft lips caressed and two bodies held each other tightly as they gave into the steadily building heat.
Gradually, the kiss became rough and furious as the two imprinted their taste on each other. A silky wet tongue escaped Zuko’s mouth and begged the water
bender for entrance. Cinnamon assaulted Katara’s taste buds when she accepted the advanced kiss. Zuko moaned and pulled Katara closer before rolling them
over. His hands moved to a push-up position beside her head and his knees framed her hips, pushing his arousal against her.

They would have gone further, with the taste and feel of the other driving them on, but a loud bang had them scrambling away from each other in panic.
“What was that?” Katara asked, not quite sure whether she meant the kiss or the noise. “I...I think it was earthbending,” Zuko said, standing up on shaking legs.
“Are they coming back?” Katara asked. “I’m not sure.” Zuko walked to the entrance of their prison and pressed his ear against the wall, hoping for some warning,
only to be forced to hurriedly step backwards to avoid falling forward when the stone collapsed into the ground.

“Katara!” Aang exclaimed, practically tackling the poor girl. Zuko watched them, feeling unexpected jealousy for the avatar who could so easily be with
Katara. Zuko knew, even if he could be with Katara, which was unlikely, she would not be happy with him in the Fire Nation’s palace, nor would he be happy in
the small water tribe village. They were like the moon and the sun. Never could the moon and sun share the same sky, never could he and Katara share a life or a
bed. Resigned to his place in life, Zuko turned from the heart breaking scene.
