Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar or any of the characters that are mentioned in the story. I also apologize if there are any similarities in my stories to any other stories, but I can assure that I thought of this plot entirely myself. Matter of fact, I thought of it when I was watching the season 3 finale of Avatar. Don't really know how it happened. It just kind of did.

~Zenaida~

I followed the tall middle aged man through the various hallways and corridors of this vast palace. Everything was colored either red, brown, or black. But not the exact same shades of red, brown, or black. You know, different kinds. I really was more of a bright colored person but I guess I could live in the prescence of these dull walls.

" Familiarize yourself with the way Zenaida." the man who was leading me said in his rugged voice. His wavy and unruly brown hair was set in a ponitail on top of his slightly chubby face. He wore the same little red outfits that the guards around the palace wore with the sword wrapped snuggly behind his back. Turning a final corner, we ended up at a two oak double doors. At this point, the man in front turned around to face me. " Do not forget to bow in front of the Prince, is that understood?"

After a quick nod, he began to reach for the door handle, but then pulled away and turned back around to face me.

" Also, do not speak unless your spoken to, is that understood as well?" the rough statement was followed by a scratchy cough. I nodded once again and he knocked on the left door.

" What?" an irritated voice called from inside the room. The man gave a little jump from the sharpness in the question, but retieved his composure and cleared his throat.

" Prince Zuko, I have your new servant waiting." the man called back and glanced at me once over his shoulder before turning back to the closed doors.

" Come in, then." the voice said and the man glanced once more back at me before opening the door. I followed him quietly in the room and seen what looked like a teengae boy staring out of the window with his back turned to us. I could tell that he had thick dark hair and wore an outfit similar to the guards but of a more finer quality. The room consisted of nothing but a bed, a couple of tables, and one or two chests. Once again the room was red and brown. Very creative and colorful.

The teenage boy turned around and I could see that he had this nasty little scar on his left eye. Either than that, he really didn't look too bad. The man beside me cleared his throat and I gave him a suspicous look because he kept tiliting his head down. I finally understood that I had to bow and dropped to my knees as fast as I could. I think I dropped a little too fast because my knees hit the red carpeted floor hardly but I closed my eyes to keep in the wince. The man followed my lead, and I could hear the prince chuckle.

" Is that all, Yao?" the prince asked the man beside me who I guess name's Yao. Since my face was pretty much touching the carpet, I couldn't see what the Prince was doing, but I could hear him walking around.

" Yes, Prince Zuko." Yao said, sounding slightly scared and bold at the same time. I could hear the footsteps end I raised my eyes a bit to see his pointy little shoes right in front of my face.

" Then you are dismissed." Prince Zuko said and Yao jumped to his feet. With a quick bow before Zuko, he turned around and left the room, leaving me with this stranger.

I began to sweat when I stayed in the same bowing position for what seemed like eternity before the prince walked away.

" Stand." he commanded and I slowly got to my feet, relief hitting my aching knees and back. I observed his room once more and seen that it smelled something....something like paper. Yeah, paper. You know that bland smell? Mhhm, that one. I intertwined my finers together and held them against my pelvic area as I kept my eyes down. Remember, good servants never make eye contact unless told to or have a good reason to. Otherwise, keep your eyes down or focused on your work.

" What is your name?" he asked before turning around and sitting in a chair that accompanied a desk in the corner. I could feel his eyes studying me and was extremely tempted to study his own features a little more, but I dare not get punished on the first day. I think I took too long to answer because he commanded in an even more fiercer tone, " I asked you your name, sevant!"

I was startled by his hard voice and jumped a little before answering back quickly, " Zenaida, Prince Zuko." It ended coming out a little loud and like a shriek in my suprise at his harsh tone.

" Go fetch me my uncle, servant girl." he said and turned around to his desk where he began to write something on a piece of parchment.

" Yes, Prince Zuko." I managed to stammer and quickly bowed before exiting his room.

Ooh, what a mean prince. Kind of scary too. But I guess I'll have to live with this. I mean, it was either be his servant or work in the kitchen washing dishes and I refuse to have pruned fingers for the rest of my life. Now, if I can only find out who his uncle is. Did he really expect me to know each and every person in his family? Heh, well maybe since they're royal and stuff. As I walked down the maze of hallways, I debated whether to ask one of the guards I'd pass by at every corner and finally decided to when I passed a ninth guard. It was better than going back to the grumpy prince and making him more mad returning empty handed.

" Excuse me, sir, but I was hoping if you'd help me locate Prince Zuko's uncle?" I guess that was detailed enough because the guard pointed down the hall.

" He's in his chambers." The guard simply said and when my curious look did not fall, he added, " All the way down this hall. It's the last door on the left."

I didn't fall on my knees for the guard, but I gave him a quick bow and thanks before hurrying off as fast as I could in the new red robe they had me wear. Following his instructions, I came to the last door on the left and knocked twice.

" Come in!" A warm elederly voice called from inside the room and I opened the door to find a plump elderly man sitting on the floor in front of a table sipping tea. His eyes were closed as he brought the teacup to his mouth which put on a smile once he set down the teacup. " How may I help you, miss?"

I gave a short bow and smiled, my eyes still sticking to the ground. " Prince Zuko requests your appearance in his personal quarters." I said, hoping that this was the uncle Prince Zuko was talking about.

" Oh, my nephew needs me once again, eh? Tell him that I will arrive there after I finish my tea." the elderly man said and sipped his tea again.

" I will do that." I said and gave him another quick bow before leaving his room and making my way down the various hallways, feeling kind of wierd that there were guards at each and every corner watching my every move. Once I arrived at the prince's room, I gave a quick knock and cleared my throat.

" Who is it?" his voice called, sounding slightly more irritated than earlier. I hesitated before answering, trying to wonder what kind of tone I should use. I decided soft and emotionless.

" Your servant." I called back as I kept my eyes to the floor even though I wasn't in front of him yet.

" Come in." he called back and I eased into the room without lifting my head. Standing in the middle of the room with my hands hlding eachother again, I swallowed the lump that was beginning to grow in my throat for a reason I wasn't quite aware of yet.

" Your uncle says that he will come after he is done with his tea." I repeated and heard a little bit of shuffling before he spoke again.

" Look at me." he said and I gladly obeyed, wanting to get a better look at the person I was now working for.

~Zuko~

Her eyes were a very light violet; almost a carnation pink. The thick, straight, black hair that hung freely ended at her slim waist and the thin straight bangs covered her forehead and half of her eyebrows. Her skin was pale like many of us and the full pink lips were being slightly nibbled on. The coarse jawline and high cheekbones played well on her looks and I really didn't understand why she was a servant. She was very pretty, almost beautiful. Even a blind person could see that. Why was she here then?

" Prepare some Jasmine tea for when my uncle arrives. Don't keep us waiting for that tea for a long time, servant girl." I commanded and I could see her gulp and look down once again.

" Yes, Prince Zuko." she sounded so dead. Compared to my previous servants, she was young. I'm pretty sure she was a year or two younger than me. Shouldn't young girls sound....I don't know...alive?

I watched her bow and exit the room. Something was off about her, but I couldn't quite place my finger on it quite yet. I'll have to ask Yao about her. I can't have a murderer being my servant.

Shaking the thought that she's a murderer away from my mind, I turned back to the letter I was writing in return to Mai's love letter that I had recieved earlier this morning. I wasn't much of a deep person like her and in the end, my letter looked like a 5-year old wrote it. It didn't compare at all to what Mai's was like.

~ Zenaida~

I carefully carried the tray of hot tea and cups to Zuko's room, walking extremely slow so I don't spill or break anything. I could hear the snickers from the guards I passed and I was tempted to rip off their helmets and throw the tea on their faces. I restrained myself and carefully knocked on his room door.

" Come in, servant." Prince Zuko called without me having to state who I was and walked in. I was kind of irritated that he called me "sevant". I mean, why'd he make such a big fuss over my name and not even use it? He just wasted my breathe and his own by doing that.

I placed the tray of tea on the table where they sat across from eachother and set tea cup in front of each of them. I poured their tea and bowed. Standing off to the side with my hands clasped around eachother again, I felt quite awkward that I heard no movement or noise from Prince Zuko or his uncle.

" Servant girl, where is the fruit?" Prince Zuko demanded and I looked over at the table that only consisted of the tea. I looked up at Prince Zuko and furrowed my eyebrows.

" Fruit? You did not tell me to bring the fruit-" I stopped my blabbering mouth as Prince Zuko stared at me like I was a mad woman for speaking out to him like I was and his Uncle was fighting back a grin, so I removed my eyes from his and looked back down and added, " -Prince Zuko. I should've known that you drink your tea with fruit. It is purely my fault. Please forgive me."

Purely my fault my ass! That's what I wanted to say. That's what I was about to say, but held back, not wanting to get killed on the first day of my new job. I mean, I'm new here. How the hell was I suppose to know they drank their tea with fruit?

" Just go get the damn fruit." he said irritatedly which made me burn hard from embarassment of getting in trouble. I bowed once again and made my way out to go and get their damn precious fruit.

~Zuko~

" Something is off about that girl, Uncle." I said as we watched her leave. Her pale skin did nothing but enhance the fact that he was turning red from embarassment. Looking down at my teacup, I took a sip and looked back up at my uncle, who was sipping his tea as well.

" She's very pretty, Zuko. Did you see her eyes? What element posses that eye color?" my uncle wondered as he looked at me with a grin. I couldn't think of any, so I just shrugged and sipped my tea once again.

" I don't know." We had somehow began a conversation about the my father when the servant girl walked back in carrying a basket of fruit, cheeks still slightly flushed. She placed it on the table and went back to her standing position off to the side.

~Zenaida~

" Come and peel an orange for us, servant girl." he said and looked up at me, our eyes meeting for a moment before I looked away and made my way over to their table and grabbed an orange. I walked over to where the garbage basket was and began peeling the orange as they continued their conversation which I muted my ears to. I have learned to keep my ears closed to conversations that did not involve myself when I worked with my previous masters. Once I was finished cleaning the orange of it's skin, I walked back over and split it in half, handing each men a half before resigning to my usual spot over on the side.

" Do you mind if your new servant has some tea with us, Zuko?" his uncle asked, which made me burn hard once again for putting me in their attention. I personally enjoyed being ignored because I cause less problems that way.

" No, she is a servant, Uncle." Prince Zuko said and I could feel him burning two holes through my head. Gosh, this is miserable. His uncle soon left with a quick "goodbye" to me, and Zuko had me clear the table.

-Later That Same Day-

I happily fell into my hard bed in the servant's quarters. Prince Zuko had me only do small things, but he made me do so many small things that they ended up equaling one large thing. He had really worked me, but I wasn't complaining since it kept my mind focused on my work rather than the hot shirtless prince that is practicing in front of me while I wash his clothes. I stared at my pack that lied on a chair across the room and got up to go and get it. As I reached in for my journal, everything went black.

I'm sorry if the first chapter seemed boring, but I promise that there will be sparks between Zuko and Zenaida. Please follow along for the next chapter and rate and review! Thanks!
