Avatar The Last Airbender Fan Fiction ❯ Nothing But Your Servant ❯ Her Other Side ( Chapter 11 )

~Zenaida~
So everything was back to the way it was in the very beginning where I was only a servant and he was my master. He said that the relationship should've never happened or started. It was all a big mistake to get involved with a servant. That we should just erase everything in the past and start from the beginning. And those statements replay in my head over and over again since earlier tonight after he unchained me. So here I am, laying in my bed, not quite sure of what I should do. Should I cry? I mean, we kissed a few times. And they were lovely kisses. Lovely. But can they permit me to cry.
" Stop being such a wuss, Zenaida. You cry over every damn thing. Can you just go to sleep already? Shit...." the voice said in my head again. I shook it out, trying not to let her take over me again.
~Zuko~
I played with the flame in my hand as I sat on a barrel. I told her that we should just start from the beginning and forget about our relationship. I needed to start from scratch to figure out what I should do. She shouldn't be used like my father said she should, but I couldn't have her be on this boat without a purpose. I know my father well enough to know that he sent someone on this ship with me to watch what progress I was making, so I couldn't try any tricky things. This boat is massive, but not large enough to pull off anything scandalous.
Footsteps interrupted my thinking. My head flicked to the side to find Zenaida walking arm in arm with a guard on the deck. Even though I had broke things off with her, I couldn't help but feel this twinge of hurt in my chest and she casually leaned on the ledge of the boat, her elbows propped up on the railing as she threw her head back to laugh at something. But the hurt melted away when I noticed the air wround her was different. This wasn't Zenaida. This was her other half. She stood up straight looking confident and bold. Her daring stature enhanced her soft eyes that had the slightest streak of danger in them. I wasn't going to lie to myself. She looked sexy. The way she was able to throw her hair over her shoulder with the most simplest grin. The way she was able to lean into the guard's personal space and run her finger over his cheek. The way she was able to strut up and down the walkway without ever missing a beat in swaying her hips.
It was late at night, but there were still a handful of men on the deck. It didn't take long for them to crowd around her, their voices and murmurs humming in the air above them. But I stayed rooted on my spot, watching in fascination as she was able to do this. No one spoke to her as she leaned on the ledge again, but the crowd that hung around her spoke about her as if she were not there. Her smile showed how flattered she was at the attention, but then the murmurs died down. I watched as a man approached her and must've made some kind of rude remark because everyone chuckled but her smile faded. The look on her face even gave me chills. She looked like she was about to kill someone. Silence fell over the crowd as a thick blanket of tension hovered over them. Standing up, I got just a little closer to where I was able to hear them.
" Do you think I'm some type of whore?" she asked, the powerful voice booming throughout the crowd as she stood up off of the ledge. Her eyes dug into the man's but he looked away, intimidated and embarassed.
" Of course not....." he said, but his confidence and ego grew quickly back as he stood straight back up with an eyebrow cocked. "....but I do think your a sexy girl who would like to stay in my room tonight. If you do, I just may not have you wash my boots."
The crowd was thrown into a fit of chuckles but that quickly ceased as Zenaida, or whoever was her other half, grabbed his neck and slammed his head on the ledge of the boat. The movement was so quick and deadly that no one had the time to react to it until the guard's smashed skull lay on the ground, lifeless. No one spoke, or maybe even breathed for a minute before Zenaida turned to the crowd.
" Get out of my way." her voice was hard and strong enough to make the crowd part. She smiled in satisfaction and began walking when someone stopped her.
" You just killed a soldier! You have to be exiled!" A brave man yelled as he bent down next to his dead colleague and pointed at Zenaida who was staring at him with a cocked eyebrow and a small grin.
" Your right! Who wants to be the one to kill me tonight!?" she yelled and pulled open the bottom half ofher robe to expose her bare legs and the swords attached to them. She pulled them out like an expert and pointed to the crowd. " C'mon. Please tell me who would like to try me?"
" That's enough, Zenaida!" I commanded and she just smirked before attaching the handles of the swords together to make a short speak with two blades on the end. " Everyone back to your stations!"
Every gladly did as they were told. I walked up to her and she twirled the weapon carelessly in her hand.
" Prince Zuko. What a pleasure to have you tonight. Were you able to catch the climax of my show?" she asked with a grin as she jumped on top of a crate and pointed her spear at the dead body. I looked up at her. The breeze opened the bottom of her robe to show the straps attached to her bare legs. Her eyes shone perfectly in the moonlight as her hair danced wildly around her face.
" You shouldn't kill guards, Zenaida. It's against the rules." I said and she just chuckled and dropped down in front of me, her little smirk frusturating me.
" What rules, Prince Zuko?" she asked in an innocent voice as she tilted her head a little. I pushed away the thoughts of her beauty and grabbed her wrists.
" My Rules! You will listen to me, is that understood? This is my ship. My fleet! Do not disobey or I will throw your ass to the sharks!" I reprimanded and she just chuckled and tried to yank her wrists away. Her expression changed to an angry one as she kept trying to pull out of my grip.
" Let me go!" she yelled and kept trying to pull away, but she was weak compared to me. I threw her to the ground and her head hit against the bloody ledge where the dead soldier was. " Weak ass......" I could hear her murmur as I walked away and she rubbed her head. I turned around and grabbed her wrist again.
" What did you call me!?" I said. pissed off at this girl's mouth that never seemed to shut. But she just shook her head and smirked. Suddenly, her head hung low and her hair fell forward. She was no longer holding her own weight, but had gone limp in my hold. Her head soon looked up and I knew that this was the real Zenaida.
" Prince Zuko......." her voice was soft and low as her wary eyes searched mine. I exmined her appearance. So different from the other one, yet exactly alike. It gave me shivers once again as she examined the her surroundings. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at the weapon in her hand and her long, bare legs exposed and spawled in front of her.
" Zenaida...." I said lowly, still not sure on how to act as I examined her clueless expression. Could this be just a game she was playing. Or what they were saying about her condition true? How could it be true though? I've never heard of something like this before..... " Go back to our room." I said and dropped her wrists. I walked to behind her to make sure that she didn't see the dead body there. I also wanted to make sure that she wouldn't turn around to create more mischief.
Once she was in her room, I made sure to put a lock on it so she couldn't come out. I couldn't have any more dead soldiers and her other side was unpredictable. I guess I'm just going to believe that ehr condition is true and have to work with her like my father instructed me to.
I laid down in my bed and tried to sort out their differences so I know which one is which. Okay, so Zenaida is the more timid and quiet one, and her other side is more bold and daring. Complete opposites. Zenaida doesn't have much confidence, but her other side is too confident that she comes off as cocky. So, do these qualities refer to her other side's element? So if they are both opposites, does that mean that their elements are opposite? The opposite of earth is air. But could it also be fire?
