Kaorin was very ecstatic when she finally got a chance to set down and talk to Yomi. She felt the nervousness of her mate whenever she spoke. She also felt something was becoming obvious...she had some issues of her own to deal with. Thankfully the week came and went. Though...it was still another day another wait. Also, Kimura was still away as that gave her time to concentrate on Yomi. She and Sakaki ended up becoming only just good friends. She felt for her, from one point only. It sucked that her mom was allergic to cats. At lunch, Yomi was on the roof, and Kaorin came to visit with her. Yomi wanted to be alone...and Kagura drove that point home to Osaka and Tomo. She didn't need anybody up there to make fun, or to muck everything up. She also knew that Tomo tended to take things too far.
"Yomi-san, how are you?" Kaorin asked.
"I'm well," Yomi answered. "What about yourself?"
"I have had better days."
"You have no idea how long today was."
"Why don't you have any lunch?" Kaorin asked. She noticed it.
"I just didn't have any cash today...or any time to make one," Yomi lied. The truth was she started a new diet this morning.
"I knew this was going to happen," Kaorin said. "Take this, I don't mind."
Yomi accepted it, and she ate slowly. Kaorin noticed that she had a look of apprehension on her face. She then figured out what was holding Yomi back from being happy. It was the same thing that was holding her back from being happy. She decided to confront her. If she wanted a relationship, everything needed to be out honestly.
"Yomi...are you happy with yourself?" Kaorin asked bluntly.
"What do you mean?" Yomi asked surprised.
"For as long as I've known you...you're self-obsessed about weight," Kaorin then charged.
"You're right..." Yomi said quietly.
"Listen...you don't need to be anybody definition of sexy," she said sharply, "you just have to be yourself."
"You don't think I'm..."
"No...I've seen you naked in the girl's locker room thousands of times...you are very healthy."
Yomi then took everything Kaorin said to heart. There was no way she could lose that much weight without putting herself in danger. She then continued to eat slowly. Kaorin then ate her fried-noodle sub silently as well. After, Yomi was looking at Kaorin. She had some rather naughty thoughts, undressing her with her eyes.
'Damn...' Yomi thought...her glasses suddenly became x-ray vision, 'I have seen her naked before...and she's definitely hot.'
"Yomi is anything the matter?"
"Oh no, I'm just thinking about something," she answered aloud.
"Well...I hope everything I told you got through."
"It did," Yomi said calmly.
Yomi realized that she only needed to be healthy. Though, she's still crazy flexible After lunch...they left the roof. Before that...Yomi confirmed that her plans, and Saturday night were cleared. Kaorin was thoroughly surprised. She didn't think that things would get as far as a first date. Honestly, she thought Yomi would try to get out of it. She is seeing a side of Yomi that she didn't let on to anybody else. She's not even let out her vulnerable side to her closest friends. That afternoon, Yomi was waiting up for her group of friends. She received a text message from Tomo saying that they were in the library staying behind. She instead caught up with Kaorin and decided to walk with her home. Tomo figured out what happened on the roof without asking Though...she did not want to be held responsible if something happened. Thankfully, everybody did their own thing. Unfortunately, she couldn't bother Kagura.
"Hey...what are you thinking about?" Kagura asked. She had just been informed that swimming practice was canceled
"I'm thinking about how to keep everything between Yomi and Kaorin going for a very long time," Tomo replied seriously.
"You don't want to be held responsible if anything happened..."
"That's exactly right."
"You got to back off," Kagura warned.
"That's what I intend to do," Tomo said.
"Still, I find it odd that Kaorin's moved on so quickly."
"She had to," Tomo said, "my parents went through that already this year."
"That sucks," Kagura said. "Either way..."
Tomo knew where she was going. Secondly, she decided not to meet up with Yomi. She knew she was prone to making inappropriate jokes. She didn't even anticipate this happening. Now it really sucked that Kimura poached her from their beloved class 3. This had turned out to be a very long two weeks. However, once they reached Yomi's house...they met with her parents. Yomi's parents are very level-headed people. Kaorin excused herself to the restroom, so they could have a little discussion.
"Well, it seems that Kaori's got her head on straight," her father said.
"She seems a bit...high-strung," her mother cautioned.
"Well...she's less so now," her father countered. "Whatever she was going though, she took care of it."
"Oh...I remember this girl now," her mother said, "that was a battle two years ago to get her to that temple..."
"You know how it is for the New Years dream."
Yomi chuckled. She remembers that exact incident. Kaorin returned. They offered for her to stay for dinner. She accepted and called her mom. She made it very clear she had to be home by ten. They went to do their homework Dinner wasn't going to be for another two hours. They also got home right in time. Yomi showed Kaorin to her bedroom.
"Wow, it is very nice," Kaorin smiled.
"Thank you," Yomi said, "it's the only place here where I can actually relax."
"Wow, that's a nice stereo!"
"Thanks, I listen to a lot of night talk shows."
"Oh, I can never do that...I rarely can stay awake after 10:30."
"Let's not take anymore time, first our homework, then dinner, then I'll take you home."
"That's a good idea."
They got started with their homework...which was plentiful. It was already early evening, about 5:30 when dinner time came. They came from the bedroom. Kaorin was careful to make sure she had everything put away. Yomi was careful that she had everything put away as well. Though, she made sure Kaorin left her bag on her bed. Then through dinner, Yomi and her parents talked about their day. It was very interesting to Kaorin. There were no ill feelings, no pent-up feelings, no hurt feelings. It was just a good natured dinner, with some jokes she was able to get quickly. After dinner, the commands were given. Kaorin went to pack her things. Yomi got ready to take her home, and her parents decided to do the chores. Once out of the house...
"Wow...your parents are quite kind," Kaorin said.
"You know, every family has their problems...it's how we work through them that counts," Yomi said tenderly.
"That part," she said nodding, "is what I am familiar with."
"Secondly, I'm looking forward to this Saturday."
"Oh what shall we do then?"
"I was thinking we can go to an early movie double-feature," Yomi said.
"Maybe...but what about after...?"
"We can go out to eat."
"I'm in."
With those two simple words, Yomi then escorted Kaorin to the train station. She didn't live nearby so she had to travel. This took too much money, but she had little choice. The next couple of days went slowly as they anticipated the date. Of course, Tomo knew that Chiyo-chan would have to be brought up to speed. Considering she's about 3-4 years younger...and she's about thirteen now. However, she had to get Yomi alone...because it wouldn't be right just going out just doing things on her own.
"Yomi," Tomo whispered in her ear, "what do we do about Chiyo-chan...she has no idea what's going on."
"I suppose we got to tell her everything," Yomi admitted.
"I don't want to scar her for life...Yukari did a good job of that."
"You tell her...trust me I am too distracted right now."
"Right, I'll talk to her at lunch time."
"Thanks, you're a good friend."
"So are you."
Of course, while Yomi was thinking about Kaorin...at lunch Chiyo was taken to the roof. Tomo explained the situation. Chiyo understood exactly what was going on quickly. While she was in the dark, she was asking around. She got the normal brush-off from everybody else. Chiyo vowed that she wasn't going to allow anything to happen. However...Tomo had to bring her back to earth.
"Sorry...but it is out of our hands," Tomo said.
"Oh, this is just up to them?" Chiyo asked.
"I'm afraid so...so we can't help unless they ask."
"That's reasonable...what about you?" Chiyo asked.
"You know...I have never dated...but I think it'll be an experience."
"You know what," Chiyo said smiling, "they have our full support!"
Tomo smiled. Chiyo was precocious...so she had a lot to learn about the world. Still, she and Tomo decided to give Yomi a gift for Kaorin. They knew that she was still into astronomy despite quitting the club. There was an idea. However, Yomi would have to get it from Tomo...since Chiyo still can't go out past dark. Tomo decided that a book was a bad idea...but had a better idea.
"You leave it to me and Kagura," Tomo said smiling.
"Okay, I trust you," she returned.
Tomo knew she had the money on her today, so she knew where she was going to go. That Friday came, and it was nerve wracking. Yomi hadn't even considered a gift. Tomo came through...it was a shooting-star pendant, and a gold chain. It didn't come cheap. Yomi wanted to pay her back, but she wouldn't hear of it.
"You have too much to ride on this date!" Tomo said.
"I am going to have to pay you back when I get my next allowance," Yomi protested.
"Fine, it was only 13,500 yen."
"Hold on a second," Yomi said. "Turn around."
Tomo did as she was told, and she was paid back her money. Yomi had saved a lot of money from a long time ago. Tomo decided she had better get on the ball. She then heard Kaorin come in. She sat on the bed and awaited the guest of the hour. Yomi was dressed in a black, turtle-neck sweater. Kaorin had a purple dress with a white jacket on. Though her dress was sleeveless. She got Yomi a gift as well. It was the same shooting start pendant. Yomi smiled broadly.
"This definitely is a good sign," Tomo said smiling.
"More like an ironic fate," Kaorin said.
"However it is," Yomi said, "it worked out."
"Are you ready to go?" Yomi said smiling.
"I am definitely ready," Kaorin said.
It was 11:30 in the morning. They had to make it to the theater by 12:14 to make the movies. They adjusted their plans. They didn't go for a double-feature. Instead they were going to see a singular movie. It was one of those romantic comedies that guys hated for the most part. From there, they were going to go to lunch, and after...maybe hang out. Tomo left here usual way first. That left Yomi (after she gathered everything) to lock her window. Still...the excitement, and the nervousness couldn't be taken care of. Once they arrived to the theater, they paid for their tickets, and got their snacks. They just made it before the previews and coming attractions. Though the movie just started, and it was very quiet in the audience.
'Wow...this is it,' Yomi thought. She nervously adjusted her glasses.
'I never knew it'd be like this with another girl....' Kaorin thought. She was very nervous.
'I wonder what she's thinking about now?' Yomi thought nervously.
'I hope she's thinking about me!' Kaorin thought panicking
'She definitely is cute,' she thought...holding her hand without thinking.
'She definitely is cute.'
Of course, they had no idea they were holding hands. The sappy movie went on for two agonizing hours. Though, it went quickly as Yomi and Kaorin were too much into each other. They left right when the credits started showing. They didn't want to see the extra features. They went to a diner, where it was about to get busy. They were lucky to get a waitress very early...and they also were lucky to grab the booth seat. They talked about things that had happened to them. Kaorin though brought up the one thing.
"Yomi...you held my hand in the movie," Kaorin said.
"I did," Yomi admitted, "I didn't even notice until after."
"It actually is lovely."
"So are you," she returned blushing.
"Don't be so bashful," Kaorin said, with a calm confidence.
"Well...when I get you home...I will tell you what happened to me."
"Oh...it's something that can't be repeated here."
"Yes...it's very...erotic..."
"Wow...I know we'll have a healthy drive, but those dreams are as bad as the New Year's dreams."
"You are definitely right."
They awaited the waitress to return. She had taken their orders, and their menus, and was going to be back right away. Since the was a Saturday, things were going to be very quick. Once she came with their food two minutes later, they didn't mess about. Yomi offered to pay for the dinner. Kaorin accepted, because she picked up the movie tickets. It worked out evenly. They then went to Kaorin's house in complete silence. Once there...they were in her bedroom.
"So...what did you dream about?" Kaorin asked.
"Well...it was kind of weird, perverted, erotic, and satisfying," she answered.
Yomi had to calm down...and take a few breaths. Kaorin knew she had to drown out her parents. Enough to where they couldn't hear the conversation. It was average J-pop and K-pop...she had a mixed CD. Though...Yomi had the feeling in the pit of her stomach. She decided she was going to go for it. There was nothing lost by telling, but nothing gained by keeping silent about it.
