Tyson stood on the porch of his grandfather's home; he had got out of training because his grandfather had a `date'. This left Tyson grief-stricken with boredom. As far as he knew, Max was out of town at his mother's, and Ray was back in Hong Kong visiting some people. Tyson felt desperation creep into his belly, would he actually call Daichi? The feeling was followed by a grumble, Tyson sighed, thankful it was hunger rather than desperation.
He turned and walked in through the wooden sliding doors, removing his cap as he entered the kitchen and leaving it on one of the counters. He opened the refrigerator and started whistling as he made one of those extremely fictional sandwiches that are a foot high. He was planning on taking his time to devour it, because he had an entire evening to get through.

“ NO!” Kai said as he overtook Tala's car and won the race. Tala was never good at car racing games on Play Station, especially Need For Speed.
“Shit…I hate this stupid game…” Tala mumbled and put his control down. They were sitting on the floor and Tala leaned back against the sofa and covered his eyes from the big plasma screen flashing- PLAYER 2 LOSER.
Tala then remembered the topic of conversation. He looked at Kai who was kneeling at his PS2 game stand searching for another game.
“You said no, right?” Tala questioned.
Kai stood and walked back to sit, he was carrying the latest version of Tekken, Tala's favorite game.
“Yes Tala, I said no. I will not, wait scratch that, cannot bring myself to do that.” he sat after inserting the disc.
“Nah, your just chicken…” Tala picked up the control and waited as the game loaded.
“Reverse psychology doesn't work on me…”
“It isn't reverse anything, its fact, your afraid you might actually like him!”
Kai turned to look at Tala, who smiled quite naughtily,
“You wanna tell me I'm wrong Kai, how I don't know what I'm talking about and blah blah blah…dude I've known you for like…ever Kai, that tough guy loner crap excuse doesn't work on me…your just chicken…” Tala focused on picking a fighter.
He selected and then turned to look at Kai, who was still looking at him,
“What?”
“Fine, lets go.”
Tala frowned,
“Go? Where?”
Kai stood up and switched the game off,
“Come on you big mouth, get off your ass, lets go make friends with Tyson.”
“Wait a minute, make friends? What are you gonna do to the kid Kai? I said, see how long you could hang out with him?” Tala was frowning with an interested smile.
“I just think making friends would make it way more fun…if you get my drift…”
“Your gonna mess with him aren't you?” Tala stood up and pulled his leather jacket on.
“Lets just go Tala…” and Kai led the way out.

Tyson heard a car screech to a halt outside. He knew it wasn't his grandfather because that car couldn't drive fast enough to screech. He jumped up from the sofa and walked over to the window stuffing Doritos into his mouth. He squinted out the open window at the black Ferrari at the parked out front on the street. He saw Kai and he frowned in confusion. He made his way to the front door after seeing Kai and a second person advance into the yard.
Tyson reached the door just as a knock sounded, he pulled it open wide,
“Hey Kai…” he looked at Tala, “and your Tala right?” he greeted.
Tala smiled and nodded once.
“Hi Tyson, sorry, I know its late, I just had an urge to come and see you…” Kai walked in and Tyson nearly fell on his back, ` Urge…to see me?' Tyson thought frowning and closed the door after they entered.
“Have you been drinking Kai?” he asked softly and got the shock of his life when Kai smiled at him.
“No Tyson, I've not been drinking. I simply felt that the time has come to…how do you say…let sleeping dogs lie?” he continued to smile.
Tala was a little wierded out by Kai's performance and seemingly genuine smile.
“Are you kidding me, is this some kind of prank, a joke?” Tyson reasoned, stepping back slightly.
“Do I look like I have a sense of humor, besides would I really drive all this way for a laugh?” Kai said seriously.
“Why though? Just out of the blue…”
“Tala and I were discussing the past tournaments and I realized that in all of my past teams, I always got along with each of my teammates on some level, you however are the exception to that, so I figured I'd give peace with you a shot? What do you say Tyson?” Kai extended his hand to Tyson after conveniently lying.
Tyson was stumped, and so was Tala, silently observing Kai and his perfectly serious and calm façade.
Tyson blinked rapidly for a while before reaching out to shake Kai's hand. In a way he felt as though he might be making a deal with the devil himself, but he never the less shook hands with Kai.
Kai's eyebrow raised as a massive grin appeared on the shorter and younger boy before him,
“Great, now we're pals. Now you can hang out with me…I wont have to call Daichi…this is gonna work out for the best Kai, you'll see!”
“Yeah Tyson…I'm sure I wont have any regrets… I have to go now.” he said plainly and made his way back to the door.
“I'll call you tomorrow, there's this awesome movie coming out, we'll go see it. Bye.” Tyson shouted after Kai and the door closed.
After a moment of brief silence in the car, Tala burst out in laughter, now noting the look of utter horror on Kai's pale face.
“You were so real back there, he probably wants to make a brother hood pact with you or something.”
Kai sighed and put his foot on the accelerator,
“The end result will be the fun part for me. All these years, since I was fourteen, that kids been bugging me. By the time he realizes what kind of a `friend' I really am, I can count on never having to deal with Tyson Granger ever again…”
