Beyblade Fan Fiction ❯ Abyss ❯ Chapter 2 ( Chapter 2 )

A small whimper escaped my throat. Oh god, what am I doing here? In an airport. An AIRPORT!!! The one place I am deathly afraid of. Damn that stupid old man! Ordering me here against my will. Grrrr… if I didn't need your money to get what I want, I would kill you instantly.
Ok, so maybe kill is too harsh of a word. I would just hurt you bad enough to put you in the hospital for a few months. I mean, after all, you haven't ruined my life completely. There might still be hope.
“Come here, grandson.”
Sighing resignedly, I trudged over to where my grandfather was waiting. “Yes, grandfather.”
“Now, grandson, remember. You will be flying in first class, but under so circumstances are you to tell anybody what your name is. No one must know you are flying to New York. The stewardess who will be serving you is under strict orders not to mention your name either.”
Yes, this is a part of my oh so brilliant life. Secrecy. Incognito. Disguise. Flying everywhere my Grandfather needs me to.
As for my disguise, I am wearing black pants and a black long sleeved shirt (my choice), a leather jacket (hey! Its cold in Russia!), sunglasses (my choice), and a big brown floppy hat that hides my blue hair (not my choice).
Nice, eh? At least my passport picture is good.
“Now, when you arrive at the airport, Boris will have sent someone to pick you up. They will take you to the hotel you are going to be staying in. Don't leave with anyone who doesn't know the password.”
The password. How juvenile, but necessary.
“Since the plane will get in at about 11:00 at night, you will go straight to the hotel. The next day you will meet with Boris at the company, and I will have further instructions waiting.”
That means he doesn't want to discuss business with me where people might be listening to his secret plans.
“Go now. The plane will be taking off soon.” Grandfather shook my hand briefly, before walking off towards the exit.
He really does care for me, you know.
---
“Hey, you alright?”
I turned to look at the person sitting next to me. He had long black hair that was braided down his back, while bangs fell into his face, flopping into his golden eyes. His skin was dark brown, tanned from being out in the sun to long. A loose white shirt covered his chest, and he was wearing dark green pants that looked like they had been made for him.
… Excuse me while I drool.
For the reference, I am not gay.
Pulling my eyes away from his legs, I looked up at him. “Ya, I'm fine. Why?”
A smile tugged at his lips. “Well, you have a pretty strong death grip on the arm rests of the chair. Is this you first time flying?”
I wasn't listening to him. A small white fang was poking over his bottom lip. A FANG!!! Hello! That isn't normal here people! I gulped and moved away from him a bit. “No, I'm fine, really I am.”
He shrugged. “Whatever, kid.”
I frowned, forgetting the killer teeth for a second. “Hey! I'm not a kid! I'm sixteen!”
He blinked. “No kidding! That's only three years younger than me! You can't be that old.”
I clenched the arm of the chair harder. I hate this. Really I do. Hello! I am not that short! So what if I am only 5.7? I am hot and I know it! So there!
Maybe if I just ignore you, you will stop talking to me.
“So where are you from?”
So much for that plan. “Russia.”
“Really? I'm from China myself. Why are you going to New York?”
This guy talks a lot, doesn't he? “Business.”
The guy blinked. “Business? At you age? What do you mean, business?”
“My grandfather needs me to go help run his company in America. The man he has hired now isn't doing a good enough job, so he needs me to go help him.”
“Holy crap! How old are you?”
“Sixteen.” For some reason I thought we had already established that.
“Fuck.” The guy leaned back in his chair. “You must be pretty smart to be able to do that.”
“Hmm.” Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut—
“Hey, you look pretty familiar. Have I seen you some where before?”
“No.”
The guy frowned. “Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
“Say, what's your name?”
“Umm… do I have to tell you?”
“Why not?”
I sighed. There is no way to get around this, so screw my Grandfathers orders. “Kai. Kai Hiwatari.” Wait for it…
“Holy fuck! Are you serious?”
Unfortunately…
The guy leaned back in his chair, whistling softly. “Wow. I mean… wow! You're sure, right? Your grandfather is like, the richest man in the world! You're famous! Dude, what are you doing here? Why aren't you flying on a private plane or something?”
I frowned. That's a good question. “Grandfather doesn't like to flaunt his money around. He thinks I will be more comfortable taking the plane like normal people. Besides, taking a private plane would have used up extra fuel, and further polluted our atmosphere, as well as causing to much attention. No one is supposed to know I am traveling to America.”
The guy laughed. “Pardon my manners, but I have never really seen Mr. Hiwatari as a `save the planet' type of guy.” He snorted. “… Doesn't like to flaunt his money my ass. He spends more money a year then all the rest of those rich dudes put together. Like last year, he spent millions building another summer house. Another one! He could have donated it to help people in need, or something.”
“I am sure he would be thrilled you keep track of his spendings so closely.” Sarcastic, anyone?
“Ya, well. The guy sounds like an ass.”
I frowned. True as that may be… “Remember, we're talking about my grandfather, here.”
“Oh… heh heh… ya. Sorry about that.”
I just rolled my eyes and turned to look out the window. Ooh, bad mistake. All those clouds, and air, and little tiny towns way, way beneath us… I think I'm going to be sick. Quick! Distraction, people!
A hand was gently placed on my shoulder. “My name is Rei Kon. It is nice to meet you, Kai. Dude! I never thought I was going to meet some one as famous as you are!”
Ack! Not you again! “Please, I am only famous because my grandfather has lots of money, and he got me into the modeling business. I'm not exactly jumping for joy over that.”
“Ya, well, people with your looks should be modeling. Besides, it is better than having no money at all. I know what that feels like.” The guy, Rei, ran a hand through his already messy hair. Oh my, am I staring again? Quick! Think of a smart comeback!
“If you have no money, then how did you get enough for this flight? It isn't exactly cheap you know.”
Rei looked away, a small blush spreading across his cheeks. “I… well, you see…”
I looked at him puzzled. What is he trying to hide?
“Never mind,” he mumbled. “A little kid like you doesn't need to here about such things.”
Hey! “Watch who your calling a kid!”
Rei smirked. “Ok, sure kid.”
You know what? I won't get mad. That's what he wants me to do. I will just ignore him again, and this time it will work.
…
Silence.
Oh, come on! Why isn't he talking to me? There is a really super hot guy like, right there! And he stopped talking! Oh no. does this mean I have to start the conversation this time?
I hate to admit it, but this guy, Rei, he isn't bad. My grandfather never let me choose my own friends before. It is kind of refreshing to talk to someone who doesn't go on and on about inheriting his fathers company, or what they are going to spend their millions on today. Besides, this guy is almost as hot as me! Almost. I won't have to be embarrassed to be seen in public with him, and people will naturally assume he is from some rich family like me! Once I buy him some rich looking cloths, of course.
On a random note, I am not gay. The whole idea disgusts me. I just think this guy is really pretty.
Pretty. Is that a gay word?
Heh heh. So what if I am already planning out my future with this guy? I am sure he won't mind. From what it sounds like, he doesn't have a lot of money/power. I will make a very good friend for him.
“So… erm… why are you going to New York?”
Rei looked a bit surprised that I was talking to him. I don't blame him. “I have a friend over there. I haven't seen him in a while so I decided to visit him.”
“But what about work? Are you taking time off?” Ok, that was obvious, wasn't it? But I want to lean more about his job!
“Well…” Rei looked embarrassed again. “I can basically do my job anywhere. It doesn't really matter.”
Huh? Render me confused. That didn't help at all.
Rei wasn't looking at me anymore, and he wasn't talking either, so I suppose that is the end of our conversation. Fine. Be that way. I didn't really want to be friends with you anyways. I will just… not look out the window!
