~~Prologue~~

The wind swept her long black hair away from her face as Eternity looked up into the stormy heavens. Her piercing blue eyes took in all the clouds that lightly dripped water on her up turned face. She closed her eyes willing death to come.

~~End~~

Eternity and her twin sister Nevada sat silently listening to the wind as it played gently with the leaves. They were 15 and were waiting for their gifts to bless them. Eternity already had a feeling of what the gifts were going to be but she would not tell her blonde, younger sister.

"Girls, spread out. Close your eyes and forget," came the instructions and the village girls who were all 15 silently drifted into forgetfulness. "Now concentrate on the gift that the Gods will bless you with."

Nevada sat breathing slowly and quietly, she felt a burning sensation creep up her spine and something new and dangerous. Something untamed awakened in her soul. She had the power of fire.

Eternity slowly and carefully breathed in and out. Each breath tasting and becoming colder. She felt something stir inside of her and knew she had been wrong about her gift. She had received two gifts. She was one of the legendary four. She had received the power of spirit, and the power of water. She would be the leader of those two groups. She would be the one that would lead them to war.

"Now, do you all know your gifts?" the instructor asked. A murmured agreement came from the young girls. "Now in turn I want you to tell me what you have."

"Ice," one girl whispered. Her name was Eliza Netheral.

Eternity lost track of the rest until it was Nevada's turn. "Fire," she whispered.

Eternity stood up feeling calm and relaxed. She looked at the group around her and sighed, "Water……… and Spirit," the girls gasped and her instructor's eyes went wide with disbelief.

"Eternity Darin you must leave at once for the castle where you will be given special training for a year, and then you will come back here!" the Instructor bellowed ushering Eternity towards her house.

"Where is the fourth Elemental Warrior?" King Elsred growled pacing in front of the first three to arrive. He looked at the three standing there, the three 15 year old boys and growled angry that the fourth boy had not yet shown up.

"Sorry I'm late!" the four men turned and were surprised to see a girl with long black hair and piercing blue eyes.

"Who are you?" Elsred asked in annoyance.

"Eternity Darin, the fourth Elemental Warrior……… I control Spirit and Water," she gasped trying to catch her breath.

"A woman?!?" one of the boys asked raising his eyes in disbelief. His two toned blue hair fell lightly across his auburn eyes. He had the markings of the Dranz village on his cheeks. The only village with distinctive markings.

"Is there something wrong with that?" Eternity snarled.

"Prove to us that a woman is the fourth Warrior," another boy sneered. He had blood red hair and turquoise eyes.

"How?" Eternity asked slowly.

"hn," a pale haired boy smirked.

"Well I haven't had any training!" Eternity shouted with indignity.

"Well, then I expect you boys to start training her……… NOW!" Elsred growled before storming out of the room. The three boys glared at Eternity and slowly formed a small circle around her.

"She probably will be killed in her first battle," the red head laughed.

"I will not!" Eternity growled stomping her foot for emphasis.

"Well, lets get training her then. She can't be completely defenseless," the blue haired boy laughed cruelly.

"Lets go," the pale haired boy ground out impatiently.

"Well, first I want to know your names!" Eternity demanded.

"Later," the red head sighed.

"No," Eternity growled stubbornly.

"Yes," the blue haired boy sneered flipping her over his shoulder and carrying her outside.

"Put me down! I demand that you put me down now!" Eternity shrieked pounding on the blue haired boy's back fruitlessly.

"You are a bossy little brat aren't you," the blue haired boy sneered.

"Let go of me!" Eternity growled sinking her teeth into his shoulder.

"Dammit!" he shouted dropping her on the floor with a thump. "What was that for?"

"You wouldn't put me down!" Eternity sighed treating him as if he knew nothing.

"Lets just go outside to train her Kai," the red head sighed nodding to the blue haired boy.

"Yes, lets," Kai agreed grabbing Eternity fiercely on the upper arm.

Eternity struggled in vain all the way out into the courtyard immediately hating the three cruel boys. She glared at them once she had been dragged into the outside grounds.

Trees dotted the grounds here and there and a medium sized pond sat gleaming peacefully in the hot sun. A small fence kept various small animals in it's enclosure. Eternity was aware that the four of them were the only one's on the grounds and felt her hopes of having a good year crumble.

Kai studied the small girl looking around in awe. Her long black hair was left to blow freely in the gentle breeze that wafted across the grounds. Long eyelashes framed her probing dark blue eyes. A short blue skirt went down to her mid thigh, while a black sleeveless covered her to her navel. A belt held her sword gently around her hips and knee high, black boots covered her well-toned calves. Kai thought of one simple word to describe her: untouchable.

"Well then, where do we start? What do you all knowing *men* have to teach a dumb, pathetic, simpering woman as myself?" Eternity asked coldly. She surveyed the three boys who were looking at her, their faces were a mixture between bored and mildly amused.

"Well, what are you gifted with?" the red head asked.

"Anger," she answered.

"At?" asked the pale haired boy.

"You, for not knowing your names!" she growled glaring at the boys.

"Fine, I'm Tala," the red haired boy sighed acting as if he had just lost a major war.

"And you are?" she asked looking at the pale haired boy.

"Bryan," Tala answered for him. She nodded and then sighed.

"Ok, my gifts are Spirit and Water," she said slowly watching their faces for a reaction.

{A/N When she says she has the gift of "Spirit" she has the power over the spirit world and she can see things others cannot. Also she can be possessed by ghosts like Yoh in Shaman King}

"Well, that is an interesting combination," Tala sighed.

"What do you all have?" she asked looking at them.

"Ice and Earth," Tala grumbled.

"Fire and Darkness," Kai smirked.

"Wind and Sky," Bryan snarled.

"Ok, so how are you going to teach me?" she asked looking at them still.

"One at a time," Tala answered.

"Huh?" Eternity looked at him with a confused look plastered on her face.

"Bryan will work with you for a week, then Kai, and then me. Today, we just get to know each other," Tala explained.

"Oh……… how long have you been here?" she asked.

"We all arrived three months ago," Bryan answered.

"Oh, ok," Eternity whispered quietly. The four stood in silence until Eternity sat on the ground with a bored sigh. The boys looked at her with bored uncaring expressions on their faces before silently walking back towards the castle. Eternity followed at a distance before Tala turned around to look at her.

"I guess we should show you your room then," he growled before turning his back to her again.

"Ok, lets go then," Eternity yawned following them closer as they entered the castle. She followed them through the castle not looking anywhere but at her feet. Her eyelids were heavy and she only glanced up after she had run into Kai's firm back.

"Were here, our rooms are on either side and across from you," Tala said slowly. "Your stuff should already be here."

Eternity nodded and walked into the darkroom and fell asleep on the bed still fully clothed.

Nolee sat on a heated rock staring up at the dark sky missing her twin dreadfully. It had been four months since Eternity had left and already she was being missed by the small village of Drici. Eternity had not written a single letter but Nolee couldn't contradict her. Nolee had not written a single letter either.

The moon cast shadows around Nolee as she fell asleep listening to the peaceful sounds of the night. What she didn't know was that in those shadows there was something dangerous and waiting for the exact minute to strike. Waiting for the moment that Eternity Darin would arrive home.

Eternity concentrated on every bit of energy she had left on attacking Kai with a storm of ice-cold water. Kai concentrated on attacking her with searing hot fire. Both struck at the same time and Eternity stood her ground as she felt the white flames lick her skin teasingly.

Kai watched as Eternity's body was engulfed in white flames and gasped as the ice cold water covered him with it's depths. He fought against the water as he heard Eternity fighting against his fire. She had come a long way from when she had first arrived. He felt the water around him disappear and also noticed Eternity had done the same with his fire.

"Try to see your second power now. You might be powerful with your water but it is essential that you harness your power over the spirit world also," Kai instructed watching as she sat down obeying him and closing her eyes. He noticed the air around them getting colder and he could barely make out the hazy shapes floating around her motionless body. She seemed oblivious to the world around her.

Eternity opened her eyes and was surprised to see pale spirits floating above the air. She smiled warmly at the ghosts and some of them smiled back. Others looked at her mournfully. "What do I do with you?" she asked the nearest ghost. It was a young girl who smiled wanly at her.

"You channel us, you use our power of being invisible to those not gifted, and you also have the power to give us powers to use against your enemies," the girl answered softly.

"Powers?" Eternity asked.

"So that we are able to wield weapons, and use them to your advantage. Of course you will have spirits working for your enemies also," the girl answered.

"Oh, how do I get rid of you when I am done with you?" Eternity asked.

"You don't, we stay with you and guide you," a boy answered her question.

"Will I always feel this cold?" she asked as she shivered.

"No, it should die off in a few minutes. We will not be detectable in a few minutes. You will not be surrounded by cold," an old man answered.

"I can actually feel the cold leaving," Eternity whispered in awe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kai watched her in slight amusement. It really looked like she was talking to herself. He felt the cold slowly leaving his body and sighed in relief. He wondered how many spirits she had with her and what use her power was to fight off the Evil that had bewitched their lands.
She slowly got to her feet and Kai was reminded at how much she had changed from when he had first seen her. She still had the long black hair, it had just grown. Her eyes were more wiser and the innocence in them had almost vanished. She had grown a little and was now up to his shoulders. Other than that though she had pretty much stayed the same. Her personality had become slightly warmer to Tala however.
"Kai, my new friends say that you should close your mouth before bugs nest in there," Eternity smiled at him as she walked past her hips swinging gently with each step. Kai smirked as he walked his long strides easily catching up to her.
"You realize that you look insane when you talk to them. It looks like your talking to yourself," Kai taunted looking down at her beautiful face bathed in moonlight.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that you can speak to use telepathically!" the girl laughed after hearing what Kai had said.
"Really?" Eternity asked in her head. She wanted to test it out.
"Really," the spirits chourused together and Eternity couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"Kai, I can talk to them using telepathy, so now I wont look like I'm a nut case," Eternity teased as she looked into his auburn eyes.
"You always look like a nut case," Kai sneered causing Eternity to hit him playfully upside the head and run laughing into the castle. Kai shook his head and followed her slowly. He saw her make a mad dash towards her room but run straight into Bryan. She fell with an "Oomph!" to the ground as Bryan looked down at her emotionlessly.
"Sorry Bryan," she laughed getting up and quickly running into her room and locking the door behind her.
Kai smirked and walked into his own room watching as Bryan did also. Kai growled when he heard giggling coming from Tala's room and wondered if Tala had brought another girl back from the tavern or if it was just Eternity. He got up and walked over to Tala's room knocking on the door.
"Hello?" Tala poked his head out of the room and from what Kai could see Tala was shirtless.
"Having fun?" Kai asked dryly.
"Loads," Tala grinned.
"Who have you got in there with you?" Kai yawned.
"Bethany," Tala answered slowly.
"Oh, keep it down," Kai called over his shoulder as he walked back to his room. Tala nodded and shut his door.
Eternity heard soft giggles coming from Tala's room and groaned. It was going to be a long night. She heard the spirits in her room softly whispering to each other and she saw them pointing to the wall of her room. She sighed and ground her teeth in annoyance. "TALA! SHUT UP!" she shouted after a few more minutes of giggling. It immediately stopped. She sighed happily and fell into a peaceful sleep.
Kai laughed as he heard Eternity yell at Tala. He felt a small smile tug at is lips but held it back. He fell into a slumber that was filled of visions of a mysterious girl.
"We attack soon," a cold voice growled as he watched the dark castle from a mirror. He watched as the occupants fall asleep and he smiled broadly as he entered his grandsons dreams.
{A/N all done chappa one! Oh, and I'm moving to Cranberry B.C. I'm gonna miss all my friends here in this town, but I can have a good load of fun in Cranberry! I will continue to write though, so don't you worry.}
