Summery: After a talk with Kai, Rei is hoping for a chance between them, but what happens when Kai betrays the Blade breakers?

Chapter 1: awakening.

I opened my eyes as the first sunrays of the day peeked through the curtains. I yawned sleepily.

`tired….tired….want to sleep….but I can't Kai will probably command us to go train soon, might as well get up'

I sat up and looked over at our leaders bed and was not surprised to see him already gone.

Kai and I shared a room ,as always, because I was the only one that could actually stand being around him more then necessary.

Suddenly it hit me: Kai´s bed looked like it hadn't been touched at all, normally that wouldn't worry me but Kai had been missing since yesterday, and he hadn't showed up before I went to sleep, which was pretty late.

I just couldn't shake the feeling of dread that something had happened to our icy leader.

My heart missed a beat as I imagined the worst case scenarios, the truth was that I could more then stand him, I liked him…I loved him.

`Please be alright I don't want you to be hurt especially not now, not when you seem so…out of it'

I remembered the day in the Abbey where Kai seemed shocked, hurt and….frightened. And yesterday morning when he awoke from his nightmare he seemed…fragile.

I jumped as I heard the door slam in behind me.

Kai silently walked in, he dumped himself on the bed and let out a troubled sigh.

`He probably thinks I´m still sleeping I should be still and pretend that I am-` "I know your not sleeping, so don´t even try to pretend" Kai said in a surprisingly soft voice.

This could only mean trouble.

"Oh…I…I thought you might want some peace so I… I trailed of.

"turn around" The same soft voice.

I froze, there was defiantly trouble coming my way.

I slowly turned around, holding my breath.

And there he was, in all his beauty.

'Beauty, I never thought that I would use that word on a boy, seemed weird…But it fitted him, so why not.'

I closed my eyes so he wouldn't accuse my of starring.

"No need to look so worried, I´m not going to yell at you" the phoenix said.

I quickly opened my eyes.

And to my big surprise he was smiling, only a little smile, but still.

"then what do you want" I slowly said.

"to talk."

I starred at him like I would have a stranger who asked my to marry him/her.

`WHAT!!! Did I just hear right? Did Kai, THE KAI say he wanted to TALK? What is this a dream? Am I still sleeping?'

"You look like you just saw a ghost, you know" he said with clearly detectable amusement in his voice.

I blinked once, twice.

"No I thought I heard one" I answered after getting over the first chock.

"So what do you want to talk about" I answered after a moment of silence.

"Love" he said softly.

And for the second time in 5 minuets I was left starring.
