Chapter 3: Who painted the Kitten?

“So you would be the-” Kenny started.
“Silver Blades? Yes that would be the five of us” Deavon said. Everyone but the Demonic Fangs, Silver Blades, Kenny, Hilary, Robert, Judy, and Mr. Dickinson looked confused.
“You'll just have to wait to see who the fifth member of the team is.” Natasha said.
“The preliminaries start tomorrow right Lyla?” Kiki asked looking at her coach.
“Hm? Yeah why?” Lyla asked.
“Training 12.” Kiki said plainly. The girls on her team just sighed except for Natasha, who laughed.
The `bladers all hung out until noon, when the demonic fangs, silver blades, and King had left. Everyone but the Blitzkrieg Boys and Kai thought they were training. They also didn't return for three hours. When Mariah, Hilary, Julia, Emily, Ming-Ming, and Mathilda went out to explore the shops they saw the teams playing some tag game in the park. They went back and told this to the others. Tyson said that he wanted to have their training.
Later that night, after everyone had eaten and gone to bed, Kai sat on the roof, with the book Bryan had given to him, and stared at the edge of the forest. He looked down at the book that sat next to him. He picked it up and examined it before opening it. He started to read.
“Once upon a great moon, there was a huge flood near a small town. It was the first one in three hundred years. The town's people panicked, the local ministers prayed to god, and the mayor of the town fled. The ministers called an emergency town meeting. When the town had assembled before the church, a witch appeared in front of them in all her beauty. She told the town's people that she could stop the flood but they'd have to convince her. The people pleaded, said they'd do anything. She thought for a moment, and then said she'd do it, but only on one condition. The town would have to sacrifice one person, either at the beginning or the end of the first full moon of the year, to the river and moon.If they disobeyed her they would be cursed forever, until the end of their lives. `The river and Moon are upset at the way thy lives. Sacrifice a town's person every year and soon theywill forgive ye' she had said. The town's people had no other choice, they agreed to her ridiculous condition.”
Kai stopped reading. He knew all of this already. He heard it as a child, from his mother. Looking down he saw the Demonic Fangs and the Silver blades with King go into the forest. He suspected that they were off to their real training. Kai looked back down at the book, only to see that the style of writing and language had changed. If Kai hadn't looked down he would have seen Ray and Max follow them.
The next year, the full moon came and went, the town giving the sacrifice at the end of the first full moon of the year. Their town was safe for the year. This continued for ten more years, until the town sent another sacrifice. The sacrifice didn't believe in what he called fairytales. So instead of waiting at the river like he was supposed to, the fool ran into the woods to hide. When the moon and river Goddesses came to collect their sacrifice, he wasn't there. Upon seeing the two goddesses, the sacrifice stared at what he believed to be the greatest beauties in the world, not coming from his hiding spot.
Kai continued to read until nearly 1:00. He decided then that this must be the story of his family and his friends the Cullen's. Kai went to bed after he marked his place. The two teams were still training.
At the break of dawn the next day, Kiki was cooking breakfast. Kai walked into the kitchen to smell the food that Kiki had expertly prepared for the inhabitants.
“So we are the result of a curse are we?” Kai asked curiously.
“You read that? I figured you'd just pass it off as myth like everything else in our lives.” Kiki questioned back.
“How is it we are slightly different from the Cullen's?” Kai asked.
“Because our mother was human, she didn't know what was happening to her.” Kiki answered swiftly.
“Female vampires cannot give birth?” Kai asked again curiously.
“No of course not. Their bodies cannot change like they need to.” Kiki once again answered swiftly.
“So can half-vampires give birth?”
“How am I to know? There are only two female half-vampires. And anyways I don't think any vampire or human will love a half-vampire like you or me. You're awfully curious about this now. Why is that?”
“I can't question my own species?”
“You usually stay away from anything nonhuman.”
“I'm curious now.”
“Should have been sooner.” Kiki ended the conversation there. Ray and Oliver walked through the door not a minute after.
“If you're still curious then you'll go hunt with me tonight. I can explain a little more” Kiki said before she turned back to what she had been doing, now with the help of Oliver and Ray. Kai exited the kitchen without giving Kiki an answer.
“What were you two talking about if you don't mind my asking?” Oliver asked in a quiet voice. Kiki, being the half-vampire that she was, could of course hear him.
“Vampires” Kiki answered in a matter-of-fact voice. Ray and Oliver looked at her in disbelief.
“What?” Kiki asked stopping as she noticed the stares she was receiving.
“Nothing, just never thought Kai would hold a conversation about something so unreal.” Oliver said still in awe. Kiki smiled a very knowing smile.
“Who said they weren't real? Now we should get back to work before Tyson wakes up.” Kiki said before getting the eggs she had put in the muffin pan in the oven. The three finished cooking breakfast not long after.
“So who's going to wake up everyone?” Ray asked looking at Oliver, Kiki and Kai.
“I nominate Kiki. She would be amusing to watch while waking up Tyson.” Kai said with a smirk playing on his face.
“Bastard! Oh well. Fine. I could easily wake them up. Just cover your ears for about five seconds.” Kiki said with her arms crossed, a pout playing on her face. They boys did as instructed.
“IF YOU DON”T GET DOWN HERE IN TEN SECONDS ALL THIS FOOD IS GOING TO BE GONE! WE AREN'T MAKING ANY MORE FOOD!!!!” Kiki shouted. There were a few groans and a bunch of stumbles before the Demonic Fangs, Silver Blades, and the rest of the Majestics came down in their own style. Kiki then went upstairs to wake everyone else up. After she had woken everyone up, they went downstairs to eat breakfast.
The day passed slowly, once again every team but the Demonic Fangs and the Silver Blades trained all day. After lunch Kai gave the Blade Breakers the rest of the day off, in order to spend some time with Kiki to get more answers, and Robert gave the Majestics the rest of the day off as well. Kiki looked around at the people in her best friend's house, they were very different than she expected. The shrill sound of the phone ringing interrupted Kiki's thought process. She answered it groggily.
“Hello?” she asked a tad bit angry.
“Why hello my dear, I was wondering if you could gather all the team captains and drag them to the office down here? I would like to speak with you all.” Mr. Dickenson's old cheery voice called on the other line. Kiki instantly smiled.
“Of course Mr. Dickenson. We will be there in half an hour.” Kiki said then hung up. She proceeded to gather the teams.
“Okay so Mr. Dickenson wants to talk to the team captains. It's up to them if they want to keep the rest of you training or not. All the teams had to keep training except for the ones who had stopped after lunch. The teams whined. At this Mika and Ian smirked at each other.
“I think you should put them on our training schedule. That would keep them from whining.” Mika said to Kiki. Kiki just rolled her eyes but Kai and Tala both laughed and agreed.
“We shouldn't be that mean to them…yet.” Kiki said as the team captains left the house.

A/N: So not exactly the length I was hoping for but I prolonged it long enough. Again sorry for the delay
