"Hey Rei," Mariah called and ran across the arena to him, "I have something for you."saw a box held tight and secure in Mariah's arms. It was white, long and shallow.Mariah reached Rei she handed him the box.smiled at the energetic, pink-haired girl standing before him and took the offered box.pretended not to be interested in what was happening but watched out of the corner of his eye as Rei opened the box and reached in pulling out a long stemmed red rose.bells went off in Kai's head but what could he do.sniffed the delicate flower he held and put it back in its box.
"Thank you Mariah it's really beautiful," Rei said putting a small kiss on Mariah's cheek.blushed a deep red and was about to say something but Lee interrupted.
"Come on Mariah we've got to start the battle," Lee called from across the arena.
"See you later Mariah," Rei said before going back to the bench and sitting down next to Kai.watched as Mariah walked back towards the White Tigers, giving a low growl, as Mariah turned to blow a kiss back at Rei.looked and raised his eyebrow at Kai who just stared back non-chalantly.finished talking with Lee and walked to stand at one side of the dish.stood up and went over to face Mariah.looked at Rei longingly before focusing on Max who was getting Draciel ready.
"So you think you have a chance against me?" Mariah asked snootily.just looked at her non-chalantly and said, "Yep."
"Oh really and why would you think that?" Mariah snarled at the blonde.
"Cause Kai and Rei have been spending day and night together working on training regimen and when those two do something you can guarantee it's going to be good," Max replied grinning at Mariah.Max knew that Mariah hated Kai especially when he and Rei spent so much time together but he couldn't figure out why.who cared.
"Well if Rei has been teaching you, you may actually be worth my time," Mariah said studying her fingernails.
"Welcome to the quarterfinals of the Vitara Cup. We have the White Tiger up against the Bladebreakers. First match has Mariah up against Max. Who will win this one on one single battle," the announcer said.crowd cheered loudly and the judge came to stand by the side of the dish.
"Bladers ready?" the judge asked looking at the two bladers.and Max got ready to launch their blades.
"3...21," the judge counted.
"Let it Rip," Max and Mariah called as they launched their blades into the dish.immediately attacked but Max dodged it easily and tried to attack back but Mariah dodged as well.match continued on like this for quite some time. Every time one would attack the other would dodge and launch a counter attack, which was also dodged.
"Max's movement's are too sluggish and this is causing his attacks to be to slow," Dizzi commented from her place in the laptop on Kenny's lap.
"We can see that," Kai commented sarcastically.frowned and elbowed Kai.snapped his head around and glared at Rei who poked out his tongue.
"Child," Kai said and Rei grinned.attention was drawn back to the dish when Galux erupted from Mariah's blade in a flash of pink light.
"Come on Maxie pick up the speed," Tyson called to his teammate.called forth Draciel who burst from Max's blade in a bright purple light.immediately launched an attack against Galux.dodged the attack and went to strike but Draciel dodged it and backtracked attacking Mariah whose blade flew from the dish to land at her feet.
"No way," Mariah said staring down at her blade in shock.
"Alright," Max yelled punching the air triumphantly and catching his blade as it flew out of the dish.
"The first round goes to Max," the announcer said as the crowd cheered.walked back to the bench and sat down next to Tyson receiving a huge hug from his blue-haired friend.
"I don't like that we only get one go," Max said pouting, "I'd like to go up against Mariah again."
"They're just rushing it because of the big tournament in three weeks," Rei said screwing up his nose in distaste, "I really hate being rushed."
"That's why every morning you're rushing us out the door," Kai said looking sideways at Rei.
"Bite me," Rei said.

'Oh how tempting,' Kai thought.

"Tyson you're next," Kenny said as he watched Gary walk up to the dish.
"About time. I've been dying for a battle," Tyson said standing up and stretching.his stretch Tyson walked up to the dish.
"Hello Tyson," Gary said grinning and waving.
"Hello Gary ready to lose," Tyson said preparing his blade.
"I don't think so Tyson," Gary said preparing his blade.Tyson and Gary's trash talk was all in fun and never meant anything Mariah and Max's had been down right insults.Kenny, Max and Tyson didn't really like Mariah but the only one to say it out loud was Kai. The others didn't want to upset Rei by saying so.looked over and saw that Kai had closed his eyes.
aren't you watching Tyson's battle Kai? Not interested? @Dranzer its just Lee and Kevin are acting weird. ^what is your professional opinion on the matter? @think they're in a relationship. ^@^little jealous and wistful I see. @
Kai could answer Gary's blade came flying towards his head.even opening his eyes he caught it before it hit his forehead.
"Nice catch," Rei said grinning and clapping.looked at Rei and rolled his eyes.ran over and took Gary's blade from Kai's outstretched hand.
"Just so you know I wasn't purposely aiming for you," Tyson said grinning sheepishly.
"Just go give it back to Gary," Kai said.ran back to Gary and handed his blade back apologising if he had damaged it in any way.
"No problems Tyson," Gary said taking his blade and heading back to his team.
"The Bladebreakers have won the quarterfinals 2-0 but just for your entertainment and as a formality we'll see the last two bladers go head to head," the announcer said and the crowd cheered.Rei was getting up Kai put a hand on his arm and stopped him.
"What is it Kai?" Rei asked looking back at the team captain.
"Tell Lee that I said congratulations on his new passion," Kai replied.tilted his head to the side and looked at Kai.
"Okay," Rei said then headed towards the dish.watched as Rei passed on the message.looked at Kai who just grinned at him knowingly. Lee grinned back and looked back at Kevin.was looking from one to the other confused then just shook his head.
"In the last game of the quarterfinals we have Lee from the White Tigers up against his long time friend Rei from the Bladebreakers," the announcer said.crowd cheered loudly causing the two bladers to wince slightly.and Rei launched their blades into the dish.and Drigger immediately emerged and started to fight.
"Go Drigger," Rei called.
"Go Galeon," Lee yelled.two fought long and hard but Rei finally emerged victorious after a very sneaky attack.
"And the winner is Rei," the announcer called making the crowd cheer loudly again.White Tigers followed Rei back to where the Bladebreakers were.and Tyson were hugging and jumping because of their win, Kai was trying to ignore them and Kenny was typing on his laptop.walked straight up to Kai, extended his hand and said, "Don't worry you'll get yours."came to stand next to Lee.
"I don't think so," Kai replied taking the offered hand and shaking it.
"Trust me on this," Lee said grinning and receiving a weird look from Kai.
"What are you two on about?" Rei asked with Mariah attached to his arm.let out a deep growl at Mariah. Kevin heard it and ran up to Mariah and dragged her off to talk to Tyson and Max.
"Don't growl Kai it's rude and tell me what you two are on about," Rei said looking from Kai to Lee and back again.
"Team Captain talk. Not your concern," Kai said simply.
"Aww that's not fair," Rei whined pouting.threw his arm around Rei's neck and ruffled his hair.just looked back at Rei swayed by the cute pout that adorned the boy but not daring to show that it had any affect.
"Rei don't forget this," Mariah said coming over and handing the rose in the box to Rei.took the box as Lee let go of him.
"Well we'd better get going," Lee said waving and starting to walk away, "And Kai don't worry and just trust me. Hope to see you guys soon."stood beside Kai box in hand and waving at the departing team.
"I am going to find out what you two were talking about," Rei said still waving.
"I'd like to see you try," Kai replied turning.and Tyson were running ahead while Kenny trotted along at a slower pace. Kai followed with Rei walking a little ways behind.heard Rei's foot steps stop and he turned to see what was wrong.was standing there, the box slack in his hand, his skin as white as a ghost.
"Rei what's wrong," Kai asked worried taking a step towards the boy.
"Kai I don't feel so good," Rei said softly as the box dropped from his hand and the rose fell out.too fell but never hit the ground cause Kai caught him.held the boy in his arms and said, "Rei talk to me. What's wrong?"he got no answer.

what do you think? Sorry it took so long for Rei to get poisoned but I had to figure out a good way to do it. Well anyway I hoped you enjoyed this chapter. I've already got the next chapter planned. Please tell me what you think.
