Chapter 1, To be sick is a bitch
"I don't know if I can do this" the slate haired boy said and gazed back at his older sister. Both of them were standing outside in front of a building that was in the middle of renovating, building materials and with scaffolds everywhere. The cold Russian wind blew against them and automatically the children raised their energy to resist the cold and keep the warmth.
"I thought that you weren't afraid of anything baby brother" the brown haired girl answered and smirked at the younger boy, knowing what kind of reaction she could expect from him.
"I not!" he snapped and looked at her with flaming eyes; he gazed back up at the high building again. There were no workers at the place at; they would first arrive in a couple of hours.
Suddenly Katerina felt a vibration in her pocket, it was her cell phone. She reached into her pocket and pulled it out.
"What!....Fine I will" she said curtly and sighed angrily. Gou looked at her; there was only one person in the world that could make his sister do an angry sigh.
"Hiro Granger?" Gou asked.
"Who else" Katerina muttered angrily and turned off the phone, "He wants me to meet him and discuss things" she made dramatic moves with her hands to empathize the last word, making Gou laugh a little. Katerina humphed and mumbled, " Great, what a day to spend a perfectly Saturday, sitting in a meeting with a idiot who thinks he knows it all"
Gou had an amused look on his face as he heard his sisters ranting; unfortunately his sister caught him and was looking annoyed at him.
"What the hell are you staring at!" she said out loud.
"You" Gou chuckled and ran into the building before his sister could catch him and throw him into a lake or something like that.
Katerina shook her head as Gou ran away, she did want to catch him and maybe throw him into one of those lakes, but two things had stopped her from doing so. The first one: her brother was a quick little bastard when he wanted to be and the second one: their mother would be pissed at her if she got Gou sick. To tell the truth, her mother could be really scary if she got angry, so avoiding that was a must.
Gou had found the elevator inside the building and was on the way up to the rooftop. Looking at the changing numbers, he felt the glowing warmth from Dranzer. He reached inside his coat and took it out; the bitchip gave out a red light.
"You better be with me on this one Dranzer, you'll never know what my insane coach sister will do"
The elevator doors opened as he reached the rooftop, Gou walked out to edge and looked down. Down on the ground he spotted his sister. Gou grinned; she looked like an ant from up here.
Now what she wanted him to do, was to get down from the rooftop without getting killed that was how he understood it, but his sister had said something about this being a balance exercise.
Gou looked around for a way to get down; there must have been a reason for his sister to choose this exact building, his eyes locked to the scaffolds. His hand slapped against his forehead.
"Of course, how could I be so stupid" Gou mumbled to himself. The answer to the way down was obvious. He and Dranzer just had to hit those steel tubes the right way and with couples of slides, jumps and spinning, he, Gou, would be back on the ground in no time.
He clicked Dranzer to his launcher while smirking; this was going to be fun.
Katerina watched down from the ground as her younger brother launched his blade at the steel tubes and right after leapt into the air.
Katerina smiled, as she watched her brother go. Those gymnastic lessons her mother had made them participate in, showed their full effect now. Their mother had made sure that both of them had tried other sports than just beyblading and for Katerina it had been wonderful. She had done ice-skating, a lucky thing because her bitbeast was ice-based, running, gymnastics and other sports too. But for both her and Gou, beyblading was what they loved the most. The other sports they have been active in, was for the most part just to keep them in shape.
Gou had landed gracefully on the ground and his whole facial expression was a big smile, he knew he had done well. Katerina smiled and clapped with her hands.
"Very well done baby brother. It seems you balance doesn't need anymore work." Gou's smile grew bigger, "For now". At the last sentence Gou's face turned into a big question mark.
"Wha- What do you mean with 'for now'" he asked a bit irritated, but Katerina wasn't listening, she had already started to walk towards their home, which was an hour away from this building.
She stopped and looked over her shoulder, "Are you coming or what? Mama is expecting us for lunch". Gou humphed to himself and ran a little to catch up with his sister.

Hilary stood in the kitchen, humming a happy tune to herself. Soon her two children would be home and Kai also. The holiday for the regular schools had started today and would last for three months, but because both Katerina and Gou were attending to BBA Academy in Russia, the holiday would only last for two months.
Hilary looked out of the kitchen window and saw her two children coming. Hilary smiled, it never ceased to amaze her how alike she and Katerina was, and how alike Gou and Kai was. But in personality, now that was a different matter. Her 17 -year-old daughter liked to wear black shoes, black pants, a long black coat and black fingerless gloves, her shirts on the other hand could be different colours, thankfully. Her 10-year-old son on the hand admired his father to a god like status that he would only wear the same colours Kai was fond of.
Hilary shook her head in amusement; she could only hope that Gou one day would find his own personal style.
Katerina opened the front door to the house, let her little brother before slamming the door. Hilary came out instantly when she heard the door.
"Katerina, what have I told you about that door" Hilary said in a lecturing manner with both hands on her hips, but before Katerina could answer Gou interrupted her by saying.
"Hiro Granger called"
Hilary's hands lost their place on the hips and she stared at Katerina.
"What did Hiro want?" Hilary asked and leaned up against the doorframe instead; she knew very well that Katerina didn't like Hiro one bit. Katerina looked at her mother while proceeding to take off her coat and shoes.
"He wanted to meet me tomorrow at the BBA office. He wants to discus my responsibility as S.I.E coach when I turn 18" Katerina shrugged.
"Again? But there's still 6 months till you turn 18" Hilary said a bit surprise.
"Yeah, but who knows, maybe he had heard that I've started to train Gou and wants to explain me the rules about taking sides" Katerina sighed irritated and hung up her coat on the hall tree, "even though, the rules for a S.I.E coach clearly states that S.I.E coach can choose to train/guide a team or a person as she or he wishes too, just as long as the S.I.E coach can be consulted by other teams, coaches and bladers too." Katerina looked at her mother, "Why is that so hard for him to understand?"
Hilary crossed her arms, "sweetie, I know you don't like Hiro-"
"Like him! I not only dislike him, I abhor him!" Katerina interrupted and then shook her head, "anyway I don't want to talk about this anymore, I'm going to my room... call when there is lunch" Katerina said and disappeared up the stairs.
------
A half hour later, a well-known figure stepped into the house. He sat down his briefcase and took off his coat. Hilary stepped out from the kitchen.
"Ah Kai, you are right on time, I've just finished setting the table" she said, embraced him in a hug and gave him a kiss. Kai accepted the kiss happily and tried to deepen it, but Hilary pulled away before he had a chance.
"I think you need to see your daughter" Hilary whispered. Kai looked at her, slight worried.
"Why? What's wrong with Katerina" Kai asked.
"She's in a foul mood because Hiro called" Hilary answered; Kai rolled his eyes and traced his hand through his hair.
"Hiro, huh. And what did he want from her now. She is already following all BBA regulations, when she's not even supposing to, what bloody more does he want from her". Kai said with a newfound irritation.
"He wanted a meeting of some kind... I don't know, but you better go talk to her, perhaps you can bring her into a better mood with your surprise" Hilary said with secret smile playing on her lips.
Kai nodded in agreement and started to walk up the stairs and to his daughter's room.
He reached the door and gave a small knock and opened the door.
"Katerina" he said curtly.
Katerina looked up from the book she was reading on her bed, she looked at her father.
"I guess Mama told you about Hiro's phone call" Katerina said, appearing unfazed.
"She did, and she wants me to tell you lunch is ready" Kai said and was about to leave, but stopped when he heard his daughter's voice.
"Was Hiro just as annoying when you guys were young?"
Kai stepped into the room again and closed the door, he smirked down at Katerina.
"He was a royal pain in the ass, but that just my opinion". Katerina smiled at her fathers answer, she got up from the bed and wanted to get out from her room if it wasn't because Kai was standing in her way.
"Papa?" Katerina asked, confusion written all over her face.
"He envies you because you've managed to do things that he could never achieve doing himself. You are a better coach that he could ever be and not because you've inherited that special gene from your mother that makes you S.I.E coach. But because of the sheer fact that you are who you are"
Katerina's eyebrows met, "Alright Papa, I'm not sure that I understood all you just said, but I'm sure it makes sense in your world" Katerina said slowly and only got more confused when her father smirked at her.
"Don't worry, you will understand in time." Kai said and opened the door, "I've got the shoes you wanted, right from factory".
Katerina closed her door behind her and went down the stairs with her father.
"You mean the shoes that can turn into ice-skates. You finally GOT THEM"
Down at the kitchen table, Hilary and Gou heard a high girlish shriek. Hilary smiled to herself; I guess he told her the surprise
-------
After lunch, Katerina had been dying to go and try out her new shoes, after a brief explanation from her father on how the shoes worked, both her and Gou was out off the door in a hurry.
They walked down to a small pond there were only a few meters away from the house. Katerina brought out her white beyblade and called forth her bitbeast White Owl. In a matter of seconds the little pond had turned all icy, ready for her to skate on, and for Gou to slide on. She clicked at the buttons in her shoes and she was ready to go.
They were out all day the two of them, having a joyful time. Katerina paused for second when she felt something trickling down from her nose. She brought her hand up to her nose and saw the blood when she gazed at her hand.
It's happening again, was all she could think.
For the past 6 months, she had been having some weird illness attacks. Sometimes she would lose the use of her legs, other times she would suffer from momentarily blindness or small blackouts, but it always started with a nose bleed and after the nosebleed would 'it' come, the epileptic attacks and with that, pains. She had been able to hide from everyone, even her parents. But she thought it was gone for the last time.
I need to get inside before the epileptic starts.
"Gou we need to go inside now" Katerina said still staring at the blood in her hand.
Gou didn't even bother to look at his sister, "Do we have to? I like it out here" he didn't hear an answer from his sister; instead he heard a big thump. Gou turned around and saw his older sister lying on the ice; she was shaking so violently all over and didn't look like to be stopping anytime soon.
Gou ran over to his sister, vastly trying to calm her down. He was scared; he looked up at the house while trying to hold his sister and screamed:
"PAPA"
