Chapter 2
How Dare You!
"How dare you," a voice murmured. Kai spun around so the voice had a face, even though he already knew its name. He turned and found himself gaping into a pair of liquid fire eyes. Yellow eyes blazing so fixedly with scarcely controlled anger - directed only to him. He was a loss for words.
Ray raged in irritation. He waited with irritation and watched Kai, their leader, the team captain of the Blade Breakers, turn around leisurely to face him. He watched as Kai's ruby eyes widen slightly as Ray repeated his earlier statement, "How dare you."
"Excuse me?"
"How dare you raise a hand against Tyson. He's just a boy."
"I know. He's a babyish little monster that needs to grow up." Ray just leered. He couldn't believe how little the illustrious Kai understood about one of his own team members.
Kai saw the other leer but decided not to chase the cause of it.
"You know, he has forgiven you," Ray said gently.
"I don't need…" Kai started.
"You don't want it, is that right, Kai?" Ray bit out. "Well, you need it." Kai's jaw dropped ever so slightly at the other's explosion. "You need it badly and he gave it to you, no questions asked. He doesn't even hold a complaint, Kai. I know that I do. So does Max and even Kenny to a quantity. You gave us up and upset us when we were in Russia. You had to work at getting back my belief and you'd worked for it, you know. But now - after that…" He trailed off.
"Hey, look OK, he made me feel awkward. I threw away the feeling."
Ray could feel his temper blazing. "It was a hug, for the love of God. A representation of amity. A friend is something that he considers you to be. Why, I'm not totally convinced considering the number of times you put him down. He still considers you to be his friend and he was articulating his suggestion of amity and his thankfulness that you returned to us through the said hug. And what did you do? You pushed him over, almost hit him insensible and gave him a concussion."
Kai only looked away, which in turn only stimulated Ray's anger. "You're so dim sometimes."
"Me, dim? I most positively am not."
"Oh, so you think you know everything."
"Yeah, that's right."
"You're such a fool," Ray affirmed.
"What?" Kai exclaimed resentfully, his temper rising.
"There are so many things in this world that you'll never know let alone understand."
"Like what?"
"Like love. You'll never know it. You'll never go through it because you're so unsighted that you'll never even see it."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You're so blinded by insignificant things, like tournaments, the adventure of the success, dignity and your mark of respect that you can't even see what's in front of you. What is on offer?"
"What? What are you talking about? What is on offer?"
Ray opened his mouth to answer. "No, don't," came a voice. Ray turned his head to the sound, so did Kai. Ruby eyes widened on what he saw.
