One Long Night...

_______________________________________________________________ _____________________

Turns out that these guys on this island are good for keeping their promises. They did promise a punishment to who ever doesn't agree with them, and that is was Ishizu got! What jerks! I still can't believe that they actually did that to her. Now her ankle's probably sprained because of a silly beybattle? What's so special about it right now? I take that back, its obvious that they want our bit beasts, and who wouldn't want Ra? Well they still tortured Ishizu, Ray, and Kai. That was until Ray met up with the next blader, Josh, and his bit beast, Hexdile. Looks like Ray's caught in a trap he didn't want to ever face!

_______________________________________________________________ _____________________

Ray watched as Josh was taking over the battle so early. Gritting his teeth, his hands started to turn white. [What am I going to do?] wondered Ray. Hexdile was keeping Driger in one spot, not giving him the chance to get away. Josh was grinning. The scientists in the room were watching Ray's heart rate and other schematics.

"The battle seems to be going to plan," stated one scientist. Dr. Kay was nodding his head.

"Yes it is, Josh has truly proved himself to master the bit beast we gave him." Glancing back at another piece of a similar rock, he rubbed his hands together. [With Driger soon to be mine, I'll soon have enough power to take on the Sky Dragon and use him to dominate the world...]

Driger was taking a hard beating. [I don't think I can hold on much longer.] Josh noticed it in Ray as well. "Ah, looks like you're finished Ray, and we didn't even get to see your bit beast at work, what a shame. Than again, Driger looks weaker than he's talked about." Ray's rage increased.

"Ray," said Ishizu. Ray's glanced moved back towards Ishizu and Kai. "You have to have confidence in Driger, use that rage inside and channel it to him!" Ray closed his eyes and took a deep breath. I can do this. Josh looked at him confused. Ray opened his eyes, and he seemed to have his fire back.

"Get him DRIGER!" he shouted. "FINAL ATTACK!" Suddenly Driger appeared out of the blade. Josh seemed frightened a bit when he first saw the tiger. "Scared there Josh?" he asked. Josh looked back at Ray and growled.

"You wish!" he replied. "Finish him off Hexdile!" The two bit beasts went at it, but Hexdile fell apart. The crocodile bit beast surrendered and the blade flew out of the dish, right into the boy's hand. Josh turned and ran away crying. Ray picked up the blade, and placed it safely in his pocket. He turned towards the two.

"That was close," stated Kai. "Don't do that again." Ray wanted to laugh.

"I'll try not to," he replied. "Ishizu, thanks for the advice. I guess I lost my head for a second there." Ishizu nodded her head.

"You can put me down now Kai," she stated, coughing a bit in between. "I am fine." Kai glanced at her, and then back at Ray.

"Sorry, kid," he replied. "But you're staying up there. This will be quicker."

"Don't call me a kid," she stated a bit annoyingly. "And I can take care of myself." Ray walked between the feuding two.

"Think of it, Ishizu, if Kai carries you, we can get to the harbor faster and get off this stupid island quicker," stated Ray trying to compromise the situation. "Plus maybe we can outrun anymore bladers here." Ishizu coughed, and then sighed.

"Fine, but as long as I don't blade any of these jerks, I'm fine," she stated. Kai nodded. They started off. Meanwhile, Dr. Kay. was furious. Smashing a few unimportant things, the mad doctor heard another voice.

"Doctor, the other group is coming up towards Milo," stated a scientist. Dr. Kay ran over towards the screen. Picking up a microphone, she contacted Milo.

"Listen boy, you get me Dragoon," she snarled. "I don't care if you destroy your bit beast to get it. I want that bit beast you understand." Listening to Dr. Kay. he nodded.

"Loud and clearly." Tyson and the others were making their way through the woods, and were getting closer and closer to the docks, as the sun had set and the darkness enclosing them. Not to far in front of them sat Milo, waiting like a panther for them to get closer.

"I wonder how Ishizu and the others are holding up?" wondered Hilary aloud. Tyson winced.

"Do you have to rub it in?" he asked.

"Will you stop it!" stated Max. "It's just as much our fault as it is yours. We all asked her to come here with us." Tyson sighed.

"I think we should probably stop for the night. We aren't going to be able to see in front of our own two feet soon," stated Kenny.

"I guess so, but we need to get going as soon as possible," stated Tyson. They stopped and Max went out to gather some fire wood. As he was picking up his fifth piece, he heard a branch snap. Jumping up to a stand, Max looked around.

"Who's there?" he asked loudly, but didn't receive any reply. Max looked around once more and wearily picked up some more firewood, careful as he did so. But he went back to the others, and started to set up the fire. He took two of the sticks and rubbed them together to start the fire. It was taking forever to start, and the night was on them. It was getting harder to see each other. But the stars and the moon gave off a bit of light, but that was about it right now.

"Maybe we can use some of Tyson's hot head to get that fire started," joked Hilary.

"Hey," Tyson yelled at her, but as soon as she said that, the fire started in a burst of flames.

"Well, maybe it was Tyson's hot head," chimed Kenny. Milo sat in the forest, hidden from the others. It was almost the opportune time. Almost.

Meanwhile the darkness was covering over Ray, Kai, and Ishizu. They too ended up stopping but they didn't set up a fire, since there was nothing near them to light or start the fire period. Kai carefully set Ishizu down on the ground, and then Ray and Kai set themselves into a lying position.

"We should probably take turns with the watch?" suggested Ray. Kai nodded in agreement. "I'll go first, since you carried Ishizu the entire way. And I'm not taking no as an answer." Kai turned and closed his eyes, drifting into a sleep.

Later that night, Ray woke Kai up with a shake. There was no need to explain was going on, it was his turn for the watch. Ray was out in a second and Kai was left in this world by himself. Lying on his back, he gazed up to the stars. Constellation figuration kept him awake. He even thought he could make out an outlining of Dranzer once. But he never saw that again. The night drifted on and something disturbed Kai. Not to far away, the sleeping Ishizu wasn't very sound asleep. She was shaking and coughing. Kai walked over towards her, and with the help of the moon, saw her face in its paleness. Placing a hand on her forehead, Ishizu was burning up. What was he to do? He didn't know. Her forehead was hot, but the rest of her was cold. Sitting down, Kai pulled the shivering Ishizu on to his lap, and wrap his arms around her to try and warm her up. Ishizu woke up and noticed how she was cradled in the arms of.... Kai? Looking up, she coughed into her hand twice.

"What-"

"Go back to sleep," he said as she spoke, realizing she was awake. "You're getting a fever. Just sleep." Ishizu was ready to protest, since she had done nothing to help Ray or Kai this entire time, just a lump of burden. But Ishizu's head hurt so and she tried to go off into a sleep again. Her shaking did slowly die off, as Kai's body warmth passed into her. But she couldn't sleep, she just couldn't.

"Kai?" she started. Kai looked down at her.

"I thought I told you to sleep?" he asked rhetorically. Ishizu coughed in her one hand a few times, and didn't reply to him right away.

"I am not getting off this island am I?" she asked, very low in her tone, soft in her tone. Kai didn't really understand where she was coming from. Of course they were going to all get off the stupid island. They did it once before, and they'd do it again. Didn't these scientists ever come up with something new? His glance stuck onto Ishizu, but he didn't answer. She didn't need one, at least Kai thought that. Instead he just held her tighter, but Ishizu wasn't done. She pulled her left hand out, the one she hadn't coughed into, and searched around for something. Coming to grab his right hand, Ishizu took it in hers, and pulled it close to her. Who was Kai to object and he held her hand back, letting his arm stretch so her's would be more comfortable.

"I'm sorry Kai," she mumbled.

"Hmm?" What did she have to be sorry about?

"I'm sorry that you didn't get that battle that you wanted?" Kai was still confused. It had to be the fever that was talking. That was the only explanation. But the tears started to stream out of Ishizu's eyes. Kai was wondering if Ishizu was losing her mind from the pain and the fever. Something just wasn't entirely right. Ishizu squeezed his hand, and then pulled it up to her mouth to kiss it. Kai was shocked. [What's going on?] "I know you wanted to battle Ra, and you wanted to battle his best. But I just can't do it Kai. I just can't. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She kept the chiming on and on, until little sobs droned into silence. What was Kai to say? He didn't know what. There really wasn't any thing to say. But as Kai opened his mouth to say something, he felt the pressure on his hand die off and heard the soft breaths from Ishizu, who was now out cold asleep. So he sat there, cradling Ishizu in his arms, trying to keep her warm in the cool night's air. Not too far away, Ray, who was awake the entire time, watched and listened to Ishizu and Kai's 'conversation'. Ray couldn't help but grin. She finally seemed to be warming up to them, and at least that was one step on their goal. And Kai, he did seem a bit different. Ray couldn't blame him for trying to help Ishizu. For a friend who was in trouble and needed help, anyone would do it. But as he heard her ask Kai if she wasn't going to get off the island, Ray's fists clenched in his hands. Those scientists were going to pay for what they did. And then all Ishizu could do was apologize. Why? Even Ray was confused. But his thoughts turned to choices, choices turned to dreams, dreams turned into moving pictures as he eyes closed.

As the boys were tending to the fire, it was Tyson's shift to watch out. He was tired from all the walking and climbing that they had done. He looked at the fire, poking it with a stick to keep the oxygen's flow consistent. Staring into the fire, he couldn't help but replay the scene of Ishizu running off and then her falling into the hole in the ground. With a might heave he threw the stick far into the dense woods. Hands buried his face, as Hilary had woken to see Tyson's rage. She wanted to get up and comfort him, but she knew she wouldn't a thing to help him. [I wish there was something I could do. I've never seen Tyson this upset since he didn't get lunch yesterday because of the practice. But still, he's really down...] [How stupid am I? I could have stopped her from leaving, she wouldn't be in the situation that she's in. What the hell's wrong with me? Why was I so shallow. Yea, I wanted to get Kenny's laptop back, but at that price? And Max, Max even said it was his battle. I could have done something.] As Tyson kept on pondering the mysterious of the universe, a blade suddenly jumped out in front of him. Spinning madly around the fire in circles, he jumped up and watched the blade soar away.

"Who's there?" But all he got in a response was a low laugh. The shadowy figure that caught the blade took off in a soft run threw the forest. "Hey, wait up!" Tyson figured it was a trap, but now or never. Springing into a run, Hilary jumped up and darted after him, Kenny and Max still sound asleep.

Tyson followed this kid, jumping over roots and dodging the low hanging tree branches. Hilary, not too far behind followed Tyson and the black shadow before them. Hilary caught up to Tyson as he had lost sight of the shadow and its direction of movement.

"What's going on?" asked Hilary. Tyson continued to look around for any site of movement in the wooded area they were in. He also wondered who exactly this shadow was... besides being a Wraith Blader.

"I'm not sure, Hilary, but I think I'm long over due for some Blading action."

"Don't tell me you give up the hunt now Tyson? I mean, I'm sure Ishizu would never give up on anything so quickly," smirked Milo as he watched the anger building up inside of Tyson, fists clenching, teeth grinding.

"Come on out where you're hiding. And face me!" shouted Tyson. Reluctantly, Milo did so and grinned as he looked at Tyson. Tyson's face showed it all. Hilary put a hand on his shoulder.

"Calm down Tyson," she said. "He's trying to rattle your nerves." Tyson knew it was true, but he was too wrapped up in everything to calm down.

"Well, now isn't that sweet. Your little girlfriend is your only pep squad. What did your friends fall into a hole in the ground as well?" asked Milo, resetting his blade to the launcher. Tyson grinded his teeth, and set up Dragoon. Back in the lab, the scientists had all their computers focused on the battle about to ensue. [ Don't fail me now Milo. ] 3...2...1...Let it Rip!

Dragoon and Milo's blade, Hexatross, flew onto the ground. This was a street battle, and both were ready to play by those rules... there aren't any. Dragoon went immediately onto the attack and Hexatross went slightly defense. Dragoon, with the help of Tyson's fit, started bashing the white beyblade.

"Do it, Dragoon," growled Tyson. "Take that blade apart!" Suddenly Dragoon appeared out of his blade, and struck out at the white blade. "Yea that's it!" Milo's blade went soaring through the sky, but all he did was smirk.

"Don't tell me that's your best? Did Ishizu teach you that before you betrayed her?" asked Milo. Tyson clenched his fists again. "I must say it's a nice bit beast you have there. But I think mine will wipe the floor of you." Tyson looked almost confused. Then he remembered how Yuri had a bit beast too, the HexLeopard, but all that reminded him of Ishizu running off 'cause Tyson yelled at her for not battling them. "Hexatross! Wing Blade!" As the white blade soared through the sky, it hit and landed on tree trunk, and came to the ground, as a bright light shown off of it. Out came the gigantic bird, Hexatross. The blade spun quicker as Hexatross smashed into Dragoon, who wasn't entirely ready for the impact. Instead, Dragoon was smashed into a clumping off trees.

In the office, Dr. Kay and Zagart were smiling widely. The scientists were getting readings from the battle, and according to them, Dragoon was weak right now.

"Calm down Tyson, he's rattling you," Hilary cried out. "Just focus." Milo frowned as Hilary started to help Tyson calm down.

"Why listen to your girlfriend? You're probably going to betray her as well, probably brake both of her legs," stated Milo. "Watch her fall." Tyson screamed in furry, and Dragoon went after the high flying Hexatross.

"She's not my girlfriend," he mumbled. "Get him Dragoon!" Dragoon's attack was sloppy and Hexatross easily dodged it. "What are you doing Dragoon? I said get him!" Dragoon turned around to attack again, but Hexatross flew smack into him, sending Dragoon soaring for a bit.

"Maybe you're not as good as you sound, Tyson," stated Milo. "Maybe I should have used my valuable time to blade Ishizu. She's a more worthy opponent, even if she's weak right now."

"DRAGOON!" The dragon cried and went straight for Hexatross, who countered it and came out on top. Dragoon hit a clearing of trees a bit away, and the blade was being bounced around in between trees.

"Good, Milo," stated Dr. Kay. "Now take him out once and for all." Milo heard the instructions and was about to, but someone had to go and open their big mouth.

"TYSON!" shouted Hilary. "Stop and think. He's trying to get to your nerves, and he's winning. He's trashing you and Dragoon. Your rage is not helping you the way it should. Forget about what happened to Ishizu, it was not your fault." Tyson looked back at Hilary, who was just a few yards behind him. His eyes softened, and he felt himself calming down quiet a bit. Milo was getting sick and tired of hearing Hilary. She was ruining his strategy. He pointed at Hilary in an angered way.

"You, you need to be silenced. Take care of it Hexatross," stated Milo. The bit beast looked at Hilary, and cried out loudly as with its mighty wings, it took off and after Hilary with force. Hilary saw it coming, and screamed. Tyson turned to see the albatross bit beast heading straight for them. But Milo's word rang off his hears.

"NO!" shouted Tyson, and ran forward, getting to Hilary first. Dragoon's eye flashed with fire in it. Tyson managed blocked her from Hexatross, and held her tightly. He waited for the attack of the bit beast, but instead he heard a clash. Looking up and turning around, both Tyson and Hilary saw Dragoon standing in front of the two, holding Hexatross back.

"Doctor, this is not good. Dragoon's power level is rising, and Tyson's temper has dropped down to its normal level. He's in control now," stated the scientist.

"What!" shouted Dr. Kay. "Milo. Drain that dragon!" Milo heard the command and cried out for Hexatross.

"Wing Thief!" shouted Milo. Suddenly Hexatross stopped fighting Dragoon's grip. Instead he almost seemed to welcome it, as a bright black light shown around both bit beasts. Dragoon felt that his powers were leaving, along with his strength.

"No," shouted Tyson. "They're doing it again. Dragoon, back off!" Dragoon tried to let go, but with the force around him, he really couldn't. "Dragoon!"

"PLEASE DRAGOON!" cried Hilary. The bit beast, draining of its power, did his best to get away from Hexatross.

"Kept it up Hexatross!" commanded Milo.

"Hey what's going on!" shouted a voice from behind them. In ran Max and Kenny.

"What's going on?" asked Kenny. "ACK! Why didn't you wake me! Quick Dizzi." Kenny set down and opened up his laptop.

"EEK! Chief, Dragoon's not looking good. He has to get out of that bit beasts' grip like now!" Tyson's eyes closed and he felt his rage coming back. But this time, he was in control of it.

"DRAGOON!" The bit beast was able to let go of Hexatross and get back. Dragoon panted a bit, as he felt weak again. "Get him Dragoon, teach that bit beast not to mess with the best bit beast in the world." Milo laughed at him.

"You wish!" he replied. Dragoon took in all of Tyson's rage, and as Milo was laughing and distracted, Dragoon smashed right into Hexatross.

"Again Dragoon! Show no mercy!" shouted Tyson. Dragoon kept pushing back and back the white blade, until it was pinned up against a bunch of trees. "Now Dragoon. Final Victory attack!" The silver blade lit up into a new color and Dragoon did the same. He was straight for the bit beast, and attacked Hexatross. "GO!" Dragoon went straight in and out of the bit beast, Hexatross screaming in pain as he broke down and went into the comfort of his blade.

"Just wait until you meet the best bit beast in the world, Tyson, just wait," he stated. The white blade bounced into Milo's hands and the boy took off again, in the dark. He was gone, but he had most of Dragoon's original power. That meant their leader's bit beast was going to obtain that power, and use it against the last Blade Breaker, and watch him crumble.

Max watched him leave. "What a poor sport. But what does he mean by that?" Kenny shrugged.

"There is always someone out there who is bigger and better," stated Kenny. Maybe there's just more to this than we thought." Max glanced over at Tyson, who was still holding on to Hilary.

"Some night you too must of had," he joked, laughing a bit. Tyson and Hilary, just realized that they were still hugging, and quickly pushed each other off and turned their heads the other way. Both Kenny and Max laughed. The sun started to rise and they were getting to the ends of the forest. They even could see the docks with the boat still attached. They all took off in a sprint.

As the sun rose up on Kai, Ishizu, and Ray, Ray didn't say anything to Kai about what happened last night. He helped Kai get up with Ishizu. Kai placed a hand over her head. She was even hotter than before. "She's getting worse."

"Come on," he stated, helping the weary Ishizu onto Kai's back. They set off in a run for the docks, a race for Ishizu's health.
