Epilogue: I Love You, Always, Forever

As anti-climatic as the entire thing had been, discovering the truth about "Boris" made up for it. And I finally was able to breath with complete ease, knowing that the demon really had died six years ago, and Tyson was back by my side where he belonged…and where I belonged - at his side.

There was one thing I might have thanked Gideon for, though. If it hadn't been for his need to avenge his brother's death - which, by the way, he had always believed had been the fault of a Sacred Spirit and not a person, as it came out in his debriefing before being sentenced to life in prison by the World Courts - I might never have worked up the courage to go to Tyson and reveal myself to him again. I may have just let him live out his life alone, lived my own life cold and alone.

Tyson agrees with me on that. We have each other and things have finally become the way they should be.

After we'd gone through the whole process of reporting to the Squad and bringing Gideon in, as well as getting statements from Ian and Spencer, I told Mr. Dickenson that my team and I deserved an extra long holiday. He agreed, giving us two months off with guarantees that no matter what came up he would not interrupt us.

When Kenny got back to Athens, Hilary was waiting for him. And doing what was typical of that family when they decide they want something, she proposed to him. And he accepted, blushing furiously the entire time. So I had Enrique get that beach house I'd wanted for Rei purchased, cleaned up, and prepared for a wedding. That's where we had the ceremony and since the place was a mansion, they had their honey moon there too, in another, separate wing of the place. The rest of us were spread out all over the remaining 29 rooms.

Tyson and I locked ourselves in our room for…I don't know how long, and the staff Enrique had employed to look after the place for Rei (on my bankroll - which he doesn't need to know about), probably wondered what was going on in there that we never emerged, and only knew we ate what they left outside the door for us.

I don't need to tell you what went on do I?

As for Rei and Max, the two got 'married' in Rei's hometown by their ancient traditions. It was as legal and binding as any other ceremony of that sort and was enough for them. I actually considered it for Tyson and I…but he just said, "What for? I don't need a ceremony to tell me that I can love you and be with you for the rest of our lives." He grinned at me. "Or to tell me I can screw you silly whenever I want." That made me blush hotly. We did compromise, though, and put rings on each other's fingers.

But one of the biggest changes to our lives came when we returned from our vacation. After much discussion, arguing, and yes - a few punches thrown - Tyson and I agreed that he would become a full-fledged agent of the Spirit Squad. I had to let go, and I was going to try my best.

Mr. Dickenson had called us into his office when we returned, and when we got there, we discovered not only was he there, but so were the other four of the Five, and Max, Rei, and Kenny, too. We were all welcomed back, and a bombshell was dropped on us.

"It has been our intention since we formed the Squad that you five would someday take over our positions. Judy, as you know, is Director of Research and Development, and we hoped Kenny would be willing to take on that roll. Mr. Mizuhara has been in charge of Security section and jointly in charge of Technologies with Gramps, who has also been looking after Training and Recruitment. We hoped that Max and Tyson would be willing to take on those positions. And Rei, we hoped you would be interested in taking Mr. Grangers position as the head of the Education and Finances departments." Mr. Dickenson informed us. We were all staring at him (and the other four) in shock. I don't think any of us expected this at all.

"And Kai?" Tyson asked for me.

Mr. Dickenson smiled and looked right at me. "Why, my position of course. Administrative and Legal. CEO of the BBA and Director of the Spirit Squad."

I just sat there, stunned speechless.

"Now that's what I call a promotion." Max breathed, awed. "Congratulations, Kai!"

We ended up sitting there, all ten of us, and negotiated just how everything would be shifted over to us. Judy and Mr. Granger were still going to remain in the Squad, and were still going to do what they'd been doing all along, only they weren't going to be in charge or have to worry about the administrative stuff any longer. That was our problem now. We didn't mind, really. As long as we got to go out into the field on occasion, we were happy.

After all, what's the point of being the best of the best if you couldn't go out and show off?

Tyson looked over Kai's shoulder as he finished typing.

"Done? That wasn't so bad, was it?"

"Are you kidding me? That took forever."

"Well, I did suggest you ask Kenny for that program where you just dictate into a microphone and the computer types it out for you, but no-o. You had to do it yourself."

Kai frowned and grabbed him, pulling him down into his lap and nuzzling his neck contentedly. "So how was Gramps? Still bitching about the hospital food?"

Tyson laughed. "Yep. The doctor said his leg should be completely better in a couple of days and he can go home. Hilary and Kenny are planning a surprise party for him."

"Joy. When?"

"In the afternoon on Friday. Come on, Kai. You aren't as much of a stick-in-the-mud as you pretend to be." Tyson snuggled into his lover's arms and pressed tiny kisses to his forehead, cheeks, and down past his ear.

Kai smiled softly. "Only for you, my dragon."

"Hey, Kai?"

"Hmm…?"

"What made you decide to put all this down anyway?" Tyson gestured at the screen of the computer. "It's not like anyone at the Squad can ever read it."

"No. But I don't want to forget how I got you back, or for either of us to forget how much we went through just to be together. And I want our children to know, too, someday." Kai explained softly.

Tyson moved back so he could look into those fathomless crimson eyes. "Kids? You'd want kids? If you're planning on them reading this, love, I'd suggest editing out the, ah…more racy parts. I don't think they're going to want to read about their parents getting it on."

Kai blinked and laughed. "Oh, right. And…yeah. Why not? Who else am I going to pass Dranzer on to someday? Or you Dragoon?" The dual-haired blader colored slightly.

"You have a point." Tyson grinned and leaned in, capturing Kai's mouth with his own. "Mmm…are you tired? It's only 11:30 pm…"

"I'm never too tired for you, lover. I love you, Kinomiya. Always. Forever."

"Same here, Hiwatari. Let's go to bed, shall we?"

"Why walk all that way? The couch over there is closer." Kai grinned wickedly and stood up, lifting Tyson easily and carrying him to the couch where they lay down and proceeded to show each other just how deep and far their emotions ran.
