Inside talking

“Talking”

`Thoughts'

---------------

Let me tell you a story of an extrodinary girl, she opened many up and helped them learn to laugh, to smile and not worry. And to live life like you were dying, because none of us knew of what she had planned to do. And this is her story…

A squeal of laughter filled the halls. A girl of thirteen chased a boy down the halls. “JAKE!” she cried, laughter in her voice.

The boy, Jake stopped for a sec and stuck his toungue out the girl. Then started to run again, she chsed him pass the office and the principal was just coming out of his office with new students. Jake smirked and shouted, “ANORIXIC!”

“I AM NOT ANORIXIC! OF I WAS I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO RUN LIKE I AM NOW!” She snapped.

“Star! Jake!”

Star halted and Jake skidded to a stop. “Reporting for duty!” Star said, jokingly.

“What have I told before?”

“Life sucks get over?” Star guessed, black eyes gleaming in laughter.

“You wish.”

Star smiled. “Never run in the halls?”

“exactly. Why were you running?”

“He was calling me anorexic!”

“Are you now?”

“NO!”

“Jake, don't call her anorexic, okay?”

Star stuck her toungue out at him in a childish way. “Yeah, Jake!”

“Alright, I was getting bored anyways,”

Star scowled and whacked him. “Hi,” she said, simply to the new students.

Her light, sweet happy smile fooed us all, she pretended to be happy, but she taught us the greatest gift, no scientist could ever figure out…

Over the next few days and showing the students around, she got to know a few. Kai Hiwatar-the cold Rusian. Rei Kon-may look easy going but can be cruel when he wants to be. Tyson Granger-the annoying one. Max Tate-the hyper one. Kenny-the smart “scientist”.

She got to know their “rivals”. She tried getting Kai and Ozuma to open up, but couldn't seem to get them to smile. “Ya know, you two could be colder than snow and the dessert at night,” she teased.

Ozuma couldn't help, but feel a light smile to appear, Kai just gave her the famous Hiwatari Glare.

She seemed unfazed, her soft eyes gave away her feelings.

She tricked us. Her isolation started in the middle of the year a week after New Years. Red marks strated to come to her arms and legs and stomach. I became aware, but payed no mind to it when she was cheerful and always joked about the things the bring people down.

Star quietly sat at the lunch table, in her own world. She had been crying again. `This doesn't justify me…' she thought, bitterly.

“Star,” Jake said, form behind her. “you were up last night, outside in the forest, why?”

Stra jumped and gave a fake cheery smile at her best friend. “Because, I couldn't sleep. You know how I am at night.”

Sabby walked up to the table, cheerful than ever. “Guess what?”

“Hm?”

“I AM GOING OUT WITH TONI! OMG!” squealed the young Chinese girl.

“That's great!” Star said, happy for her best friend.

“Oh, I know!”

“What are you girls squealing about?” Tyson asked, walking into the lunch room, yawning, the rest of Blade Breakers with him, as well as the Saint Shields.

“Girl stuff,” Star replied, looked up and smiling slightly. Joseph caught a glint in her eyes. Was that sadness?

“Girl stuff huh? What type of girl stuff?”

“Must you pry into privacy?”

“O.O…Never mind….” Tyson replied.

I Must Be Dreaming played on the radio, Star adruptly started singing along with the song.

“We all live, we all die, but that doesn't begin to justify you…” She realized she was getting weird looks from her friends, she blushed and looked down.

I wish I could have taken the lyrics seriously. The music didn't match her personality. I often had wondered what she was hiding, but when she was asked if she was alright by one of the teachers, she'd put on a smile the tricked the teachers and she'd say that she was okay. I never about her secret. It scared me to death when I started to see some sadness and depression in her life.

Star sighed and softly cried, it was raining out-meaning spring was coming and her nightmare of coming closer. She was in the hall way of the school, just crying. There was a dance going on in the gym and she had slipped out, she didn't notice anyone approaching. “Star?”

Star glanced up to see the concerned orbs of Joseph. She smiled. A fake smile. “Yeah?”

“Why are you crying?”

Star blinked. “Your imagining things, Jose.”

He gave Star a confused look. “What are you hiding, Star?”

Star gave an innocent look. “Me hide any sadness? No. Theres nothing to tell, I swear Joseph! If there was anything going, I'd tell someone. I promise.”

He'd seen a trace of guilt in her eyes as she made that promise. “O…k…”

She smiled and hugged him. “You're a sweet boy,” she whispered softly. He smiled a bit and hugged her back. Nuzling his neck a bit she let go and grinned at him. “Come on, lets go into the gym now.”

“Okay…”

I could tell she had lied to me. But I never said a word, as soon as the weather started to warm up, she started to spend her time indoors and never going outside, making excuses like she had homework or she was busy. Jake didn't what was going on nor did Sabby. Just until Rei and Ozuma dragged her outside. She had been wearing short sleeves with black arms bands on both wrists. It made me wonder what she was hiding.

Star pouted and glared at the two teens who had dragged her outside. “I was doing homework!”

“Its spring break, Star, so no you werent!”

“Maybe I was doing some stuff for extra credit,” she shot back. So they couldn't counter that. But Ozuma smirked and shook his head.

“I doubt it, Star, so don't lie.”

Sabby came walking outside. She looked sad. “Sab?” Star asked.

Sabby gave a weak smile. “My older brother just killed himself,” she whispered.

Star gasped. “No…he was so perfet…how could he…?”

Sabby just shook her head and broke down crying. “Oh, Sabby,” Star whispered, kneeling down and hugging her friend. “Life is bad, sometimes I even want to die…” she whispered. `And I really do…another reason why…' Star sighed and hugged her friend tighter.

“I hate life…” Sabby whimpered.

Star sighed. “Life matters, Sab, you cant deny it. So what if he killed himself? He did it for a good cause. Maybe he didn't mean to kill himself, but still, Sab, he'll always be in your heart,” she saidm gentlly.

Jake bit his lip. “Her brother had it coming.”

Star looked up and nodded. “Yeah, with the drugs and all the problems he had, he was bound to kill himself sooner or later.”

Sabby pulled away from her friends comforting hug. “I know…he meant to kill himself. He tried it before, remember Star?”

Her friend nodded, numbly. “You were upset your mother…” she trailed off.

“Didn't care, oh yeah, she cares now, when its to late…sometimes I wish that God would see how much people suffer!”

Star sighed. “Sabrina, its not God whos doing this. It's the evils of the media and the cenima and Satan! Don't blame God. But God meant for death and sin to happen. When Adem ate the appel off the tree he sinned, therefore he was punished, but before that, God created human in his own image…until sin entered, then it goes onto the story of Noah

And then many other stories, but one story had surprised me when I went to church the first time I came here. Jesus had died for our sins, he took our punishment. But maybe your brother took his own life before his time, or maybe God wanted him to. I cant tell you.

Remembered when my parents divoriced and I was upset over that? Remember the habit I picked up? Remember?!?!”

Sabby nodded. “But whats that got to do with anything?”

“A lot, the habit made me suffer, but made you, Jake, my mom and the others suffer much worse. And right now your hurting me because you cant just hold on to the better times,” Star felt tears sting her eyes.

A habit. I should've known then. But I realized that the habit was lying or drugs but it was something else. But I remember beautiful night. A nigt of commitment and truth…

Star was smiling as she walked out onto the balcony. The birds twitered in the night. Joseph was with her, just sitting on the railing. “I love warm nights like these,” Star said, softly.

Joseph blinked and nodded. “Yeah, so quiet…like nothing can ruin the beauty of it.”

Star looked at him. “Um, Joseph?”
“Yeah?”

She blushed. “Theres something I want to tell you…”

“What is it?”

“I well um like you…”

There was silence, only crickets, Star looked away and at the night sky. She felt him staring at her.

“Are you serious?” he asked, finally in disbeliefe.

“Um, yes I am…I'll understand if you don't feel the same….”

“Speak no more, Star,” he said, in a soft tone. She blinked at him. “Huh?”

He smirked and kiss her on the lips. She tensed a bit be relaxed and let the soft, innocent kiss embrace in a feeling she never felt in a long time. He pulled her closer to her. The wind blew, making her hair flow in the soft breeze, the black braceltes that were on her wrists dangled from her wrists. After a while, they pulled away. “I take it you feel the same?”

“No duh…”

She blushed. “I wish life could last forever…” she said, quicetly. He noticed a look of sadness in her eyes.

“Whats wrong, Star? Please…tell me…”

“I-I…” she stopped adruptly. “Nothing…nothing at all…”

Joseph was quiet and gazed out at the sky. “Why are you so happy all the time?”

Star shifted uncomfortably, a subject she didn't like. “We should go inside…before the Dorm Moniters come out.”

Joseph sighed. “Fine, but I want to know whats been bothering you. You've been late for class, you even started to isolate yourself! Star, I really want to know whats going on!”

“Nothing, Joseph! Nothing is going on! I swear on my fathers grave-whenever he leaves-that I am not hiding anything.”

Joseph looked at her. “Your lying Star, and I want to know why,”

Star scowled. “Come on, lets go inside. I gotta go back to my dorm. See ya,”

She hadnt lied about liking me, but she lied about everything else. I wish I could have seen it coming…

Star ran down the boys dormitory halls to Josephs room, tears ran down her pale face. She knocked a few times and Joseph opened the door. “Star?”

“W-we n-need to talk,” she chocked out.

Joseph looked inside his room and imformed who ever he was with that he'll be right back.

“So whats up?” They had walked to the park and sat down on a park bench.

“You know that I really, really love you, right?”

“Yeah…”

Star took a deep breath. “I need you to do something for me…”

Jospeh blinked and looked shocked. “What?”

“Tonight, at one call the cops and tell them that you want to report something…not a crime but a suicide. Will you do that for me?”

“Whos suicide?” he asked suspiciously.

Star stood up. “I'm not going to say whos. Well, will you do it for me?”

Joseph sighed. “Fine,”

She smiled and hugged him. “Thanks!”

I wish I had realized what she meant. I feel guilty because I never took notice…

Star slowly took the knife and…

---With Joseph---

He sprinted down the halls to Stars room and opened the un-locked door. `I am so stupid! I wish I realized it before,' his eyes widened, when he saw Star on the floor surrounded by her blood and a knife in her hand. She had written a note.

Joseph, if your reading this, I am sorry, I've made many mistake, and I really love you, but this is how my life has to end. Please don't cry…I needed to do this. This is the way I'll meet my maker. Remember to treasure life…you'll find more answers from Sabby and Jake. Go to them if your curious about my habit….love, Star.

Joseph let out a cry of hate. “Damn, Star! Why'd you have to kill yourself?! Fuck it, Star! You lied! You fucking pretended to be happy! I hate you!” he shouted at no one, tears of anger ran down his face. Then, he managed to stand up and call the cops.

They answered. “Hi, I would like to report a suicide.”

“Okay, whos?” came the bored female tone at the other end.

“Stars. I just found her dead…” he couldn't hold back anymore tears, he dropped the phone and started to cry, sobs racking his body.

“I hate you, Star…” he breathed out. He picked up the phone. The lady at the other end was trying to see if anyone was on the other end still. “Sorry, I'm still here. The address is Cherry Private School, 114 Dr. Room 116. Girls Dorm.”

“Okay, we'll be there.”

Joseph hung the phone up and quietly left the room and ran to the lunch room to see if Rei or anyone was there to talk to. Thankfully, Rei was.

“Joseph?”

“She commited suicide!” he cried out.

“Commited suicide? Who? Joseph, will you tell me whats wrong?” worry was written in the neko-jins eyes.

Jospeh just broke into sobs. Rei sighed and knelt down. “Joseph, what happened?”

“S-Star…suicide…I should've known!”

“Star commited suicide…” Rei whispered. “oh God…Joseph, did you call the cops?”

“Yeah, they should be here any minute…”

Ozuma came into the lunch room. “Is something wrong?”

“Yeah…Josephs upset because Star killed herself.”

“oh…my…Joseph…”

Joseph scowled. “Whatever. Cops should be here now,” Joseph got up and walkde to the main entrence.

The cops had already gone into Stars Dorm Room.

“This the girl?” the cop asked Joseph who nodded.

“Hai, it is.”

“Okay,” the cop picked Star up and carried her out.

“We need to talk to the princepal and her parents.” The cops partner, obviously a social worker, informed him.

“Hes in his office,” came the blank reply from the adolescente.

“Okay,”

I'm obviously not over it, but realized Star would have died anyways. Her father hit her so, she decided to take her own life before he murdered her. I guess the value of life is so strong that you just need to live like you were dying…sure I still miss her from time to time, but I fealt that she is apart of me in some way. I have a beautiful daughter and a lovely wife now, and my daughter is always up to something. She is the one that brought up this memory. She went through my year book.

She was curious about Star. But, I realize that her death brough good causes to. And about her father, he landed 20 years in jail, Sabby she became my wife. And all the others, they lead good causes too. But if theres one thing I love in my life is who I am. I am proud to act who I should be and not pretend, I can feel accepted and I don't need ot be pretend to be happy or to be someone else, I can only be me and value my life and live as if I was dying, because we only get one shot in life and we cant miss it…
