SUNSHINE AFTER THE RAIN

"This is one race of people for whom psychoanalysis is of no use whatsoever." - Sigmund Freud (about the Irish)

Kenny pulled his jacket around himself tighter to try and ward off the chill of the damp, misty fog surrounding him, his team, and the rest of their tour group. "Brr. Why c…couldn't we j…just have s…stayed in the hotel? W…where it's warm?" He chattered, complaining. "Not that I h…have anything against learning s…something about this b…beautiful c…country."

Hilary sighed and rubbed his hand between her own. "I told you to put on that sweater before we left."

"But it was sunny when we left!"

Tyson laughed. "Chief! And here you're usually the one lecturing me on proper outerwear."

"Knock it off, Kinomiya." Kai gave him a glare - one that was even chillier than usual. "It's colder than any of us thought it would be today." Tyson flinched from the chastising tone and shut up. In fact, he didn't say anything more at all.

The others looked back and forth between them curiously, wondering what could have happened between the two bladers to make Kai so cold to Tyson and to make Tyson so quiet lately. Before anyone could make an inquiry into the problem, however, the captain of the Bladebreakers unwound his scarf from around his neck and draped it around Kenny's - much to everyone's surprise.

"Here, Chief."

"I…ah…thank you, Kai." Kenny stared after him as he walked away, moving ahead of the group.

"Someone pinch me." Max gaped. "I must be dreaming…"

"He was actually nice to someone." Hilary observed, a little stunned. "Will wonders never cease?" A thought struck her and she turned to Tyson. "What'd you do to him!?"

"What? Me?!" Tyson goggled at her. "I didn't do anything! He's the one who…" He slapped a hand over his mouth, stopping himself from saying whatever he'd been about to say.

His friends all gathered around him eagerly, poking at him to get him to confess.

"He what?" Rei demanded.

"What'd Kai do?!" Max wanted to know.

"Nothing! Never mind!" Tyson's face melded into a stubborn expression that meant he wouldn't say anything more on the subject. "We're getting left behind." He pointed at the group that was way ahead of them in an effort to distract them.

"Ah! Wait up!" Kenny led the way as they rushed after the tour group.

All but Tyson, that is.

Once they were out of sight, he leaned against one mossy, crumbling wall and stared out over the side of the ancient ruined castle. Not that he could see much because of the rainy mist, but he still found Ireland beautiful.

Still stinging from the harshness of Kai's cold voice, he heaved a despondent sigh and allowed his cheerful mask to fall away, a silent tear slipping down his cheek to splash on his gloved hand.

Why, Kai? I can't keep up with you. One minute you burn hot. The next you're ice cold and freezing me out. Tyson wiped angrily at his eyes although it didn't stop the tears from flowing. One night. The best night of my life! But when I wake up, you're gone and I'm alone again. And then you act like nothing ever happened and like you despise me.

Okay, yes…we were a little drunk and giddy after the victory party. Still! Did it mean nothing to you? Did I mean nothing to you? His heart clenched in his chest painfully and he choked back a sob. I thought you felt something for me. I was sure you did…I mean, you wanted me, right? Or was I just convenient?

God knows I fell for you a long time ago, Hiwatari. Last night meant something to me, even if it didn't to you. He sank down to sit on the cold, damp stone walkway, drawing his knees up to his chest and resting a cheek on one knee. He listened to the crashing of the waves of the sea against the rocky shores far below the castle walls for a while, finding the sound soothing as he remembered the night before.

~~~Flashback~~~
"Woo hoo! We won, Kai!" Tyson exclaimed, glomping his captain from behind. Kai, although a little unsteady himself, managed to catch him when the younger blader listed dangerously to one side near the railing that separated them from an eight-story drop. The team had won the European Tournament, held in Ireland this year, and had been invited out to a pub by the Irish team to celebrate.
"Whoa." Kai grunted, wrapping an arm around his waist to hold him up against his side. "Yeah we did. Can't you stand up on your own? You're heavy."
Tyson had to think about it. "Uh…nope!" He grinned cheerfully, leaning on his captain happily and resting his head on one muscular shoulder. "Hmm…you smell really good." He muttered, nuzzling as Kai unlocked his hotel room door and shoved it open with a free hand.
Kai couldn't hide the shiver when he felt Tyson's soft lips brush against the pulse in his neck as he helped Tyson over to the bed and sat him down. "Here. Think you can handle taking off your own shoes, Kinomiya? Or are you too wasted?" He smiled when Tyson scowled petulantly at him and yanked a leg up to work at his shoelaces. Kai went to close the door.
"I'm not totally gone, I'll have you <hic!> know." The bluenette said, dropping one shoe on the floor and working on the next one. Once he got that off, he looked up and saw Kai watching him, his own shoes gone. "How come you're so…<hic!> not wasted? You drank as much as I did!"
Kai smirked and sat down on the bed beside him then blinked a little blearily when Tyson crawled onto his lap, straddling his legs and waist, and dropped his arms over Kai's shoulders. " 'Cause I can hold my alcohol better, that's why." His breath caught in his throat as Tyson traced a fingertip over his features, smearing his face paint over his cheeks and Tyson's fingers. Kai could feel the heat in the room suddenly skyrocket as he looked into the younger blader's heavy-lidded, dark blue eyes. "What are you up to, Kinomiya?" He asked huskily, turning his head to press his lips to Tyson's palm.
Tyson's eyes narrowed and went stormy blue-gray. "I was just thinking…that I really, really want to kiss you, Kai." He leaned in and nudged his nose against Kai's. His captain nudged back and reached up to pull off Tyson's ball cap and toss it aside.
"If you don't, I will." Kai murmured, before pressing his lips to Tyson's briefly. "I know you have few inhibitions or little modesty at the best of times, but I think it's safe to say you don't have any at all right now." Kai licked his lips and felt them tingle, one arm curling around Tyson's waist to draw him closer and the other hand reaching for the hair band holding his hair back in a ponytail. "I like it."
Tyson smirked and pounced, his mouth seeking out Kai's and capturing it. Kai growled, his fingers tangling in the now loose, silky, blue-black hair and accepting the invitation as Tyson's lips parted on a sigh, plunging his tongue into the bluenette's hot, moist cavern where he was met with fierce resistance from Tyson's own tongue.
As they battled for dominance, Tyson began to feel unbearably warm and shrugged out of his jacket without even breaking the hot kiss, dropping it on the floor behind him then moving his hands to Kai's sweater, tugging on the bottom hem to get it up and out of his pants and slipping them underneath. Kai jerked a bit at the sudden touch and fought back, his own hands wandering over Tyson's back and sides, pulling on his shirt and stopping the kiss long enough to yank it over his head and then his own.
Then they were all over each other, mouths and tongues trying to devour one another, muscular bare chests pressed together and hands seeking out the most sensitive, erogenous zones on their bodies that they could find.
When Kai couldn't take any more of Tyson's wandering, entirely too knowing hands, he broke away and tumbled his lover back onto the bed, straddling his legs and going to work on Tyson's belt. Tyson groaned and reached for Kai's, fumbling a bit but getting it unbuckled and carefully unzipping his captain's jeans over the rock hard bulge there. Kai arched his hips forward and wriggled out of the black denim with Tyson's help, the bluenette distracting him a bit with wet kisses and nips whenever Kai shifted close enough. With a moan of pure need he got off the bed and stripped off the rest of his clothes, not taking his eyes off Tyson as he practically ripped off his own clothes.
"Oh Gods…Kai, get back here!" Tyson sighed as Kai crawled back over him and then moaned as bare skin met bare skin, their naked bodies rubbing against each other. The minute they latched onto each other it was a frantic, lust-filled race to drive each other wild.
Tyson rolled over on top of Kai, at one point, and slid down his form, his mouth cruising over Kai's ripped upper body and seeking out a rock-hard nipple. He laved it with his tongue and sucked on it hard, loving Kai's noises of pleasure as he did, and moved on to the other one.
"Ahhhh, fuck!" Kai drew one of Tyson's hands down between their bodies and wrapped his fingers around his aching erection. "Touch me, Tyson!" He gasped and thrust his hips up into Tyson's hands as the World Champion complied and gave him an intense, stormy look.
"Mmm…I'll do better than that." He wriggled down farther and engulfed Kai's impressive sex in his mouth, running his tongue along his length and tasting the burst of pre-cum that erupted. Kai cried out and buried both hands in Tyson's hair, gripping and curling upwards into himself at the waves of pleasure his mouth was evoking.
"Oh yeah…" He groaned, collapsing back onto the mattress and panting harshly. "…fuck, Tyson! If you don't stop that I'm gonna come…"
Tyson shuddered and released him, crawling back up and kissing Kai desperately. "Don't you dare!" He pleaded against Kai's lips, letting the older teen roll them over again and spreading his legs wide as Kai settled between them, rocking against Tyson so that their erections slid against one another slickly. "I want you, Kai. Fuck me, please?" Tyson's hands gripped at Kai's upper arms.
"That's the idea." Kai growled in his ear, planting a quick kiss to it and moving down his neck, leaving a very visible red imprint of his teeth at the place where Tyson's neck and shoulder met. Tyson yelped and moaned, clutching Kai tighter.
The heat and the pleasure grew, sweat building in little droplets on their straining bodies. Tyson relinquished all control to Kai, allowing himself to be swamped by the bolts and spikes of need and ecstasy flowing through him at Kai's every touch, kiss, lick…
"Oh my GOD! KAI!" Tyson wrapped both legs around Kai's waist as his lover sank into him to the hilt, bumping a spot deep within that made his vision go white and tiny colored lights burst like fireworks behind his closed eyelids. "Fuck me…now…move!"
"Shit…Tyson you feel so good." Kai growled a little and shifted his hips restlessly, slowly withdrawing and then slamming back in. "AH, FUCK!" Kai propped himself up on one forearm and grasped Tyson's hand with the other, pinning it to the pillow beside Tyson's head in a clearly dominant gesture. Tyson whimpered and they began to move, a steady rhythm of in and out, harder and faster, until Tyson's gasps and pleading mewls turned to cries of Kai's name.
"Come for me!" Kai rasped darkly, finding a good spot on Tyson's collarbone and sucking on the sensitive skin. "Come, Tyson!"
"I…I…I'm…oh my…yes!" Tyson cried out one last time. "KAI!" His whole body shuddered and jerked under Kai, and his pearly essence burst forth between them and coated their stomachs. Kai gasped at the sensations of the slick walls around him gripping and releasing. And then he froze when he heard Tyson's weary, whispered confession in his ear.
"I love you, Kai."
Kai gasped and, unable to prevent his body's reaction, lost it. He thrust into Tyson desperately once more and moaned long and loud in release, coming with a force he'd had no idea was possible. He trembled over Tyson as he let loose his essence deep inside of the bluenette. "TYSON!"
He withdrew quickly and collapsed next to his lover in exhaustion, sprawling out on his stomach. Kai opened his eyes sluggishly and looked at Tyson in shock. He opened his mouth to ask if he'd meant what he'd said, but closed it again when he saw that the younger blader had passed out cold.
Kai rolled onto his side, his back to Tyson, and tried to go to sleep.
Just as he was falling asleep, he felt the bed shift and Tyson's arm slide around his waist, his hot breath wafting against the nape of Kai's neck as he cuddled up against his back for warmth.
Kai smiled faintly then sighed, not able to fight off sleep any longer and drifting off.
~~~Flashback Ends~~~

Kai… Tyson thought with a sigh. Just the memory of that night was enough to send shivers of delight through him. I've never felt anything like what you made me feel…still make me feel. Those hands…the way your touch made every inch of me burn for you. The way those eyes of yours - like hot crimson flames - would look me over and give me silent approval and the way I was finally able to see past all your walls and barriers for once. And your mouth… He couldn't stop the tiny moan that escaped. Oh Gods, that mouth…branding me and making me your own. His hand came up to slip beneath his collar and his fingers brushed against one of many places where Kai had left his mark on Tyson. The light touch sent tremors through him. Hmm…all that pleasure…and we weren't even sober for most of it. How much better could it be when we are sober? Tyson squeezed his eyes shut and squirmed at the idea. Gods! I think I'd die! But I'd die happy…

He was so absorbed in his thoughts and sorrows that he didn't even notice the presence of a young girl when she came up beside him and sat, tucking her skirts around herself modestly and studying him with avid curiosity.

"You seem to be quite sad, human. Does something trouble you?" She inquired in a light, questioning voice.

"ACK!" Tyson started and sat up, staring at her in shock. "Geez…give me a heart attack why don't you?!" He clutched at his heart. "Where'd you come from anyway?" He blinked at her. "And what's a little girl like you doing running around out here all by yourself - without a jacket or shoes?" He stared at her bare, grass-stained feet.

She giggled and stood up. "Oh, don't you worry, now, human! I won't become ill or anything." She smiled at him. "Hmm…you aren't from around here, are you? If you were, you'd know I am of the Little Folk."

"Who?" Tyson stared at her blankly.

"The Little Folk. Faeries." She clarified when he just looked at her.

"Are you kidding me? You're a faerie?" Tyson goggled at her. "Wow…"

The girl beamed at him. "My name is Maeve." She held out a hand to him and he accepted it, shaking in greeting.

"Tyson Granger." He introduced himself, getting to his feet. "You don't look like a faerie, Maeve." HE studied her with curiosity. "You look more like a little girl to me."

Maeve's delighted laughter rang out musically. "Oh my! Well, I hate to disappoint you Tyson, but I am far older than even this old castle. But I thank you for the compliment." She gestured for him to sit down and joined him on the stone walkway. "So why are you sad, Tyson?" She paused. "It's strange that your name doesn't sound quite right. Do you have another?"

"Uh…yeah. 'Tyson Granger' is the name my dad gave me after my mom passed away. My real name is Kinomiya Takao." He shrugged. "I'm gone by 'Tyson' for so long, I guess I've begun to think of myself that way. And everyone calls me Tyson anyway." He sighed heavily and slumped dejectedly. "Well, everyone but Kai, that is. He just calls me 'Kinomiya.'" He smiled faintly. "But that's only when he actually speaks. He's the strong silent type."

Maeve laid a hand on his knee sympathetically. "Ah. I understand. So this Kai of yours is the source of your sadness. Tell me about it, Tyson. Perhaps I can help in some way."

Tyson flushed pink and hung his head, fidgeting a little. "Um…no offence but I'd rather not…it's really embarrassing."

"Nonsense." She waved that off. "Come now. If you talk about it, perhaps you will feel better."

"I doubt it." He muttered. "Well, it went like this…" He began, spilling out the entire tale for her; how he'd fallen for his stoic captain when they'd been just young teens and how the team had won the tournament and then gone out to celebrate, and finally how they'd had a tad too much Guinness and once back at the hotel had basically jumped each other in an impulsive fit of drunken lust.

"And we…well, we…" Tyson turned scarlet and coughed. "You get the idea. Anyway," he moved past that part quickly, and felt a lead weight settle in his chest once again. "When I woke up the next morning, he was gone and I was alone - again. What's worse is that he's been so cold and distant to me all day. He snaps at me for no reason." Tyson felt his eyes water and sniffled. "I just don't get it."

Maeve listened patiently and sighed, drawing Tyson into her arms when he just broke down and wept. "There, now, Tyson. Let it all out." She murmured, stroking his hair soothingly. "Such a strong, loving heart you have. I can see you truly love him and that he has wounded your heart deeply. But…" she flicked her wrist and produced a tissue for him out of nothing, handing it to him. "…there are always two sides to every story. Do not give up on him, Tyson. Not yet. There must be a reason for his behavior."

Tyson sat up sniffling, wiping at his eyes and blowing his nose. "Maybe. Although every reason I can think of is bad."

"Trust me." She stated, nodding wisely. "I'm a faerie. And Irish. We both know all about brooding and romance and problems in love." She winked at him. "You could say we're experts. But seriously, Tyson. Talk to him, all right?"

He gave her a faint smile. "Id' be pretty stupid to turn down the advice of a faerie. I will."

"Good!" She looked over at a doorway as her keen fey ears picked up the sound of footsteps approaching. "I believe you are about to get your chance." She stood gracefully and helped Tyson to his feet. "Here now…" Maeve waved her hand in front of his face, erasing all signs of his crying. "That's better. I will go now before your friends arrive. Keep hopeful and stay strong, Tyson. Fare you well." As she faded into the mist, he heard her voice say, "I'll be watching!"

"Good bye, Maeve! Thank you for listening to me." Tyson gave a wave in the direction she disappeared then turned to face the music.

"Hey! There he is!" Max spotted him first. "Tyson!" He ran up and glomped the bluenette.

"Have you been up here this whole time?!" Hilary demanded, stamping her foot angrily. "We've been searching all over for you! Why'd you just disappear like that?!"

"Easy, Hil…" Rei wrapped an arm around her waist and held her back before she could pounce on Tyson and smack him silly for being an inconsiderate jerk.

Kenny sneezed and shook his head. "It's okay, Hilary! I'm sure he has a really good explanation."

"He had better." Kai growled, eyeing Tyson. "If Kenny catches a cold because of you, Kinomiya, you'll be training an extra three hours a day for a month and no days off, either."

Tyson just stared at him and didn't even try to hide the pain or sadness in his eyes. Kai frowned, but it happened so fast that Tyson wasn't even sure he saw it. The others were staring at Kai in shock because even for him it was a little harsher a punishment than usual.

"I'm sorry, Kenny." He looked away from Kai and plastered an apologetic smile on his face. "I hope you don't get sick because of me. I just needed some time to myself to think…about things." He couldn't help giving Kai a side glance and thought he saw him flinch - whether out of guilt or something else, he wasn't sure.

Before anyone could ask any questions, Kai uncrossed his arms and grabbed Tyson by the wrist, pulling him along behind himself. "Let's go, people. The bus is waiting for us and Kenny is going to get sick out here if we don't get him back to the hotel where it's warm and dry."

Tyson let Kai drag him out to their bus, but wrenched away and ignored Kai's growl of annoyance as he stepped into the vehicle and took a seat. He was beginning to loose his own temper.

The others noticed the high tension between the two - not to mention that Tyson sat at the front left of the bus and Kai at the back right - but none of them dared comment on it.

The two black storm clouds hovering over the two feuding bladers' heads and the dark, hot glares they were shooting each other when each thought the other wasn't looking sort of warned the rest of the team not to get caught in the crossfire.

Once they got back to the hotel, Hilary took Kenny to his room to take care of him and Max and Rei, sensing a thunderstorm brewing between Kai and Tyson, grabbed their swim trunks and towels and went down to the hotel's pool for a swim.

When they were alone in the hallway, Tyson gave Kai a stony glare and said flatly, "We need to talk."

Kai glared back and stalked down the hotel hall to his door. "Fine." Tyson followed him inside and was about to walk over to the chairs to sit down, but found himself being grabbed from behind by Kai, spun around and shoved forcefully up against the door. He opened his mouth to make some scathing remark, but snapped his mouth shut, eyes widening, as he stared into a pair of confused, pain-filled crimson eyes that were shiny with tears that would remain unshed.

"Why can't I keep you out of my head?" Kai questioned, his voice thick and full of confusion and…fear. "I thought…for one night…maybe I could get you out of my system and off my mind! Instead, I…I just want more. Why?!"

"Now you know how I've felt since we were thirteen, Kai." Tyson said, quietly. He went limp in Kai's grip and asked to be released. "Let me go, please."

His captain blinked and did so automatically, taking a step back then turning away from Tyson and moving farther into the room.

What is up with him? Maeve was right. He does have a reason. Oh, Kai…I should have seen it! Tyson took a deep breath and let it out slowly, following slowly behind his captain. He watched Kai sit on the end of the bed and bury his face in his hands with a noise of frustration. You're afraid, aren't you? You've never felt this for anyone and you don't know what it is so you don't know how to deal or know what to do.

"Tyson…I…" Kai raised his head and Tyson melted at the vulnerability in his flaming eyes. "I don't…I think I've screwed up. Have I?"

"No." Tyson went over and sat down beside him, staring blankly at the opposite wall. "No, Kai, it's not your screw up. I think we both made assumptions and got a little confused, maybe a little ashamed." He reached out and grasped Kai's larger hand, their fingers linking together and gripping tightly. "Are you mad at me? Did I do something wrong?"

Kai was silent, struggling through his thoughts and emotions. Then he finally said, "No. I guess not." He glanced at Tyson. "I'm sorry if I…for being a jerk and an asshole today."

It was a very rare thing to get an apology out of Kai.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for worrying everyone, too." Tyson squeezed Kai's fingers then released him, standing up. "You're still my friend, Kai. Always." He took a step toward the door but stopped as Kai's hand wrapped around his wrist tightly. He looked over at Kai in question. "Kai?"

Kai stared up at him from the bed, eyes full of something the bluenette couldn't identify. But there was a flicker of one thing that made Tyson catch his breath.

"Just friends?" He whispered. "Nothing more…"

Tyson stared at him, his heart skipping a beat then pounding in his chest. "I'd be something more, Kai, if you want me to be." He replied, breathlessly.

Kai stood and stepped up close to him, still holding his wrist. "I…I really do, Tyson. I don't want to be just your friend…I love you."

Tears pricked Tyson's eyes and he threw his arms around Kai's neck, hugging him tightly. "I've waited a long time to hear you say that." He breathed in his ear, nudging his nose against Kai's and their breaths mingling. Their mouths lightly brushed against each other, leaving their lips tingling and wanting more.

"I need to hear it." Kai said, lowly. "I need to hear it from someone who really means it. Tyson…no one's ever told me they loved me and meant it. I don't know how…to do this emotional thing." He looked into Tyson's deep, midnight blue eyes and found himself just drowning. It gave him a pleasant little thrill that, he realized, he didn't really mind.

In fact, he liked it.

"That I can do." Tyson laid his palm against Kai's cheek, his thumb softly stroking and not noticing as Kai's face paint smeared a little on his fingers and over Kai's cheek. "Kai…I love you. And I'll help you learn how to do 'the emotional thing.'"

"Oh God." Kai had a horrible urge to cry and swooped in to press his mouth to Tyson's in a needy, desperate but loving kiss. He made a low noise as Tyson's fingers tunneled into his hair and grasped the younger blader's hips firmly in his hands, drawing him closer until the front of their bodies were pressed together from head to toe, the kiss growing more and more passionate.

Tyson moaned against Kai's assault on his mouth, their tongues tangling and each doing his best to drive the other wild. Oh this is so much better sober. Was the only thought he could form coherently.

The two were so immersed in each other that they didn't hear the knock at Kai's door or notice when it swung open to admit their teammates and a girl with flaming, curly red hair down to her knees, piercing green eyes like emeralds - and bare feet that were grass-stained.

"Hey, Kai? Have you seen…Tyson…Oh. Wow." Rei trailed off, goggling as Kai and Tyson tumbled onto the bed still trying to devour one another and their hands started wandering - underneath clothes.

"What? Rei? What's going…HOLY CRAP!" Max came up beside him on one side and Kenny and Hilary on the other, their eyes going wide in shock.

Hilary blushed at a particularly loud moan from Tyson and covered her eyes. "Dear Gods. Someone catch their attention!"

Kenny smothered a laugh and glanced at the girl who had introduced herself as Maeve. "Oh geez! Ah…don't look, Maeve. You're just a bit young to be seeing this…"

"What nonsense." She waved him away and stepped forward, clearing her throat. "Excuse me, Tyson, but now might not be the best time to be doing this particular activity."

Her voice penetrated the fog in their minds and they broke apart, panting and blinking at each other. Kai licked his lips, smirking in satisfaction at Tyson's slightly glazed eyes and dazed expression. Then he looked over at the group and glowered in annoyance.

"There'd better be a good reason for interrupting us." He said, raising an eyebrow at them. Tyson shook himself out of his fuzzy minded stupor.

"Wha…? Oh!" He blushed bright red. "Uh…hi, guys! What are you all doing here?" Then he noticed Maeve. "Maeve!"

She smiled brightly at him. "Greetings, again, Tyson. I see you took my advice and have reconciled your differences."

"Yep!" Tyson ran a hand through his mussed hair sheepishly, moving off Kai to kneel on the bed. "Thanks, by the way. So…what are you doing here?"

"Oh, I just wanted to check up on you, that's all." She bounced over and hugged him. "And now that I have, I shall be going!" She looked over her shoulder and gave Kai an imperious, arch look. "You had better take care of one another, Kai. Make him cry again and you'll deal with me." She looked back at Tyson with a smile. "May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand."(1) And with that obscure statement, she disappeared.

Everyone but Tyson stared in stupefaction at the spot where she'd been.

Kai tapped his lover on the shoulder and said one word. "Explain."

"Maeve is a faerie I met at the castle. I was feeling a bit down when she found me and asked why I was so sad." Tyson shrugged as if he met such magical creatures every day and it was no big thing. "So I told her my problems and she gave me some advice - which I took." He gave Kai a meaningful look and the corner of the captain's mouth turned up a little in a sort of half-smile. "That's it. I guess she just wanted to make sure I did what she advised me to do."

"A faerie!" Kenny gasped. "Oh wow! I never thought I'd ever see one!"

"Me, neither, Chief!" Max nodded his blonde head in agreement.

"And here when she found us down at the pool I thought she was just some strange little Irish girl who was a fan of Tyson's or something." Hilary looked floored. "Amazing."

"So what were you two fighting about anyway?" Rei wanted to know, his curiosity getting to him.

"None of your business." Kai responded mildly, giving them all a warning glare. "Tyson and I worked it out and it doesn't matter anymore."

Tyson just smiled and didn't say a word.

"Oh, I see." Rei nodded sagely, a wicked glint in his eyes and a knowing ring to his voice. "A lover's spat."

Kai growled and started to get up but Rei was already out the door, his laughter echoing down the hallway. Instead of chasing after the neko-jin, Kai just shot the rest of the team a look and said, "Shoo!" Then he grabbed Tyson around the waist as he made to get up and tumbled him back onto the bed as the door closed behind Kenny, Hilary, and Max. "Not you. I'm not done with you yet, Kinomiya."

Tyson shivered and grinned up at him at the sound of Kai's commanding purr of a voice. "Glad to hear it. So what were you planning to do with me?"

Kai bent and hungrily kissed him, letting one hand slide slowly down Tyson's side to grasp his hip then slip back up under Tyson's shirt to feel bare skin that tingled at his touch. Tyson gasped and shifted restlessly, wrapping his arms around Kai and returning the kiss passionately.

After a few minutes of kissing and groping one another, Kai broke away and simply held onto Tyson while he tried to catch his breath.

"Kai? What's wrong, love?" Tyson lay there and ran his fingers through silky, silvery, blue-black hair over and over, loving the way it slipped through them like water. "Why'd you stop?"

"It's just…something Maeve said." Kai replied, quietly, nuzzling Tyson's neck and breathing in his scent deeply. He raised his head after planting a few whisper soft kisses over his neck and stared down into deep blue pools. "Did I really…make you cry?" At Tyson's tiny nod, he sighed. "Why? What was it I did? Was it just because I was being an asshole?"

"That was part of it." Tyson admitted. "It wasn't all you, either, Kai. I was…expecting too much, I suppose. At the time, I was really upset because I had thought that night meant something to you but the way you were acting and the fact that I woke up alone suggested otherwise. I started feeling sorry for myself and Maeve found me, and I just started crying."

Kai swallowed. "Oh God, Tyson…I'm sorry." He dropped his forehead to rest against Tyson's. "I promise to try really hard not to make you cry ever again."

"Hey! Stop being all guilty." The younger blader chided, gently. "I told you it wasn't all you, Kai. We're together now and that's all that matters. Sunshine after the rain." Tyson brushed his lips across Kai's.

"What's that mean?" Kai asked, curiously, shifting against Tyson and placing butterfly kisses here and there over his face and back along his jaw.

"Just something Gramps once told me. 'T-Man,' he said, 'There's always sunshine after the rain. Don't let things get ya down, ya dig?'"

Kai chuckled at Tyson's impression of his grandfather's voice and speech pattern. "He's very wise, on occasion, isn't he?"

Tyson shrugged. "He's Gramps. Now…" He tugged on Kai's shirt impatiently. "Are you going to finish what you started, or am I going to have to finish it?"

"As if. I like you right where you are, love. Under me and wanting it." Kai's smirk was softened by the love in his crimson eyes as he pinned Tyson's wrists to the mattress. "Wanna find out how it feels to screw each other senseless when we're completely sober?" He inquired huskily.

Tyson gave him a heated, 'come-hither' look. "Thought you'd never ask, Hiwatari."

As they latched on to one another and the clothes began to come off and fly around the room in a frenzy of passionate sex, the mists cleared, the rain stopped, and the sun blazed brilliantly in the afternoon skies above the Emerald Isle.

And a faerie smiled with satisfaction.
