Chapter 1
The day was rainy. The Bladebreakers were somewhere in the dojo doing something, Kai was somewhere and Tyson, well Tyson was in the kitchen. Tyson walked out of the kitchen only to find Kai with his bags in hand, heading out the door. That meant only one thing. Kai was leaving yet again and Tyson wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
”Kai, what are you doing?” It was a stupid question and Tyson knew it. He wanted to know that his theory was correct so to speak.
”I'm leaving. There's nothing here for me.” Tyson felt his heart shatter into millions of pieces that wouldn't be able to mend again. Kai quickly left out the door of the dojo leaving a broken Tyson in the middle of the room. He sank to his knees and let the tears fall, not caring if anyone saw him. Anyone and everyone he'd cared about or loved abandoned him at one time or another, with the exception of his gramps, but he was always gone on trips. The rain outside was the only thing Tyson could hear at that particular moment. He felt so devoid of happiness, no life, just pain and not the physical pain, but the pain that couldn't be mended. Footsteps echoed throughout the nearby hallway, telling Tyson that someone was coming, but Tyson stayed in his spot on the floor letting everything bad that had happened to him set in. That was how Rei and Max found the normally happy and loud blader. When they first set eyes on him, sitting there with the heartbroken look upon his face, they knew that Kai had left, that and it was practically written all over his expression. Everyone on the team knew that Tyson loved Kai, except Kai himself.
“Tyson?” Rei asked. He got no reply except sobs that got louder. Drops could be heard as well, since the rain had stopped for a moment.
“He left. Again.” Tyson had a lost look on his face, and when one looked at him, one could tell Tyson would never be the same again. He got up off the floor slowly and headed to his room, not uttering a single word.
Tyson's PoV
Everyone in my family has abandoned or been taken away from me sometime or another in my life. The only one who hasn't is my grandfather on my father's side. My dad is an archeologist and refuses to see me, Hiro is never around, my mother rejected me completely, and Kira- my twin- live with my grandfather on my mother's side. My grandfather on my mother's side happens to be none other than Boris Balkov. No one but the family knows that, not even Kai. Kai, that name brings so much pain, though I still love him. I can't stop loving him.
I enter my bedroom and lock the door. I know I'm withdrawing. I can't help it. Last time I withdrew, I nearly died because I had attempted suicide. Kira found out and stopped me. She was the only one who kept me from committing suicide. I never told my teammates, but I'm very suicidal. I even had to go to a mental institution when I was little. About my past. When I was about 3, a curse was placed upon me that everyone I loved would leave. The curse has prevailed as of yet. It's one of the reasons I remain naïve. I know I made a mistake when I became best friends with the Bladebreakers. Before my mother rejected me- due to my curse- she used to beat me. My brother, Hiro, used to tie me up and lock me in the closet, leaving me there for days. If you think Kai's past is bad, that wasn't even the half of my story.
I see the silver razor blade that I have always kept in my room. I've always had a razor in my room. Old habits die hard. What a truthful saying. I look at the scars on my wrists. They're from past cuts. I hear Rei and Max come up to my door.
”Hey Ty. Are you alright?” I laugh a dry, void laugh, a laugh with no emotion.
“Am I ok.” I laughed bitterly. “Do I sound ok?” I know they're looking at the door shocked, mouths hanging wide open. They can get over it. I go to the door and unlock it. They come in as I thought they would. “Did you know when I was little I had to be taken to a hospital so many times because I had severe depression and was diagnosed extremely suicidal?” They're most likely staring shocked. I sit on the floor and grab the razor blade, making sure they see me. “I had a lot of problems when I was little. I was even cursed. A real curse too.” My voice was hollow and monotone.
”Tyson? This isn't like you.” Rei's voice was filled with worry.
”No, your wrong. The Tyson you know was just a mask. You know the saying, `Old habits die hard?' it's weird how one saying can explain almost everything.” With that I took the blade and slid it across my wrists at an angle that would be fatal and deep enough. I sat there while I quickly slipped into a black void.
End PoV
Three weeks later at the hospital
“Kai!” Max and Chief said, running up to the stoic leader. Rei stood there, looking extremely pissed. Kai raised an eyebrow at Rei.
“So you've finally decided to grace us with your presence eh? Hmph. I honestly think that we could've done without you. Did you know that after you left Tyson almost committed suicide? And in front of me and Max too. He's been in a coma ever since. So why did you even come here?” Max sighed at Rei's attitude towards Kai.
”Rei, calm down at least just a tad. Rei isn't happy with you, as you can tell. The doctors say that Tyson may never wake up you know.” Max said, sadness in his voice. Kai stood there wondering why they were so mad.
”Mr. Dickenson called me and told me to meet him here, for your information.” Kai said in a harsh voice. Rei glared even harder.
”Well don't expect us to welcome you with open arms anymore.” Rei said and lunged at Kai.
