Chapter 16.
Rei snuggled his face into the mat of hair beside him. Judging by the heat in his chest, he's holding onto his boyfriend. This would be a daring thing to do at his house; sleeping after sex, his Uncle would walk in and all hell would break loose. That's why it was better to do it over at Tyson's; actually when he thought about it, he hasn't been over here in ages.
This feels good... He thinks to himself. I've forgotten what it's like to just be happy and carefree- not worry about my problems, or keeping my grades up. Squeezing Tyson in such a grip he thought he might wake the boy up, Rei sighed a comforted smile onto his face. Too bad me and Tyson can't live together.... We'd escape from my uncle and our troubles.... and just be happy. We wouldn't have to hide how much we love each other if it's just us. Crack!
His hand snapped up to his forehead, face wincing in pain. But I'm not normal... I'm NOT! And nobody will want me this way! How can they!? Tears filled his eyes, sliding down his cheeks in escape from the problems in his head, again, as they couldn't take it for another second. Rei wished more than anything he could run like they do. Sniffling; he jumped from start when a finger came up to his cheek wiping the tears from his face.
"Rei?" Said Tyson in a wide awake voice so chances were that he wasn't asleep at all. Sitting up on one elbow, he looked down at his lover with a frown. "Why are you crying? Did I hurt you?"
That only seemed to make him cry more. Tyson looked as though he were about to cry too if Rei didn't stop. Scooping him into his arms, he held him there in a hug and let him cry a moment. The other boy needed this, more than Tyson could ever know. But he hated crying, it always left the door open for the others to get to him. Wiping his face with his hand, he moved away from Tyson staring him right in the eyes with a saddening look.
"Tyson,"
"Rei, if I hurt you than I'm sorry." He grabbed a hold of him again, squeezing him tighter. "Please stop crying."
"I'm sorry." He sniffles again. "I'm not crying because of you. I'm happy that we made love, it's just that...."
"What?"
Rei was quiet a moment taking in a shuddered breath, he sighed and asked. "Tyson, if I were different... would you still like me?"
"Different how?" He didn't understand what Rei was talking about. How could he be different? His boyfriend seemed alright to him.
'Different how?' Answered Rei's question and it just made him wanna cry more. Wrapping his arms back around Tyson's neck, he wanted to tell him about it. He didn't wanna be alone with the secret anymore. But Tyson... he's... so into superficial things, how could Rei not feel like he'd be abandoned by his lover and Ozuma. I really am different from them. I kind of wish I had never passed that test, I wish I could have been ignored like the rest of the world at school. Just a letter below the better. Alone... to deal with this by myself. No lives to ruin because they knew me. No one to make personal fun of someone they used to know because they never would have known me.
"Rei... Don't be sad anymore... please... you're starting to scare me."
"I'm sorry. I just... felt like crying." He wiped his face again, then looked at his boyfriend with a smile.
Tyson made a sound of understanding; still wiping away his loves tears. "See now, all smiles."
Rei laughed that off. "I'm not two. Geez." Looking over at the clock, he did a double take. "It's getting late, you should head out to school."
"Yeah," looking at the clock as well, his eyes widen in shock. "OH MAN WE OVER SLEPT!!" He sprang from the bed and over to the closet in one swift movement. Sliding the door over, he jerks his track clothes from the hanger then exits the bedroom calling over his shoulder. "You coming with me, Rei?"
Looking down at his naked form, he leans over the side of the bed and grabs his boxers to slip on. "Can you even hear me now?!" He called to the boy knowing that he is heading out to the bathroom.
"Yeeeah, go aheeead!"
"Ha, I don't think so if you have to stretch," he paused when sliding into his pants. "Your words." Tugging his shirt over his head, he smoothed out his clothes before leaving the room. Going after Tyson to the bathroom; Rei can hear the water even from the distance he is from the room. "Tyson? I'm gonna go home and change and shower, okay?"
"Okay, but don't be late!" He yelled over the water. "I'm running in the second and third and sixth."
"Okay!" Giving him an unseen wave, he trotted out of the dojo and headed home.
.............
By the time Rei reached his house it was 5:45; he wondered if he even had time to shower. Chances are he should just get dressed and go. Heading up to his front door, his hand froze at the knob.
He's in there... waiting for me... Withdrawing his hand, he looked at the large door. I'll bet he left the therapist office and came here.... No! I have to stop this! He's not real! He's not! Taking a deep breath, he reached for the knob again. He wasn't gonna let 'Crack' it get to him, not today, not after he was feeling so good just a while ago. Before the knob could twist from his doing it, the front door pulled open startling Rei out of his skin.
"I'm sorry master Rei." says Junpei. "I thought you might have forgotten your key so I opened the door for you."
Rei still seemed shaken, though he was looking right at the man. Shaking his self back to his senses, he walked inside. "It's okay... I was just... thinking too hard, you startled me a bit."
The man nodded and stepped out of his young masters way. The Chinese boy slipped from his sneakers into a pair of house slippers and started for the stairs. Pausing before he went up, he looked over his shoulder at the man.
"Uuh... Junpei?"
"Sir?"
"....Is my uncle home?"
"No, sir. He's at the restaurant." He added afterward. "I think he's cooled off about the mirror, though, it would be best if you didn't do it again."
"I won't." He went up the stairs two at a time to get to his room faster. He hated being alone anywhere with people he didn't know and no chance of someone he does know to come around anytime soon. It's unnerving.
Gathering something old to wear to school; he then went to the bathroom and checked to see if there were any towels in there already. After dropping his things off on the shelf, he returned to his bedroom and stripped out of his shirt. A second thought got him to feel around inside his pants pocket, then his shirt pocket; his hands are trembling now as he searches for his last pill but he can't find the bottle! He was sure he brought it to school with him, so than where is it?!
Ah ha! Pulling it from his jacket pocket, he looked spooked because the last pill wasn't safely inside. What happened to it? Did I drop it?! Miki ran through his mind, then he recalled falling asleep on her couch. That bitch must have picked my pocket, what am I fonna do? Shaking the dizzy feeling he repeats himself. What am I going to do? He felt spiders creeping up his spine, running around the scruff of his neck. His whole body hummed with fear and he knew that if he didn't lie down he was going to lose his mind and it wouldn't be pretty.
Propping his pillow up against the rim of the bed, he lay on his back and closed his eyes. He remembered Dr. Yang telling him to do something like this when he left his pills at home or if he ran out of them. Just find somewhere to lay down and breath deeply; tell himself that he's safe, and he's fine, and nothing will get him.
I'm not alone... No one is going to get me.... I have people everywhere around me. He hugged his self and tried to keep tears back. Think of Tyson... Ozuma... Kai and even Tala. They're my friends and they'll keep me safe..... At least until.... they figure me out and abandon me.....
Kai walked into Rei's room. He looked at this wall and that with curiosity. He's always wanted to see the inside of the house but Lee never invited him over and there was never any other need to be in there. Spotting the owner of the room laying out on the bed, he smiled and placed a box down on the floor beside the door before closing the door after him. The help had let him in, and said he could go right upstairs. Walking over to the bed, Kai slipped onto it and straddled Rei's hips. The other boy didn't move an inch. For a moment Kai thought that he was sleeping, but when he saw his face scrunch he placed his hands on his chest.
"Rei," he whispers. "Is it alright that I'm here?"
"....Yes. I'm lonely."
Kai chuckled softly. "No your not." He rubbed his hands up and down Rei's chest, heavily, giving him a massage. For a second he thought that his crush would push his hands off, but he only sighed and dropped his hands to his thighs. Gasping from the tingle that shot up his legs, the affectionate Russian, fought the urge to do more and continued working at the sleepy boys tense nerves. He wondered why Rei was so tense.
"Do you feel okay?" He asked. "Is it alright that I do this?"
Rei nods. He didn't trust his mouth to speak correctly when he was this far gone. He might say something stupid. Kai continued to massage him; hands smoothing out the tension of his arms and shoulders, up to his neck and scalp. The bed struck boy seemed to like having his head scratched, so Kai took as much time there as he could. He ran his finger nails in circles, scraped them up and down, gave the boys hair gentle tugs and finally he combed it with his fingers. The Russian has to admit he liked doing that part most of all too. Rei's hair was so soft and silky; a lot better than when he brushed it after their shower and it was still a bit wet.
Leaning over, he closed his eyes and took in the scent. It was strange, like orange cream mixed with something else that smelled distinctly of another person. Probably this Tyson whatever. He knew nothing of him except for the fact that when he was in the eighth year the boy was called to the principals office for something he had done and that was it. He never saw the boy, though he could guess which boy he is, if he were to leave school the same time Rei did. Moving down a bit more, he smelled Rei's lips. Even they smelled different from the first time he was this close to him, in the boys bathroom asking him to his party.
Being in love with him as he always was, though, now actually having the right person. It felt as though his wishes for Lee to be around him were just some odd dream and that all the time he was really trying to be around Rei. Why else would he have asked him to come? Most of the time when he liked someone's brother to sibling the invite was handed to never went both ways.
The Chinese boy opened his eyes and looked at him. The intensity of the gaze, shook Kai to his soul. All the sparkle in the boys eyes seemed lost to another world, leaving only a husk of a frightened boy that he's never seen before. His gray eyes followed Rei's hand that landed on his cheek; he closed them when he felt the caressing touch brushing the maroon triangles drawn on his cheeks.
"Kai?"
"Hm?"
There faces are still so close. So close, in fact, if they were to really get talking they'd be kissing with every word.
"You like me... don't you?"
"I love you."
The boy beneath him turned his eyes away for a second then back. "Why? Why do I deserve your love?"
"Because that's how I feel, even if you don't return it, it'll never change."
Rei nodded to that. "But why?" His watch beeped, six o' clock but it was ignored, maybe even unheard.
Smiling, Kai holds onto the boys cheeks, nuzzling his forehead to his. "It's when you can't find an answer that you know it's real. I could say, I love you, because I think you're cute... I could say, I love you, because you're a good person... I could love you for any reason, but... looks fade.... people change... and since I can't explain it," He grinned now, using a sweet yet teasing voice that would make sugar say 'I'm diabetic.' "That means I love you in here." He removed his hand and touched his chest where his heart is. "Not up here." He touched his head.
At first Rei smiled, but it quickly shrank back like a frightened child finding out that his father knew he had left the house when grounded and now he was going to get a switch taken to him. "You shouldn't.... I'm not like you.... And bad."
Kai cocked a brow to that. I think he might be more tired than I thought. Maybe I should let him rest, I can give him his present later.
"Will you stay here with me, Kai? I don't wanna be alone."
"Of course I will. And hey," getting up, though, wishing his dream haze wasn't about to leave him, he went over to the door and grabbed the box he had brought in with him. "I've got something for you." Holding it out, he smiled. "An early Christmas present."
"Ahaha. Christmas is seven days away, you couldn't hold on to it?" He said sitting up and getting some of that sparkle back into his eyes and voice.
"Mm-mm." He shook his head. "I wanted to give it to you now."
Taking the box, he looked it over, then took off the bow. "Wonder what it is." He lifts the lid from it and his mouth drops to his chest. "A kitten?!" The honey colored animal leapt from the box and onto Rei's lap, where it curled in a ball and purred. Pushing the box out of the way, he picked the thing up and held it into the air over his head. "He's so cute!" He nuzzled his nose to it's cheek. "I hope he didn't cost too much."
"Naah, he's actually mine."
"Yours?"
"Mmhmm. I can't keep him because my Grandfather hates cats and... you know. I thought if anyone would love him and give him a good home it would be you."
"Uh-huh." He laughed. "Are you sure it isn't because you think I look like a cat?"
Laughing, Kai brushed his fingers through the other boys hair. "Of course I think you look like a cat- a really cute cat." His hand fell to the kitten. "But mostly, I think you'd like to have some company... for when you feel alone?"
Rei looked up at him. "Oh that... It's just nothing.... I tend to get a little down sometimes... sorry."
"Don't be. I tend to get down too." Sitting beside him, he pulled his legs in and turned his head to look at him. "Anytime you need to talk, I'm here."
I wanna say something- but I can't... No one will understand. How can you?! you'll ask me questions that I can't answer and that'll only make things worse because then you'll treat me like a special case. Thanks Kai, but I can't tell anybody. Smiling, he nods. "I will. Thanks."
"No problem."
Laying the animal back on his lap, he cocks his head. "So what's his name?"
Kai blushed. "I don't know. You can change it."
That made Rei laugh. "Now I'm curious, this little guy looks awfully familiar to me... Like I've seen him somewhere before."
"What?"
"I'll bet I know his name," he nudges Kai with his elbow. "It's Leecat!"
"Rei!"
"Okay... How 'bout.... Nekolee?"
He swatted at the boy but missed since he ducked. "No. Cut it out."
"Don't tell me...? Catastrolee!?"
"It's Raion! Okay? I called him Raion..." He said lamely.
"Aahahaha. Lion. That's so cute!" He looked at the kitten, examining it with the name placed on it. "It does look like a lion, doesn't it?"
"Yeah, that was kind of the point when I bought it...."
"Hahaha, that's okay. I know we look like the feline crowd, except for my uncle who looks like a cat fish. But even that's a cat!" Laying his head on Kai's shoulder, he sighed. "I like my brother too. and don't worry, I won't tell him you creepily got a cat and named it after him."
Kai picked up a pillow and popped Rei one, but the Chinese boy just laughed it off.
