Chapter One

Simplicity. Her life was the opposite, since she was merely seven months old. Why then, the reader may ask. It was quite simple, that was the first time she'd picked up a beyblade. Not just an ordinary beyblade, but a powerful one. A power surge rushed through her body. Most were injured by this impact, but this child was something different. Normally, Boris wouldn't take a female into the blading academy, however, while watching her at the children's orphanage, he noticed that by age two she could wield great power. Not to mention the strage occurences that seemed to befall her. Like the ability to walk out into the frozen wasteland surrounding the city and come back hours later, not even chilled. She obviously was indeed a special child. Ever since she found that beyblade, which seemed like a miracle in itself, her abilities began to grow. So, at the age of three, he recruited her with a large sum of boys, including his boss's grandson.

By the time she was eight, she was ready to go pro. Anyone could see it. Her style and ability to take pain that made others weak was very impressive. Everyone knew that even though she was the only girl in that academy, she was treated just like everyone else. She had her own group of friends. It was her expertise that had brought out the serious contender in Voltaire's grandson, Kai. She'd shown him skill at the age of five, and he wanted a part of that skill. So she tutored him for hours on end, into the darkest hours of morning. Everyone knew she was most definetly the best there. She was strong and willful. Boris noted that, unlike everyone else, she didn't always listen to him, or break to his techniques that made all of her friends 'Biovolt soldiers.' She had something in her. Something he couldn't break. That's why he created Black Dranzer. He'd never seen her use her bitbeast, aucually, he forbade most to, until they could control themselves and their blades. Most had cracked and used whatever was in their bit. If anything. She never did. She kept her best abilities a secret. Even from her instructors, and her best friends. If Boris or anyone did matinence on her blade, which was once, the bit was removed, and kept in her posession. She let no one touch the sacred spirit that had merged with her soul.

The reader may also like to inquire Boris Balcoff's reasons for wanting Black Dranzer to draw out the power within the girl's blade. This, was his ultimate plan. He wanted her to lead in the fights against the world with her bitbeast, but first, he had to shock her into a defeat to brainwash her. He figured to tempt her best friend with it, who was a more talkative version of Kai. That was enough to scare someone. The defeat would be drawnout and painful. This would crush her soul. Or at least that was the plan.

He noticed her eyes that morning, they weren't calm or excited to begin her blading for today. It was then, that Boris realized that she knew. When he was caught staring, her eyes were a deep jade-blue. Her solid glare was made lethal by her narrowing eyes. She proceded to give all her friends a taste of what Boris got, making everyone except Kai flinch out of fear. Kai's mouth was in a twisted smirk. Boris took note of the exchange. She was very instinctive, sensing changes in her environment.

"Something the matter, Az?" A pet name. He always refered to her as that, to shorten her real name, Arizona Zena Calinez. She seemed to be named as such for a reason. She looked at him.

"Lose the cocky attitude, Kai. It's not you." Her voice was calm, but she used an authoritive voice.

"Put your blade where your mouth is. You obviously don't know me that well." He had a twisted smile on his face as she agreed. The girl didn't back down from any challenge. Her determination was admirable.

She turned to Boris, a slight trace of fury raging through her eyes, like a warning before a storm. "That had better not be Black Dranzer, because if it is, you don't want to see what damage will befall your greatest creation."

"I did not give him Black Dranzer, he stole it," She wasn't stupid. She knew that this was a set up. And she knew that the other biovolt soldiers were aware of this happening. She didn't like it.

Boris taped that beybattle. He wanted to use it to show Voltaire later on. So straight off the launch the two blades, Kai's being black and Arizona's being a deep dark blue, circled each other. She then stood her ground as powerful attacks were launched at her. Now, any other person in the arena with Kai wouldn't notice, but she wasn't normal. This was definetly not his style. He wanted to fight her on his own time, when she dubbed him as good as she could teach him.

She could hold her own against the twosome, it wasn't so difficult, but the fact that there was no way to get the boy out from the bit beast's control was simply jarring. Especially when he said these six words.

"Screw the blade, get the girl." She'd felt pain, pain that would make the normal person vomit. This, however was a rather large amount of pain, especially from the power that this black falcon had administered to fifty blades yesterday. It was simple then, by the way she judged the blood running down her torso.

"Hey Boris, you wanted to see my bit beast, so here you go." She paused, taking a simple deep breath and drew her arm into the air. "Sintana, it's time. I call upon you. Show these fools what happens when you mess with a sovirgness bit beast."

Black Dranzer never stood a chance against the fire that was summoned by the eight-year old and the pheonix.

Eight Years Later

Long silky, dark chestnut hair, eyes with an untame rouge blue-green sparking from them. It was midnight. The wind blew softly, the only sounds one could hear were the wind dancing and the water from the river flowing. She always loved the way she was in tune with her environment, sensing change or a disturbance. She always knew when a storm was coming. And she loved that ability. She felt a change then and there, someone approaching her, unaware of her presence. Most were when she was out at night, for she wished for her soul to be at peace at these late hours of night. She skipped a rock into the water, watching it bounce halfway across before auctually being pulled along with the current. She knew who was there. And she knew he wouldn't want to know it was her. So she waited for his first questions.

"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" The teenage boy questioned her sternly, using a superior tone.

"My name is Zena, and I know well enough that your name is Kai. I'm just thinking, but now I'm leaving. Goodnight." She mentally slapped herself for lying, and then once again for usuing her middle name. She didn't want him to link the two, but considering the circomstances upon how he remembers his past, she didn't figure it would be an issue.

"You don't have to leave. I don't own this land," Kai said, a certain uneasiness coming across in his voice. He had no idea why he was compelled to being nice to her. It was almost an instinctive thing.

The girl closed her eyes, her dark hair being blown across her face, blocking her eyes, a good cover. She was usually determined by her unusual orbs. "It's not you," She said, her voice soft, but smooth, "But I have to get back before it rains."

"There's nothing in the forecast about rain." Kai had no idea why he was making excuses, or why he was talkihng with an absolute stranger.

"Meteorologists don't always prove accurate," She said, her hands sliding to her hips. "If you want, I can give you a ride." She knew that this was slightly against her whole secretive plan, but if she ever wanted him to consider her a friend, she had to start somewhere, right?

"Hell, why not, I've got nothing to lose." He said, approaching her. His mind still seemed to be nonresponsive, considering that he was acting noticibly out of character.

"Ever ride a motorcycle?" She asked, walking up the stairs to the road.

"Once or twice," He responded, taking the second helmet and proceding to put it on. Her bike was a dark blue-green, that looked black at the first glance. It was a Harley Davidson custom, meaning that this girl was well off. She also put on her helmet, as well as some light blue tinted shades, and got on the race bike. He did as well, and felt almost obligated to lock his arms around her waist. Which he did, instinctivley. Her eyes danced slightly under the shades, knowing that he had no idea how long she'd waited to feel his touch. He could tell that she was built strong, like a blader, even though her black tank.

They sped out through the night, taking the long way around the city. He noticed how she was different. She wasn't some swooning fan of his, like ninety-five percent of the girls in the world. So obviously she was someone he'd have to see again.

It was almost one, by the time they got to Tyson's home, where Kai was staying for the time being. She simply waited for him to get off, never taking off her helmet or her shades.

"Thank you," He said, softly, but sincerely. He leaned over and have her a soft peck on the cheek. "Will I see you around?" He asked. This girl was intoxicating, and mysterious, how she never showed her eyes.

"We're a lot alike. I'm sure we will." She then turned the bike on, and sped away in the direction she came. As he turned and took a step toward the outer gates, two things happened.

A.) It started to rain.

B.) Kai had just caught the entire bladebreakers team staring at him incredulously.

"What the hell are you all doing?" Hiro yelled, coming up behind his brother and his team, obviously angered. "Curfew was an hour ago. Training now starts at five am! Get to bed, all of you!" The entire group did as their "coach/older brother", said, not bothering to say anything to anger the older teen.

Hiro was now deep in thought, seeing as he had heard the exchange between the two. And it pissed him off. He met that girl, back in New York City, two years ago. And he had one thing on his mind. What is she doing here, and why is she with him?
