Bleach Fan Fiction ❯ Afterthought ❯ One-Shot
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Ishida finds that Kurosaki’s uniform annoys him.
It’s not the numerous rips and tears, haphazardly patched, that get to him the most. He’s patched a few of those holes himself, when Kurosaki finds it convenient to bring Ishida his uniform shirt along with the animated plush toy. His patches at least are more professional than Kurosaki’s mere attempts. At times like those Ishida enjoys knowing that Kurosaki owes him.
After gym class Kurosaki never bothers to tuck in his shirt. To Ishida, who takes pride in his appearance, the uniform is a constant, growing annoyance. Why, he asks himself constantly, does Kurosaki come to school so impeccably dressed (for the redhead’s standards), when by the end of the day he looks like a hoodlum?
Ishida asks him one day at lunch, when the thought occurs to him.
-----
“Aa?”
Ishida’s question, out-of-the-blue, surprises Ichigo. He stares a moment at the Quincy, food-laden chopsticks frozen between his bento and his mouth. When Ishida repeats the question, unperturbed by his stare, Ichigo sets his chopsticks down, eyebrow beginning to twitch.
What is with Ishida’s obsessive freakishness, huh? So what if he doesn’t tuck his shirt in after gym? The only reason he comes to school even halfway presentable is because his old man insists on it. Ichigo hasn’t fought his father on the subject since his first day of junior high. It had been the beginning of his rebellious phase and his father had caught him trying to leave for school with no jacket and an untucked shirt.
Ichigo never wants to feel his father’s hands down his pants ever again.
Glaring, the redhead picks up his chopsticks and begins, determinedly, to eat, not looking at Ishida. “None of your damn business,” he mutters.
-----
Kurosaki is obviously no help, Ishida realizes after the lunch incident. The Quincy tells himself that he doesn’t really want to know why, he just wants Kurosaki to fix it.
Ishida realizes the fact that he’s noticed the uniform at all means that he’s been staring.
-----
It is a week later when the irritation finally drives the Quincy to fix the problem himself.
So, after gym class on Tuesday, when Kurosaki is still wet from the showers, Ishida stalks up to the substitute Shinigami. “Stop it,” he says, knowing that he means the uniform and more.
Kurosaki starts to look belligerent, so before he can utter a word of protest Ishida shoves his hands down the front of the redhead’s pants-- to fix the damn uniform, the Quincy tells himself-- and kisses him, for good measure. It’s almost an afterthought, really.
Kurosaki never leaves his uniform untucked after that.
