“ So many down below….and only one up above. Wish they could float up until all were above and the only thing down below was the dark blue color of the ocean….”

“Ichigo!” Rukia, yelled, shaking the substitute shinigami out of his blank stupor.

“Huh-what” Ichigo said, glaring at Rukia.

“What were you doing, staring out of that window like a mindless zombie”

“You didn’t see it” Ichigo said

“The….the angel.” Ichigo said softly, as if he were afraid to acknowledge the presence of something otherworldly, despite his frequent trips to Soul Society and his friendships with numerous shinigami.

Rukia almost laughed. Angels There were no such things.

“You idiot. Angels are not real. They’re made up.”

“She was floating in the sky, with white wings, in a long white dress, and she was singing in a foreign language, with a sad expression on her face.” Ichigo said.

“Ichigo, there are only shinigami, hollows, and souls in this world.” Rukia said.

“What about the espada, and shinji, who wields a hollow mask and a zanpakutoh”

“They both are mixtures of shinigami and hollow.” Rukia said, she had just recently learned about Shinji, who, like Ichigo, had the powers of both a shinigami and a hollow.

Ichigo didn’t respond. He knew Rukia’s words were the truth, but he knew he had not imagined the angel he had just seen.

Ichigo pressed his nose against the window, eyes searching for any signs of the angel he had just seen, but his efforts were in vain, she was gone. Ichigo sighed. He was starting to believe that he had, in fact, just made the whole thing up. But if that was the case, then why had he heard her sing?

That voice. It made him want to weep. It was so beautiful.

Wait, it really was her voice, she had returned! Her white dress billowed in the wind, and she looked down at Ichigo with sad blue eyes, her hair, the color of a golden wind.

“Rukia! Look.” Ichigo said, pointing out the window.

Rukia looked, but all she could see was the blue of the sky.

“What There’s nothing but sky.” Rukia said.

Ichigo knew that Rukia was telling the truth, but how come he was able to see and Rukia couldn’t?

He was going to solve this mystery once and for all.
