Ishida Uryuu enjoyed practicing many things, actually. Practicing helped hone his focus. However, there was a certain quiet the instant between sighting the target and releasing the arrow that was difficult to re-create elsewhere.

 

Ishida meditated, like anyone who wanted to use their spiritual powers to their fullest potential, but it just wasn't the same.

 

Uryuu liked that quiet, and that focus. It helped him focus on other things as well, such as channeling spiritual energy, or schoolwork, or sewing.

 

Or hating shinigami.

 

Ishida Uryuu enjoyed practicing archery for more than one reason, after all.
