Chapter 1: Lost within the Rain

Ichigo started to awaken groggily. 'What's going on? Last I remember, I had asked Urahara to save Keigo.'
Ichigo thought as he silently groaned at the headache that came. He started to hear voices quietly speaking.
"Kurosaki-san should be okay. In fact, he should be waking up soon." Ichigo heard Urahara say.
"Thank Goodness, those injuries looked a little deep.." He heard Inoue say.
"Well we shouldn't worry about Ichigo anymore. By the way, what is the date?" Renji asked.
"June 17th." Urahara said calmly.
Ichigo flinched. 'June 17th??? It's already THAT day????? I see..I wonder
why I had forgotten? I usually NEVER forget. I must get ready and go visit her grave.....After all,
it was my fault she died...I should at the least atone a little by going to visit her on this day.' He thought as
he started to open his eyes.
"It's good to see your awake, Kurosaki-san." Urahara said quietly.
"Yeah, I'm fine...Though I gotta get dressed and go somewhere for a bit." Ichigo said as he got up.
"It won't be safe with the Bounto and those Bitto." Renji said calmly.
"I don't care, Idiot. I just need to do something important. " Ichigo said as he sat up and rummaged in his backpack for
a change of clothes.
"Idiot! Going out there could get ya killed!" Rukia yelled as she walked in.
"Sorry but it's something very important to me." Ichigo said as he grabbed the clothes and walked out of the room.
He quickly changed and went back in the room to grab his shoes.
"Kurosaki-kun...Can we go with you?" Inoue asked quietly.
"No....I'm sorry Inoue but this is something I prefer to keep secret." Ichigo said calmly as he grabbed his shoes.
"Kurosaki-kun....." Inoue said worriedly.
"Don't worry, Inoue. It won't take too long." Ichigo said as he quietly left the room. He walked to the store entrance
and opened the door.
"I'll be back soon!" He said loudly as he stepped out and headed towards a nearby Flower Shop. He quickly picked out a
bouquet and paid for it. He then started his long trek to the cemetery. As he walked there, he noticed that it was
starting to rain.
'It seems to be like that day.....That horrific day six years ago.' Ichigo thought as a fresh wave of grief, regret,
and guilt hit him. He forlornly looked ahead as he continued walking. He didn't notice as five people followed him on
his long walk. His thoughts swirled around that day, remembering what had happened. He stopped suddenly and the five people
also stopped. "who's there?" He suddenly asked quietly. Renji, Rukia, Inoue, Wiring, and Jinta looked shocked as they
knew they were caught. "Didn't I tell you not to follow me? Could you please go back? I'll be fine..I promise." Ichigo said
quietly as he turned to look at them.
"Where are you going Ichigo?" Renji asked frustrate.
"Why do you need to know?" Ichigo said as he turned around and continued walking.
"Dammit, you idiot! Ever since you woke up, you've been acting unusual. What the hell is wrong ya, ya idiot??" Renji asked angrily.
Ichigo turned around and looked at Renji.
"It's nothing." Ichigo said calmly even though inside he was frustrated. 'Can't they leave me alone, just for today?' He though
miserably. Renji walked over to where Ichigo was.
"What the hell is wrong, you dumbass? It's not that I'm worried, but Rukia is. When Rukia gets worried, I get worried. So spill,idiot!" Renji said as he
looked at Ichigo's turned back. Ichigo turned around and Renji stared in shock.
'What the hell???How can he look this forlorn and sad????what the hell is going on?' Renji mentally thought in shock as Ichigo's sad
expression pierced his very soul.
"It's raining....just like that day..That day six years ago today. The day, that my Mother died. No...she didn't die..She was murdered." Ichigo said as
he turned around and walked towards his gloomy destination.
Renji stared in shock. 'His mother....was killed? Six years ago today??? No wonder he left..He's going to visit her grave...' Renji thought quietly.
Rukia put a hand to her mouth. 'No wonder he wanted to leave so badly...He must have heard the date while we were talking....I'm so sorry Ichigo.' she thought
as she stared in shock.
Inoue started to cry silently as she watched him walk off. 'Kurosaki-kun.....Is that why you never smile? I'm so sorry..I shouldn't have followed you.' She
thought as she fell to her knees and cried.
Jinta's eyes widened in shock. 'Spikey Head looked so forlorn...Did she mean a lot to him?' He thought as he watched Ichigo's
rigid back as he walked away.
Ichigo tried to shut out the sobs as he walked away to no avail. 'Don't cry..Please...it was all my fault she died..There isn't a need to cry over me
....Please stop, Inoue.' Ichigo silently pleaded as he got farther and farther away from the group. He didn't notice that there were other people watching him.
'So there's more to the Kurosaki then we originally thought. I must tell Kariya-sama.' a certain Shinigami thought as he flickered out of sight.
Ichigo silently looked up at the raining heavens. 'It's always raining on the most horrible days of my life..Almost as if the heavens cry for me...
but why cry for a murderer like myself? Why? I'm not worth it...I'm not worth it....' Ichigo thought as he looked down again and stopped suddenly, arriving at his destination.
He silently opened the gates and walked through the concrete path that seemed to stretch for miles. He silently walked by the Grey grave markers.
He stopped at an ordinary looking one and silently dropped the bag that contained the flowers. He silently took the flowers out of the bag and gently laid them at the base of
the marker. He silently looked at the name engraved in the cold, hard stone and sighed sadly. He stared at the "Kurosaki Masaki" Marker and looked downwards.
'I'm sorry Mother...I'm so sorry for what I did. I promise to watch over Father, Yuzu, and Karin..to protect them..like I couldn't protect you.' Ichigo said as he looked up at
the pouring heavens again. He sadly smiled and slowly picked up the bag. He then slowly trekked back to the Urahara Store.
What he didn't notice was that he now had eight shadows following him.
'Why does that kid look so forlorn?' Three of the shadows silently asked themselves. After he left, seven of the shadows stopped and went over to the Grey Grave Marker.
"Kurosaki, Masaki." Kariya quietly read.
"It seems that this woman is his mother who was murdered six years ago from what I heard." Ichinose said quietly as he remembered his Taichou's death at the hands of Zaraki.
"This Kid..There was more to him....Maybe we should find out more about this kid....After all, he understands the pain of losing someone." Koga said quietly as he sadly remembered his friend Cain.
"Hmm...I still don't trust the kid..." Mabashi said as he watched everyone's reaction to the grave.
Meanwhile, Ichigo walked silently, watching as the rain drops hit the sidewalk. Suddenly a car drove by and splashed some water on him. He suddenly remembered a memory of that sad day.
~Flash Back~
Ichigo, age 9, started to wipe the water that had splashed on his face from a car that drove by.
"Here, let me help with that." His mother said in her usual soft voice as she used a handkerchief to wipe his face off
"Maybe I should walk on this side from now on." She said as she wiped his face.
"No, that's okay Mother. I can handle it. I got a raincoat on." Ichigo said as he let his mother wipe his face off.
"No, I insist. Besides, until you can beat Tatsuki, you can't do it." His mother said teasingly.
"I nearly beat her the other day, mother." Ichigo said in protest. Suddenly Ichigo looked up again.
"what is it?" His mother asked as she saw his uncertain face.
"Can I hold your hand?" Ichigo asked quietly.
"Of Course." His mother said as she held out her hand and gave him a heartwarming smile.
Ichigo grasped her hand and smiled back.
~End Flash Back~
'I really was pathetic back then...I couldn't protect her...No! I can't think this now....I have to wait...suppress these feelings for now..I can't worry everyone.' Ichigo thought as he suddenly stopped and suppressed the
horrible memories and emotions. He didn't notice the huge shadow behind him.
Meanwhile the Gotei 13 were readying themselves to go to Earth.
"Remember the mission is to kill Ground Fisher and be rid of him. Any other Hollows are also to be killed." Byakuya said as he quickly reminded Chirrup, Zaraki, Yumichika, Ikkaku, and Hitsugaya why they were going to Earth.
"I just hope that this Ground Fisher ain't a weakling." Zaraki said as he grinned manically.
"Ken-chan, Your so weird." Yachiru said as she hopped onto his shoulder with a huge smile.
"I wonder if Ichigo will be there?" Ikkaku said quietly.
"I hope so...I've been meaning to have a rematch." Zaraki said as his evil grin grew even bigger.
"I hope so too, Ichii is a cool friend." Yachiru said as she flashed them a cute smile.
"Well, let's hope this mission is a beautiful and graceful one. I do not wish to defile myself to touch ugliness." Yumichika said calmly.
"Hmm....Well this will be interesting for sure." Hitsugaya said quietly as he sweatdropped at Yumichika's comment.
"...."Byakuya silently stayed quiet and opened the portal.
Ichigo suddenly froze as he finally saw the shadow. 'What the hell??' He thought as he slowly turned around. He wasn't expecting the clawed hand that slammed him into the ground.
He groaned softly as he felt his bones crack.
"Finally we meet again, Kid." A sinister, loud voice said as he pushed Ichigo further into the ground.
