Chapter 4: Zoe's lie

"Well, that was easy!" said Sakura, after the class took a math quiz. It was Monday morning and Sakura was gathering her books together.

"Yeah, for you maybe…I hate math!" replied Madison, frustrated, "I probably got like an F-."

"Now c'mon Madison, I'm sure you didn't do that bad," said Chelsee, who was listening to their conversation.

"Hey guys c'mon! Stop lingering!" yelled Nikki, "We got late to English class last time cause of your chitchatting!"

"Alright, alright, hold your horses girl!" said Rita.

"Well, I'm gonna go get my English books from my locker. See ya guys in class!" said Sakura walking out of the classroom.

Sakura wasn't in a rush to get to her locker. She had been thinking about Takuya for the past few days and didn't know what to do. Deep down inside she knew she liked Takuya.

Sakura got to her locker and opened it up. She got her books out and expected Takuya to walk upto her any second. She turned around and jumped. Zoe was standing right in front of her.

"I know who you're waiting for Sakura!" said Zoe, cruelly.

"I don't know what you're talking about Zoe. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get to my English class," Replied Sakura.

"Don't like to me Sakura! You can forget about Takuya, He's already asked me to the dance…and I've accepted."

"What!?" Sakura couldn't believe it.

"Yup, that's right. He finally realized that you aren't worth it."

I…I…," Sakura didn't know what to say.

She started to run away from Zoe. Tears were flying from her eyes. Suddenly she bumped into someone.

"Sakura! What happened? Are you ok?" asked Takuya.

Sakura looked up.

Why did I have to like him? How could he do this to me? I should have known he didn't mean it when he asked me to the dance.

"Sakura, what's wrong?" Takuya asked again.

Sakura walked away fast into the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and wiped the tears away from her face.

Just forget anything ever happened. Stop crying…forget about Takuya!

But she couldn't, no matter how much she told herself to forget about him, she couldn't.

She washed her face with water and went into her class.

School had just ended and Sakura was waiting on the front steps for Madison to come out. She heard someone come out of the school behind her and thought it was Madison. When she turned around she saw Takuya. She felt like beating him.

"Sakura, why aren't you talking to me?" asked Takuya, worried, "Did I do something wrong?"

Sakura looked down and tried to ignore him. He took a seat next to her.

"Listen, I really want to go to the dance with you Sakura," Takuya said.

She couldn't believe it. He was still going on and pretending that he liked her.

"No, you listen! Stop bothering me! I didn't do anything to you. I know you're pretending!"

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean!" Sakura stood up, "you want me to think you like me, then at the end you and your friends will have a good laugh!"

"Sakura that's not true!" Takuya stood up too, "How could you even think something like that!"

Somehow Sakura could tell that he wasn't lying.

"But…" Sakura cried, "didn't you ask Zoe to go with you?"

"No, I didn't. Why? Did she tell you that?"

"Well, yeah she did."

"She's lying Sakura! I would never do that!"

"…she is? I didn't know."

"Never believe what Zoe says. Anyway, I really want to go with you Sakura."

"But why me? There are so many other girls you could take."

"You're…different. Well? What do you say, will you go with me?"

"Hmm…I don't know," Sakura smiled.

"Oh please, please, please! I'll get down on my knees and beg if I have to." Takuya smiled too.

"Oh ok…yes," Sakura had been dying to say it, "YES!!"

"Great! So uhh…can I call you tonight?"

"Ok, sure, I'll give you my number."

"No, it's ok, I already have it."

"Huh? You do? How?" Sakura was surprised.

"Oh…I have my ways. Well see ya Sakura!"

"Ok, see ya Takuya!"

As Takuya walked away Sakura started to feel all jumpy inside. She was so happy. All she could think about was Takuya. Then she realized that Madison hadn't come out yet. She got up and went into the school to look for her friend.

"Madison?" Sakura called, "Madison where are you?"

Sakura walked down the hall and spotted a girl from her English class.

"Hey Sarah! Have you seen Madison?"

"Yeah, her and some other girls are talking in the lunchroom."

"Alright thanks!" Sakura made her way to the lunchroom.

"Madison c'mon!" Sakura shouted through the lunchroom.

Madison looked up. Zoe gave Sakura a sour look but Sakura just ignored it. She was too happy to worry about Zoe now.

"Oh, sorry Sakura! I totally forgot you were waiting for me!" exclaimed Madison, "Alright, bye guys!"

Madison and Sakura left the school and started walking home.

"Sakura?" Madison asked.

"Yeah," replied Sakura.

"Well, Zoe told us that you want to go with Takuya to the dance. And you're trying to get him even though he already asked her."

"WHAT!?" You don't believe her right?"

"Well…no, ofcourse not! Anyway, I think I found a date for you."

"You did? But I already have one!"

"You do? Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I just said yes to him today after school."

"Who is it? Oh, please tell me Sakura!"

"I'm going with Takuya Kanbara! Well bye Madison!"

Sakura stopped in front of her house and walked in leaving Madison speechless outside.
