Chapter 3

<A dark alley somewhere behind a big building>

[Naru caught her hat just before it flew over a fence. She brushed the dust of it and wore it. She then looked around to see where she was. Suddenly, she saw something knock over the trash can in the corner of the fence. She stepped back a bit, but suddenly stopped. She gasped as she went over to the corner of the fence.]

"Naru? Where are you?" Heero called out as he entered the dark alley, "Huh?"

[Heero stopped dead as he saw a filthy looking guy clinging over her sister who seemed to have a hard time moving.]

"You keep away from my sister!!!" Heero exclaimed, angrily as he go the filthy looking guy by the collar of his shirt and punched him in the face, which sends the guy flying over the brick wall of the building and hitting it hard, leaving him unconscious, "You pervert!!!" "Heero, stop it!!!" Naru exclaimed as she ran over the unconscious guy, "Why'd you do that?!" "Huh?" Heero said, looking confused, "I thought he was hurting you..."

[Naru walked over to her brother and hit him in the head.]

"Hey!" Heero exclaimed, rubbing his head, "What did you do that for?!" "He's sick, okay?!" Naru said, angrily, "Orkashii I was just trying to help him!" "Huh??? And when did you become the Good Samaritan?" Heero asked, looking confused, "How'd you find him?" "Shut up, Onii-chan... He just found me..." Naru said, looking at the grubby looking guy, sitting lifelessly on the wall, "C'mon! We need to help him!"

[Before Heero could answer back, Naru pulled him over to the unconscious guy and ordered her brother to carry him]

"Wait!!! Why are you ordering me around?" Heero said in objection, "And why should I even carry him?!" "I can't carry him, okay?! Like duh..." Naru said, irritably, "Besides, you're the one who knocked him unconscious!" "Okay! Okay! You win... Great...just great..." Heero said, carrying the guy on his back, "I'll do it... This can't get any worse..." "Let's bring him over to Aunt Haruka's old tea shop, maybe it's still open..." Naru suggested leading Heero out of the dark alley. "What?! I can't carry this guy up that steep hill!!!" Heero exclaimed, crossly, "You're really trying to kill me, aren't you?!"

(Giggles were heard from Naru)

"What?!" Heero asked, looking bewildered. "Can't you see I was joking?!" Naru exclaimed, laughing hard, "Did you see the look on you're face?! As if you saw a ghost!!!" "Darn you... Ha ha!" Heero said sarcastically as Naru laughed some more, "Quit it will `ya?! Once we get home, I'm gonna strangle her... she'll see..." "Sorry, bro... I couldn't resist..." Naru said, trying to stop laughing, "C'mon... I saw a sushi bar just around the corner when we came here..." "Let's get going then... this guy's heavy..." Heero said as he followed Naru to the Sushi bar.

<A few minutes later; outside the Men's Comfort Room of the Sushi bar>

"What's with the pail, Heero?" Naru asked, trying to wake up the unconscious man. "I thought you wanted to wake him up?" Heero said, holding up the pail over the man's head then pushing Naru away from him, "Well... watch and learn..."

[Heero dumped the contents of the pail over the unconscious guy's head which made Naru scream a little. The guy suddenly stood up from the seat he was sitting on. He shook and wiped his face as he looked at Heero then at Naru]

"Where am I?" the guy asked in surprise as he suddenly backed away from the twins, "Who are you?!" "Hey! Hey! Hey!" Heero said, putting down the pail he was holding, "We're just trying to save you, man!" "Yeah... we deserve some thanks... `ya know!" Naru said, poking the man's chest with her finger, "We had a hard time bringing you here!!!" "What do you mean, we?" Heero asked angrily as he hit Naru on the back, "I was the one who carried him all the way!!! You didn't do a thing!!!" "Well I stopped you from killing him!!!" Naru exclaimed stepping on her brother's foot, "That's much better than carrying him!!!"

[After a short quarrel, the guy separated the twins.]

"Wait! Stop it you two!!!" the guy said as the twins looked away from each other, "First of all... Thanks for, uh... rescuing me but I just know right now who you guys are?" "C'mon, let's talk outside..." Heero said, signaling them to follow him to a table, "It's kinda weird... `cuz we're talking and bickering outside the toilet area..." "I couldn't agree more..." Naru said, sitting on the table beside her brother after noticing the smell of the toilet area.

[After the all three of them sat comfortably down on their seats, the twins ordered some food as the guy looked at them with utmost curiosity.]

"I'm Heero by the way..." Heero said, catching the gaze of the guy, "I'm her twin brother..." "Oh... So that's why you two look so much alike..." the guy said, looking at both of them then looked at Naru, "So, may I ask for her your name?" "I'm Naru Acosta... sorry if we sot of soaked you..." Naru said, noticing the guy's wet clothes, "Actually, my brother soaked you, not me... I'm not connected with any of his doings!!!"

[Heero hits Naru on the head as the guy laughs at them. The twins look at him and then smiled at each other while Naru kept massaging her head.]

"Sorry to laugh at you guys..." the guy said, "It's just that... I sort of... haven't laughed for a while..." "Huh? Really? How come?" Naru asked curiously as she stopped massaging her head. "Wait, we haven't asked for your name yet..." Heero said as the waiter each gave them a glass of iced water. "I'm Lei Yu... I'm 15 and I don't have a permanent home..." the guy said, softly, "because I was just adopted..." "Well, that isn't too bad, is it?" Naru said softly, sipping some of her water, "You still have a family, right?" "Actually, I left them behind..." Lei said gloomily, "At the age of 10..." "Huh? Why though?" Heero asked as the waiter served them their sushi's and tempuras, "They were killing me in that damn house of theirs!" Lei said angrily, pounding his fist on the table, "You wouldn't believe what they're doing to me!" "So... Where are you sleeping now?" Heero asked, curiously as he munched on his sushi. "I live in the streets now, I hide every now and then from the police who roam around in the alleys, drunk." Lei replied, looking hungrily at the food before him, "Sometimes, I beg near grocery stores for money to buy at least a piece of bread..." "May I just ask... when I found you a while ago, why were you unconscious? Did a police catch you or what?" Naru asked, kindly as she added, "Oh... and the food before you are yours... You can eat it..." "Really?" Lei said in surprise as his eyes widened. "Yeah... but we'll join you in finishing those... `Cuz we haven't eaten ourselves..." Heero said as he got his 2nd serving of sushi. "Just don't finish everything, bro..." Naru added as she ordered some cakes for their dessert. "Thank you very much..." Lei said, eating some Kani tempura, "I don't know what to say..." "Well, you haven't answered my sister's question yet..." Heero replied, "And try not to eat in a hurry or you might choke..."

[Lei ate a few handfuls of sushis as the water served them three slices of chocolate mouse flavored cakes. Lei's eyes widened once more as Naru gave him a slice of cake. After finishing his meal, Lei sighed as he drank some water.]

"Sorry about that... but I've never tasted anything like this before..." Lei said smiling, "Actually, the day before you found me... I was working hard in the bakery..." "Bakery? You had a job?" Heero asked, sipping some of his water. "Yeah... a week ago, I was hired by a bakery... my job was to carry the bread from the factory to the bakery itself by hand... I was working hard; I even took night jobs..." "Hmm... you're quite hard working..." Heero said. "My 1st payment is one week after they hired me... but they didn't give me any money..." Lei said, angrily, "They just gave me a dumb piece of bread..." "What?! That's a dirty trick! What did you do?" Naru asked, looking concerned. "I told them that I worked hard! So why were they giving me just a piece of bread?!" Lei said, "And you know what?! They just laughed at me! Then they beat me up then kicked me out of the factory..." "Was that building, the factory?" Heero asked. "Yeah... I lay there among the trash hungry, cold and helpless... I thought I was gonna die..." Lei explained, "Not until you two found me... without both of you, I'd think I wouldn't live..."

[The twins look at each other, feeling quite sympathetic towards the guy. Heero sighed as he got a piece of paper and pencil from his pocket. He wrote down something on the paper then gave it to Lei.]

"Here... if you need any help, try coming to this place..." Heero said, "Maybe they can help you out..." "Huh?! Oh no! I can't take this!" Lei said, shoving the piece of paper back to Heero, "You've already done too much for me..." "No... It's alright, just take it... it may do some good you know..." Heero said, giving back the paper to Lei.

[Lei looked at the piece of paper for a while, and then sighed. He put the paper in the pocket of his jeans as the twins stood up. Lei stood up as well, following them out of the Sushi bar.]

"Well... we need to go..." Heero said, patting Lei's back, "Take care of yourself, man..." "Yeah... take care Lei..." Naru said smiling as the twins waved good bye to Lei, walking farther and farther away from him. "Thankyou...(Waving back at the twins)"Lei thought.
