Chapter 40

"The Last Defense"

"Yugi? What are you going to ask me?" asked Sakura.

Yugi looked at Sakura. "Umm, well, I was going to ask you if, umm, you would," said Yugi.

"Yes?" asked Sakura.

He looked down. "Now's not a good time, I'll ask you later."

"Ok." Said Sakura.

Syaoran was now at the same altitude as Diamond.

Diamond started laughing. "You're a fool! Why do you try to save this planet? You know you can't, it's all over."

Syaoran smiled. "How about we make the stakes a little higher?"

"Go on."

"If we win, you give us three wishes."

"Sounds fair, but if you lose, all three of you will be my slaves… forever."

"Fine, it's better than dying."

"All right then, let's begin."

They started sword fighting. Both of them had the same speed.

Diamond grinned. "ICE ATTACK!" he yelled. All of the sudden, ice crystals began to come out from Diamond's sword. Syaoran started dodging all of them.

"I see how you want to play." Said Syaoran. "FIRE BLASTER!" he yelled. Fire came out from Syaoran's sword.

"Who's the fool now?" asked Syaoran hitting the ice crystals with his fire.
Diamond gasped. "What?!"

"Prepare to be blinded by me!" exclaimed Syaoran. He aimed his fire blaster at Diamond's and shot fire. He hit Diamond's left eye.

"AAAAAGGGHHHH! DAMN YOU!"

Sakura and Yugi…

"All right! You got him!" exclaimed Sakura.

Yugi looked suspicious at Diamond. "Hmm, maybe he did, I don't know."

Back to Syaoran and Diamond…

"ARGH! I HATE YOU!" yelled Diamond.

"Too bad." Said Syaoran. He shot more fire at his whole body. "Now I'm going to burn you death!" He kept shooting him, non-stop. When the smoke cleared, no one was there.

"All right! I kicked his a$$!"

"Are you sure about that?" asked a voice.

"What? You're alive?" asked Syaoran.

It was Diamond, good as new.

"What, you thought this was going to be easy?" asked Diamond.

"Yeah, but I'm not disappointed." Answered Syaoran.

Diamond grinned. "You will be when you're dead!" His brown eyes turned blue.

Syaoran smiled. "Wow! You changed the color of your eyes, that's going to kill me for sure!" he started laughing.

Diamond grinned. His eyes starting glowing, then, beams came out.

"What the heck?" asked Syaoran dodging them.

"You're no match for me!" exclaimed Diamond shooting the beams faster.

One of the beams hit Syaoran in the shoulder.

Sakura and Yugi…

"Oh no! He's hit!" exclaimed Sakura.

"Why don't you use the heal card?" asked Yugi.

"Oh yeah." Sakura raised her wand. "HEAL CA,"
Diamond shot a beam at the wand, which caused it to slip away.

"My wand!" exclaimed Sakura running to the wand.

Diamond grinned and shot a beam at the wand. The beam was so powerful that it destroyed it.

"NO!" cried Sakura. Tears started to come down her eyes. "NO! KERO! YUKITO! THEY'RE BOTH GONE, AND I CAN'T DO ANYHING ABOUT IT!" Yugi walked to her and hugged her.

"I'm sorry Sakura, you just gotta let things go, and they were going to be stuck in there anyway."

"Yeah, but they sacrificed their lives for nothing. That wand was like my life. Now, it's gone."

Syaroan's POV

Syaoran clenched his fist. "Nobody makes my Sakura cry and gets away with it."

Diamond grinned. "Your Sakura? It looks more like Yugi's Sakura, don't you think?"

"What?" asked Syaoran. He looked at Sakura and Yugi.

Sakura and Yugi POV

"Thanks for making me feel better, I mean, Syaoran can handle him, right?" asked Sakura.

"Yes, but he's toying with him, and that could lead to some consequences."

"Yeah." She looked happily at Yugi. "I feel like I've known forever, you know?"

"Yeah. Same here." They leaned closer and kissed.

Syaoran POV

"No! She's going to pick him." Said Syaoran.

Diamond pointed his finger at Yugi. "We can make life so much easier without Yugi. If I kill him, Sakura will be all yours."

"All mine?" asked Syaoran.

"Yes, all yours. There's only one thing you have to do for me. Give me the power Sakura gave you."

"What?"

"I'll destroy Yugi, you give me power, and in addition, I'll leave earth alone. It's a double deal."

Syaoran thought. = Should I do this? =

Diamond grinned. = He's going to fall into my little trap! This is perfect! =

A beam formed into Diamond's finger. "Just give me the word, and I'll destroy like the bug he is."

Syaoran looked at Sakura, then at Diamond.

Sakura and Yugi POV

Their kiss ended.

"Yugi, I love you so much."

"Ditto." Said Yugi. = Now's a great time to ask her…=

They stood up.

"Hey Sakura, I'm going to ask you the question I've been trying to ask you since, well, the Green Card mission."

"All right."

Yugi reached for his pocket and took out a case and kneeled.

"Yugi?" asked Sakura suspiciously.

"Sakura, I know we're only sixteen years old, but I can't wait any longer." He opened the case, inside was a ring with a big piece of jewelry. "Sakura Kinomoto, will you marry me?"

Sakura's eyes widened.

Yugi waited for an answer…
