Card Captor Sakura Fan Fiction ❯ An American Cardcaptor ❯ the trouble starts ( Chapter 1 )
I know what y'all are saying... or at least thinking. 'You have 3 stories going at once! Finish those first!' But you know how plot bunnies are. You may start with one or two of them... But then... They multiply until you have zillions of them. That you will 'Never' finish. I use the word 'Never' as a general term. You may finish say three or four out of the whole lot.
This one is going to be a CCS story, sorry all you GW fans.(I write gundam wing fanfiction too. 1x2, 3x4 5x6x13 4 eva) This idea came to me while I was reading some stuff on FF.net, and listening to "Cuando No Es Contigo" by only god knows who.(I can't remember who sings it. I think maybe it's Christina Aguilera, but i'm not sure. And yes, I know spanish. I'm a 3rd year spanish student.)
Warnings :This will contain some slight shounen ai/shojuo ai. As well as a little (actually, a lot) of My chara+Yue.
Disclaimer : Do I really have to say this?? C'mon man, you know I definitely do not own CCS or it's characters, as much as I wish I did...
P.s. this is set at a college. Er..i'm just a high school student, so I have no idea what a college even looks like, so I'm just guessing. This story takes place about three years after sakura and her family dies in a car crash. Touya has been re-incarnated, powers and all, As the main characters older brother. Yukito, is once again playing the part of the best friend...only he's not so clueless about who he really is. Actually, for the story and my sanity's sake, He and Yue are the same person. One conciousness between the two. Sorry for all of those who like the split personality type stories, where Yuki is totally clueless about what he is. But I don't like the confusion of writing it.
19 year old Michelle Kunikida rolled down the hallway of her dormitory, grumbling about her sadistic, machosist myths and legends professor.
"Stupid professor. . .why did I let Chicharu and Rika talk me into taking that class. Just because he's Rika's fiancé. . .It doesn't stop him from being evil." She muttered, adjusting her hold on her pile of textbooks. Suddenly a familiar voice yelled out to her.
"Michelle! Wait up!" A firey redhead yelled, running up the stairway to catch up with her friend.
"Konnichi'wa Hilary." She said, not lifting her eyes from her books. Her roomie gave her a classic, 'There's-got-to-be-something-wrong,-I've-been-friends-with-you-long-enou gh-to-tell.' Look.
"Ok. Something is wrong with you. You normally either jump in surprise and spill your books everywhere when I yell for you, or go wheeling in the opposite direction. Spill. Before I make you." Hilary said. A flat look crossing her face.
"Fine. Stupid professor Terada. . . y'know, Rika's fiancé. The Guy that teaches my Mythology/legends class? Well I should say, 'the Sadistic, machosist, jerk that wants to dig my grave for me,' Gave me the hardest assignment he could possibly think of. We have to write a paper on a specific legend, or myth, and he had to give me the most impossible one." Michelle said, pushing herself along next to the girl.
"Which would be. . .what exactly?" Hilary asked, as she opened the door to thier shared room. Or basically, the two bed, office cubicle with a tiny closet, and barely enough room for a desk, a table, and Michelle's wheelchair.
Michelle rolled in and threw her books on her bed.
"The legend of the Clow cards, or more precisely, thier so-called creator . . . Clow something or another."
Hilary looked at Michelle, and raised her eyebrows in a sarcastic 'Ok-I-have-absolutely-no-clue-of-what-you-are-talking-about.' fashion. Her next statement reflected that.
"Ok. . .I have absolutely no clue of what you are talking about, and Right now, I'm happy I didn't go up on Rika's offer to take the class." She muttered.
"You can always drop out. . ."
"Yeah, but I won't recieve any credit that way either."
"True."
"Damn. . ."
"You. . .have my utmost sympathy. . . all I have to say is, Have fun writing that paper hon."
"What paper?" A heavily accented male voice intruded.
"Just a paper for the teacher from hell...Mikael! Don't do that you moron!" Michelle screamed, earning a look from several students in the hallway.
"Do what?" Mikael Dovmkevch asked innocently. The russian student flashed a devil-may-care grin.
"That! That whole 'sneak in when the girls least expect it to happen thing!" Michelle yelled.
"Michelle. . . the door was open. And I came to pay a visit to my girlfriend. Is that a crime, or do I need to report to the "Kunikida office of unallowed things to do in a Dormitory?"
"Ha, ha, funny Mikael. Really funny. Baka."
"I know . . . aren't I?"
"Bakahashinakyaranai." She muttered.
He rolled his eyes." Explain to me again. . . why does your best friend have to be Bi-lingual?"
"Kutabare!" She growled.
"I don't know what she said, but I'll take that as a compliment."
Hilary sniggered."She said 'Fuck you."
"Oh. . . then right back at'cha." He said.
"Damare." she growled.
"Again, I have no Idea what you said."
"I told you to shut up. Oh yeah and another thing. Omae O korusu." Michelle glared.
"Someone's got a case of P.M.S. today."
"No. Just blame a certian Mythology professor, and my Biology professor, who's name is Mr.Crowe." Michelle glared.
"Ah. Another teacher I have grown to despise. He loves to jump down your throat at the slightest hint that your not paying attention. Heh, I'm thankful I don't have him again this year."
"But your a sophomore. I'm a freshman. Make sense?" Michelle asked, rolling her eyes at the moronic speech of her friend.
"True..."
"Hil, I'm going down to the library to see if I can dig anything up on this damned topic, so I can maybe scrounge a C on this." Michelle said, grabbing a pad of paper, and a hand held voice recorder."Theres suppossedly a copy of this down in the special collections. I'll try my luck there."
"Good luck." Hilary said, as Michelle headed for the door. Michelle snorted derisively, and muttered,"I'll be needing it."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
As she waited for the doors to open, so she could get on the elevator, someone snuck up behind her.
"Argh!!" Another familiar male voice yelled, pouncing on the paraplegic girl from behind.
"Touya-niisan! Don't do that! Your lucky I can't step on your feet anymore, or else I would." Michelle yelled at her older brother. Touya Kunikida rolled his eyes at his imuoto's antics.
"Where are you headed, brat?"
"I'm not a brat, and I'm headed to the library. Where you're supposed to be working." She said, rolling her eyes at her brother.
"So. . .where's your girlfriend?" She asked, a teasing lilt added to her voice.
"My girlfriend as you so blatantly put it, is at a magnum-omega-phi meeting. I don't know what she thinks is so great about sororities anyway. They're just a bunch of giggling morons, who act like they're still in highschool, and who have rich parents that have sheltered them all their lives." Touya muttered, clenching his fists.
"And this is coming from 'frat boy extrordinare' I really think you need help. Hypocrite." Michelle smirked, and laughed at the lame statement.
"Ha ha. By the way, have you seen Yukito??" Touya asked.
"Uh huh. I talked to him about an hour ago between classes. He was headed to his dorm to study for some exam." She answered. The bell rang, telling them that they were on the bottom floor.
"Ladies first, madamoiselle." Touya said, guesturing at the door.
"I guess chivalry isn't dead. But I was hoping that it'd be my prince in shining armour, not my older brother."
"Ok, sarcasmo. Whatever. What are you headed to the library for anyway kaiju?" Touya asked.
Michelle rolled her eyes at that comment and answered."Have you ever had Terada, for any of your classes?"
"Yeah. Mythology, and legends. . .oh you have to do a paper on the myth or legend he assigned you to do. So what's your topic?"
"The clow cards. And their creator. This oughta be interesting, seeing that nobody knows anything about this, or has ever heard of it."
"I know where there's a book back in the 'special collections' room in the back of the library. If you take it, I'm pretty sure no one will miss it. It's been back there for almost 60 years. I don't even think the Librarian knows about it. And I have a key." Touya suggested, grabbing the handles of his sisters wheelchair, and pushing her out the door.
"Wow. . .my brother actually has a brain. And has some kindness in his heart for his poor cripple sister." Michelle laughed. Touya hit the automatic open button for the library doors. And wheeled his sister in.
"I'll remember that." He answered.
He wheeled her to a room towards the back, and opened the door with a key card.
He went in and returned with a red book. He passed it to her and said."I don't know how much of a help this will be. No one's been able to open it yet. But it's worth a shot. I'll take you back up to my dorm. Besides, the guys will be happy to see you."
"Sure they will. . ." Michelle said, remembering the last encounter with the men in Touya's dorm.
"Really. They will. Ryan keeps asking me, Quote"When is your cute little sister going to come visit us again?"
Michelle blushed, and they walked out of the library, earning a wierd look from a black girl who sat at a table.
They traveled over to Touya's dormitory, which was settled in a different building, halfway across the campus. Michelle pillowed her head, with her arms, as she let her brother push her. She was wearing open fingered,leather biker gloves on hre hands.
"So, how long does this paper have to be?"
"About ten pages. It's only the beginning of the semester. I'm just scared about the rest of my course load. I have three other 20 page minimum reports due for my history classes. Why i'm even taking this mythology class is beyond me. It's a english class. I'm going for a history major."
"Ah. Well, if you need help, I'm sure that Yukito will lend a hand. He is a english major. And he did take that class, if I'm not mistaken."
"It's worth a shot. . . oh boy. . . here comes trouble." Michelle muttered, averting her gaze to the book in her lap.
"What's wrong?" Touya asked.
"That. Look up. And to your left. It's not hard to see."
He did, and saw Michelle's ex-boyfriend stroll up.
"What do you want, Colby?" Michelle asked, venom lacing her tone.
"Nothing, other than the fact, why are you with this loser when you could be with me?" was the cocky reply.
"Well this loser happens to be my big brother. And you have about. . .(looks at watch) Two seconds before he flattens your ass. Good bye." she said, as Touya socked the cocky guy in the jaw.
"Domo arigato, nii-san." She muttered.
"No problem." He replied, as they strolled the last hundred yards or so, to the dormitory. They walked inside, and were met with Yukito, who was also headed back upstairs.
"Hi guys!" He said, strolling over to the two Kunikida siblings.
"Hey Yuki. What are you doing?" Michelle asked, noticing the stack of books in his arms.
"Just came from the library."
"You can set some of those in my lap, you know. You look like your going to topple over any second." Michelle offered.
"Thanks, but I think I can handle it. It's a good thing our dorm, is on the first floor."
"So, what's with you two?"
"Just came back from the library ourselves. Had to sneak some ancient book, no one can open from 'special collections.'"
"Oh."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a couple hours of Idle chatting in thier room, Michelle finally looked at her watch and decided that she'd better get back to her dormitory, before Hilary came hunting for her. In a more or less literal sense.
About fifteen minutes later, she wheeled herself into her own room, to find a note pinned to the door.
Dear Michelle,
Me and Mikael went out for a bite to eat, and a few drinks. My sister invited us. We should be back around 10ish. We'll bring you back some Takoyaki or something. Umm, good luck on the paper.
Be back soon,
Hilary.
Michelle rolled her eyes at the note, picked it off the door and threw it in the trash after she closed and locked the door.
"Hilary, you are such a flake." She laughed turning on a light. The book she'd taken from special collections still sat in her lap.
"Well, I guess it's worth a try to open it." She muttered, reaching for the small set of keys on the side.
"I don't know what's so fantastic about this old thing anyway. It looks like a diary or something." She muttered, trying her luck with the first key. The small wing shaped lock opened with a small click. She opened the front cover, only to find that the book was made of wood, Hollow and contained a deck of face down cards, that suspiciously reminded the college freshman of tarot cards.
"Cards. This thing contains cards? Geez. Mr.Terada is a real nutcase. A Grade a Looney." She muttered, pulling the first card off the deck, and flipping it face up.
She traced her finger over the ornate design. And said the name of the card aloud.
"Windy. . ." She muttered.
That. Was. A. Big. Mistake.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile nearby. . . In Yukito and Touya's dorm room. . .
Yukito's head snapped up and toward Michelle's dorm.
Touya got the feeling that something wasn't as it should be.
"Umm, I'm going for a walk. I'll be back in a while Touya." Yukito said, making a hasty retreat for the door. He quickly disappeared out of the room,and down the hall.
"I didn't think that the cards would choose a new candidate this soon. Better go see what's going on." Yukito muttered, slipping behind a wall, where he was less likely to be noticed. Closing his eyes, He felt the spell taking place. He felt his wings appear, and wrap around his body, and His clothes being replaced by his customary robes. As the transformation ended, he shook his hair loose, and stretched his wings.
"It feels good to be myself again." He muttered, gazing up at the full moon that occupied the clear, star studded, october sky.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
A bright light filled the room as the card enacted. Michelle closed her eyes, and prayed that it was all some wierd-ass dream. No such luck. She clutched onto the card for dear life, and screamed loudly. Though her voice was lost in the noise of the wind. The cards in the book started to glow, and the wind picked them up and they scattered, then disappeared. The light, and the wind started to die down, but Michelle was about to get three new surprises.
She felt a blast of cold air, as her window was opened from the outside. She immediately grabbed for the baseball bat that was next to her bed. The reason for this, was thier dorm was on the third floor, and was only accessible by two ways. The fire escape, which was stationed three rooms away, or the normal way. The elevator or stairs.
"I'm having a dream...this is all some fucked up dream, or somebody's idea of a bad joke. Will someone please slap my ass and wake me up?" She muttered."Great. Jsust what I need. Someone trying to break in!"
Suddenly, the book in her lap began to glow, and a small form began to emerge. Since it was in her lap, she bit her lip and resisted the urge to downright start shrieking. First a small yellow head appeared, then a body, and then finally a tail. The thing instantly reminded her of a small winged stuffed animal.
It yawned.
It stretched.
Then it said."Hiya!"
Michelle just about fainted. Of course there's only so much a person can take at once. And this was nearing her limit.
'Ohmygodittalks. I'm losing it. Breathe, Michelle. Inhale. Exhale. Good nutcase.' she chided herself mentally.
"I'm losing my mind. That's got to be it."
"I'm afraid. . . your sight, and hearing, is just fine, Michelle." another voice, this time, deeper, and slightly more chilling to hear, said. Michelle wheeled her chair in a circle.
And screamed, when she saw the humanoid figure standing next to the window.
"YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" She screamed. Both figures covered thier ears. Michelle distinctly heard the human like, winged one mutter."Her legs may not work, but her lungs do."
Stopping to catch her breath, she looked at both figures. Something about the way the humanoid one held himself, striked the girl as very familiar.
"What in the name of all things holy, is going on here?"she moaned.
"Umm...that's what I'd really love to know. Where are the cards?" The stuffed animal asked. Looking down into the empty book in Michelle's lap.
"You mean. . . This?" Michelle asked, timidly holding up the windy card.
"Yes. That's one of them. Where are the rest?" The humanoid one asked.
"Uhm. . .I think. . . they disappeared." Michelle answered.
"Disappeared?" The stuffed animal inquired, inching closer to her face.
"You know. . . POOF, gone, sayonara, Adios, goodbye,not here. . . ¿Comprende?"
"The cards. . . escaped?" The stuffed animal asked.
"Very good. Were getting somewhere." Michelle sarcastically retorted. Her bravery, and cockiness returning by the minute.
"Well. . . It looks like we've found our next candidate, Cerberus." The humanoid one said.
"Whoa hold it. What in the hell are you talking about buddy?" Michelle yelled.
"Could you please keep your voice down! Some of us are trying to study on this side of the wall!" A voice yelled.
"Sorry Kayla!!" Michelle yelled back.
"Ok. Candidate for what, exactly?" Michelle asked.
"You know those cards that disappeared? Well, um those weren't normal cards."
The stuffed animal said.
"I got the impression." Michelle deadpanned.
"And since you were the one that activated them. You have to get them back."
He continued.
"And. . .what makes you think i'm going to do that?" Michelle asked.
"Because you don't have a choice. If you don't get them back, they'll destroy the world." The humanoid one filled in.
"Just how, do you suppose, I'm going to do that, exactly. I can't use my legs. They don't work. And I don't have the money to gallavant around the planet looking for these things." Michelle said, guesturing at the wheelchair she was strapped in.
"Why don't your legs work?" The stuffed animal asked.
"I'm paraplegic. My spinal cord was severed in a car accident when I was 16. A big piece of aluminum severed the nerves running to my legs. I'm paralyzed from the waist down. Make sense?"
"Yeah. It does. You still have to get those cards back, whether you want to or not." Cerberus said.
"Great. Why can't my life just get normal?"
"Because. It's never been normal. Do you believe in magic?" The human one asked. Sitting on her bed.
"Never had a reason to. Nothing good's ever happened to me or my brother. Other than the fact we both got to go to college." Michelle said flatly, reminicing on the past.
"Well, you should. Neither of you are as normal as you would like to think." He said.
"Well, um since I guess I have to get these cards back i might as well learn your names. Since you already seem to know mine." Michelle said.
"And make it quick. My roomie and her boyfriend will be back soon, and they'll flip if they see either of yo. . ."
"Michelle! I'm back!!" A familar voice yelled. Walking into the room. The yelp of surprise was imminent.
"Michelle!!! What is going on?"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out?! Don't ask me! Shut the frigging door, before someone else sees! And please tell me Mikael went back to his own dorm?" Michelle pleaded.
"Um. Yeah, he did. I got you some food too, but it's going to wait until i find out what is going on here, and who they are, what they are, and what in the hell they're doing in our dormitory!" Hilary said, shutting, and deadbolting the door.
"I want an explanation. I'm waiting." The green eyed, redhead said, impatiently tapping her foot on the carpeting.
"We'll explain everything." The humanoid one said, making his wings disappear into nothingness.
"Be prepared for a very Long story."
"It's friday. Were college students. We have no classes tommorow. We can handle it." Michelle said.
Hilary walked over to the small table where she'd set a box, and her purse.
"Pizza anyone?" She asked.
"You bought pizza? The note said takoyaki."
"I hit the pizza joint on the way home, because I figured you were doing some research."
"Oh. Pass me a slice. I'm starving." Michelle said.
"Start talking." Michelle said, as she waited for a piece of pizza, and turned her tape recorder on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three hours, three two litres of coke, and Two boxes of pizza later................They finally finished talking.
"I guess you weren't lying when you said it'd take a while." Hilary said, reaching for her notebook laptop, and typing in a code.
"What is that thing?" the humanoid one, who's name was Yue, asked.
"It's a laptop computer. I have a graphic design project due on Monday, for Professor Macintosh. It's on here." She replied, as he looked over her shoulder.
Suddenly someone knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Michelle asked.
"It's Naoko Yanagisawa! I got a report that there was some noise going on in here. Is there a problem Miss Kunikida?"
"Crap it's the "hall marm" Hide somewhere you two! She's got the extra key to the room!" Hilary hissed. Yue hid in the closet, effectively blending in with the white dresses on the rack. The stuffed animal, A.K.A. Kero, went rigid, and acted like a stuffed toy on Michelle's bed.
Naoko came in, and eyed Michelle, like she knew something was up.
"Just keep it down. I get another report and you'll be in trouble. Got it?"
"Yes, Ma'am." Michelle said.
"Good. Good night ladies." She said, exiting the room. Michelle shut the door behind her.
"And good riddance!" She added. After Naoko was long out of earshot.
Yue came out of hiding."That was close."
"No kidding."
"Now back to the topic, how in the heck am I going to catch these cards, if I can't walk, or run for that matter?" Michelle asked.
"I'm trying to figure that out." Kero said, closing his eyes in thought.
"I have an idea. But it'd be suspicious, if she suddenly started to be able to walk everywhere, and stuff if she's been paralyzed this long. Don't you think?" Yue said.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, but the doc's said, I have no hope to walk again. Or feel anything below my waist. As much as I would love to be able to play soccer, or volleyball again."
"It's possible. All I have to do is invoke a healing spell. It'll repair the damage done when you were in that accident." Yue said.
Michelle brightened."It would?"
"Hai, it would."
"Cool. But, wouldn't that be a bit suspicious if I just started to up and walk around? especially since everyone knows that I'm paraplegic?" Michelle asked.
"Yeah. It's been three years." Hilary added.
"True. Maybe, I have a different idea. When you use the cards on yourself, they effect whatever area of the body they're intended to. Paralyzed or not. So if you use a card like "The dash" You'd be able to run." Kero said.
"I like that idea better. It's less conspicuous." Hilary said.
"As much as I really hate to admit it. I agree." Michelle said. Looking at her watch.
"Crap. Hil, were supposed to meet Aisha at 8:30 about god what was it...that stupid
party over at Stifflers tommorow, and it's like 2:30 now!"
"I'm going to be pulling an all nighter just to finish my project before it's due. You can go to bed if you want." Hilary said.
"I must leave as well." Yue said, opening the window.
"Alright. See ya." Michelle said. Reaching for the pair of handled crutches she sat by her bed. Yue grabbed them for her.
"Thank you." She said, unhooking the seat belt on her chair, and pushing herself out with the crutches. Her legs fell limply as she moved herself to her bed.
"G'night." Hilary said, her lilting austrailian accent even more prominent than normal, as Yue slipped out the window.
"That was interesting." Hilary said, looking to her best friend.
"No kidding." Michelle said, falling back on her bed.
"Well. I need to get some sleep. Wake me up by six, so I can at least make it to the community showers before they get too crowded." Michelle said, turning the lamp next to her bed off, and falling into the land of slumber. Which was tonight, even more inviting than usual.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yue groaned as he thought about what he'd told Touya as he left. And what he was going to be facing the minute he walked back into the dorm. He quickly transformed back to the false form, everyone knew as Yukito Tsukishiro, and braced himself for the earful he was about to recieve from his roommate.
He walked in the door, to find Touya snoring peacefully on the couch.
"Guess he wasn't too worried." He muttered. Then his thoughts fell on his new charge.
'This isn't going to be easy for her when she's in a wheelchair. Most of these cards require speed to catch. And I feel The fly's presence nearby. This should prove to be interesting.' he thought , flopping on the rock like matress, that he called a bed. Sleep quickly claimed the moon guardian, and for that, he was thankful.

End chapter one.
So what did you think. Is it good, bad or craptastic. Please tell me?
