Title: Castle of the Moon
Timeline: During Final Judgment, Syaoran doesn't use Time, but Return…
Chapter 1

“Return!”
Syaoran wasn't sure why he drew the card he did, he knew he was going to use Time, but maybe the stress of the current events were getting to him… Yukito-san was actually the Final Judgment Maker, Yue!
And he froze, as Yue announced… “Return is under the control of the moon…”
No. No! He couldn't lose, he couldn't!
However everything went black after that…

Yue cursed as they vanished. How had the boy - oh, idiot, he'd used Return and sent them… somewhere.
However, Candidate for the cards or no, Syaoran, Yukito supplied, was still one of Clow's descendents… and he'd promised Clow his aid when they needed it… with a sigh, he picked up the unconscious boy - surprised, really, that he had enough energy to use Return… Return took more energy than Time, and even Clow would be drained for hours afterwards…
How old was he? Ten, eleven? Still such a child, but trained, he could feel the controlled magic in the boy, had seen the graceful movements…
This one was from the Li Clan, judging by the design on his clothing… he wore their ceremonial robes. Interesting.
Yes, this was *most* interesting…
Well, he would wait until Return wove off… just abandoning the child here would do no good… and they had to be together or else the card would just leave him here in the past.
It had to be the past, judging from the seven men galloping up on horseback. Yue narrowed his eyes. Was that… no! It couldn't be!

“You there! Release the lady!” Bors bellowed.
English, Yue realized, one of the languages Clow had insisted his guardians learn. “What business is it of yours? I see no lady.”
Tristan nodded. “Tis a boy, Bors.”
Yue sighed. Of all the problems he had to face… with a sigh, he waited for them to come nearer so he could hopefully explain the situation.
“Now what's a fair lady like you doing out here?” Lancelot asked curiously.
Yue blinked. They thought… they thought…
“Is he your son?” Galahad put in, upon seeing Syaoran in Yue's arms.
Oh for the love of…

Syaoran chose this time to stir… he felt oddly warm and contented… his brown eyes opened, and white met his vision…
What in the world?
Yue was… holding him?
Yue was speaking some foreign language… he couldn't understand a word of it… but it didn't matter….
Wait. Why were they - where were they, for that matter? His memories slowly began to sort out. Oh. He'd used Return…
They must be somewhere in the past then…
No wonder he couldn't understand! However, even if that were the case, this place was not Japan… and those men were all dressed in clumsy metal armor…
A pit settled into his stomach. Oh no…
They must be more lost than he thought….

“Yes, he's my son.” Yue said, inwardly cursing. Well, if they thought he was a woman, it was the only logical explanation…
At least his wings were hidden for now… Clow knew what they'd come up with if they saw those… but now what?
“Mm. it's not safe for a lady to be out here alone.” Arthur put out. “It's three day's ride to the fort…”
Yue frowned, but then he noticed Syaoran waking. “Clow's descendant?”
“Yue…. Where are we?”
“The British Isles, about a thousand years before our time at least…”
Syaoran swallowed. “I'm sorry…”
Yue shook his head. “Don't worry. I do not think they will harm us.”
They had switched to Mandarin, a language Syaoran was much more comfortable with. “What did you tell them?”
“That you were my son and that Clow Reed was your father.”
Syaoran coughed, as a blush suffused his cheeks, but he understood. They might separate the two otherwise… and then one would be stuck in the past when Return's timeline ran out…
“Is it safe?”
“I can protect you.”
“But…”
“No. Even though this is your folly, I swore to Clow that I would protect his descendants, and I shall…”
“Thank you… I'll try not to be too much trouble.” Syaoran whispered.

“Do you think she's lost?” Bors asked, as the woman fussed over her son.
“Could be. She does seem… well, I'd hesitate to say mad, however….”
“Perhaps he's an illegitimate child and she's fleeing her village for that reason?” Tristan suggested.
Arthur nodded. “That could be… or… what if she's a Sarmatian woman trying to protect her son from the draft?”
Lancelot frowned. “The boy does look quite young… not more than seven or eight, it seems…”
“Her clothes are quite odd,” Gawain put in. “Quite odd…”
“She reminds me of a Druid, however…”
“However?”
“I feel… that she can be trusted.”
“Perhaps. We'll see what happens…”
