Card Captor Sakura Fan Fiction ❯ Dark side of the moon ❯ chapter one ( Chapter 1 )
"What are you staring at?"
"I do not think that we should interfere. They look happy and he seems to have calmed since I have last seen him."
"You can not upset the flow of the stars you know. His destiny will reach him no matter what you want. He will fulfill the promise he made centuries ago."
"Yes, I know, however, he has found happiness like he has always wanted. How can I take that from him?"
"So you will just fade away and let him continue on with his path. You will slip away back into the shadows and let the ankoku consume you?"
"For his happiness I would gladly give up my existence."
--
"Hurry up Sakura you're going to be late!"
As soon as the words left his mouth a blur of blue and white sped past him and out the door shouting good-bye. Sakura raced down the street skating as fast as she could to make it to school on time.
She had to start waking up on time but no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't do it. She thought once that maybe she wasn't a morning person but threw the idea away because she wasn't a night person either.
She had made it to class just as the first bell rang.
"Sakura over here!"
"Morning Tomoya! How was your trip to America with your mom?"
"It was great I got a whole bunch of new designs and the people were so cool. The way they dressed and acted it was very interesting."
The two girls stopped talking when they heard a familiar voice outside the door.
"But Li! Please, if you don't say yes then Wei won't let me go!"
"Meiling I'm not going to say yes just so you can go to a concert. Besides don't' you have a test to study for this weekend?"
"So I'll study when I get home. We have a four day weekend you know."
"Meiling, Li! Good morning!"
The two stopped bickering and turned towards Sakura. Meiling said hi before grumbling at Li and sitting down adjacent to Sakura. Li just sat down behind her with out saying a word.
--
"Touya what are you going to do over the four day weekend?" asked Yukito
"Not sure. Probably work."
"Oh."
Touya glanced over at his friend and smiled before answering again.
"And hang out with you."
Yukito was going to respond when the sensei began to speak.
"Quiet please. I have an announcement to make. I would first like to say we have a new student joining us all the way from Hong Kong."
He turned to the door and motioned for them to enter. The class turned to see whom they would be getting. A young girl came in; she had coppery red hair that was pulled into a high ponytail her long bangs shielding her face. She was about average height slender build with curves to kill.
A couple of the boys in back whistled and called to her but she only bent her head down.
"I would like you to welcome Tasogare Rei."
The class mumbled the phrase welcome to Tokyo and a few other things. But Rei was not listening to them instead she was staring out the window seemingly off in a daze.
"Why don't you have a seat by Kinomoto Touya?"
Yukito wasn't sure what it was but he sensed something about her. Something familiar and unknown yet he was unsure what, it was hard to explain but even though he just `met' her he felt pulled to her. But then again he noticed so did every other guy in the room.
"Hi I'm Tsukishiro Yukito!"
Rei turned to see a young boy with light almost silver gray hair and glasses smiling up at her. She didn't respond instead she sat down or more like slouched down in her seat.
"Kinomoto Touya it's nice to meet you."
She didn't even glance his way instead she just looked at her desk. Touya raised an eyebrow and looked at Yukito. She was an odd one, if he had to say she seemed extremely shy but for some reason he didn't think that was the case.
Morning classes went by in hurry and soon the two found them at lunch. They were sitting under a large tree eating when they noticed the new girl walking by head still bent down.
Rei thought it better to stay away from everyone she didn't need a repeat of what happened in her old school. She was almost to the edge of the schoolyard when someone stopped in front of her.
"Hi I'm Akizuki Nakuru it's nice to meet you. Would you like to eat lunch with me and my friends?"
Rei shifted slightly not wanting to say anything maybe if she seemed cold and indifferent the girl would go away, that usually seemed to work. She wasn't in luck this time. The girl wasn't leaving, heaving a sigh she glanced up at the girl.
"Thank you but no."
`Nakuru was too distracted by the girls eyes to respond to what she was just told. She came out of her daze just as the girl was walking away from her.
"Let her go Nakuru obliviously we aren't good enough for her."
"Yeah besides she looks a little slow."
The other girls burst out laughing but Nakuru just stood there watching the retreating form of the new girl.
Rei was sitting on the wall covered in the shadows by the building eating her lunch. She stopped when she heard a noise and looked up to find the young girl from before, Nakuru, sitting next to her.
"Since you wouldn't eat with us I thought I would eat with you."
Rei sat there unable to say anything surprised someone would want to even talk to her let alone sit with her and be seen with her. The two ate their lunch Nakuru talking about everything and Rei just grunting a response every now and then.
"How about I show you around school and Tokyo?"
"…"
"Great I'll come get you after last class and we can go from there. See you later!"
"…"
Rei watched the energetic girl go back towards the others but she stayed in the shadows, she felt more comfortable there anyway.
--
Class had just ended and Sakura and the others were walking out when they suddenly knocked over.
"Hey watch it!" Meiling yelled
"Owe! Will you get off me!" Li growled hoping that who ever was on him would move.
When everyone was untangled and standing they saw who their attackers were.
"Sakura!"
" Nakuru!"
"Jeez what are you trying to do kill us!" Meiling yelled dusting off
"Gomen I was in a hurry. I wanted to show Rei around Tokyo and I guess I got a little carried away."
Rei wasn't paying attention to the conversation she was staring at the young amber-eyed boy. He seemed vaguely familiar to her but she wasn't sure.
"Gomen nasai. Are you all right?" Rei asked the young boy
"Yeah I'm fine." Li said
Rei seemed to perk up once she heard him speak. Nakuru and the others stopped talking when they heard someone laugh. They turned to see Li laughing and the new girl smiling.
"You speak Chinese?" Meiling asked
"Didn't I just say she came here from Hong Kong?"
"I wasn't paying attention to you chatter box."
"Whatever. This is Tasogare Rei and she comes from `Hong Kong'. Rei this is Li Meiling, Shaoran Li, Kinomoto Sakura and Daidouji Tomoya."
Rei bowed and said hello before standing back up and turning towards Nakuru.
"I should be going. It was nice to meet all of you."
"Wait you can't leave yet I haven't' shown you around Tokyo yet!"
"Ever think she didn't want to be seen with you?"
Nakuru whirled around glaring at Touya, and growled at him.
"Listen here, just because she wasn't falling over you in class don't get mad at me."
"Nani? You're so weird."
Yukito found himself once again staring at Rei. He still was unable to see her face but that didn't stop the feeling of knowing her from somewhere.
"Gomen nasai for being so rude to you earlier."
They stopped fighting and turned towards Rei. She was facing them her head up and looking at them. Yukito found he was unable to breath let alone speak. She had the most beautiful lavender eyes and the rosiest lips; her skin was a creamy white with a pink ting to it.
"It's fine you were probably just nervous." Said Touya
"Yes but that does not mean I had to be rude and not answer you. I apologize again." She said as she bowed slightly before straightening up again.
"Enough already, let's hurry up and go! I have so much to show you."
Before Rei could respond Nakuru grabbed her wrist and the two were off down the street.
"She is so weird." Touya said shaking his head.
--
Rei spent the entire day being dragged around Tokyo with Nakuru. She didn't really mind she was getting a view of the city and the `hot spots' as Nakuru called them. However Rei would always hang back in the shadows not wanting to be seen.
They were in a small dress shop, Nakuru was looking for an outfit to impress a certain guy with and she couldn't decide what to pick.
"The low cut tight black dress or the loose form fitting deep red spring dress? Hmm… which one would look better?"
"Who was this for again?"
"To-some guy from school."
Rei eyed her for a moment before she glanced at the dresses again.
"Neither."
"What? Why not?"
"How about this one?"
Nakuru turned to see Rei holding up a long traditional style Chinese dress, it was deep crimson with gold patterns on it.
" Ooo! I like that one much better!"
After they got Nakuru her dress she insisted that Rei get one too. After much protest Rei caved and got a dress.
They left and parted ways at the park. Rei glanced around noticing that the sun was almost setting she hurried home.
