DISCLAIMER: Once again, CCS and all of its characters don't belong to me. I'm only 14, I wouldn't be able to make them up, more importantly, DRAW them. So, don't sue...
Author Notes: It's been the longest since I've actually written anything...and I still need to finish quite the amount of fics. **Smiles** Well, this story's original name was going to be called Hatred, Love and Friendship but I had come to realize that the name needed to change. ^^ They're all about 16 except for Tomoyo and you'll understand why she's not 16 just yet. And since it's been so long, my writing might not be too sharp, but I hope it's still enjoyable.
Chapter 1 Undeniable
"Hm, it's been so long since I've been here Kaho," Eriol whispered as he took in a deep breath.
Kaho turned to him and smiled. "It has...I've missed it quite a bit too."
"Me too," Eriol replied.
Suddenly, Nakuru jumped onto Eriol, pulling him to the ground by the shoulders. "Eriol-sama!!! I'M SOOOO HAPPY YOU LET SUPPI-CHAN AND ME COME!!!"
"Don't you mean 'me and Suppi-chan'?" Eriol replied, his voice showing a slight anger.
Nakuru, realizing Eriol was getting serious, jumped to her feet immediately. "Ai, sorry Eriol-sama....it is me and Suppi-chan..." She turned away and frowned. "Man, talk about way too serious..." Nakuru whispered.
Eriol smiled, hearing his moon guardian's response. "Come on...we should get going."
~*~*~*~*~*Sakura and Syaoran~*~*~*~*~*
"Syao-kun...everything is so perfect," Sakura whispered as she snuggled closer to her boyfriend.
Syaoran blushed a crimson red. "Sakura-chan..."
Unnoticed in the bushes, Touya knelt quietly, spying on his little sister and the Chinese brat in which he still hasn't completely trust since he arrived. "Ooo....if he still wants to live, he had better not get any closer to Sakura..."
"Touya-kun, are we spying again?" came a friendly voice.
Touya looked up, falling backwards in surprise. "Yukito-kun!"
"Come on you! No more spying on your little sister. She's a big girl now and it's also her DATE!" Yukito proclaimed, grabbing hold of Touya's arm firmly, dragging him away as well.
"TOUYA-KUN?! YUKITO-KUN!" came a familiar voice of both their past.
Touya frowned immediately. "No....it can't be..." He looked up. Immediately, his face faulted. "AKIZUKI-SAN?!"
"Konnichiwa Akizuki-san," Yukito greeted happily. "What are you doing back in Japan?"
Nakuru ran up to them, glomping Touya instantly. "Well, Eriol-sama and Kaho-sama are here on a business vacation...or something like that. His boss let him pick a vacation area for both him and Kaho because they're gonna get married within the next six months."
"Married?" Yukito repeated.
Nakuru nodded, choking Touya to death. "Yep, they're finally gonna do it. It's been...who KNOWS how many years..."
"Where are they?" Yukito asked.
Nakuru pointed in the direction in which she had arrived.
"Konnichiwa Yukito-san," Eriol greeted, a smile on his face. "It's quite nice to see you once more."
Yukito nodded. "Yes, it is nice to see you once more. And Yue is as well."
"YOU?!" Touya shouted, looking up at Eriol. "What are YOU doing back here? It's horrifying enough that the dumb Chinese brat is still here...and now you?!"
Eriol's smile widened. "Konnichiwa Touya-san...I suppose you haven't forgotten me too."
Touya frowned, his face turning a deep reddish blue.
"Ne, you wouldn't by any chance know where they are would you?" Eriol asked.
Yukito pointed in the direction behind him. "Sakura-chan and Syaoran-san are just over there..."
Eriol thanked him quietly and left with Kaho by his side to the couple ahead.
Sakura's head lifted immediately and she ran to him. "Eriol-kun!! Oh my goodness! It's so nice to see you again! I've missed you so much!! Mizuki-sensei! I've missed you too!"
Syaoran frowned, grumbling something to himself.
"Konnichiwa Syaoran," Eriol stated happily, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.
Syaoran turned away quickly. "Don't talk to me Hiiragizawa. You haven't changed a bit since the last time I've seen your irritating self."
"Syaoran-kun!" Sakura declared. She turned back to Eriol. "Tomoyo-chan will be so happy to know you're back!"
Eriol's smile disappeared at once. "Where is Daidouji-san?"
"Well, she's taken an after school course to help her get into a top honors college. She's planning on majoring in Fashion Designing...or was it?" Sakura replied. "Oh well, I'm not sure, but she won't be back home until 10 p.m."
Kaho's eyes widened. "Ten?"
"Hai...I told her it was far too late in the day, but she said it was for the best. I don't get to see her much anymore too....it's kind of like she wants to avoid me by going to school, but she would never do that..." Sakura replied.
Eriol's smile returned. "Don't worry about it Sakura-chan. You are Daidouji-san's closest friend, she wouldn't ever want to avoid you."
"Arigato Eriol-kun," Sakura replied. "Oh yeah! This weekend, Syaoran-kun and I will be holding a party at his apartment...there's a surprise we're finally going to announce to everyone!"
Eriol's smiled widened. "Well, you can count on us. Kaho and I will be there for sure. We would never let you down. Besides, we have news of our own.
Kaho smiled in agreement.
~*~*~*~*~*Tomoyo Daidouji~*~*~*~*~*
Why is it that I do this every night? She stared down at the needle in her hand. It stitched by itself, slowly sewing another costume she'd have to place into eternal darkness in her closet due to the fact that Sakura wouldn't ever wear them. Why must I keep on making all of these outfits? Why can't I stop? I hate sewing. I don't ever want to sew again.
She looked up to her dresser. Immediately, tears began to fill her eyes.
Atop the dresser was a photograph of her with her most precious Sakura-chan before Syaoran had ever came to Japan and stole her sweet Sakura's heart from her very own grasp.
They were smiling happily in the park as their hands were wrapped around each other.
Not being able to take it anymore, she threw down her current project and slammed the photo down, cracking the framing at the moment of contact with the dresser. A stream of blood dripped down her hand as shards of glass pierced through her hand.
She will never be mine's...never... She stood up, tears streaming down her cheeks, not from the pain of the hand's wound, but from the wound of her broken heart. How could you just leave me Sakura-chan?
"Mistress? Are you all right? I heard a cracking noise..." came a voice from outside her door.
Tomoyo sighed, trying to keep her voice normal. "D...don't worry Asuka-chan, everything is all right." Her voice a bit more hoarse than normal.
Her bodyguard outside shook her head disapprovingly, knowing what must've happened. "Yes Mistress...your mother won't be returning until next month also..."
"Thank you Asuka," Tomoyo replied, not caring at all about her mother. She was never there for her anyway, so Tomoyo had given up all hope of her mother ever being there.
She walked over to the video room, beside her bathroom and picked up a video. More tears silently came to her eyes as she read "Sakura and Syaoran's Confession..."
She threw the video to the ground shattering it. "I won't pity myself..."
She walked out and slammed the door shut.
Suddenly, her cell phone rang. Knowing who it most likely would've been, she dreaded picking it up. As it rang for the fifth time, the voice message took its course.
"Daidouji-san, I know you're there," came the voice. "Wouldn't be best to just pick up the phone?"
Tomoyo rushed to the phone quickly and picked it up. "Hiiragizawa-kun?"
"Konnichiwa Daidouji-san...it's been a while," Eriol replied from the other line.
Tomoyo gasped, but frowned. "You've stopped contacting me 3 years ago...I don't see why I shouldn't hang up."
"You hurt me Daidouji-san," Eriol replied with his innocent voice. "I just wanted to let you know that I was back in Japan."
"You are? Where are you?" Tomoyo replied, a weak smile appearing on her face.
"Look outside," Eriol replied.
Tomoyo walked over to her window and jumped back in surprise. After her heartbeat returned to normal, she walked over to the window and opened it. "HIIRAGIZAWA-KUN! Don't do that! Do you want to scare me to death?!"
"Aw....I'm sorry Daidouji-san," Eriol stated with a puppy face.
Tomoyo frowned. "What do you want? What are you doing back in Japan so suddenly?"
Eriol sat on a branch just a few inches from the windowsill. "Is it wrong to take a vacation in Japan? Besides, I've brought Kaho, Nakuru and Spinel-sun with me."
"Mizuki-sensei? Where is she?" Tomoyo inquired at the instant she heard her teacher's name.
Eriol smiled. "The manor of course..."
Just as Tomoyo was about to request to see Kaho, Eriol interrupted her.
"Daidouji-san, why are you doing this?" he asked, his childish expressions disappearing completely.
Tomoyo looked up at him, not wanting to reply. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Why are you avoiding Sakura-chan? Don't you know how much she worries about you?" Eriol continued.
Tomoyo looked away. "She wouldn't care if I had dropped dead and died right here and now."
"You wouldn't ever know would you Daidouji-san? Answer me...why are you doing this?" Eriol replied.
Tomoyo turned to him, her eyes brimmed to the tips with tears. "You wouldn't ever be able to understand!" With that, she slammed the window shut and pulled the curtains closed.
Tomoyo threw herself onto her bed, not wanting to ever see anything or anyone ever again.
Outside, Eriol sighed. I suppose I could've been more indirect...
"It doesn't matter how you say it Eriol. If she doesn't want to talk about it, she won't," Kaho whispered, appearing beside him.
Eriol nodded. "Yes, you're right Kaho...let us go for now then...and leave her to herself."
Eriol hopped down from the tree, followed by his fiancee and slowly walked back to their home.
Inside, Tomoyo's tears were endless. No matter how much she tried not to cry, it continued. She hated this feeling. This feeling of weakness, the feeling of need, the feeling of needing understanding. She hated everything at the moment.
Why? Why can't I live a life all by myself? With no one to care about? No one who will bother me? Why must I always feel this way?
Tomoyo's head screamed out in pain as she felt her already broken heart rip into yet more pieces.
"Mistress, your dinner is ready," came Asuka once more.
Tomoyo continued to sob quietly, her head buried deep into her pillows and blanket. "I'm not hungry."
"But..." Asuka continued.
Tomoyo lifted her head, not being able to control her anger anymore. "I said, "I'M NOT HUNGRY!!" Leave me alone!?!"
Asuka jumped back from the door, shocked. "Y...y..yes Mistress, of course."
Tomoyo gazed at her door silently. Slowly, she crept up to her dresser and pulled out a jewelry box. Opening it, she gradually pulled out a small, sharp, metallic blade. She gripped it in her hand tightly, her eyes shut firmly as well. Blood dripped from her hand as the blade pierced through her hand slightly.
What should I do? Sakura-chan...
She turned back to the closed window, her vision blurry from both her tears and from shutting her eyes too tight.
What should I do?
Suddenly, her cell phone rang, cutting through her thoughts.
"Moshi? Moshi?"
"Tomoyo-san? Is that you?"
"Hai, this is Tomoyo."
"Oi! It's been so long!"
Tomoyo frowned, not knowing who the heck was on the phone with her.
"What's with the silence? It's Meiling!"
"Meiling-chan?!" Tomoyo replied, a smile creeping onto her face weakly.
"Hai! Hai! Ne, have you heard of Sakura-chan and Syaoran's engagement?"
Tomoyo fell silent immediately.
"I thought so. Anyway, when I heard about it, you were the first person I decided to call. I heard that..." Meiling's voice softened. "You love Sakura-chan."
Tomoyo's silence continued.
"And I was hoping you wouldn't mind me coming to visit you. You know...to kind of get your mind off of everything," Meiling suggested. "Would you mind?"
Tomoyo's smile returned, but weaker than before. "Of course not. When will you be coming?"
"Tomorrow," Meiling replied. "Syaoran's mother is coming also."
"You two could stay here at the Daidouji Manor then," Tomoyo replied.
Really?"
"Hai, why wouldn't you be able to?"
"Arigato Tomoyo-san!! I can't wait till tomorrow!" Meiling chirped from the receiver.
"What time will you be reaching Japan? I'll pick you up," Tomoyo offered.
"It's okay Tomoyo-san. We've got that under control already! Just be home tomorrow 'cause I wanna start having fun right away!" Meiling replied.
"Hai! Hai!"
"I'm glad you seem all right. I've got to go pack now. Jaa ne Tomoyo-san!"
"Jaa."
Tomoyo clicked the phone off and stared back at the blade in her hand. I guess I won't do it today. She placed the bloody blade on top of her dresser and opened her door, walking out.
After reaching the main floor, she turned to one of her maids, placing her blood covered hand behind her back. "Prepare two rooms. We'll have two guests tomorrow and they'll stay with us for a while also."
"Yes Mistress," she replied, bowing and walking to the two rooms that was yet to be prepared.
Tomoyo walked into the dining room, where Asuka was clearing off the table. Tomoyo's expression saddened. "Asuka-chan, gomenasai. I didn't mean to shout at you like that."
"It's fine Mistress. Would you like your dinner now?" Asuka replied with a bright smile.
Tomoyo shook her head. "I'll be fine. Enjoy your meal though."
"Thank you."
Tomoyo nodded and walked to the front door. She grabbed her jacket and placed her bloody hand in the jacket's pocket. She opened the door in one quick swoosh and walked out.
She had known of Syaoran and Sakura's engagement party for the past month already. She had helped Sakura plan it. Of course, if Sakura was to have done it all by herself, nothing would've been done since she was never able to decide on anything.
As Tomoyo continued down the sidewalk, she felt her hand bleeding once more. She seriously didn't care about where she was going, as long as she'd be alone, with the beauty of nature as her only company.
"Tomoyo-chan..."
Tomoyo looked up immediately, feeling her heart skip a beat in fear. "S..Sakura-chan?"
Man, what is she doing here? Does she not realize that I don't want to see her?! She was about to turn towards a different direction and walk off, but Syaoran took a hold of her free hand., making her heart skip a beat again.
"Tomoyo-san, gomenasai. You've helped me through so much...and even more, you gave to me the one person you cared for most...freely," Syaoran whispered. "I thank you from the bottom of my heart and pray that one day, you'll find your happiness as well." He stepped back towards his girlfriend. Letting go of Tomoyo's hand, a thankful smile began to spread across his face. "I thank you once more Tomoyo-san." He bowed lightly and with one swoop of Sakura's hand, was off, leaving Tomoyo to herself once more.
"Li-kun you baka. Do you not know that the only reason in which I have given her to you so freely was because she was eternally happy with you?" Tomoyo whispered silently to herself. "And only with you did she feel this way..."
She shut her eyes, not wanting the tears to come and continued down the side walk to King Penguin Park.
She settled herself down, next to a pond. The water lilies and sakura blossoms floated across it gracefully. To make the scenery more complete, wildflowers grew all around it, leaving only a bit of space, enough for two people to site together. Sakura-chan, I hate you. You never once stopped to think of what I felt for you...have you? Tomoyo frowned, balling up both of her hands into fists. "Never once..." she whispered.
"The water lilies," came a voice from beside Tomoyo. "They're beautiful!"
Tomoyo turned around instantly. "Akizuki-san!" She jumped to her feet and hugged the tall feminine moon guardian.
"It's a pleasure to see you again Daidouji-san," Nakuru replied with a smile. "It's not everyday you get to see the next World's Most Famous Fashion Designer!"
Tomoyo smiled graciously. "Arigato Akizuki-san, but I don't want to become a fashion designer. Not anymore at least."
"Nani?! But I've always loved your designs!" Nakuru protested. She leaned over to Tomoyo's ear and placed a hand over it, as though not wanting anyone else to hear. "A lot more than Eriol-sama's too!"
Tomoyo giggled helplessly as Nakuru pulled away. And without realizing it, she pulled out the blood-covered hand.
"Daidouji-san!" Nakuru shrilled, spotting the wound. "What happened?!"
Tomoyo recoiled her hand. "It's nothing. Just a little cut."
"Nakuru?!" shouted Eriol worriedly as his head popped up from the flowers nearby. "What's...." But before he finished his sentence, he saw Tomoyo. "Uh...Konnichiwa Daidouji-san..."
Tomoyo nodded lightly. "Konnichiwa..."
"Eriol-sama! Daidouji-san's hand has a big nasty cut! And it's still bleeding!" Nakuru shouted as he pulled Eriol's collar and dragging him a bit. "Do something before she dies of blood loss!"
Eriol pulled himself loose from Nakuru's deadly grip and turned towards Tomoyo.
"It's nothing really. I'll be fine," Tomoyo whispered, stuffing her hand even deeper into her pocket.
Eriol smiled warmly, making Tomoyo tense up. "It's all right Daidouji-san. Just let me see it." He reached over to her arm and pulled it out. "This won't be too hard to fix." He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and dipped it into the pond. "This pond holds a very interesting tale." Eriol looked up at Tomoyo and smiled. "It's called 'Pond of Happiness' because it is said that whom ever uses the water of the pond will one day be eternally happy, no matter what." After he had said that, he was already done washing the blood out.
Tomoyo stared up at him, her eyes filled up to the brim with tears. "Hiiragizawa-kun..."
"Hm...let's put some medicine on it now and wrap it afterwards," Eriol stated as he pulled out some sort of creamed medicine from his coat pocket and squeezed a rather large amount onto her hand. And soon after he placed the medicine back in his pocket, he pulled out some bandage. "It's very handy to carry a first aid kit around....except that I keep mines in separate pockets." Eriol smiled as he finished wrapping it. "There...it should be all better by tomorrow."
Nakuru smiled happily. "Yay! Go Eriol-sama!" She turned around. "Well, it's about time for me to give Suppi-chan his snacks. Gotta go! Jaa Daidouji-san!"
"Jaa," Tomoyo replied. After Nakuru had left, Tomoyo looked back down to her hand and then up to Eriol. "A...arigato Hiiragizawa-kun."
Eriol stood up abruptly. "That's what friends are for Daidouji-san. I suppose I'll see you sometime soon..." With that, he walked back towards his two guardians and fiancé.
Tomoyo turned back towards the pond. "The Pond of Happiness...." Happiness...is that something I am meant to ever feel?
~*~*~*~*~*Tomorrow~*~*~*~*~*
Tomoyo woke up earlier than usual that morning. It was about 4:30 am and her alarm clock hasn't even gone off yet. She rolled out of bed and practically walked to the bathroom with her eyes closed. Before washing her hands, she realized she still had the bandage from yesterday on. "Hiiragizawa-kun..."
She smiled faintly, but it was actually a real smile. Today seems like it's going to be a wonderful day...something I haven't felt in so long. She unwrapped her wound and quickly began to wash up.
By the time she had reached the bottom of the steps, it was 5 am. She turned and entered the living room.
"Ohayo Daidouji-san!" Meiling shouted running to her. She threw her arms around Tomoyo tightly. "How have you been?"
Tomoyo smiled once more. "Ohayo Meiling-san. It's nice to see you again! I've been fine. What about you? How's your life been?"
"Heh...life has never been more boring since I returned to Hong Kong! With all of the action going on in Tomoeda, I wanted to come back so much!" Meiling replied ecstatically.
Tomoyo turned her head and gazed into the eyes of the graceful Yelan Li. "Ohayo Li-sama. I'm glad you were able to make it too."
"Thank you Daidouji," Yelan replied with a smile. "There is no need for you to call me
-sama."
Tomoyo smiled back. "Well, when we had come to Hong Kong all of those years ago, you provided us with shelter as well Li-san. I just wanted to thank you. And if you're tired, Asuka will show you to your room."
"Thank you," Yelan replied before getting up to follow Asuka to her room.
"Ne, Daidouji-san, is anything open at this time of the day?" Meiling inquired.
Tomoyo giggled. "I highly doubt that Meiling-san."
"Well then, let's just do to the park! Let's just spend this whole day out of this house," Meiling proclaimed.
Tomoyo giggled once more. "Hai! Hai!"
Meiling took hold of Tomoyo's hand and marched out of the house towards the park. "To the park we go!"
After they reached the park, Meiling dropped Tomoyo's hand and ran happily to the swing set. "Oh! I haven't been on one for so long!"
"Well, aren't we a bit too old for the swing?" Tomoyo questioned as she walked up to Meiling.
Meiling turned to face her sharply. "Nani?! Too old?! We're never too old to play! NEVER!" She swung herself with one quick step back. "Yay! You can't ever have more fun than this!"
"I suppose," Tomoyo replied taking the swing next to Meiling.
As the two teenaged girls chattered amongst themselves, time flew by like the wind and it was already 8 o'clock.
"Eriol-sama!" shouted Nakuru from the park entrance as she was seen pulling on someone's arm.
Tomoyo and Meiling turned towards the voice instantly.
"Who's that?" Meiling inquired curiously.
"Na...ku....ru! Let go, will you?!" Eriol ordered indirectly, trying to pull his arm free.
"Come on Eriol-sama! You promised to come to the park with me, Kaho-sama and Suppi-chan today!" Nakuru replied pulling even harder.
"Nakuru-chan, I'm quite sure Eriol can manage on his own. You needn't pull him like that," Kaho stated as she entered the park.
"Mizuki-sensei?!" Meiling shouted, getting the three's attention.
Nakuru dropped Eriol's arm immediately and ran towards Tomoyo, just about ready to give her the deadly hug.
"Ohayo Meiling-san. How have you been?" Kaho replied to the black haired female.
A smile spread across Meiling's face. "Fine! What about you sensei?"
Kaho nodded in reply as Eriol finally came to her side. Meiling stared at Eriol cluelessly.
"Ah, konnichiwa Li Meiling. I'm Hiiragizawa Eriol. You can just call me Eriol though," Eriol greeted happily.
Meiling's mouth dropped open in surprise. "You mean...you're the Eriol Hiiragizawa...?! The reincarnation of Clow Read himself?! The one who caused all of the trouble after all of the Clow Cards were captured?"
"Hai! Hai! I suppose Syaoran has said quite an amount of things about me," Eriol smiled proudly.
Meiling shook her head. "No, not really...he's only mentioned you once. Of course it was right after he returned to Hong Kong. He told us all about it...about how you almost killed everyone."
"Eh? Just once? Oh well, at least he even mentioned my name," Eriol replied gleefully.
Meiling sighed. "Ugh....but you're nothing like I had imagined. As a great sorcerer, I had imaged you tall, maybe muscular and kind of evil-looking....not all nerdy like you really do."
Tomoyo, Kaho and Nakuru bursted out laughing helplessly.
"I...I'm not nerdy..." Eriol whispered in a saddened tone. His facial expression slowly turned to hurt as the girls continued to laugh.
Nakuru placed a hand on his shoulder and as she placed the other on her stomach to stop herself from shaking so much. And slowly, tears began to drop down her face as she almost fell to the ground from laughing too much. "Oh E-Eriol-sama!" And without finishing her sentence, Nakuru fell over to the ground laughing and grasping for air.
Kaho and Meiling had stopped laughing a bit before this and had already left to a nearby picnic table. Tomoyo turned to Eriol, who was staring angrily at Nakuru, still on the floor.
"Hiiragizawa-kun...about yesterday..." Tomoyo began. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the freshly washed bandage. "I'm sorry about yelling at you...and thank you."
Eriol smiled comfortingly as he took the bandage from her. "It's all right Daidouji-san. O would've probably done the same thing in your shoes."
Suddenly, Nakuru jumped to her feet. "Tomoyo-san! Come on! Let's go swing!" She grabbed Tomoyo's hand and dragged her to the swings about 2 feet away. "Eriol-sama! You had best get out of the way before I hit you!"
"Hai!" Eriol replied, taking the swing next to Tomoyo. "I haven't been on a swing for years!"
~*~*~*~*~*4 Hours Later~*~*~*~*~*
"Ne, Mizuki-sensei and I are going shopping. You three wanna come with us?" Meiling asked as she and Kaho finally walked up to the three who were now kicking a soccer ball to each other.
Nakuru's head jerked up instantly. "Shopping?! Oo! Me! Me! I wanna go!" Nakuru jumped up and down as she ran to Meiling and Kaho.
"Tomoyo-san?" Meiling questioned.
Tomoyo shook her head. "It's all right. I want to stay here a bit longer."
"Well then, Eriol why don't you stay with Tomoyo-san?" Kaho insisted.
Eriol nodded with a soft smile. "Of course."
"It's okay," Tomoyo began as a protest.
"Well, let's go!" Nakuru shouted as the three waved good-bye and left before Tomoyo was able to finish.
Tomoyo turned to face the male behind her. "So, when's your wedding? February I suppose...?"
"Yeah...and I suppose you can still read me inside and out Daidouji-san," Eriol replied as his smile widened. "You're birthday is this Sunday...what are you going to do?"
Tomoyo shifted her gaze to the ground. "Nothing in particular..."
"That's a shame," Eriol replied with a softer smile. "You deserve to have fun."
Tomoyo looked up at him once more. "You think so?"
"Oh, I know so!" Eriol replied cheerfully. "You wanna go for a cup of tea?"
Tomoyo raised a brow curiously. "Tea?"
"Well sure....unless if you don't like tea," Eriol replied with a curious gaze.
Tomoyo smiled. "Sure..."
"Eh?" Eriol replied staring at her in confusion. "Sure what?"
Tomoyo giggled quietly. "You're the sorcerer here...you tell me..."
"Fine," Eriol replied with a broad smile. "It'll be my treat!"
~*~*~*~*~*Meiling, Kaho and Nakuru~*~*~*~*~*
"Wow! Look at how cute this is!" Nakuru shrilled, pulling out a light violet, full length dress. "It's so cute! It would match Tomoyo-san perfectly!"
As she turned the dress, the pastel purple bow from the back fluttered into view. It's ribbons were almost as long as the dress itself.
"It's gorgeous!" Meiling replied, her eyes glued to the dress.
The dress was a spaghetti strap dress with a partially violet transparent shawl as an accessory.
"Actually, it looks like something Tomoyo-san would actually design herself...just that this dress is a bit more simple," Meiling added.
Nakuru nodded in agreement. "Yeah...now that I think about it, it does."
"Nakuru-chan! Meiling-san," Kaho called from just a bit away. "Look at this!"
She pointed down to a golden necklace with a pendant. But what was on the pendant made all of the difference. There were two plum blossoms with an angel beside each one and the word "Believe" written across the front in script.
Nakuru's eyes lit up immediately. "Kawaii! Mister cashier person! I'd like to buy that necklace right there!"
"Ah, that's a lovely one isn't it? And would you believe that the company only made one," the cashier stated as he pulled it out with it's box. "It's one of a kind...and I'm glad it was in this store."
~*~*~*~*~*6 Hours Later~*~*~*~*~*
"Arigato Hiiragizawa-kun," Tomoyo whispered as they reached the Daidouji Manor gates.
After they had spent an hour in the tea house, they spent the rest of the day at the beach and amusement park.
Eriol breathed heavily. "It's nothing. Maybe we can ride them again tomorrow."
"Hai," Tomoyo replied, remembering that tomorrow was also the day of Sakura and Syaoran's engagement announcement. "Jaa Hiiragizawa-kun."
"Jaa Daidouji-san," Eriol replied as he turned to walk himself home. Tomorrow? That's....! Just remembering that tomorrow was Saturday, he turned around to only find Tomoyo already inside the manor. "I hope I didn't offend her..."
~*~*~*~*~*Tomorrow~*~*~*~*~*
RING! RING!
Tomoyo looked up from her book as she heard her cell phone ringing. "It's probably just Sakura-chan..." She picked up the phone and plastered a smile onto her face. "Moshi? Moshi?"
"Tomoyo-chan? Ah, ohayo! Um...I know I said I didn't want you to help with the preparations but..." Sakura began.
Tomoyo's smile faded, but she kept her voice stable. "It's all right Sakura-chan. I'll come over right now. But first, I suppose I'll stop by the bakery..."
"Arigato Tomoyo-chan! But how did you know it was the bakery goods?" Sakura asked curiously.
Tomoyo looked down to her watch, which read 9:30 am. "Well, you were never able to choose anything for bakery goods. You've always liked them all... But that doesn't really matter does it? I'll be there within a 30 minutes."
"Kay! Jaa ne! I'll be waiting," Sakura replied joyously.
Tomoyo sighed. "Jaa."
After hanging up her phone, Tomoyo dawdled to her jacket. Her real problem is that she can't decide whether to get a chocolate cake or double fudge ice cream...since chocolate is Li-kun's favorite flavor...
~*~*~*~*~*Hiiragizawa Manor~*~*~*~*~*
"Eriol-sama!" Nakuru shouted as she slid down the side of the stairs.
The study room opened as Eriol's head popped out. "What is it Nakuru? Is something wrong?"
"Come on! I don't want to be late for the surprise! I really want to know what's gonna happen!" Nakuru replied impatiently.
Eriol smiled. "The party begins at noon Nakuru. It's only 9:35 am right now."
"Please! Please! Please! If we don't go right now, I'm going to bug you until we do go!" Nakuru proclaimed even more impatiently.
Eriol heaved a sigh. "All right, well go, but you have to go get Kaho and Spinel-sun."
"Yay! Kaho-sama! Suppi-chan!" Nakuru shouted as she ran back up the stairs. "Come on! We're leaving right now!"
Eriol smiled as he turned back into the study room to look at his almost finished wooden sculpture. Oh well...I suppose I can finish it afterwards...
~*~*~*~*~*Sakura and Syaoran~*~*~*~*~*
"I can't believe it Syaoran-kun! I'm so nervous!" Sakura exclaimed as she tied the pink and green balloons onto the edge of the tables.
Syaoran smiled at her. "It'll all go nicely Sakura-chan. Don't worry about it."
"I know...but I'm afraid of Tomoyo-chan's reaction..." Sakura said in a lower tone.
Syaoran looked down, understanding what Sakura meant. "Tomoyo-san will..."
"I will what?" Tomoyo interrupted as she walked through the open gate. "Sugoi! You two did all of this by yourselves?!"
Sakura and Syaoran jumped.
"Tomoyo-chan! I thought you weren't going to be here for a few more minutes?" Sakura stated, bewildered.
Tomoyo plastered another fake smile on her face. "I was going to return home to get Meiling-san and Li-san, but it seems Li-san is out and Meiling-san is still resting from her long shopping trip yesterday."
"Tomoyo-san! You're here early too?!"
Tomoyo turned around to find Nakuru running at her. "Nakuru-san?"
"Oo...is that sweets I smell?" Nakuru questioned as she stopped a few steps in front of Tomoyo.
Tomoyo smiled as she walked to the table and pulled out the double layered cake and 4 gallons of cookies-n-cream ice cream. "Gomenasai Nakuru-san, but you can't eat these just yet."
"Thanks," Syaoran whispered as he took hold of all four gallons of ice cream to put them in the freezer inside.
Nakuru pouted as Eriol and Kaho walked up to her.
"Ohayo Eriol-kun! Mizuki-sensei! Nakuru-san!" Sakura greeted blissfully.
"Ohayo," all three replied together.
After a few more hours of decorating, everything was finally complete and everyone had arrived.
"Arigato minna for coming on such short notice," Sakura began. "But Syaoran-kun and I have finally decided and agreed to this."
Instantly, Tomoyo felt her heart break and the tears at the edge of her eyes. Don't cry Tomoyo! You've already practiced this last night! Don't be weak!
"But before I say why we're throwing this party, I want to give credit to Tomoyo-chan, Eriol-kun, Mizuki-sensei, Nakuru-san, Oniichan and Yukito-kun, for helping with the preparations. Oh yeah...Otousan too of course, for letting us do this in the backyard," Sakura added. "And another thing before I say my announcement, Eriol-kun and Mizuki-sensei has some news of their own. "Sakura took her seat quietly as she signaled for Eriol and Kaho to make their announcement.
Eriol stood up with Kaho at his side. "Well, uh, we were hoping to go after Sakura-chan and Syaoran, but I suppose now is as good as ever..."
Touya sneered already irritated of Eriol. Yukito on the other hand smiled blissfully as Chiharu stopped Takeshi before he was even able to begin whispering a lie to Naoko.
"Eriol and I would just like to say that we have finally decided that our wedding would be on the 12th of February next year," Kaho stated happily.
The small crowd cheered for the loving couple. Sakura stood up soon after the crowd died down and elbowed Syaoran to stand up with her. "Well uh...I suppose it's our turn Syaoran-kun..."
Syaoran nodded stiffly as his cheeks turned a crimson red. "Hai."
"Tell them," Sakura whispered to Syaoran with a nudge in the side.
Syaoran gulped in both fear and nervousness. "Sakura-chan and I...we're uh...we're engaged."
The crowd roared happily. Tomoyo, who was next to Nakuru felt the sting in her eyes as her tears threatened to come even more.
"Didn't I say they were meant to be?" Rika whispered to Terada-sensei as her wedding ring flashed in the sun's rays.
Terada-sensei smiled. "And I never doubted you once Rika."
The two had recently married just last year, about a month after Rika's 15th birthday.
A few minutes after the two announcements, everyone had gathered around Sakura and Syaoran with intentions to congratulate them. All except for Touya of course, who was trying to get through the crowd to bash Syaoran's head to the ground.
"Come on Touya. Stop it already..." Yukito commented from behind him.
"I don't think so!" Nakuru shouted as she jumped on him, making him fall to the ground immediately.
Tomoyo gritted her teeth. Not wanting to see the two so happy together, she turned around and walked off, out of the Kinomoto residence.
From the corner of Sakura's eyes, she saw her best friend leave. But no matter how much she wanted to go after her, she couldn't.
"Eriol," Kaho stated nudging him to go after Tomoyo.
Eriol nodded and placed his cup of juice on the table before following Tomoyo.
~*~*~*~*~*King Penguin Park~*~*~*~*~*
I can't believe I'm this weak. How could I have almost let the tears come right in front of Sakura-chan?! Why am I so pathetic? Tomoyo sat down on a benching facing a bed of wild flowers. Tears streamed down her pale cheeks as she stared at the sakura blossoms drifting towards the ground.
"Is this seat taken?"
Tomoyo looked up instantly. "Hiiragizawa-kun?" Quickly, she dried her tears and shook her head. "No...its' not."
"Daidouji-san, would you like to talk about it?" Eriol whispered as he took a seat next to her.
Tomoyo tightened her grip on the bench. "Talk about what?"
"You know what I mean," Eriol replied, staring towards the flowers. "You won't even feel any better until you talk about it to someone."
Tomoyo frowned as the tears started to come once more. "I don't know what you're talking about Hiiragizawa-kun. I feel fine."
"Stop lying to yourself! And stop trying to lie to me! Sakura-chan knows and she's worried about you! You think she wants to see you hurt like..." Eriol said, raising his voice a little.
Tomoyo turned to him, tears streaming down her face once more. "What does Sakura-chan care?! She left me!"
"Daidouji-san! She's your best friend," Eriol stated, his voice calming once more.
Tomoyo frowned. "We were best friends."
"And you still are! Sakura-chan may be engaged to Syaoran, but that doesn't mean you two can't be friends," Eriol stated, staring at her worriedly.
Tomoyo turned away. "Don't tale to me. I don't want to listen to someone who has no clue of what I'm going through."
"Daidouji-san," Eriol began once more.
Tomoyo's grip tightened even more. "Leave me alone!"
"Just listen to what I have to say Daidouji-san!" Eriol almost shouted, running out of patience.
Tomoyo stood up angrily. "Why should I? You don't even know what I'm going through! You've barely been in my life! And I've changed Hiiragizawa! You can't come back after so many years and know what life has been like for me!"
"I am willing to listen."
"I don't want to tell you anything! You've never been anything to me and you'll never be anything!"
Eriol stopped, shocked yet smiling. "All right Daidouji-san. You're so right. You don't have to tell me anything. And I'm sorry for trying to help you." He stood up, picking up his jacket too. "I will no longer be an obstacle for you for the remainder of my time here. I wish you the best. Sayonara." He turned his back to her, not hesitating for a moment.
Tomoyo sighed and walked away, in the opposite direction of Eriol. I hate him. He always thinking that he knows everything...but he doesn't have a clue. I'm not who I was and he can't seem to realize that. I hate him...
~*~*~*~*~*Sakura and Syaoran~*~*~*~*~*
"Syaoran-kun, I'm worried. I was afraid of this. I only wish there was something I could do for her," Sakura whispered, taking a seat by her new fiancé.
Syaoran hugged her tightly. "Don't worry Sakura-chan. Everything will be all right...I promise."
"I hope so..." Sakura replied quietly as her eyes began to tear up.
Kaho smiled at the couple warmly. "You needn't worry Sakura-san. If anyone can help Tomoyo-san, it's Eriol. He's so compassionate and understanding. And Tomoyo-san is a very strong lady. She can pull herself out of just about anything."
Sakura's gaze moved up to her old teacher, a faint smile appeared upon her face. "Arigato Mizuki-sensei."
"Eriol-sama is coming minna!" Nakuru stated running to the backyard, where the remaining people were.
Kaho made a quick movement and passed by Meiling to Eriol's side as he entered. "Eriol?"
Eriol looked up at her, his eyes rather emotionless. "Gomenasai Sakura-chan, Syaoran... I really must be getting home. I congratulate the two of you on your engagement and wish you both eternal happiness." He immediately turned around and walked back out.
"Eriol-sama..." Nakuru whispered worriedly.
~*~*~*~*~*Eriol~*~*~*~*~*
Walking up the steps to his house, Eriol pulled his key out slowly as his mind drifted elsewhere.
"Hiiragizawa-kun, why are you always trying to help me?" Tomoyo asked curiously as they walked down the path of the amusement park.
Eriol turned to her, a questioning look on his face. "What do you mean 'why'? We're friends...isn't that reason enough?"
"We're friends?" Tomoyo repeated questionably as she stared at the ice cream in her hand.
Eriol nodded, since his mouth was on his ice cream. "Yeah....unless if you don't want to."
"I'll think about it," Tomoyo replied.
Eriol smiled. "Daidouji-san, if I were to be just like Sakura-chan, but look like myself, would you be able to love me the way you love her?"
Tomoyo turned to him, startled by the question.
Silence.
Eriol's smile softened. "If you're uncomfortable..."
"I don't think I would," Tomoyo replied, interrupting his sentence.
Eriol nodded. "I see....could you tell me why you love her?"
Tomoyo's gaze shifted back to her ice cream.
Silence.
The continued down the path, towards the little kids' rides.
"I don't know..." Tomoyo replied suddenly. "I don't know why..."
Eriol looked down to his watch. "We should be going soon."
"Yeah," Tomoyo replied, nodding her head a bit.
Eriol turned to her, a big smile on his face. "Let's go on that ride first! Come on!" He took hold of Tomoyo's hand and dragged her to the quite long line. "Eh...well at least you can finish your ice cream."
"Hai. Hai," Tomoyo replied with a faint smile.
"Arigato Hiiragizawa-kun..."
Eriol finally snapped out of his thoughts and realized he looked like an idiot just standing there with the key in the keyhole for over a minute. Quickly, he turned the key and walked in.
Right after taking off his jacket, he walked into his study room, wanting nothing more than to finish his sculpture.
~*~*~*~*~*Daidouji Manor~*~*~*~*~*
In her room, Tomoyo stared at the blade in which she was planning to use earlier. Walking over to it, she began to pick it up.
"Daidouji-san," Eriol began.
Tomoyo turned towards him. "Nani?"
"Why don't you and I do something like this again? For your birthday maybe?" Eriol suggested.
A smile crossed Tomoyo's face. "Sure, why not?"
"All right," Eriol replied gleefully. "Here." As he pulled out his hand from his back, a yellow rose appeared in his hand. "Yellow is for friendship. I know you said you'd think about it, but it's still for you."
Tomoyo accepted the rose happily. "Arigato Hiiragizawa-kun."
"Actually, I wanted to thank you for a wonderful time Daidouji-san. I haven't had quite this amount of enjoyment in a while," Eriol replied with a wide smile. "So, arigato Daidouji-san!"
Tomoyo turned away from the blade as tears quickly came down her face. Instantly, she caught sight of the yellow rose, all alone in a rather large vase, quite like herself in such a large world. "Yellow is for friendship..." She looked down at her hand, where the scar still remained. "Hiiragizawa-kun..."
~*~*~*~*~*Tomorrow~*~*~*~*~*
Tomoyo sat next to the window. The curtains were open, as well as the window itself, but instead of staring out of the window, she was staring at the rose. Sakura-chan...
"Tomoyo-san," Meiling whispered as she quietly came into Tomoyo's room.
Tomoyo sighed as she shut her eyes.
"Are you okay?" Meiling asked softly. "You left early yesterday and when Eriol-san came back, he said you had already come home."
Tomoyo slowly stood up, pushing her chair back. "Gomenasai Meiling-san but I'll be out for a while. You don't mind...do you?"
"It's okay...you just take all the time you need okay?" Meiling replied.
Tomoyo nodded with a faint smile. "Thanks for understanding."
Meiling just stared as Tomoyo walked passed her and out of the house.
Tomoyo walked into the park, putting on her fake smile whenever someone would happen to walk pass her. She came upon an isolated bench and took her seat.
Sakura-chan, I suppose I should try to be happy for you. You've been through so much and I don't want you to worry about me...
"Daidouji-san..."
Tomoyo shifted her gaze from the ground to the person beside her. "Hira...gi..zawa-kun?"
"O Tanjoubi Omedetto Daidouji-san," Eriol greeted with a bright smile. "Here...it's for you. I made it myself, completely magicless. I just hope you like it."
Tomoyo stared at the box in his hands. Eriol sat down beside her with one quick movement.
"I can understand if you don't want to see me, but please take this for your birthday." He placed the box on her lap, where both her hands lay.
Immediately, the tears filled Tomoyo's eyes once more.
"I wish you the best on your birthday. And may your dreams come true," Eriol stated as he stood up and began to leave. "Happy birthday Daidouji-san..."
After Eriol disappeared from her sight, Tomoyo's gaze fell to the box in her hands. Suddenly, the tears began to fall endlessly. "Hiiragizawa-kun...you baka...I hate you..."
Oh those endless tears...
They never seem to stop...
