Endless Tears
By: Megori
Author Notes: Okay peoples! Here it is the last and final part of Endless Tears. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did while writing it. This could be my last fan fiction for a while, unless if All I Wanted turns out okay too, then I'll type it out for you guys. Well, it's been ten years since the last chapter...and so the chapter begins.
Chapter 3 The End of Tears
Tomoyo sighed as her gaze moved up to the sky. Eriol-kun...where are you? I haven't heard from you within the last six years.
"Auntie Tomoyo!" shouted a short, light brown haired boy with the same emerald eyes as his mother. "Come on! Kasumi wants you to play with us!"
Tomoyo smiled slightly. "Hai!" How come I get myself stuck babysitting for Sakura-chan and Syaoran-kun's two kids all of the time? Oh well, they're both so adorable.
"Come on! Come on! Come on!" the boy repeated as he came up to Tomoyo and took hold of her hand.
Tomoyo stood up and quickly followed the boy. "Kenji...is Kasumi playing hide and seek again?"
"Ruki is too!" Kenji replied. "Terada-san told us we could play with her. And so she left to buy us some ice cream just a second ago."
Tomoyo looked up. "Rika-chan and Terada-sensei?"
"Hai...okay, here we are Auntie Tomoyo. You can start looking for them now," Kenji stated as he let her hand go.
Tomoyo nodded with a smile. "Okay well, here I go!" Turning to her right, Tomoyo instantly spotted the two girls giggling behind the Penguin slide. Pretending she didn't see them, she turned to her left and walked around a bench. "Ne, where could they be? Here?" She continued slowly and silently towards the giggling pair of girls. "Or could they be here!?!"
"Ahhh!"
Tomoyo chased the two girls out of hiding.
"Tomoyo-chan?" came Rika's voice.
Tomoyo looked up from the two girls and to Rika. "Oh Rika-chan...konnichiwa."
"Konnichiwa," Rika replied. "I had a feeling you were watching them. It's just like Sakura-chan and Syaoran-kun to leave their children with you."
Tomoyo smiled. "I don't mind at all."
"Eh? Oh, here's the ice cream I promised you three," Rika stated as the three kids ran up to her quickly. After they left, Rika handed the fifth one to Tomoyo. "Here...you don't mind Moose Track do you?"
Tomoyo took the cone gently with a shake of her head. "Arigato Rika-chan. Maybe next time, it'll be my treat."
"Tomoyo-chan," Rika whispered. "Tomorrow is the 6th year anniversary of your mother's death isn't it?"
Tomoyo nodded lightly. "It is...and I'm going to go back to the mansion for a few hours...that way, I could at least feel like she's still with me."
"I see..."
~*~*~*~*~*Eriol~*~*~*~*~*
"Eriol, you've done well in the past few years. I have but one last favor to ask of you," stated a man in a black suit.
Eriol looked up from the papers in his hand. "Of course sir."
"There's a bit of business left that's yet to be done in Japan. After that, we'll be out for good. And then you're free to go," he replied.
Eriol nodded. "Yes, of course sir..."
"Well, you and Kari are leaving tonight. Your flight leaves at 10:30 pm. You're leaving to Japan as a one way right?"
Eriol nodded once more with a smile. "Yeah...I want to spend a few years there and show Kari some of the sites I love."
"Well then, I wish you and Kari the best."
~*~*~*~*~*Tomoyo~*~*~*~*~*
Tomoyo sighed, leaning back in her chair. Man, I'm just glad I didn't take fashion designing full time. It just doesn't feel right anymore
She etched her pencil across the paper absentmindedly. Her eyes slowly closed as she felt sleep crawling over her body. "So...tired..."
Silently and gently her head fell to the desk and she was off in dreamland.
~*~*~*~*~*12:30 am~*~*~*~*~*
"Wow! Japan is seriously something else!" whispered a waist length brunette with light brown eyes in awe. "Ne Eriol, what city are we going to stay in?"
Eriol turned to her with a smile. "Kari, don't get too excited. This is only the airport you know."
Eriol-sama...!?! Ahhh! I just want to kick that Kari's butt! Oooo...if I could only... Nakuru glared at Kari in pure hatred. "It doesn't matter where we are staying. But when morning comes, I'm not staying with you two anymore."
"Nakuru," Eriol stated firmly.
Ignoring her master and with Suppi, in her pocket, Nakuru walked off to pick up her bags.
What's wrong with her? Eriol turned back to Kari and suggested that they, too, should go and get their bags.
"Eriol-sama...how could you?" Nakuru whispered angrily as she continued out of the airport. "How could you forget?"
~*~*~*~*~*9:00 am~*~*~*~*~*
Tomoyo sighed deeply as she stopped in front of what used to be the Daidouji Mansion. "Okaasan..." She held back the tears as she opened the gates and walked in. In her hands, she carried a bouquet of roses in the color of dark purple, her mother's favorite color.
As she entered the house, she noticed another pair of shoes belonging to some unknown person. Instantly she stepped into the family room and found a female staring at the portrait of the deceased Sonomi and her 12 year-old daughter.
"Excuse me," Tomoyo stated curiously.
The girl whipped around immediately. "Oh, is this your house? I had asked some people for the Daidouji Manor and they told me this was it. They also said that when the mother had died, her daughter moved out."
"Well, this is my house," Tomoyo replied hesitantly. "I just didn't think anyone cared."
She smiled at Tomoyo. "Oh, well, my husband's friend used to live here. He had told me all about her. He said her name was Daidouji Tomoyo. So I'm supposing she's the little girl in the portrait. I would love to meet her."
"H...husband?" Tomoyo repeated.
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Hiiragizawa Kari. It's a pleasure to meet you..." Kari stated as she put her hand out.
Tomoyo felt her heart almost stop. "Hiira...gi...zawa?"
"Hai. Hiiragizawa Eriol is my husband's name," Kari replied. "Do you know him?"
Tomoyo nodded with a fake smile. "Of course...I'm Daidouji Tomoyo."
Several minutes later, Tomoyo escorted Kari to the front gates and waved bye.
Around the corner, Nakuru's grip around Suppi tightened as rage filled her mind at the sight of Kari with Tomoyo. After Kari was out of sight, Nakuru finally stepped out.
"Tomoyo-san!"
Tomoyo turned around at the call of her name. "Nakuru-san? Spinel-sun?"
"Tomoyo-san!" Nakuru repeated as she ran up to Tomoyo. She hugged Tomoyo tightly as tears ran down her face. "Tomoyo-san, I'm so sorry...I told Eriol-sama to wait... I told him you wouldn't forget, but he had forgotten...I'm so sorry."
Tomoyo smiled faintly. "It's okay Nakuru-san. If Hiiragizawa-kun is happy now..."
"Tomoyo-san?" Nakuru whispered.
Suppi floated to her shoulder. "Eriol-sama had lost all hope of returning to you...therefore he had worked 24 hours everyday. And eventually lost all memories of you. Please don't blame him."
"Don't worry about that Spinel-sun. Hiiragizawa-kun and I were only friends...and that's how it'll always be. He doesn't need my approval on who to marry," Tomoyo replied. "Would you two like to come in for some tea?"
A few minutes later, Nakuru settled herself down into one of the chairs quietly. "Thank you Tomoyo-san."
"Nakuru-san, is Hiiragizawa-kun going to visit as well?" Tomoyo stated rather emotionlessly. "Sakura-chan will be happy to see him again."
Nakuru shrugged as Spinel cleared his throat. "Eriol-sama is here to finish the bits of business he has left...I would doubt if he even remembers that Tomoeda exists."
"I see....too bad really," Tomoyo replied. "Would you like some cookies?"
"Tomoyo-san..." Nakuru began.
Tomoyo looked up with a fake smile. "Nakuru-san, how was life back in England? I do hope it wasn't too dull."
"Tomoyo-san, this just doesn't feel right to me anymore... It doesn't feel the same as it used to," Nakuru replied, ignoring her.
Tomoyo's smile widened a bit. "I am sorry...." Tomoyo pulled out her planner from her bag. "This Saturday, a few of us are going to go to the beach. If the two of you, with Hiiragizawa-kun and Kari-san would like to come..."
"I hate Kari," Nakuru stated as she drank her tea.
Tomoyo's expression blanked as she too took a sip from her tea. "Why is that? She seems perfect for Hiiragizawa-kun."
"Because of just who she is. Eriol-sama doesn't even care about me or Spinel anymore. And more importantly....you. It's like he can't even stand a second away from her yet he hasn't told her about his past....about being a sorcerer, creating me and Spinel....he tells her I'm his cousin," Nakuru replied.
Tomoyo gently placed her cup back down on the table. "Nakuru-san....you sound kind of like Syaoran-kun. But still....will you ask them....for me?"
"Tomoyo-san," Nakuru stated.
She leaned closer to Nakuru. "Nakuru-san, will you? Please?"
"Of course," Nakuru replied finally.
Tomoyo smiled. "Thank you. It means a lot to me."
"I know it does Tomoyo-san. I know it does," Nakuru replied quietly. "Spinel and I should be going now..."
Tomoyo nodded slowly. "Maybe next time, we can all go and play at the park together...ne? Just like old times?"
"Tomoyo-san," Nakuru whispered under her breath as Tomoyo's pain pierced through her heart. "Hai..." She picked up Spinel and headed for the door. "Jaa ne, Tomoyo-san."
"Jaa ne Nakuru-san, Spinel-sun."
After they left, Tomoyo buried her face into her hands and let the tears flow; the first time since her mother's death. I should have seen it coming. I should have known...why do I keep letting the same thing happen to me? Don't I learn from my mistakes?
"Okaasan....why does so many bad things happen to me? Am I the bad luck charm? Okaasan..."
~*~*~*~*~*Eriol~*~*~*~*~*
"Oh Kari! Where did you go? We have a meeting to attend in five hours," Eriol stated as the front door closed and Kari stepped in.
Kari ran up to her husband and kissed his cheek blissfully. "Eriol, I had just visited someone! Come with me! I want to surprise you with something!"
"Eh? We just came to Japan and you already know someone?" Eriol replied as he looked up to her.
Kari smiled. "Just trust me...and put this on." She pulled out a bandana and covered Eriol's eyes with it. "It's about thirty minutes away....so it'll take a while."
"Must I wear this for the ride? I can't see anything," Eriol complained.
"Stop complaining! Come on," she dragged him out of the hotel and down into the car. After seating Eriol in the passenger seat, she ran to the driver's seat and started up the car.
Quickly, she drove through the busy streets of Tokyo and into the quiet streets of the more country-like side of Japan. Within thirty minutes, she was in Tomoeda, with a husband who just wouldn't stop complaining.
"Just a little bit more Eriol...we're almost there," Kari stated as she turned the corner and came to a stop in the parking lot of the beach.
It was completely empty, except for Tomoyo, who was sitting along the water's edge quietly with a bouquet of nadeshiko flowers that she had made herself.
Kari dragged Eriol out of the car and forced him to quiet down. Continuing down to Tomoyo, Kari dragged Eriol onward. As they reached the sandy beach, Kari pulled off Eriol's blindfold.
"Nani?" Eriol scanned the area as his eyes rested on the lonely female. His eyes widened in disbelief as all the words he ever learned left his mind.
"Tomoyo-san!" Kari shouted happily.
Tomoyo's head jerked up and around instantly as her gaze, too, fell upon Eriol. "Kari-san?"
"See...this is Eriol...see? See?" Kari repeated as she dragged Eriol to Tomoyo.
Tomoyo stood up with another fake smile. "Konnichiwa Hiiragizawa-kun. It's been quite the years. And it seems you've already found your soul mate...before me."
"To...mo...yo-san..." Eriol whispered as tears filled his eyes and memories flashed back to him. He instantly wrapped his arms around her tightly. "Tomoyo-san! I'm so sorry....I'm sorry..."
Tomoyo closed her eyes for a few seconds, not wanting the tears to come, not anymore. "Hiiragizawa-kun...you act like you've done something wrong. We've just met again and you're already sorry?"
"Tomoyo-san...don't talk like that. Don't talk like you don't remember," Eriol stated with a hoarse voice.
Tomoyo frowned instantly as she pushed away from him. She felt the rage flow through her body uncontrollably. "Don't talk like I don't remember? What do you want me to do then?! What do you want from me now? If you want my heart, you had already had it! But....but then you ripped it up into shreds! Now what? Are you back to rip it up even more?! I had waited for you for ten years! And never once had I ever forgotten about you!" She grabbed her heart and took a step back, stepping into the bouquet of nadeshikos. "I...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to..."
"Tomoyo-san..." Eriol whispered as he just stared at her.
Tomoyo turned away. "I'm sorry...I've just been having a bad day. It was a pleasure seeing you again Hiiragizawa-kun. I'll excuse myself now." She bit her lower lip and walked off quickly.
"Eh?" Kari stated, finally. "What was that all about Eriol?"
Eriol looked down to the crumpled bouquet of nadeshiko flowers. "Nothing....it was nothing Kari...just things from the past..."
"Eriol..." Kari began.
"Let's go back home Kari."
~*~*~*~*~*Saturday~*~*~*~*~*
"Nakuru-chan!" Sakura shouted as she ran up to Nakuru with a deadening hug. "It's been so long!"
Syaoran looked up from the sandwich in his lap. "They're back?"
"It's nice to have them back, isn't it Syaoran-kun?" Tomoyo stated as she gazed up to Eriol, Kari and Nakuru.
Syaoran turned to her and instantly knew something wasn't right. "Tomoyo-chan..."
"Kari-san! Konnichiwa! I'm so glad you could make it," Tomoyo shouted with all of the enthusiasm she had at the moment.
Everyone stared at Kari for a while. Sakura let go of Nakuru and stared at her as well.
"Um....konnichiwa. I'm Li Sakura...and you are?" Sakura stated with curiosity.
Kari smiled at Sakura blissfully. "Konnichiwa! I'm Hiiragizawa Kari. Eriol has told me a lot about you too!"
"Your sister Eriol-kun?" Sakura inquired. "You hadn't ever told us you had any relatives besides Syaoran-kun."
Eriol felt a sharp pain as he saw everyone now gathering around them.
"Sakura-chan! How can you mistaken Hiiragizawa-kun's wife for his sister?" Tomoyo stated, breaking the silence as she also stepped closer to them. "Here Kari, try my riceballs."
Everyone's mouth dropped open immediately. "NANI?!"
"Oh come off it everyone. Leaving for ten years...what else would you expect...ne Hiiragizawa-kun?" Tomoyo replied as she saw the expression on everyone's face. "It's not surprising to me at all..."
Syaoran frowned as he grabbed Tomoyo's hand and dragged her to the isolated water's edge. "Tomoyo-chan! You knew about this and you didn't even tell me?!"
"Tomoyo-chan!" Sakura shouted as she came running up to them. "Are you really okay with this? I mean..."
Instantly, tears started to roll down her pale cheeks. "Whether I'm okay with it or not....it doesn't matter....not anymore...not ever....not even before. I don't want to be of anything more than a friend to him anymore...he had always deserved much better than me anyway..."
"Tomoyo-chan...you loved him with all your heart though..." Sakura replied.
Tomoyo smiled through her tears. "Love is a feeling I know no one will return to me. Love is just a feeling I'll always have to keep to myself."
"Tomoyo-chan," Syaoran began. "Don't say such nonsense. You know as much as we do that both Sakura and I love you with all of your hearts."
"We love you too Auntie Tomoyo," Kenji added with Kasumi by his side. "We love you lots!"
Tomoyo smiled as she kneeled down and kissed the both on the forehead. "Arigato Kenji, Kasumi. I hope you know I love you too." She stood back up and looked off into the direction of Eriol. "Just look at how happy he is with her. And even in his marriage, he worries about me. But I don't want that, not now...not ever."
"I'm going to talk to Eriol," Syaoran stated as he turned back and left before anyone could reply.
Within a few minutes, Syaoran was back with Eriol right behind him. "I seriously don't care about how you two feel towards each other anymore. The two of you had just better talk things out and at least be friends."
As they came up to Sakura and the others, Syaoran took hold of his wife and children and left the other two alone, for the first time in ten years.
"Konnichiwa," Tomoyo greeted as she turned her gaze to the horizon.
Eriol continued to stare at her, rather uncomfortably. "Konnichiwa."
"Ne Hiiragizawa-kun, how many years has it been already since your wedding?" Tomoyo inquired.
Eriol hesitated for a moment. "Uh..."
"I suppose I can't blame you if you don't know. Nakuru said you had started overworking yourself...so most likely, your memory isn't completely clear," Tomoyo stated with a faint grin.
Eriol smiled slightly. "Can we still call each other by our first names? You know...like old times?"
"We are still friends, aren't we?" Tomoyo replied.
Eriol's smile widened. "Of course."
"Well then, of course we can...Eriol-kun," Tomoyo replied as she stated walking along the shore's edge.
Eriol followed behind her. "Tomoyo-san, you didn't wait for me all of these years, did you?"
"What? Don't you believe me when I say I'll keep my promise?" Tomoyo asked curiously.
Eriol sighed. "I mean, you've been with other guys....right?"
"I had to at least give other males a chance," Tomoyo replied with a smile. "But none of those relationships lasted longer than a week. They were all moving far too fast for me."
Eriol smiled. "How many were there?"
'Probably five over the entire ten year course," Tomoyo replied. "What about you? Was there anyone before you decided upon Kari?"
Eriol shook his head slowly. "Nope."
"How long will you be in Japan?" Tomoyo questioned.
"From now on...I hope."
"In Tomoeda?"
"Kari and I are going to buy a house and move into Tomoeda sometime soon. We have to finish the business in Tokyo first tonight."
"That's good news."
"What about you Tomoyo-san? I hear you've moved out of your old mansion and into an apartment in a nearby town for college."
"I've recently been promoted in my current job."
"Really?"
"I'll be moving to Tokyo next week. It's about an hour from where I live."
"You will visit us won't you?"
"Of course I will Eriol-kun."
"Tomoyo-san..."
"Nani?"
"I have a bad feeling about Tokyo."
"A bad feeling?"
"Can't you stay in Tomoeda?"
Tomoyo stopped as she turned towards the beach waters once more. "Eriol-kun, I want you to understand that this is my choice. I didn't stop you from returning to England... besides, we can still see each other when I'm not busy. I hope I'm not sounding rude or anything."
"Tomoyo-san....I understand," Eriol replied.
"Eriol! Tomoyo-san! It's lunchtime!" Kari shouted from a bit a few feet away.
Tomoyo looked up to her with a smile. "Hai! We're coming!" She turned back to Eriol. "I'm really glad we can still be friends Eriol-kun."
"It's my pleasure," Eriol replied following Tomoyo to the others.
Tomoyo came to a stop in front of Kari. "How's the takoyaki?"
"Yea, Tomoyo-chan made it herself too," Sakura added blissfully.
Kari smiled. "It's wonderful! I've never tasted anything so delicious! You're a wonderful cook!"
"Arigato," Tomoyo replied before walking up to Nakuru. "Ne, Nakuru-san...you have Spinel-sun with you, correct?"
Nakuru nodded. "OF course...trying to restrain him is the problem." And as it seems, a round head with pointy ears seemed to have popped in and out of her pocket constantly.
"Here, I'll take him. Besides, I've got to take some takoyaki to Kero-chan. He and Spinel-sun can share," Tomoyo replied with a smile.
Nakuru agreed and handed Spinel to her. "Just don't let him loose until he's completely in the car with Kero-chan."
"Of course," Tomoyo replied just before stuffing Spinel into her bag. She turned towards the parking lot with a bag full of takoyaki and started off towards Sakura and Syaoran's car.
Eriol on the other hand, was discussing the Li clan antiques with Syaoran, Sakura and Kari.
"What are you to Syaoran-san, Eriol?" Kari asked curiously.
Eriol hesitated. "Um....I suppose you can say he's kind of like my son."
"WHAT?!" Syaoran retorted. "You know far too well that it's nothing like that! You liar! I am nothing close to being your son!"
Sakura fell into a laughing fit as she and Kari watched the boys continue to argue.
~*~*~*~*~*One Month Later~*~*~*~*~*
"Where's Kari today? Why didn't she come too?" Tomoyo questioned as Eriol's wife was no where in sight.
Eriol looked over the beach's water carefully. "She didn't want to come today...."
"Why do you look so concerned Eriol-kun?" Tomoyo asked as she frowned at his expression.
Eriol sighed. "I don't really know. My magic has been gone for years now...but I'm getting strange feelings about stuff again. Tomoyo-san...one of those bad feelings has to do with you living in Tokyo..."
"Eriol-kun, if it's about death, I promise that I won't let myself die until I see your children. You have my word on it too Eriol-kun," Tomoyo stated with a distant smile.
Eriol frowned. "Don't say that! Of all things Tomoyo-san, you should never talk of death!" He lowered his voice as he turned to the ground. "Besides, I wouldn't want to live a life without you. You've helped me through so much and..."
"Eriol-kun, let's not bother the past anymore. The past was the past and many years ago. Let's forget about everything....our feelings the promises....everything. Let's just start fresh again...now, this very moment, okay?" Tomoyo stated, cutting him off.
Eriol turned to look at her. Tears slowly came to his eyes. "Tomoyo-san..."
"Just say yes Eriol-kun. Don't make things any more difficult than they already are for me. And don't cry...you're a married man now," Tomoyo replied without even looking at Eriol. "I just want to be friends, nothing more and nothing less."
Eriol nodded. "Of course Tomoyo-san. Friendship is far more precious than love... because it's a deeper kind of love."
Tomoyo closed her eyes and laid back on the sand. "How relaxing is this Eriol-kun? I haven't done anything like this in a long time!"
"Don't get carried away either," Eriol replied with a slight smile.
Tomoyo glared at him with a fake frown. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing really....it's just that every time I try to relax, Nakuru gets carried away," Eriol replied once more with an even bigger smile.
Tomoyo sat up and turned her gaze to the setting sun. "Well, it's getting late Eriol-kun. I have a dress to finish too."
"Didn't you tell Nakuru you weren't going to continue fashion?" Eriol questioned curiously.
Tomoyo sighed as she pulled her knees up to her chin. "I had decided to just stay with it. But I have dropped video making and photography."
"Video making and photography?" Eriol repeated. "But you loved all of your cameras."
Tomoyo shook her head. "I had thought I did." She sighed once more and stood up. "Well, I have to get back to Tokyo now. I'll probably see you next weekend again.... okay?"
"Okay."
"And bring Kari next time."
"Of course."
Tomoyo waved good-bye as she left the beach instantly and came up to the Li residence.
"Tomoyo-chan," Sakura gasped.
Tears were rolling down the cheeks of Tomoyo as quickly as they were being formed.
"Tomoyo-chan, what's wrong?" Sakura asked worriedly as she embraced her friend comfortingly.
Tomoyo felt her knees buckle in and her muscles grow weak as she left the pain surge through her body. "I can't get away from him...everywhere I go...every time I close my eyes....he's always there..."
"Tomoyo-chan," Sakura whispered.
"I had moved to Tokyo purposely. And yet he came and found me. I had taken fashion full time to escape him but she still follows me. Sakura-chan...I still love him...but I don't want to tell him anymore," Tomoyo sobbed as her friend's embrace tightened. "I can't let go of it either..."
Sakura felt the tears hit the rim of her eyes. "Tomoyo-chan, you will never be able to let go love. It's just not possible." She looked up and saw her husband staring worriedly at her.
Tomoyo had come crying to Sakura for the entire past month. And Syaoran was sure things were only getting worse for Tomoyo.
"Everything will turn out all right in the end," Sakura continued.
"Arigato Sakura-chan. You're always there for me," Tomoyo whispered.
Sakura smiled partially satisfied. "Don't worry about it. You were always there for me too, remember?"
"Sakura-chan, I have a feeling that something really bad is going to happen. I don't know what...I just hope it has nothing to do with Eriol-kun or Kari," Tomoyo replied.
Sakura raised a brow curiously. "Let's hope that feeling is completely wrong."
~*~*~*~*~*The Guardians~*~*~*~*~*
"It's coming soon," Nakuru whispered as Spinel, who was perched on her shoulder sighed. "The time of consequences for his decisions."
Yue, with his arms crossed in front of his chest and his long hair swaying in the wind, closed his eyes. "I can't believe it all comes down to this. He has no more magic...does he really need to go through this?"
"More than you can expect Yue. It must be done...the time is drawing nearer," Spinel replied.
Cerberus frowned as he growled at Nakuru and Spinel. "But he's your master?! And he cares so much for her....don't you even care?"
"It was his choice to leave her!" Nakuru shot back. "Now fate has to run its course according to the path he took. None of us can and WILL NOT do anything about it."
"I will not stand here and do nothing!" Yue proclaimed. "I cannot let my mistress down."
"We will see about that," Nakuru replied before disappearing with Spinel.
Yue turned to Cerberus worriedly. "Cerberus, what should we do?"
"I wish I knew Yue....I wish I knew..."
~*~*~*~*~*A Few Days Later~*~*~*~*~*
"Eriol! Come on!" Kari shouted from the bottom of the stairs. "All of the cherry blossoms are going to die before you get ready!"
"I'm coming! Just a second," Eriol replied as he grabbed something just before running down the stairs to his wife.
Kari sighed. "At last! I've been waiting to go to the Pink Cherry Festival for forever now. And I have you and Tomoyo-san to give me a tour."
"Tomoyo-san?"
"Hai, is that a problem?" Kari replied.
Eriol shook his head. "NO...of course not." What's bothering me is why she's been ignoring me for the past few days. I haven't seen her since last weekend.
"Eriol?"
"Let's go okay?"
"Okay."
As the reached the festival grounds, Tomoyo greeted them in a pastel purple silk kimono with plum blossom designs.
"Tomoyo-san! You're so kawaii!" Kari proclaimed hysterically.
Right away, Eriol knew the kimono was made by Tomoyo herself.
"Arigato Kari-san. Baby blue fits you perfectly," Tomoyo replied with a smile.
Kari smiled in return. "Arigato. Eriol chose it for me...he said it was made by the best designer....though he hasn't told me who that is..."
"Eh?" Tomoyo stared at the baby blue kimono closer and realized it was one of hers all along.
Kari sighed. "I really want to know who the designer is....I love the way they worked the cherry blossoms onto it."
"It's Tomoyo-san," Eriol replied with a sign of hesitation. "Tomoyo-san is a fashion designer...varying from everyday clothes to wedding dresses and far beyond."
Kari turned to Tomoyo instantly. "Tomoyo-san?! Wai! I should have known!" She looked back down to her kimono. "If I knew you were a fashion designer, I would've known this was yours. It's so kawaii!"
"Ne, we should really get started if we want to make it everywhere," Tomoyo stated.
Kari nodded and off they went.
"Oh look! I'm going on this! You two just wait here," Kari announced as she left Eriol and Tomoyo.
As she disappeared into the crowd, Eriol turned to Tomoyo instantly. "Tomoyo-san you were avoiding me this week weren't you?"
"Why would I?" Tomoyo replied.
"Because it's just like you to do that."
Tomoyo didn't reply.
"What's wrong? Have I done something wrong? Didn't we settle our problems last week?"
No reply.
"Why do you keep doing this to me? Just tell me what I did wrong!"
No reply.
"Are you ignoring me now?"
"Why do you always assume you did something wrong?"
Eriol stared at Tomoyo in confusion.
"You didn't do anything."
"Then why do you hate me so much?"
"Have I ever said I hated you?"
"You sure act like it. Just tell me why you're avoiding me."
"You assume far too much Eriol-kun."
"Look, I'm sorry I broke my promises! I broke every single one of them! I'm sorry Tomoyo-san. I just want us to be together again...but as friends this time."
"I don't care about your stupid promises! I know you broke every single one! But look at you know! You don't look sorry to me. You always want everything your way Eriol-kun, but it stops here....with me."
"Tomoyo-san..."
"I'm sick of your talk..."
A few seconds later, Kari came running back to them, completely breathless and blissful. "Eh? What's wrong?"
"Gomenasai Kari-san. I just remembered that I have business that has yet to be done. I'm sorry for the short tour," Tomoyo stated. "I'm sure Eriol-kun can tell you about everything else."
Kari nodded dumbly. "Oh, okay. Thanks for coming though."
Tomoyo nodded and turned back to leave.
"Tomoyo-san, I'm really sorry. I had never meant to hurt you," Eriol blurted just before she was to leave.
Tomoyo felt the threatening tears. "Your words have lied to me once before Eriol-kun." She left out deep breath and walked away. Eriol-kun...you're still the same baka as before...
After she reached her apartment, she slammed the door closed and fell to the ground crying.
Eriol-kun....being sorry will never be enough to erase the scars you've placed on my heart. Why can't you see that no matter how much I want to be with you, I can't. My heart breaks every time I see your face. Eriol-kun you baka...
She buried her face into her hands and drew her knees up to her chin. I'll love you no matter what...and with my love, I won't let anything happen to you and Kari.

"Eriol, I can't believe you would do such a thing to her! I thought you two were best friends," Kari stated with a pout, not knowing how serious the situation was.
Eriol's face was emotionless and his eyes completely blank. "There are some things you should know about me and Tomoyo-san." He took hold of her hand tightly. "I'll tell you when we get back home."
"What was that all about?" Sakura whispered from behind a bush. "Eriol-kun seemed angry or something..."
Syaoran's brows deepened into thought. "I have a strange feeling about everything... Eriol's loss of power...Tomoyo in Tokyo and all of this... Something's going to happen, but what? And more importantly, when?"
"Cerberus, we should find Tomoyo now. Whatever's going to happen...we have to try and protect her...for Sakura's sake," Yue stated as he and Cerberus hovered high above their mistress.
Cerberus nodded. "How do we know where she is though? She could be anywhere."
"Let's just hope we'll find her in time..."
"They're such idiots Spinel," Nakuru whispered, watching the other two guardians from the ground. "They'll never find her in time. It's all too late now."
"Are you sure this is the right thing to do Nakuru? What if..." Spinel stated.
Nakuru shook her head. "There are no 'what ifs' Spinel. Her destiny was chosen by Eriol-sama himself. He was given the chance to be with Tomoyo-san and be forever happy, but he chose the other path...with Kari."
~*~*~*~*~*Eriol and Kari~*~*~*~*~*
"You should sit; it will take a while," Eriol stated as they entered the living room of their house.
Kari stared curiously at him as she took a seat. Funny...I'm his wide and he's treating me as if I were a mere guest...
"Before Tomoyo and I, there was Kaho," Eriol began. "She was elegant, graceful and beautiful in every way possible."
"Eriol..." Kari whispered as she saw her husband's expression sadden. He's never told me of her before...
"I had loved her with everything I had. I was sure of it. I was so sure we were to me married...we had been engaged for a number of years..." Eriol continued. His hands slowly began to tremble. "But then she left me. She said that Tomoyo-san needed me...because she was recovering from a broken heart created over a number of years."
Kari raised a brow. "She left you to be with Tomoyo-san?"
About an hour into the explanation and history of Eriol, he was finally ready to tell his wife something he's been afraid to for so long now.
"Before my departure to England, I had promised to return for her. I had promised I'd come back to Japan...to her," Eriol stated.
Kari just stared at the table, dazzled by the strange story that seemed like a TV soap opera. "But you two were just friends...right?"
"Kari, before I left, we had told each other our feelings...she had loved me...and I loved her back," Eriol replied. "That's why I promised to come back to her and her alone. But I broke that promise."
Kari looked up to him. "Because you married me...."
"Kari..." Eriol paused and looked up. "These past few weeks I've found feelings I thought I had lost forever..."
"Eriol..."
"I still love her...I still love Tomoyo-san..."
~*~*~*~*~*Tomoyo~*~*~*~*~*
Tomoyo looked through her jewelry box with no reason at all. "It's been such a long time since I've done nothing...."
As she dipped her hand into one of her boxes, she pulled out a gold necklace with a heart pendant that read "Love is Forever." A smile came across her face immediately.
"Love is forever Eriol-kun...And yet it is never..."
She lifted the necklace up to her heart. Suddenly, the ground started to shake and screams were heard. Tomoyo stood up, half in fear and half in curiosity.
"Nani?" Tomoyo whispered as she walked towards the door.
Just before she placed her hand on the doorknob, one of the support beams holding up her apartment came crashing through her walls and knocked her to the ground. Soon enough, the entire building started to come down as the earth shook ever more violently.
She closed her eyes in pain as she finally realized she had a large cut across her forehead. It seems a nail from the support beam had ripped her forehead open and blood was gushing out.
She slowly opened her eyes again and turned to the necklace still in her hand. A smile came upon her face as sirens were heard in the distance somewhere.
"Eriol-kun...."
~*~*~*~*~*Eriol and Kari~*~*~*~*~*
Eriol's eyes snapped open immediately as he felt a small quake of the ground. "Kari..."
"I felt it too," Kari replied worriedly.
Eriol picked up the remote control and turned on the news instantly.
"An Earth shattering 8.8 earthquake had just struck Tokyo seconds ago. At this moment, survivors are being searched for and rubble is being removed. The death toll...no one is sure at the moment. It is most likely that there would be countless amounts of bodies under all of the rubble for the deadly quake had struck this busy city mid-day and without warning at all.
Building after building, they fell and collided. May our nation pray that all will go well and good news will be reported only," the reporter stated as his eyes started to well up with tears.
Eriol immediately dropped the remote. "T...Tokyo?"
"Eriol," Kari stated worriedly.
"I have t go! Tomoyo-san!" He grabbed his jacket and ran off, Kari close behind him.
~*~*~*~*~*Tomoyo~*~*~*~*~*
It's been about three hours already...my time is running out...
Tomoyo felt a sharp pain hit her chest as her breathing continued to drop. Underneath all of the rubble, Tomoyo was still able to hear everything above.
"We have a survivor! Bring a stretcher!"
Tomoyo smiled weakly. Live...whoever you are...live for your family...and love...
"Tomoyo-san! Tomoyo-san!" echoed Eriol's voice.
Tomoyo slowly opened her eyes. "Eri...ol-kun...."
"Tomoyo-san! Please answer me!"
Her body instantly became numb. She turned her head towards her outstretched arm and smiled, seeing the necklace still in her hand.
"Tomoyo-san! Please!"
Tomoyo balled up her hand as much as she could as a tear rolled down her eyes. "Gomenasai Eriol-kun...I won't be able to keep my promise to you..." Tomoyo felt the pain in her chest again as blood slowly dribbled out of her mouth. "Eriol-kun..." She stared straight towards the necklace as her vision slowly began to blur. "I love you..."
"Tomoyo-san!"
A hand reached in and touched Tomoyo's cold limp hand, holding the necklace.
"Tomoyo-san?! Sakura-chan! Syaoran! She's here! I'm sure of it!"
As Eriol pulled the rubble away, he noticed the necklace immediately as Sakura and the others came running up to his side.
"It...it is her..."
"Oh my goodness," Sakura gasped as she buried her face into her husband's chest. "Tomoyo-chan..."
Thirty minutes of pushing, pulling and throwing pieces of rubble, Tomoyo's body was finally uncovered and Eriol took hold of it immediately.
"Tomoyo-san...why did you leave? Why did you leave me? Tomoyo-san..."
He pulled her limp body up as he held it tightly in his arms. "I loved you....I loved you..."
My tears have finally ended...arigato Eriol-kun...for everything
you've done for me...
I'll wait for you Eriol-kun, even if it takes forever...
The End
*stretches* I'm finally done! Well, that only took about two and a half months! ^^ Anyway, I hope it was good. When I had first started this fic, my ideas kept changing and I wasn't sure of what I wanted to happen at the end. (I had come up with three different endings....) Oh well, I chose this one as you all could tell.
Another thing you guys can probably tell, from reading most of my fics is that I seriously HATE writing happy endings. That is something I refuse to do unless if I'm in a really happy mood at the time of writing the ending.
Anyway, I thought Eriol sounded kind of like a cheater in this fic cause he had a wife already and yet he still loved Tomoyo....*smiles* Well, you guys wanted Eriol and Tomoyo right? So I had to have that in there. Kari's a really nice person people, don't get me wrong or anything. She' really open and supportive towards Eriol and Tomoyo's friendship. As for Nakuru, she's just angry at Eriol's decisions.
If you have anymore questions, just send them to love4tkari@hotmail.com and I'll try to answer them as soon as possible. For now, please give me your comments/reviews on this fics so it'll help me with my upcoming fics. (I've already written another one that's coming out soon...All I Wanted) It's not really Eriol and Tomoyo....and it's extremely short, probably the shortest I've ever written as a one shot. Oh well...this is it for now. Jaa!
