Forbidden Love Chapter 10

The Arising Darkness…

Sakura gasped in surprise. The staff was exactly like the one that she saw the boy in her dreams had held! //What is going on? How could he have the wand of darkness? Only Clow could have summon the staff that held the power of darkness! // Sakura could hear Yue's bewilderment in his voice. // Only Clow could release the staff of darkness? Could it be…// Sakura wondered in silence.

Eriol, still standing on the magic platform seemed to be in a trance. Suddenly, in the mist of the magic, he spoke. Soft, mysterious, but very clear. " In this lifetime, I am named Eriol Hagizawa. However, many centuries ago, I was named…" he paused, finally opening his cool clear eyes so blue that it was almost black, "Clow…"

"You have the same magic platform as Clow!" Sakura cried in sudden awareness. " He must be the recarnation of Clow!" Kero exclaimed, trying to explain to Sakura what she already knew from Yue's stunned thoughts. Kero, still in his stuff toy mode, flew in front of Sakura to confront Eriol, Clow. " If you are Clow, why are you doing this to Sakura? Why did you make Sakura go through all the dangers and troubles?!" Kero was unable to believe the kid was Clow. His master Clow!

" That… My dear cereubus is because I have something I want…" Eriol/Clow smiled to Kero patiently, as a father would smile to a questioning child.

Kero, stumped, for in that answer, he had almost hear Clow answering his questions centuries ago, in the house, before the roaring fireplace…

"Clow…" It was an understatement, a soft whisper that showed Kero's disbelief at the boy standing before him was indeed his former master, Clow.

Glancing wanly at Sakura who was clutching Yue's hands nervously, Eriol/Clow grinned and raising his staff, he uttered three words that may change Sakura's life forever. " Let us begin…"

Blackness surrounded the staff as soon as those three words were spoken. Gathering around the wand, the blackness suddenly exploded into a brilliant white light as the darkness shot up into the sky, spreading and obstructing the light from above. The blackness overshadowed the sun, like an eclipse. Slowly but surely, the town fell into pitch darkness.

"The sun and the moon! They are being obstructed!" Sakura exclaimed. Yue could feel Sakura's anxiousness and her fear being against the most powerful magician of all times. He could not blame her. After all, Sakura was not a very experienced magician and even a powerful and experienced magician would be afraid of Clow.

Beside Yue, Tomoyo was beginning to feel dizzy. " What was wrong with me? I feel so sleepy. I don't want to fall asleep… I want to capture Sakura on the…" She did not finish her sentence. Instead, Tomoyo very nearly plunged into the hard ground just before Yue, who was standing beside her managed to catch her in her fall, preventing bruises. Lying her gently on the ground, he turned to Sakura, who was showing very obvious concern for her friend. "Tomoyo! Yue! Is Tomoyo alright? What happened?!" Mentally, he told Sakura to calm down. Feeling her worry cease a little, he spoke softly, " Clow had cast a magic spell that caused everyone without magic to fall asleep."

Looking around, Yue saw Xiao Lang standing unsteadily on his feet. Using his broad Chinese sword to hold his ground, he managed to stutter out, " What have you done Clow?!"

Smiling wickedly at Xiao Lang, he waved his hands around to show Xiao Lang the darkness that was surrounding them. " I summoned the darkness… This city is already engulfed by darkness. Everyone and everything had already fallen into a deep slumber.

" What !!!" Both Sakura and Xiao Lang were shocked. Yue, getting over the initial shock that Clow was alive, was silent, knowing that Clow always had a reason for what he did. Kero, however, was still a little shocked by the reappearance of Clow.

"I had planned to make you fall asleep as well…" Eriol spoke to Xiao Lang, who had a stupefied look on his face. " But… you had grown stronger…" Eriol/Clow smiled like a satisfied cat who had ate the cream to Xiao Lang before turning to Sakura. " If this situation were to remain until the next sunrise, the people of this city will remain sleeping…"

"Until when?" Sakura asked, distressed and raising her voice.

Giving a serious look at Sakura, Eriol/Clow answered Sakura's question somberly. " Until forever…"

Looking into Tomoyo's pale face, Sakura felt a surge of guilt. " What do I have to do to make them wake up?" Sakura asked quietly.

The deep voice floated down from the Toyko Tower. " Only you have the power to break this magic. Only you can drive away this darkness…"

Turning her head so fast that she nearly snapped her neck, she exclaimed her doubts at her abilities. " What ?!" As if knowing what Sakura was thinking, Kero spoke on behalf of Sakura, " The present Sakura does not have enough power to…"

" It is not the time for you to be hesitant, Sakura. Time is still going…" Clow's deep voice interrupted Kero's passionate going-to-be speech.

" But… but I have neither the magic nor the power to break Eriol's magic…" Sakura stuttered. Yue felt Sakura's indecision and felt an urge to wrap his arms around her and take away her pain. However, that was not to be.

" Well then… Lets play a little game then, shall we?" Eriol said.

With that, the huge black winged panther lunged towards Sakura, roaring and shooting a beam of red laser at Sakura. Sakura, caught by surprise, was stunned, unable to move form the threat.

A blur of white light flew towards her. Yue, seeing the danger Sakura was in, speeded towards Sakura, embracing her in his warm arms, against his hard chest, spread his wings in record time to block the attack for Sakura. Fortunately, Yue's snowy wings were magical, enabling him to protect himself from the attack. Though he was not hurt much, a few of his feathers that were singed dropped lightly onto the ground.

A flash of golden light beside the lovers informed them of the appearance of Cereubus. While Yue's wings were white silver, Cereubus's wings were yellow golden. Like the sun, his symbol, Cereubus was a magnificent sight. Taking the shape of a lion, Cereubus was not bragging when he was saying how handsome he looked. Yellow fur tipped golden was covered all over his lean streamline body.

Roaring in anger, Cereubus glared angrily at the black panther, wanting to send his a fireball but withheld his anger as he knew Sakura would not be happy if he attacked the black cat, no matter how pompous he found the panther to be.

Eriol, at this point, pointed his staff towards Spinel Sun, sending him a boost of magic. Receiving the power and understanding his master's silent command, Spinel Sun gathered up his magic and shot an intensely bright red laser beam directly at Cereubus. In self defense, Cereubus opened his mouth to gave way to a straight burst of gold and yellow flame, seemingly just as intense as Spinel Sun's laser beam towards the Winged black panther.

The two attacks traveled towards each other at a neck breaking speed, crashing into each other. However, Cereubus's flames were not strong enough to withstand the intensity of the concentrated beam and the red laser went through the golden flame, hitting Cereubus straight in the chest. The force, though greatly decreased by his own flames, was still enough to toss Cereubus into the back, causing him to fell backwards.

" Cereubus!!!" Sakura screamed, in fear for her favorite guardian.

"Cerubus!!" Yue shouted, with worry for his companion, while spreading his wings and flying towards his `brother' with Sakura in his arms. Setting Sakura firmly onto the ground before landing himself, he wrapped his arms around Sakura's shoulders, which were shaking as tear gathered at the corners of his beloved eyes. His heart sank with worry and concern for Cereubus as well as desolance at Sakura's heartbreaking sobs.

Author's rambling:

So you like it? The battle is not over yet!!! I figure I would take one for two more chapters writing about the battle!! First time trying to write a battle scene of Sakura. Tell me if you like it ne? Did I do an OK job?

Gomen nasai, I think my next update is going to take more time as I had already started school. Right now, I am in my forth and last year in Secondary school. I have so much homework I had to sleep late every night and wake up at 6am the next morning… Though I did stay up to 1:30 am to write this fanfic, I do not have to wake up early tomorrow, as it is a weekend. =) I still enjoy writing fanfictions so I will continue writing this story…. Sigh…. I still have to finish my school homework… Damn…

Anyway, I wanna apologize for forgetting Yue's lovely wings in the earlier chapter. I am sooo sorry!! I didn't realize that until one of you mentioned that I did not describe his wings!! I CANNOT believe myself… I must be all muddled up… Sigh… Anyway, there are a few words I would like to say about Yue's wings.

::The wings were pure white, shone silver under the shimmering moonlight. The feathers, soft and warm, ruffled in freedom in the gentle cool breeze of the night. They were huge when spread, enough to engulf two person in with ease. Yet who could resist the white magnificent of the silky smooth wings? Who would not want to reach out and carcass them in the lightest of touch, with fear of messing up the so neatly folded feathers?::
