Rising at Dawn
Chapter 1: Visions and Dreams
"By the moonlight and across the sky, as the star's light fades, there will be a new. The days will be numbered as the shadows arise by nightfall and the power will be released once more. It is then when the eye shall awaken as its loyal shall bring forth red rain. The flower petals are few as the wolf hunts its prey. Finally, the new arrival shall awaken and fly with the wolf to chase the prey. As dawn arises, the birth to a new beginning shall be given." "Who are you? What do you want?" "By the moonlight and across the sky... by the moonlight and across the sky..." "Wait! Don't leave! Please tell me what you mean!" Darkness enshrouded our heroine as the mysterious voice started to fade away. "Please come back." "Sakura." "Huh? Syaoran..." Syaoran smiled at Sakura, but frowned as he turned away. "Syaoran, what's going on? Syaoran?" Syaoran started to fade away as he followed the voice. Sakura ran after them, but she tripped and fell on the way. "Wait! Come back! Syaoran!" Syaoran turned around, but continued to fade further and further away. "Syaoran!!!"
*~*
"Syaoran..." "Sakura! Wake up, Sakura!" "Huh? What?" "It's just me, monster. Wake up." "What is it?" "You were having a nightmare I hope." "What? How did you know?" "Good. Because if you have a good dream with that Chinese gaki in it, I'll..." "How did you know he was in it?" "You only said his name a billion times. Come down for breakfast already." Touya slammed the door. "Phew!" Kero relaxed after Touya disappeared. Sakura flushed as she looked down on the floor. Suddenly, her face paled again. "Sakura, what's wrong?" "Something's terribly wrong. I can feel it... the power of darkness... it's coming." "Did your dream tell you this?" "I... I... I forgot." "Ugh! Why does she always do that." "Just kidding, Kero. I remember." "Well, what was it about?" "I heard a little girl's voice. She was telling me something, but... all I can remember is by the moonlight and across the sky." "Hm... I don't know about the across the sky part, but I have a feeling that the moonlight has something to do with Yue." Sakura shrugged. "It could be, Kero, but... Syaoran was in it." "Aww, no. Not that Chinese gaki!" "Kero! He could be in danger, and if it has something to do with Syaoran, it has to do something with magic or Clow Reed." "Hm... that's true." "Sakura, breakfast is ready!!" "Come down already, you monster!" "Coming! We'll talk later, Kero." "Can you bring me something to eat? I'm starving." "Sure thing."
*-**-**-**-**-**-**-*
"Good morning, Syaoran! Syaoran? What's wrong?" "It's nothing, mother. I just had a strange dream. That's all." "Hurry and eat your breakfast. The only reason that I let you sleep until 10:30 today is because you'll be staying up all night for the ceremony." "Wha! 10:30!!! Oh no! Mother, you didn't!" "Don't worry about it. Your training has been moved to a later time. Oh yes, I forgot to inform you; you'll be having a student to train. She is very excellent and very mobile. She has asked for your training so I have decided to agree." "Mother, this isn't about my wedding plans, is it?" "I really don't like you hanging around that Japanese girl. She's not of a pure Clow Reed clan, and even if she has the cards, this is still family tradition. Your age difference may be different compared to your student, but you might find an interest in her. Her blood is of pure Clow Reed, and her magic powers are significant. Just say that you'll train her. I never said you have to have interest in her. Just do her the favor and train her."
*~*
"So did she break the news?" "Yeah." "Too bad, Li." Meilin whispered to Syaoran. "I met her actually. She's cute. She reminds me of you alot too. She's quiet, strong, and considerate of others, but... there's one thing that bothers me about her." "What is it?" "She always has on a sad or serious expression no matter what. I've never seen her smile at all. I feel so sorry for her." Syaoran sighed. "It's gonna be one long day."
*-**-**-**-**-**-**-*
"Good morning, Tomoyo!" "Good morning, Sakura. Are you enjoying your day today?" "Almost. I had another dream." "That one again." Sakura nodded. "It's the same one, but this time I saw Syaoran." "Do you think he's alright?" "I'm not sure. I'll call him after I finish getting the groceries."
*~*
"All done, I see." "Yukito!" "I just came over for a visit considering it's summer break now." "Touya's up in his room." "Thanks. I'll talk to ya later." "Sure." Sakura put the groceries away and went up into her room. "Hey, did you get me something?" "Here, Kero." "A whole six packs of chocolate pudding!!!" "Shh, keep it down or else Touya might hear you." "Sure, sure, so now can I have the pudding?" "Only if you promise to stay quiet during my phone call." "Alright, I promise." Kero was already through with one of the packs of pudding by the time Syaoran picked up the phone. "Hello?" "Hello? Syaoran, is that you? It's me, Sakura!"
*-**-**-**-**-**-**-*
"Hello? Syaoran, is that you? It's me, Sakura!" Syaoran blushed wildly at hearing that. "Umm... yeah, its me. What is it?" "Oh good. You're safe." "What? What do you mean?" "I had an awful dream." Sakura explained what she saw. "Hm... that's similar to my dream." "It is?" "How long have you had this vision?" "About two weeks ago. Why?" "That's around the same time that I had mine!" "What?" Someone stepped into the room. "What's going on, Syaoran-kun?" "Oh, um... hold on a second."
*-**-**-**-**-**-**-*
"What?" "What's wrong Sakura?" "Kero, I'm positive that I heard another girl's voice on the other line." "Huh?" "Hey, Sakura, I'll call you back okay. I'm sorry, but I have something to take care of, alright?" Sakura was silent. She didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry. Oh and by the way, check your email alright? Bye." <click> "..." Sakura stared into empty space. 'Was Syaoran... with another girl? Why didn't he tell me before that he already liked someone? What's going on?' "Earth to Sakura... are you there?" "Huh? Oh sorry about that, Kero." "Hey, look. If you're worried about the kid so much, why don't you just check your email and see what happens." "I'm not in the mood. Besides, what if it's bad news?" "Look, just go online and open up the mail. I'll read it and tell you if it's good news or bad news, k?" "K." Sakura did as she was told, and Kero scrolled the letter up and down. "Well, what is it?" Kero frowned. "It's bad news to me!" <gulp> Sakura got her box of tissues ready in case she had to cry. Slowly, but steadily she read the mail. "Sakura? Sakura..." Sakura had a shocked expression on her face. "I... I can't believe it... I forgot about Syaoran's birthday!! If I'm going to come over to his house for the ceremony, I'd better bring him a gift!" "Hold it!" Touya slammed open the door. Kero was hiding underneath Sakura's pillow. "You're not going anywhere near that Chinese gaki!" "Hey, look, Touya!" Yukito looked at the invitation. "Yukito! That's a private letter!" "I didn't scroll anywhere else, Sakura. Besides, look. It says that there's two tickets to Hong Kong." "Then, I'm coming along." "Touya, you still have your jobs. Do you want to be fired from all of them? <groan> "Why did you have to bring that up?" "I got it!" Sakura clasped her hands. "I'll bring Tomoyo!" <groan> 'I don't think I can trust her to separate the gaki from my sister.' "That's a great idea! See, Touya! If Tomoyo comes with her video camera, that should make Sakura not want to do anything rational with Syaoran." "Whatever. Just take care of yourself, monster." "Aww, thanks, Oniichan." Sakura sent an email saying that she and Tomoyo will be coming over.
*-**-**-**-**-**-**-*
"Sorry about the interruption." "It's alright. I understand." "Shall we continue?" "Hai." Syaoran led his new student through her exercises, and taught her some moves. "Alright. Now we'll train you against someone who's strength is similar to mine. Meilin." "Coming, Syaoran." "Kinai, this is Meilin, my cousin." "Nice to meet you again, Kinai." Kinai just bowed without saying a word. Meilin bowed also and got ready in a fighting stance. Neither of them moved a muscle, until Meilin got tired of waiting. Meilin charged at her with a kick and a twirl, but Kinai just repeled her attacks and then struck with a flip and a kick of her own that sent Meilin flying. "She's good... too good..." "Meilin?" Syaoran was too stunned to say a word. Kinai ran to her side and aided her with medical treatment to arouse her. Meilin awoke to face Kinai's eyes that told her, 'I'm sorry. Are you alright?' Meilin smiled back at her and flipped back on her feet. "You're pretty good." Kinai bowed at the compliment and then walked off. "Are you alright, Meilin?" "I'm fine. Kinai's a good fighter and a good nurse too. I feel as though nothing ever happened." "Phew." "Li, it seemed as though she was holding back." "What? After all that?' "I know it seems hard to believe, but the way she just repeled me, it told me that she wasn't going to give it her best. She didn't want to hurt me. She has a golden heart, just like Sakura." "I know, Meilin. I know."

A/N: Immense power, mortal danger, visions and dreams? Boy, I think I've said too much in the first chapter. Oh well. I opened my mouth and there it is. Okay. Well, I'll just sit back and see if you really want the next chapter or not. Review please. -_~
