House Hunting
Newspapers all over the floor. House hunting started today. Sakura looked at the first paper.
“How about this one?” she asked. Syaoran looked on with her.
“Hm, maybe,” he said. “Keep in mind about our budget.”
“Right,” she said. He slid a paper to her.
“How about this one?” Syaoran offered. Sakura looked with him.
“Is it big enough?” she asked. Syaoran looked at the ad again.
“It says each room is six mats,” he read.
“Can we afford it?” Sakura asked.
“If we saved up now,” he said. Syaoran counted down the months on his fingers for a moment.
“Five years at least…” he said. Sakura frowned.
“Think we should rent instead?” she asked.
“Yeah,” Syaoran agreed. They looked through the papers again.
“We should write down our picks,” Sakura said.
“Right,” her baby daddy said. “Hang on.” Syaoran got out and went into the kitchen. He came back with a notepad and pen. The search began again.
“Ooo, here's a good one,” Sakura said.
“Let me see,” Syaoran said. She showed him the ad. He made a face.
“You sure we can afford the rent?” he asked. “We still need money for the baby.”
“Well, what do you want?” she asked.
“A place near a daycare,” he said. “Something in our price range.”
“Near family?” Sakura asked.
“But not too near.” Syaoran looked at Sakura. “What about you? What do you want?”
“Well,” Sakura said. “I want to be near Toya, Yukito, dad, and Meiling. I also want to live near a daycare center.”
“Don't forget our jobs,” Syaoran pointed out.
“Oh yeah. That's right,” she said. The mother-to-be paused. “An apartment, then?” Syaoran shrugged.
“Do you really want that?” he asked. His child's mother bit her lower lip.
“Well…” she said. He gently held her hand. Sakura looked into his eyes.
“Easy now,” Syaoran eased over. “It's only February. We still have time to find a place.”
“I know, but I want to move out before summer,” she said.
“We will,” Syaoran replied. “It's only the first day.” Sakura took a brief moment, then she nodded.
“Okay,” the woman said.
“Very good,” her child's father replied. He picked up another paper.
“Better pick a quiet place if we do end up in an apartment,” Syaoran said.
“Right,” Sakura agreed with a nod. The search began again.
By lunch, they found eight potential places. Heh, not bad for round one in day one.
