Early Morning Bliss

Syaoran couldn't sleep this morning. The sun hadn't even come up yet. His eyes trailed down beside him. Sakura looked so angelic sleeping next to him. He brushed the hair from her forehead.

“I love you,” he whispered. The ring sat on his dresser. He didn't have an answer yet. Syaoran hoped she would say yes. However, there were other plans needed. Syaoran lied back in bed.

Where will we live? What kind of wedding does she want? Will she even say yes? He drew his eyes closed. Thinking about this gave him more excited chills. We're going to be parents! In truth, it shocked him in the beginning. He battled to adjust with the sudden change. Syaoran wanted the chance to start a relationship with Sakura, but hadn't expected it to go in this direction yet. The shock's worn off now. He keeps counting down to the due date. Still, they weren't prepared. Too many things distracted them.

He and Sakura battled to keep up with work and spending time together. Phone calls didn't do it anymore. Plus, the couple felt like they overstayed their welcome in Meilin's house. Syaoran smiled to himself.

I bet she's sick of seeing us here, he thought. He happened to look over at the clock. The man lifted his head puzzled.

What? Six in the morning already? How long have I been up? I have to work in two hours. Syaoran shook his head. I have too much on my mind. His eyes trailed to the ceiling. What now? He glanced downwards when he felt movement next to him. Sakura rolled over, awake. Syaoran couldn't help but smile at her.

“Good morning,” he whispered. Sakura's green eyes met Syaoran's brown ones.

“You're up early?” she asked. He nodded at her as if in thought.

“Yes, I guess I am,” the man said. She gave him a rather puzzled look.

“Something on your mind?” Sakura asked. He shook his head.

“Not really,” the man answered. “When do you have to go to work?”

“At eight,” Sakura answered. “Why?” Syaoran smiled as he brushed aside her bangs from her forehead.

“Nothing special,” he said. “We can just stay here in bed together a little bit longer and do nothing. How does that sound?” Sakura gave him a warm smile.

“Good,” she answered. Syaoran leaned down and gave her a little kiss on her lips. Somehow, this peace seemed fitting for the days before Japan's disaster.
