Chapter 3

Sakura scowled and tried to concentrate on what the teacher was explaining to the class from the front of the room. She was acutely aware of Syaoran sitting directly behind her. It gave her a strange sense of déjà vu…a feeling she was sadly becoming increasingly familiar with as of late. Predictably, Tomoyo had been delighted to discover that Li Syaoran and Li Meilin had transferred to their school…again. Sakura, however, was suspicious. She hadn't forgotten yet that it had been Syaoran who'd given her the Book of Hentai, even if it had been an accident as he professed to it be. What she'd like to know, above and beyond anything else at the moment, was what he was doing with it in his possession in the first place.

She glanced towards the clock and suppressed a sigh of relief. Only three more minutes and her last class of the day would be over. She was looking forward to the end of the day with mixed feelings. She was thankful that she wouldn't have to try to focus her mind on school work while it was trying to run off in what felt like a thousand different directions…yet at the same time, she was dreading having to explain to Tomoyo what had happened the previous night. As much as she'd like to keep her friend in the dark she knew that she couldn't. Tomoyo was a shrewd and intelligent young woman…she'd figure it out eventually on her own and Sakura didn't want to hurt her feelings by not confiding in her now.

The class was dismissed and she automatically stuffed her books into her book bag after standing and stretching her cramped muscles. She glanced from the corner of her eye over to where Tomoyo stood chatting animatedly with Meilin and sighed. She looked towards Syaoran only to find his gaze on her already. She blushed and hurriedly finished packing her bag. "Um…" She began hesitantly glancing at the boy standing beside his desk.

"We need to talk." He stated shortly before turning abruptly for the door.

"Y-yes…okay…" Sakura followed him reluctantly, knowing that she was about to be lectured…again. She grimaced and shook her head. She still maintained that it hadn't been her fault that the Book of Hentai had been opened. Meilin and Tomoyo followed behind her. Meilin wore an expression of mixed disapproval and worry while Tomoyo merely looked confused.

Once outside, the four high school students moved by unspoken agreement towards some benches set up just to the left of the entrance gate. Tomoyo sat slowly and looked from Syaoran to Sakura and back again. "What's happened?" She finally asked softly, concern colouring her soft tone.

Sakura cleared her throat and reluctantly turned towards her best friend. "Um…Tomoyo-chan…" She could feel a blush rising into her face. "Well…remember that dream I told you about?"

"Yes, of course…the one with the strange book. It was titled 'The Hentai', wasn't it?" She peered intently at the other girls flushed face. "Oh dear." She leaned back on the bench and shook her head. "You opened it, didn't you, Sakura-chan." Her friend nodded, expression revealing her misery. Tomoyo shrugged and smiled brightly. "Oh well. I'm sure you'll do fine in capturing the cards, Sakura-chan. And I'll be sure to create absolutely lovely costumes for you to wear while you do!" She jumped to her feet, hands clasped tightly together before her and tilted her head to the side, a wide smile gracing her delicate features. "I'm so excited! I get to record Sakura-chan and her bravery again! I'm so happy!"

"U-um…T-Tomoyo-chan…" Sakura sighed, shoulders slumping in defeat. "Never mind." She knew from past experience that there was no way to dissuade her friend when she was intent on a set course…especially if it involved either taking photographs of Sakura or video taping her. Drawing in a deep fortifying breath she turned her attention back to Syaoran. Frowning, she tried to place what she felt was different about him. Of course, he was taller and older, but there was more to it than that. It was almost as if there was something…missing. That's it! There's something missing from Syaoran's aura! "Syaoran-kun…are you all right?"

Shifting uncomfortably under her scrutiny he shrugged. "Yeah. Why?" He didn't really want to burden her with his most recent troubles. After all, it was his problem, not hers. He backed up a step when she approached him frowning thoughtfully. Could she know? Can she sense what happened? He hoped that wasn't the case. He hadn't told anyone about his little 'problem' as of yet and he certainly didn't want Sakura knowing about it. He looked away and stared sightlessly at the ground, expression deeply troubled in an unguarded moment. Especially not Sakura.

Sakura bit her lip in concern as she watched the strange emotions playing across her friend's features. Something was very wrong, she just knew it, but unfortunately she couldn't help Syaoran unless he confided in her. Knowing him, he won't say a thing and will continue to suffer alone. Her brows drew together into a determined frown. Whether he likes it or not I'm going to help him no matter what! Turning to face her other two friends she approached them swiftly. "Meilin-chan…" She began slowly, her tone filled with the strength of purpose.

Meilin backed up a step quickly, uncertain as to what could have caused such a strange expression to cross the other girl's features. "Eh? What?" She backed up another step as Sakura advanced on her. "K-Kinomoto-san…wh-what do…"

"What's wrong with Syaoran-kun?" She advanced on the surprised girl relentlessly. "You wouldn't hide it from me, would you, Meilin-chan?"

Meilin cast an almost desperate look in her ex-fiancé's direction before turning her gaze back to the girl still closing in on her. She was beginning to feel more than a little trapped by the situation. "I-I…" She paused and suddenly scowled, drawing herself up to her full height. "I don't know what you're talking about, Kinomoto-san."

Sakura sighed and shook her head. "Fine. Don't tell me." She turned away and suddenly stopped with a gasp. She looked towards Syaoran, but his expression hadn't changed. It couldn't be just my imagination. I know I felt something just now…

Tomoyo frowned and shifted uncomfortably on the bench. She raised a hand and fanned her suddenly flushed face. She felt very strange suddenly. She shifted again and looked towards her friends with a faint blush and shifted once again as her feeling of discomfort grew. A sudden shiver of heightened sensitivity assailed her and she fought against the urge to loosen the tight confines of her clothing. "U-um…" She began slowly, amazed at how husky her voice sounded in her own ears. "S-Sakura-chan…" She stood slowly, as if against her own volition, and, with wide eyes, found herself slowly approaching Syaoran. To her, it felt almost as if her movements were being controlled by some outside influence, like her body had become a mere puppet and someone else held the strings. "L-Li-kun…" She whispered softly as she closed the distance.

Syaoran looked at Tomoyo with an expression of surprise that quickly changed to shock followed by acute discomfort. "D-Daidouji-san?" He backed away slowly, but her advance didn't halt. As heightened colour quickly rushed into his face he considered a swift retreat to be his best option. However, before he could implement his plan, Tomoyo launched herself at him. "H-hey!" His startled shout drew the attention of the other two girls, much to his dismay.

Sakura stared in disbelief as her best friend pressed herself against Syaoran suggestively. "T-Tomoyo-chan?" She whispered softly, hurt evident in her green gaze. She couldn't believe Tomoyo would betray her like this. Tomoyo had known how she felt about Li Syaoran from before she even realized it herself.

"Daidouji-san! What are you doing?!" Meilin's incredulous shout drew Sakura out of her horrified stupor.

Tomoyo pressed closer and rubbed herself against the red-faced boy and moaned softly as she fumbled with the buttons on his uniform jacket, her usually nimble fingers clumsy in her haste. She didn't know what had suddenly come over her, but for some strange reason she couldn't seem to stop herself or control her actions. Lifting tear-filled blue eyes to his gaze, she stood on tiptoe and pressed her lips to his. No! This isn't right! What's wrong with me?!

Feeling his face heating even further, Syaoran tried to disentangle himself from Tomoyo's embrace and turned his head to avoid her lips again. His gaze fell on the Cardcaptor who was currently staring at him as if he'd suddenly sprouted horns. "S-Sakura!" He gasped, trying unsuccessfully to push Tomoyo away from himself and put some distance between them.

"Syaoran-kun…" Sakura whispered his name tearfully before shaking her head sharply. Something wasn't right about this situation. Syaoran looked almost desperate to get away from Tomoyo. When the two engaged in the impromptu embrace turned and she was able to get a good look at her friend's face, she knew for a fact that something was very wrong. Tomoyo had tears in her eyes that spilled over to fall down her flushed cheeks. "T-Tomoyo-chan!" Now she understood what was happening. That strange feeling she'd had moments before her friend's sudden strange behavior made absolute sense now. "I-it's an H-Hentai Card!" She shouted as she reached for the Pocket Rocket™ hidden in her uniform pocket.
