The Shadow Cards

Chapter 3:

Reincarnations

Ayaka Yamamoto awoke form her dream with a start. Weird…I wonder who the two other teenagers were… Yaki thought as she thought back to the dream.

She had seen it through the eyes of the sorceress, Kaguya, she guessed and watched as she saw another teenaged boy with silver hair die. But that hadn't awakened her.

Seeing the other being and being stabbed woke her up. Yaki closed her eyes as she remembered the handsome male. He looked like an angel with very majestic wings. In her dream, the person she was seemed to have an interest in him.

Yaki sighed and checked her alarm clock. She widened her eyes in shock as her eyes fell upon what time it was. AH! It's 7:10! I'm going to be late for a school I haven't even started yet!

Yaki rushed to her bathroom and hastily slipped on her school uniform. She shoved a brush through her hair and shoved her shoes on.

"Morning Mom, Dad." Yaki blurted as she grabbed a piece of toast and rushed out the door.

Yaki slammed the front door to her house close only to ram into someone. On the ground, Yaki found herself face to face with the cutest guy she had ever seen in her whole life standing above her.

He looked seventeen, like she was, and had on a Tomeda (Sorry, can't remember the name of the high school) school uniform on.

"Here, let me help you up." The boy offered his hand, which Yaki took.

"Domo arigatou!" Yaki thanked the boy and dusted herself off. As she got another look at him, she found he looked familiar.

"Your welcome! Hey, you go to Tomeda high, don't you?" He asked. Yaki nodded timidly. The boy chuckled and ran a hand through his dark silver hair.

Yukito smiled his usual cheerful smile and waved her good day. "Maybe I'll see you in school! What's you name?" His heart strangely skipped a beat when the girl smiled and waved back. "It's Ayaka Yamamoto!"

Yaki felt warmth throughout her body as she waved. "It's Yukito!" Yaki nodded and walked to the house next to hers.

She rolled her eyes as she saw a sleeping figure in the opened second story window. Yaki rummaged through her book bag and found her favorite hacky sack and smirked at the window.

She took aim and threw the hacky sack. She giggled as it hit the sleeping figure. The figure shrieked and fell off the bed, cursing the hacky sack.

Yaki rolled her eyes and fought the urge to giggle as she saw the image squeal when she looked at the alarm clock.

Yaki glanced at her watch and counted to five before going to the door. She rolled her eyes as she heard a crash come from the stairs.

"BYE MOM!!" Suzuki shouted as she ran for the door. She was so concerned with the time she didn't see her best friend, Yaki standing there.

"Yaki! Did you throw your hacky sack into my window." Suki asked, waving a hacky sack in front of her neat yet tomboyish brunette friend.

Yaki battered her eyelids in the most innocent way she could. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Suki rolled her eyes and giggled. Only Yaki was capable of pranks like this. Suki ran a hand through her golden hair and checked her watch.

"Oh no!" she gasped.

"What is it?" Yaki asked, gasping for breath as she followed Suki who was running like there was no tomorrow.

"It's 7:30! If we don't hurry up, we'll be SUPER late!!!" Suki ran as fast as she could to their new high school.

Yaki stopped dead in front of the principal's office, leaning on Suki as she tried to catch her breath. "Is this the place?" She asked between breaths.

Suki nodded and turned the knob of the office. She stepped inside to see a western office. In the middle of the office was a chestnut desk.

Yaki glanced at the principal's chair and saw that the principal was waiting for them.

The late bell rang just as Yukito had a seat at his first period class. As usual, he found it hard to concentrate all first period. He never really understood Math.

Yukito gathered his things as he heard the dismissal bell, thankful he would be in a class with his best friend, Touya.

Yukito walked next door and plopped down in his seat next to Touya. He glanced over at his best friend who seemed deep in thought. "What's up, Toya?" Yukito asked, waving a hand in front of Touya's fazed out face.

Touya popped out of his usual daydream and ran a hand through his untamed dark black hair, barley noticing his friend trying to get his attention. "Yeah, Yuki?" Touya asked, his voice noting how tired he was for he had stayed up very late doing his homework.

"What are you thinking about? I haven't seen you this…fazed out before." Touya cast a sheepish grin to his friend.

"And you don't faze out?" Yukito threw him a "haw-haw" look as the teacher came into the class.

The English sensei, Takeda Anya, took a minute to straighten her suite dress and fix her `perfect' blonde hair before she bothered to introduce the new students.

"Girls and boys, settle down. I would like to introduce you to your new classmates. Yamamoto Ayaka and Murakami Suzuki." She peeked to the door as two girls walked in.

Yukito's eyes widened as he recognized one of the girls as the one he'd met earlier.

Sensei Takeda turned to the new girls and directed them to a seat. "Miss Yamamoto, you may take a seat next to Yukito." Yukito smiled at Yaki as she made her way to the empty seat next to him.

Touya's eyes widened as he studied the second girl that had to be Suzuki. To Touya, this girl was perfect. He loved the way she had her red hair up in two pigtails and how her school uniform fit her figure very well.

"Kinomoto Touya, please raise your hand so Miss Murakami can see who you are." Touya raised his hand and his insides twisted as he saw the cute girl walk towards him and take that seat that was next to him.

Suki stared at her desk until Touya decided to break the silence. "I'm Touya Kinomoto, it's nice to meet you." Touya whispered, holding out his hand.

Suki turned and smiled at the kind gesture the handsome boy gave to her. "It's nice to meet you, Kinomoto-san, I'm Suzuki Murakami." Suki took the handshake and took out her English book.

"So, I didn't think you'd be in any of my classes." Yukito whispered to Yaki.

Yaki smiled back as she opened her textbook. "I missed my first class. It's Accelerated Calculus."

If Yukito had been eating something, he was sure he would've choked on it. "Your in Accelerated CALCULUS??" He whispered, the surprise clear in his voice.

Yaki shrugged. "It's not that great. I was higher than that back in the states." Yukito could hardly believe his luck. To him, this girl was perfect.

Not only could he ask her for help in Math if she was willing to give it, she had lived in the states! Yukito had longed to travel to the United States ever since he studied about it.

Since the girl was new to school, Yukito automatically assumed she didn't have anyone to hang out with besides the other girl.

"Hey, did you want to eat lunch with my friend Touya and me?" Yukito asked, crossing his fingers that she would say yes.

Yaki smiled and nodded. "But only if my friend Suki can join us." Yukito returned Suki's smile and nod as the lesson began.

Sakura Kinomoto was not having a very good day. Tomoyo was out with the flu and Syaoran had an in-class suspension for fighting. The only ones she could talk to and hang out with was Eriol and Meling.

Sure, Eriol and Meiling were great, but Eriol was too serious and Meiling was too busy trying to keep her grades up. Now it was rare to see Meiling somewhere without a textbook.

Sakura glanced into the detention room and saw Syaoran trying to stay awake, similar to how she was feeling.

The lunch bell rang and Sakura wandered outside to her favorite Cherry blossom tree to eat her lunch.

Sakura sighed and glanced up at the detention room, which surely Syaoran hadn't been allowed to leave.

"Sakura-chan…" Sakura almost choked on an apple when she heard Eriol's voice behind her.

She turned to see the young magician and saw he was, as always, wearing a serious expression on his face.

"Yes, Eriol-kun?" Sakura asked, taking another bite of the apple.

"Can you sense it?" Eriol asked, as he sat down next to Sakura.

"Sense what, Eriol-kun?" Sakura asked, opening her drink and taking a sip from it.

"Sense the magical aura that has arrived." Eriol was gazing at the high school as the words left his mouth.

Sakura shook her head, but stopped as she felt three very strong magical auras.

"One of the auras has been with us for a while, but the other two I wonder about." Eriol said quietly as he took a bite of his sandwich.

Sakura shrugged as she finished her lunch, just in time for the bell.

"Yukito, when's lunch?" Yaki asked.

Yukito looked at the clock in time to hear a bell.

"Now." He answered.

Touya almost jumped from his seat as he heard the lunch bell. An idea hit him and he turned to Suki.

"Hey, Suki, do you want to eat lunch with me and Yukito?" He asked, twirling a pencil in his hand.

Suki paused for a moment to think. "Yeah, but I need to tell Yaki." She replied as the said person walked up to her.

Yukito flashed Touya a knowing grin as he let Yaki and Suki converse. Touya returned the grin, and gathered his things.

Yaki and Suki both followed the boys out the door and outside. The campus was busy with a lot of things- the high school jocks trying to show off, the popular girls pointing out the girls who didn't have the "right" make-up on and the nerds who were trying to study over all the noise.

Touya glanced behind him to find the girls still following him and Yukito. Touya went to a large cherry tree he and Yukito liked to hang out at and climbed one of the low branches.

Suki saw the branch and thought that it would be nice to sit next to Touya, so she tried to climb it, but her skirt made it impossible for her to get up there.

Touya saw Suki's distress and held out a hand to help her up. His heart beat slightly faster as Suki smiled at him and took his hand. From out of nowhere, Touya suddenly sensed a strange aura coming from somewhere. Touya just shook it off and began to eat his meal.

Down on the ground, Yukito and Yaki were already in a semi-deep conversation.

"So how long have you been in Japan so far?" Yukito asked, taking another large bit out of one of his sandwiches.

Yaki paused for a moment while she unwrapped her two sandwiches before she remembered. "Around two weeks. My father and mother died a little while ago and I was sent here to live with my aunt." She quirked as she took a bite of her sandwich.

Yukito slightly frowned. "I'm sorry. My parents died when I was very young and I live with my grandparents."

Yaki's eyes grew a little bit as she continued to eat. "I'm sorry too." She said, smiling sympathetically.

Yukito was about to say something when he felt an emotion come from Yue. It felt like disappointment. So, I live alone. She doesn't need to know the Yue. He felt Yue send him a shrug and concentrated on the conversation.

Touya finished his sandwich as he heard Suki give him a little detail about her life. "So, basically, the American school your parents were sending you to kicked you out because you got into a little too many fights and the only other school that would take you is Tomeda (anime_angel123: is that how you spell it??)?" He asked.

Suki nodded her head and jumped down from the branch. Touya grinned and mimicked Suki and landed right next to her.

Yaki got up from her place on the ground and dusted off her skirt before turning to Yukito. "When does lunch end, Yukito-kun?" Yaki asked, glad that in their first meeting Yaki could call him Yukito-kun.

Yukito glanced at his watch. "In about-"

"Well, well, if it isn't little cat and mouse." The voice made Yaki's eyes narrow with anger and resentment, this didn't go unnoticed by Yukito.

"What do you want, yarro?" Suki asked, turning around to see a boy and girl, both her age, the boy with flaming red hair and the girl with pure black hair.

"Aw, is that a way to greet old friends?" the girl asked, twirling her hair.

Yaki glared at the two teenagers, her anger not easy to hide. "If you think that someone who got you kicked out of your old school and made your father the laughingstock of the business world, then hello." She spat, remembering what Suki had told her what the two children did to ruin her father's business life.

The girl frowned and turned as if to leave. "Better watch how you speak to us or we'll have to ruin your lives even more." She spat and walked away, followed by the boy.

As the two left, Suki felt her anger go down and she turned back to Toya. "Sorry about that. I had a bad rep in my other school because of those two and my bad rep got is what got me expelled." Suki smiled and followed Touya and Yukito back to class.

Yaki stayed behind for a moment and gazed at the elementary school. Strange. She thought, her eyebrows creasing in thought. This felling…like there's magic coming from a person over there. Yaki shook her head and ran to catch up with Touya, Yukito and Suki.

>>>>>>><<<<<<<

"You sensed what?" Syaoran asked as he, Sakura and Eriol walked to Sakura's house.

Sakura was about to answer Syaoran, but was stopped as Eriol answered instead.

"We both sensed three auras in Tomeda High school. One has been here for quite some time and the others are very much new to Sakura-chan, but I believe I may have known them long ago.

Syaoran nodded his agreement as the three children stepped inside Sakura's large home, a surprise sitting on the couch.

"Tomoyo!" Sakura squealed, hugging Tomoyo as hard as she could.

"It's…nice…to…see…you…too, Sakura-chan." Tomoyo squeaked in between breaths.

Sakura let Tomoyo out of her death-hug as Eriol walked over to her and gave her a quick peck on the cheek, his eyes soft with love.

"I thought you said you weren't feeling well." Eriol stated, raising an eyebrow.

Tomoyo giggled and hugged Eriol. "I got better a few hours ago, but my mother said that's too late to go to school."

An idea popped into Sakura's head as she sat next to Syaoran on the couch. "I've got an idea, Eriol-kun!" She exclaimed.

Eriol turned to Sakura as he sat down next to Tomoyo. "What is it, Sakura-chan?"

Sakura smiled and formulated her plan into words. "How about we go looking for the source of these auras. They might be a new power I can seal into a card."

Eriol nodded his head in agreement. "That is a very good idea indeed, Sakura-chan."

"Hey! What are you guys talking about without me this time?" a small lion-shaped animal with wings shouted as it flew into the room.

Syaoran's eyes narrowed as the being known a Kero made his way over to Sakura.

"No one invited you, you stuffed toy." Syaoran retorted, amused at the reaction he got out of the said `stuffed toy'.

"I am NOT a toy, kid!" Karo shouted.

The sound of the door opening caused Kero to sweat drop and sit on the couch and look like a regular stuffed toy.

"Hey, squirt, I'm home!" came the oh-so-familiar voice of Touya.

Sakura rushed to the door and stopped dead at the scene that greeted her eyes. Not only was Touya and Yukito there, so were two other girls and three extremely strong auras other than Yue.

"Hey, Sakura. This is Ayaka Yamamoto and this is Suzuki Murakami. They're new in Tomeda." Touya said as the said girls smiled.

"Hello, how are you?" Sakura asked, bowing to each girl.

Yukito paused in the middle of a smiled as he felt Yue try to tell him something. He probably wants to talk to Sakura. "Hey, Touya, why don't you show Yaki and Suki around for a little while. I need to have a word with Sakura." Touya flashed Yukito a knowing look and went out the door, the girls following him.

"Does Yue want to speak with me?" Sakura asked, titling her head as the door closed.

"I'm not sure. He wants to talk to talk to Eriol, though." Yukito said as he glanced at the said boy.

Eriol nodded and Yukito was surrounded by a mystical light, a pair of wings folding around him.

A few moments later, the majestic Yue stood before the four children, a more serious than usual look on his face.

"What is it, Yue?" Sakura asked, fiddling with her Star key.

Yue turned to Eriol, his mind clattered, but words formed in his throat.

"Eriol-sama…Kaguya, Yuna and Shihiro… Do those names spark anything in your mind?" Yue asked.

Eriol closed his eyes and allowed himself to drown in thought and concentration. The more he concentrated, the clearer three images came to his mind.

(anime_angel123: I didn't know how this whole thing would work, so bear with me, I don't know how Eriol would see them so I'm going with the whole person being possessed by powerful being thing)

Suddenly, Eriol spoke with a voice that wasn't his own. "Kaguya and Shihiro…my children. They got along very well. Almost quite the opposite, but they agreed on most things. Yuna…carries your traits, Yue, but she is more innocent. You, Keroberos (anime_angel123: I'm using his English name because I can't remember his Japanese name) and Yuna were the guardians I created to protect both myself and my children." Yue crossed his arms as he heard Eriol speak as Clow Reed.

Eriol continued. "My daughter is the soul owner and Master of the Shadow Cards, out of all the power Kaguya holds, some of her power was too much for her to handle so she sealed most of her power away in cards such as I did to the magic I created. Shihiro helps his sister capture some rebellious power that escapes from their card forms. I originally created Yuna and Yue to be the guardians of the Shadow Cards, both of them being of the moon and most of the Shadow Cards contribute to the moon."

Sakura nodded, taking in all the information she was being given.

"I believe that the reincarnations of my daughter, son and Yuna may be here and we just don't know who they are. Before they died, they gathered all their powers and made sure they stayed on Earth as ghosts until they found their reincarnations. Then they will revive the memories of their life and take over their reincarnations." As Eriol finished he had a sip of water to revive his throat from that long speech.

The door opened and Touya came into the front room. "I'll be in my room." He said as he rushed upstairs.

"So what happens to the reincarnations?" Sakura asked.

Eriol narrowed his eyes on his magical key as he spoke. "I don't know, we just have to find them before they do."

"Who?" Syaoran and Tomoyo asked.

"Pyro and Centra." Yue spat.

Eriol nodded and jumped at the sound of a high-pitched squeal and a small scream.
