Urooboe: Faint Memories…

By: Kikakai

Rated: PG-13 [For angst]

Genre: Romance/tragic

'I love you so much why did you have to go?" a man said to no one in particular as she stared blankly at a tombstone. A tear glide down his face as he slowly traced the engraved words

"Sakura Kinomoto

1981-2003

She was a heartfelt child who reaches many's heart…

-Rest in Peace Sakura…"

The man slowly placed the flowers near the tombstone as he stood up and walked away. His figure slowly disappearing from sight, leave two single drops of tears at the grave. He remembered her perfectly, her smile, her laugh, her face and mostly her emerald green eyes. As he remembers those things, memories came back, the memories of his precious Cherry Blossom…

"Syaoran!" someone yelled

Syaoran looked back to see Sakura running after him, he smiled and said, "Hey, what's the rush? Don't run, you have all day long."

Sakura smiled at how sincere her friend was to her, but than frowned again remembering what she wanted to tell him. "I need to talk to you after school today, that's like in…" she looks at her pink Hello Kitty watch, "Um…2 hours; I will meet you at PenguinParkalright?"

"Anything for you sweetie now get to class before you are late again." Syaoran stated and kissed Sakura before he walked to the bathroom

Sakura nodded and proceed to class…

The day went on as usual but many thoughts ran through Sakura's mind as she thought of the thing she is about to tell him. Her mind kept going back and forth. Was he going to reject her? What would his reaction be? I mean he might change his reaction toward her. She is different, unlike most healthy kids. She has had problems ever since she was a baby. She had breathing difficulties, rash problems, athletic problems, and many more. She wasn't like any normal college student that is in love. She was different, she is ill.

To come and think of it, she is very lucky to have a boyfriend like Syaoran, he was sweet, caring and supporting. He didn't really care about how her health is; he cared about what her personality was and only that.

*~PenguinPark~*

Sakura swing back and forth on the swing as she waited for Syaoran's arrival.

What will he think? Will he reject me knowing that I can't be there for him anymore?

But suddenly someone came behind her swing, put an arm around her waist and covered her eye. Sakura tensed up a bit feeling a person's presence but than relaxed realizing who it was…

"Guess who?" the mysterious person said

Sakura smiled and leaned against his body, "Syaoran, you made it," she said as he removed his hands from her eyes letting her see, "I thought you weren't going to come…"

"Of course I would." Syaoran answered and pushed the swing into the summer sky

"Syaoran, I wanted you to come here because I have some things to tell you." Sakura's voice was beginning to lower down

"What is it?" he asked continuing to push the swing

Sakura set her eyes on the ground and tried to hold back the tears. It's now or never…

"I have leukemia." Sakura's voice echoed through the park, Syaoran stiffened, "Wh…what?" Syaoran stammered

Sakura honestly didn't want to repeat the phrase, every time she says it; it rips a part of her heart…

"I have leukemia."

Syaoran's world came apart.

"You're kidding right?" he asked with hope in his eyes, never in his mind have he ever thought that Sakura Kinomoto. A normal school girl, a SWEET and normal school girl to have such a treacherous disease.

Sakura shook her head sadly than said, "No, I just found out yesterday. When I fainted, I was sent to the ER and than they gave me the results. They said that I have leukemia."

"Isn't there a cure for that?"

"Yes, but they found out about mine too late, so, they said that I have about 2 more years to go…" she shed tears as she spoke

Syaoran hugged her as she sobbed in his arms. "And you know what? The next two years, they'll be the happiest moments in your life."

A few days later, Syaoran proposed to Sakura in a complete surprise.

"Sakura, I love you and you love me. You don't have much time left; I want to spend every moment of the life you have left with you."

Sakura nodded and the following week their lives were joined together at the alter; where they made the promise to remain faithful to each other until death did them part.

Two years passed, they spend every waking minute with each other, and it was like heaven to them. But as days passed Sakura became weaker and weaker, and more tired than ever. They both dropped out of school because of Sakura being sick, and Syaoran wanting to take care of her. But even though with the acute care of Syaoran, Sakura is still slowly dieing…until one faithful day where all her suffering from the sickness ends…

Sakura lies on her bed weakly, barley able to keep her eyes from closing and entering a new world where angels and saints were.

"Sakura hold on, I just called the Ambulance, they are coming. Hold on for me! For your family!" Syaoran begged her to stay

Sakura shook her head with all the energy that took her and said, "Syaoran you can't lie to destiny, if fates wants to take me than so be it. But I just to keep in mind that I will always love you, and that you and only you will be in my heart forever…"

And with that using her last breath she went away, into a world beyond the stars, in a world where angels soar high above the clouds.

"Sakura…no…no…" Syaoran shook his head in a furious manner denying himself of his wife's death. "No, you promise you would never leave me, you promised Sakura…"

Syaoran held on tight to Sakura's no limp and soulless body, tears glided down from his eyes, to his face than finally to Sakura's body.

Sakura was buried about a week after her death; everyone in the town of Tomoedawas in depression. The girl they loved the girl that was bright was no more. The coffins slowly lowered into the soil of the Earth, where Sakura's final resting place would be. Everyone looked at Sakura's tombstone as they remember her in many ways. The rain started to fall, as the black-dressed people left the grave. Except for Syaoran, he stood there in the rain, staring at her tombstone. Remembering her, all the times they've spent together, was now going to be in his heart forever.

The thought was interrupted by Yelan as she covered her son with a black umbrella, "Syaoran, you will meet her again someday. But right now you need to look forward to your future and not dwell on your past. I know that's what Sakura would wish you to do."

Syaoran stood up and looked at his mother, and then he did something unexpected to all the people. He hugged her, "Mother, I can't believe I lost her, I wasn't able to save her!"

Yelan felt sympathy toward her son and patted his head. She looked at the now wet tombstone and she said, "One day you will meet again…"

Syaoran remembered the event clearly, he never moved on. She will always be in his heart. Just you wait Sakura we will meet again when the right time comes.

"I love you…" Syaoran said as he drove away from the grave and into the streets of Hong Kong China, where it was crammed with people waiting for him, waiting for him to lead a bright future. And until the day they meet again, he will just have to live on with his life and cherish what his got. After all he can't afford to lose anything anymore.

And back at the prairie where the wind still blows and where the cherry blossom still flows. A slightly transparent figure sat on a tombstone in a white gown, hallow, and a pair of magnificent wings. She whispers the words that the wind would carry on, the words that would linger in her heart forever...

"I love you too...."
