Where Love Blooms- Taking Away The One You Love

Over the next week things got worse, Sakura got various phone calls from the local hospital in Tomeda, Touya was in hospital, as was Yukito. Chicharu was ill, Yamazaki had fainted in the middle of class, Rika had gotten into an accident with a bike on her way home and Naraku and Spinel had suddenly disappeared. With each call Sakura got worse and worse and all Syaoran could do was watch.

The pair silently made their way to Hiiragawza mansion for the hundredth time that

Week, they had spent every waking minute in Eriol's library, scrolling for a possible reversal spell for anyone of their friends impediments. So far they hadn't even covered a quarter of the library yet, but hope was still bleak, how long would it take for two people to search through hundreds of thousands of books for a reversal spell in a language they barely even knew, and what if there was no reversal spell in the library? They would have wasted God knows how long to search for a spell that wasn't even there.

Syaoran silently watched Sakura out of the corner of his eye as he flipped through a thick, leather bound book. Sakura was turning the pages to a spell book slowly; she had bags under her eyes and seemed constantly wary. She was so pale that Syaoran was beginning to think he was going to be able to see right through her. To top it off she was so tired, she moved slowly and wearily, like she was going to collapse any minute.

Syaoran started to chew his lip worriedly; she would need her strength for when she confronted they're new enemy. He closed his book when did I finish that book? He was about to reach for another when a wave of dizziness hit him, he blinked and shook his head, must be tired.

Sakura shook her head vigorously trying to stay awake, she looked at the clock, 1:25AM still time for a little more work. She took at glance at Syaoran and smiled, he had fallen asleep his face propped in his arms using a book as a pillow. He looked so sweet with the light of a small candle nearby shining on his honey coloured locks. She reached forward, pushed away the brown hair off his face so that she could see his face, he was breathing evenly, and he looked pale.

Poor Syaoran, he's so busy helping me he hasn't been looking after himself well. Thank you so much Syaoran.

She shook the sleeping boy gently,

"Syaoran, wake up. We should go home and get some sleep."

Syaoran turned his face the other way,

"Sleep here," he mumbled sleepily, "Eriol won't mind…" he trailed of and started to breathe evenly again.

Sakura smiled and kissed him on the cheek,

"You're a genius you know, we won't have to walk here everyday."

She pulled Syaoran's arms and together they stumbled to the nearest bedrooms.

She pushed Syaoran lightly onto the velvet covered bed then climbed in after him, hugging him tightly and snuggling into his chest moving into the nearby heat source. Even though he was asleep Syaoran automatically placed his arms around her protectively. Sakura wiggled a little uncomfortable in her clothes, have to bring pyjamas tomorrow she mentally noted as she drifted off sleepily.

Sakura blinked blearily as sunlight invaded her sleep; it was the best sleep she'd had in weeks. She stretched lithely and yawned, she turned to her side searching for her heat source, namely Syaoran.

Sakura frowned slightly; eye still closed as she couldn't find him, where the hell was he? She snapped her eyes open in a huff, she was about to get off the bed to look for him when he slipped back in next her,

"Gomen[1] Sakura, I closed the curtains."

Sakura just sighed contentedly and slipped back to her dreams hoping for another hour's sleep. (A/N: Hah, you thought I he was hurt didn't you?)

Sakura blinked and frowned as she was roughly shaken form her slumber,

"Sakura, wake up!" said Syaoran's voice urgently. "It's 2:00PM, we've overslept!"

"Nani[2]!"

Sakura shot up and out of bed. Together they rushed down to the library hoping they hadn't missed too much searching time.

Just as they reached the downstairs corridor Syaoran lunged at Sakura flattening her,

"Syaoran what was tha-," Sakura stopped short as she saw a sword slice the air above where their heads had been moments before. The blade imbedded itself into the opposite wall, the started to shake as it tried to free itself.

Syaoran and Sakura quickly scrambled out of the way as the sword flew after them once again; Sakura winced as the sword left a thin cut on her arm. She pulled out her key whilst Syaoran called on his word,

"Fiery!" yelled Sakura,

Fire blazed and wrapped itself around the sword which was by now pulsating with a heavy black aura. The Fire cleared but the sword was no where to be seen,

"Huh?" said Sakura and Syaoran simultaneously.

The sword flew out of the shadows and aimed for Sakura's head, Syaoran saw and swung his own blade at it.

Metal clashed. Syaoran carried on parrying and delivering his own blows, it was like he was sparring with an invisible opponent, and this opponent was good. Syaoran felt sweat began to break out on his forehead, it ran down his face and into his eyes as he tried to concentrate on fighting as well as seeing clearly.

Sakura saw this and pulled another card out of her deck,

"Wood!" immediately long tendrils of wood and leaves reached out and twined around the dark blade.

All was still, a ball of plants was all that was seen. Syaoran sighed, lowered his sword and turned away. Just then the blade shot out of the ball of wood blazing black aura.

"Syaoran!"

Syaoran barely had to turn before his eyes widened and he stumbled back into the wall, Sakura watched in horror as the sword pierced clear through the front of Syaoran's abdomen and the tip rip trough flesh and bones to come out of his back pinning him the wall.

Syaoran watched blandly and reached to touch his blood-covered torso, he turned hauntingly empty gold eyes to Sakura.

"Syaoran.." Sakura whispered reaching out for him.

Syaoran smiled sadly at her, a small burst of his usual fiery attitude flared in his eyes before dimming again.

"I- I'm so sorry Sakura," he said as a thin line of blood ran down his chin.

A back hole seemed to appear behind Syaoran, black, shadowy arms grasped at his arms and legs pulling him backwards into the portal, there was a sickening hiss as Syaoran was pulled off the sword and into the hole.

Sakura watched in traumatised shock as the wall black portal closed in front of her leaving the sword still embedded in the wall with a spatter of blood around on it.

Suddenly the sword started to shake pulling out of the wall again, Sakura didn't care, if it killed her at least she would be with Syaoran, however instead the blade floated in front of the wall, then it started to scratch out onto the wall in Syaoran's blood,

Syaoran means much to you, ne?

You want him back don't you?

I wouldn't worry if I were you chibi[3],

Your precious little puppy is still alive.

Sakura blinked at the wall, her eyes blank, Syaoran was…alive? That sword was mocking her.

You might want to save the little wolf.

He's pining for you,

I'll come to you soon,

So you don't need to worry blossom,

Then you'll get your chance to save this little puppy.

Then if you fail, his pretty blood will be all mine,

As will your friends',

That little ice maiden, she was pretty, ne?

I might keep her in that crystal and keep her as an ornament.

Prepare yourself cherry blossom,

I'll see you.

With that the sword thumped soundlessly onto the carpeted floor, a pool of blood slowly growing where it lay as Syaoran's life fluid dripped off it.

Just then all that had happened in the last ten minutes caught up with Sakura and she slumped to the floor crying.

A/N:

Foxtails: Oh my God what did I do? I nearly killed Syaoran!

Yuriko: Calm down…

Foxtails: wailing Oh, I'm gonna go to hell for this!

Yuriko: o.O blinks I don't think it's that bad, I mean he isn't dead.

Foxtails: Cries and refuses to be consoled

Yuriko: shrugs and drags the wailing Fox off by her feet instead

[1] Gomen means sorry.

[2] Nani means what.

[3] Chibi means little, it's usually used quite teasingly in a nice way meaning little one from what I've seen, however it can be used quite rudely too meaning runt.
