Card Captor Sakura Fan Fiction ❯ Yukito's Little Secret ❯ The Purging ( Chapter 6 )
WARNING: Most of the fics out there have separate identities for Yukito and Yue. However, the case is different in this fic. I have merged the identities of Yukito/Yukino with Yue so they are one and the same. Sort of like Superman…Clark Kent by day, Superman by night (and during those impulsive occasions when he passes by a phone booth ^.^0). I hope you won't hold this against me. I am already having a hard time with the Yukito + Touya + Yukino love thingy so adding a Yue perspective would probably send me to the loony bin.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own CCS or any of its characters. CLAMP does. This plot is a product of my imagination. Any similarities to other fan fictions are unintentional.

Chapter 6
Syaoran followed Yukino's aura back to Seijou High School. She was leaning against a tree with her head down. He watched her lonely figure as the wind blew on her hair and skirt lightly. He thought that she looked really beautiful against the sinking sun. Feeling the familiar attraction he had to Yue's power, his cheeks started to burn.
After realizing that he was blushing, he shook his head furiously to get rid of the feeling. He was never in love with Yukito and he most certainly wouldn't fall in love with Yukino, even though they were the same person. Only one girl can claim his heart and that would be his cherry blossom.
"What's going on, Yukito?" Syaoran emphasized the name to tell the girl he had already guessed who she really was.
Blue met amber when Yukino finally raised her head and locked her gaze with the boy's. "Tell me, Li-kun, do you know what it is like to fall in love?"
His face instantly turned crimson red again at the question. Sakura's smiling face and emerald eyes flashed in his mind. At first he thought that Yukino had somehow read his mind earlier and was baiting him but the serious glint in her eyes told him that it wasn't so. Slowly he nodded, not taking his eyes off hers.
Yukino smiled at that. She was sure that it was the Card Mistress that invaded his heart. He might be young but his mind was mature for his age. He might be able to understand her predicament.
"Impossible as it may sound but I too fell in love. I am in love with Touya…my mistress' brother."
She watched shock come and go from his face. Once that he had digested that fact, she proceeded to tell him about her accidental wish that came true and Eriol's plans. By the time Yukino told him everything; they were sitting side-by-side and staring at the rising moon.
"There's one thing I don't understand though," he spoke for the first time since Yukino started to tell him her story, "how come you want to turn back into a boy when you're the one who wished to become a girl?"
"That wish was never meant to be taken seriously."
"Nevertheless, it was a serious wish. The stars never grant a being's wish unless they are heartfelt."
Yukino stared at Syaoran with a slightly open mouth. That was exactly what Eriol had said to her that first morning she turned into a girl. She looked down at her folded hands and searched for an answer.
"I made that wish only because I was scared that Touya would reject my love because I am a man. At least I was one back then. But when this happened, I realized how complicated our situation would be. I realized that I am not only worried that he would reject my love. Now I am also worried that he might think I'm some kind of a freak for making such a wish. The last thing I need is for him to laugh at me."
"I'm surprised you said that. I may not like Touya Kinomoto but there's one thing that I admire about him. It's the great love he has for his family and friends. I know for sure that he will never laugh at you."
For several minutes, the two sat in a comfortable silence. Yukino thought about what Syaoran had said. She knew that he was right but still her fear was too strong.
"The only thing I can advise you is to tell the truth to Touya and stop pretending. Lying is never a good idea especially in friendship."
"I can't tell him what happened to me without admitting my love for him."
"That's exactly my point. At least you'll know how he really feels about you. You won't have to worry anymore if he'll reject your love or not."
"That won't work. I mean, look at you. Didn't you tell Sakura-chan how you really felt about her? And isn't it true that she hasn't told you if she loves you back or not?"
"It's not the same," Syaoran frowned at her, his left eye twitching in irritation. "I am not waiting for a reply. I am content in knowing that she knows I love her."
"Yeah right," Yukino snorted. "Any sane person cannot be content with that. It is in the nature of humans to desire to be loved back by the one they hold dear."
"Besides," Yukino added as a solitary tear slid down her cheek, "I already know his answer. He told me earlier that he loves Yukito as a brother…nothing more, nothing less."
Silence permeated the air again as the two stared at the star filled sky.
Both of them contemplated their love for Touya and Sakura Kinomoto.
Both of them were aware that their hearts were breaking because of Touya and Sakura Kinomoto.

Two hours later, Yukino opened her apartment door tiredly. She had forgotten that she was staying here. Instead, she unconsciously wandered to the old house where she (or Yukito) stayed with her nonexistent grandparents. She had to backtrack her steps again until she reached her new home.
All throughout her walk, she thought about her conversation with Syaoran. She felt like a small load had been lifted from her chest. Now she had a confidante whom she trust would keep her secret safe. He had promised not to say a word about her true identity to Sakura. And she doubted that he'd be able to say anything to Touya, not that he would want to talk to Touya anyway.
She glanced down when she stepped on something. Littered on the hallway entrance were a couple of letters which she instantly knew came from Touya and Sakura. It was pre-arranged that all of her mails will be forwarded to her by Eriol and that her reply letters will be sent to England where Eriol would change the envelopes and mail them back to the Kinomotos.
It was a tedious task that had to be done. Yukino must reply to their letters so they wouldn't notice that something was amiss. Besides, these letters were her only connection to her past form…to Yukito.
She dropped her bag and sat on the floor then reached for the letters. She stared at them for a while before deciding to read Sakura's letter first. She slid her finger under the flap of the pink envelope then gently tore it open.
Dear Yukito-kun,
Hey there! How have you been? What have you been up to? Daidouji-san, Tomoyo-chan's mother, said that it is really cold there and is raining a lot. Don't forget to always bring an umbrella just in case. You wouldn't want to get sick in a foreign country. Not that I don't think Eriol-kun and Nakuru-chan can't take care of you if you did because I'm sure they can. It's just that I think…anou…I'm babbling nonsense, aren't I?
Yukino had to laugh. Even in her letters, Sakura can't seem to have a serious line of thought. She slowly read the letter, reading it word for word. She laughed several times when Sakura mentioned some things about their trip to Egypt, mostly about Touya's ridiculous teasing. Her face fell though as she reached the end of the letter.
I really hope that you are doing well there, Yukito-kun, and that what Eriol-kun is asking you to do is not too dangerous. I wish that you could tell me what it is but I won't pry. Perhaps when we see each other again, you can tell me all about it.
I miss you but I think 'niichan misses you more. He hasn't been himself ever since we got that call from Eriol-kun. And then we never got a chance to talk to you on the phone either. It would be really nice if you could call 'niichan so that he wouldn't worry about you much.
I have to go to sleep now. I still have a lot of homework to do before school starts. Hope you'll write back soon and take care!
Love, Sakura
PS. Don't tell 'niichan that I told you that he's been a grouch (well, more than usual that is).
She sighed as she folded the letter and tucked it in its envelope. Her heart ached at what she had read. It pained her that she has been lying to her mistress. And it pained her even more that Touya had been too affected at Yukito's 'disappearance'.
She let out another sigh as she reached for Touya's letter. She was about to open it when she heard the neighbor's dog barking like hell outside. Quickly, she pocketed Touya's letter and went to check out the commotion.
What she saw made her sweatdrop. At the gate of her apartment was Keroberos taunting the neighbor's bulldog.
"Come on, you ugly thing, think you can take me huh?" Kero said as he floated near the dog's face and punched the air in between them. The dog tried to bite the little sun guardian but fortunately for the dog his leash prevented him to move further. She didn't think that Kero would taste that good.
"Kero-chan!"
"Nani?" Kero stopped his taunting and glanced at her.
"What do you think you're doing? Someone might see you." She grabbed the other guardian by his wings and started to take him inside.
"Matte! I'm not through with that dog yet!" He struggled but when he couldn't budge from her grasp, he raised his fist and shouted at the mutt. "Don't expect to be lucky next time! No one threatens the great Keroberos!"
"Just because you're little doesn't mean you won't catch attention. In fact how do you suppose people would react if they saw a flying, cursing stuffed animal?" Yukino scolded as soon as they were inside.
"Probably not as shocked when they see you shouting at a flying, cursing stuffed animal. HEY! WHO ARE YOU CALLING A STUFFED ANIMAL?!" Kero floated cross-legged and cross-armed as he glared at her.
"What are you doing here anyway?" She brushed past him and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Kero flew past her when she opened her fridge. He zeroed in on the cake she had bought earlier.
"Eriol-sama asked me to check up on you," he said as he buried his paw and took a chunk of the cake, not bothering to look for a fork. "I would have been here earlier but that baka Suppi gave me the wrong address. Ha! Wait till I mail that dog to him. I'll get the last laugh…BWAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Why would Eriol-sama send you to check on me?"
"Oh probably because I'm the only one who can," Kero shrugged sarcastically, his face covered with chocolate icing. "You're incognito, remember? Apparently, he thinks that your first day in school as Yukino would be quite devastating."
Yukino watched the sun guardian in silence, too caught up in her thoughts.
"Was it?" Kero glanced at her when she didn't answer.
"Was it what?"
"Was your first day bad?"
"Not really. Are you going to stay long?" She demanded, a nerve struck sore.
"You're not getting rid of me this soon, are you? Besides, I can't go home."
"Nani!"
"I, uh, accidentally locked Sakura-chan's window by mistake. I wouldn't be able to go in so I was kind of hoping I could bunk in with you tonight."
Yukino sweatdropped. "Couldn't you just knock on her window?"
"I could but then she would ask me where I've been. And since I'm a good guardian, I wouldn't be able to lie to her. Before you know it, your little secret will be known in the entire Kinomoto household."
"Blackmailer," she muttered, her eyes twitching in anger. She was in no mood in entertaining anyone for the night, especially someone as annoying as him. She needed some time alone to think.
Without second thoughts, she transformed into her other self, her wings spreading as far as it could. Keroberos stared at her in surprise, his mouth hanging open showing some half chewed cake.
"Where are you going?" he asked as he watched her leave the room.
"None of your business," Yue said without looking back. "Try not to get into trouble while I'm gone."
With that, she went up to the second floor balcony and flew out into the night. She needed some peace and quiet where she could read Touya's letter and contemplate on her next move.
To be continued…
