This is based off of a short fic a friend of mine wrote, a retrospective piece about when Ran's parents were fighting and breaking up. In the story, whenever Ran got home from first grade and her parents were fighting- again- she ran away, and Shinichi always found her and played with her. It was a heartbreakingly sweet story, so this is my little tribute to it.

Ran-chan
They're fighting again
I can't take this
I've got to get out
Will they even notice?
I open the door
The noise is muffled
By shouts and yells
Fur being ruffled
Out in the street
Alone again
Little legs carrying
Me away from them
I can't remember when
They weren't fighting
It only stops for moments
Flashes of lightning
Striking me down
Leaving me alone
Out here `cause I can't
Take going home
Thump, thump, thump-
What's that sound?
A boy's football
Bouncing on the ground
A joke, a laugh,
Pointless chatter
It makes me smile
Feel a bit better
To play for a while
Simple games
Helps me forget
That bit of pain
They won't make up
So I know it won't leave me
But it goes for a while
When i'm with Shinichi
