Chapter 2:Inner torture...
"She's like an angel from hell or a demon from paradise..."
Spike opened his eyes to reality, for another dream had abandoned him. Reality was cold and cruel, forcing Spike to face the jazz the he didn't want to hear. He shifted and he felt the tug of stitches and sore limbs, but he hardly noticed the pain. For the wounds on his body hurt, but not as bad as the pain in his heart. He felt so empty, his very existence now pointless. For the past few years only one thought consumed him and it was that of a blonde angel. She died from a death Spike could have prevented. He dragged her into his emotions not only refusing to leave after Anne's death but by allowing Julia to stay. When that angel died in his arms, he felt so meaning less, so hated by everyone...he was just a dead man walking. He left the only family he ever truly knew and cared for him in the dust. Spike remembered Jet's cooking and the way that after kicking Spike out, Jet always welcomed him back to the Bebop. He remembered Faye, that troubled woman, who used to tease him. They were comrades and she understood him and his fickle mind the best. He would never forget the moment she came dashing out of the shower, there was something so different about her. The mask of the vixen had fallen and now in the place of it was a innocent child, much like the one in that Beta. He remembered Ed and Ein, the inseparable group, who were so annoying yet made him smile. Were they really happy with Ed's father, or did they even find him. Jet, Ed, Ein, Faye, and him... they were a group of lost souls, and yet they were this awkward family of sorts. Spike grinned at the thought.
The thing that was bothering him the most is that after telling Faye to leave the past behind, he did the exact opposite and died along with it. He now realized that you can't ignore the past, or run away from it, you can only make amends with it. As if putting a soul to rest after revealing the truth of the untimely death.
Spike felt a familiar gnawing in his body and he reached to his side for a pack of smokes. "Damn, I can't think without a pack of smokes," he thought wishing for the familiar fill of nicotine in his lungs. He sat up, taking notice of his location for the first time. He was in a white room on a yellow bed with only a nightstand by his side, which was filled with medical supplies. A window to his left brought in a slight breeze, ruffling the blue checkered curtains. The air was humid and damp, and he could here the pitter pat of a steady rain. "Well, this is definitely mars, and now for that pack of smokes..."
Spike stood out of bed and stretched, feeling the pull of sore muscles and stitches resist the movement. He was able to stand and walk but it took plenty of energy, for he hadn't used his legs in a while. Spike walked out the room into what looked like the hallway of an apartment. Walking to what looked like the main area, he found a spotless kitchen (except for the table which was littered with papers, and a family room. The family room had no TV, only a couch, a messy desk, and A LOT of bookshelves. The apartment looked like that of a professor. He looked at the books, and titles such as "Jane Eyre" and "How to kill a Mocking Bird" filled the shelves. The desk was littered with papers and had many drawers all with locks on them. He noticed a picture and was about to inspect it when he heard faint movement at the front door.
Spike warily approached the, trying not to make that much sound doing it. The door had about 50 locks on it , which Spike regarded with humor.
"Guess this guy likes his privacy," Spike thought as unlocking the locks one by one.
What he didn't expect was that he would come face to face with a gun.
"Freeze or you'll regret it," a cold voice said.
This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear
This is my December
This is my snow covered home
This is my December
This is me alone
And I And I And I
[Just wish I didn't feel like there was something I miss]
[ Take back all things I said to make you feel like]
And I'd give it all away
Just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away
To have someone to come home to....
This is me pretending this is all I need
