Cowboy Bebop Fan Fiction ❯ Phoenix ❯ Phoenix has risen ( Prologue )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Usually the prey hid from the hunter. It was rare for the prey to chase the hunter. When that did happen, the prey was usually caught. It was better to hide. That was the case for most people with bounties on their head. It was safe to hide and hopefully not get caught before the bounty was up. If the time did run out it was once again safe to claim your name and live the life you had left behind. That didn't happen too often. You were either caught or died trying to escape or hunting the hunter.
Gren was one of the lucky ones. He managed to by pass the bounty, but only by luck. People had believed that he was dead. Gren didn't mind that one bit. Yet, he was still surprised that he did live. Since he was given the opportunity to live once more it was time to repay a debt. Ironically, the person he was looking for was a bounty hunter. The only problem was trying to find the particular bounty hunter.
Slowly, Gren blew the smoke from his cigarette and then flicked it to the ground. Shrugging on his backpack he proceeded on down the sandy hill, crushing the cigarette butt at the same time. A light breeze blew stirring up the sand. His long black hair flew free as did his light cloak that easily blended in with the sand.
It was time to move on. He was a little reluctant of leaving the place, but he was happy to leave behind the harsh weather conditions that Titan was known for. Not many people were willing to live in such a place. Yet, he was a veteran of the place having fought on the planet during a war.
The sand crunched beneath his sandals as he slowly trudged down hill. Underneath the hill was a cave, in which his battered up ship was stored. Gren was surprised that he was able to get his ship to even start. Titan didn't have too many people around, and in turn it made it harder to get any parts he needed. Thanks to his friend he was able to get his ship to start once more. It was because of this friend that he was still alive and why he was looking for a bounty hunter.
Gren sat in the ship thinking of which course he could take. He wasn't sure where to even look for this particular bounty hunter. "Let's see where this will lead me," he said as he typed in the coordinates for Earth. It was a long shot, but maybe he could find some kind of clue. Gren sighed and lit up another cigarette. This was going to be a long and lonely ride.

"One, and a two, and a three! Ed picks this one as the lucky place that Bebop will go!" Ed happily proclaimed as she sat in front of the lab top. Waving her arms about she then brought down a finger and pressed a button on the screen. Beside her Eine happily barked.
"Are you sure it was a good idea to let Ed pick our vacation spot?" Faye questioned with a frown. She leaned over Jet's shoulder as she stood behind the couch that he occupied. "For all we know we could wind up going to Titan. This is the first time we get a vacation and I exactly don't want to waste this."
"Relax, Faye. Ed deserves a chance to make the decisions once and a while. What chances are there of us getting Titan?" Jet replied
"With our luck it could happen," Spike commented in a dry tone from the corner of a dorm. As usual he had a cigarette in hand.
"I doubt it especially since I narrowed down her list of choices," Jet answered.
"And the lucky place is! Saturn!" Ed shouted. "Bebop gets to go Saturn!" Continuing her small chant Ed pranced off.
"Well, that's a relief," Faye stated as she sauntered out of the room. "In the mean time I'm going to take a nice long hot bath. After all, I got to prepare my delicate figure for the vacation."
Jet groaned. "I'm going to set the locations."
"Jet, do you realize that you're treating this as if it were some kind of family vacation? The vacation is going to deplete the hard earned money that I gained," Spike stated. "These people just invited themselves into the group. I seem to remember that when this started it was you and I."
Jet shrugged. "From the looks of it, I think you're the one with the problem. Everyone has worked hard in his or her own ways, as much as I hate to say that. I think we all deserve a nice little break we're we don't have to worry about whom has a bounty."
Spike blew another breath of smoke and downed out rest of the cigarette in the ashtray.
"What ever you say, Jet." Putting his hands in his pockets he walked out the room.
Jet sighed. "I'll never understand the him."

Author's Note: I set in an alternate universe, but basically following the time line of Cowboy Bebop. It is my first attempt with writing a fan fiction for this anime. I am currently doing some more research before I go any further in this.
Disclaimer: I don't own Cowboy Bebop.
